At 12, my father decided to take me a trip to France. I had never been out of the country before, so I was very excited.
My aunt, my father and I went around with my father showing us all the unbelievable attractions in Paris. None of us spoke
much French but we loved the city.
We had taken the subway all over the city and were congratulating ourselves on our understanding of what is honestly a
good subway design that is pretty easy to follow. We decided to visit Versailles by train. We chatted happily along the way
until my father realized we were far into the French countryside and no one around spoke English.
We reached the end of the line and felt frightened when everyone finally left the train. An old man and his grandchild
noticed us and came up to help. He spoke no English, so in broken French we tried to explain. When he finally understood,
this great man settled his grandson and showed us to the correct train and then got on it with us.
Later we knew the truth that there was a train transfer (换乘) and he didn’t want us to miss it. This kind man rode a train
an hour and a half out of his way to make sure that three Americans got where they wanted to be. He refused to let us pay for
his ticket. He did it all with a gentle smile and shook our hands gently at the stop. Then with his quiet way, he got on the train
to return the way he had come.
What impressed me most was the man and his kindness during the amazing trip. Some Americans think the French are
rude for some reason, but I always try to make them change their minds with this story.
24.Why was the author excited about the trip to France ?
A. He could see unbelievable attractions.
B. He had never been abroad before.
C. He could take the subway all over the city.
D. He could go around with his aunt and father.
25.What happened to the author and his family on the train?
A.They were lost in the French countryside.
B.They had a quarrel with the other passengers.

C.They found it hard to understand the subway design.
D.They met an old man and his grandchild immediately.
26.The old man helped them ____.
A. by paying for their tickets
B. by teaching them some French
C. by showing them the correct train
D. by taking them to Versailles directly
27.What’s the purpose of the author’s writing the passage?
A.To show the importance of learning a foreign language.
B.To explain an unexpected problem and offer practical tips for future travelers.
C.To share an unforgettable foreign experience that left a deep impression on him.
D.To list the unbelievable attractions in Paris through personal travel experiences.

Can a robot help speed up Christmas deliveries? The city of Helsinki is finding out. A trial in Finland’s capital is using a
delivery robot in two neighborhoods to see if this new, self-driving and pollution-free method could help with the holiday
stress.
The HeRo robot that is being tested, is a project of Forum Virium, an innovative Finnish company. The trial will be
running through the end of December 2023. The goal is to show how packages can be quickly delivered to people’s homes
with great accuracy even during the holiday season.
HeRo is not just a delivery robot, it’s electric and operates without any dangerous emissions, plus it is
self-navigating(导航) and talks. The delivery robot was made by the French robotics firm TwinswHeel and uses an interface
created by the Finnish company LMAD.The four-wheeled vehicle can carry up to 300 kilograms and can travel up to 20
kilometers on just one charge of its lithium (锂) battery pack. HeRo uses a combination of GPS and onboard sensors (传感器)
to run through the city’s streets.
HeRo can carry several orders at once. Each order is in a separate locker and customers can open their lockers
electronically. In just one hour, the robot delivers packages from a few shops to people in the Ruoholahti and North
Jätkäsaari areas. No other delivery service is as fast or as clean.
This isn’t HeRo’s first appearance on Helsinki streets. From May to August 2023, there was a first phase trial. It carried
packages from Würth Center (a place that gives tools and supplies for industry) to nearby workplaces. These trials are part of
the international URBANE project. The project wants to find new, green ways to make logistics better for both companies
and people. Soon, there will be new trials in cities in Spain and Greece. Using self-driving robots for zero-emission delivery
is an idea that should be used all over the world.
28.What is the purpose of the trial in Helsinki?
A. To see if robots can replace human delivery workers.
B. To find out if robots can speed up Christmas deliveries.
C. To test if robots can reduce pollution during Christmas.
D. To check if robots can improve the accuracy of deliveries.
29.Which of the following is NOT a characteristic of the HeRo robot?
A. It is self-navigating.
B. It has onboard sensors.
C. It can carry up to 300 kilograms.
D. It can travel unlimited distances on one charge.
30.What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A. New trials will be expanded to other cities.
B. The URBANE project only focuses on Helsinki.
高一英语学科 试题 第 5 页 共 8 页
C. Zero emission delivery is already widely applied.
D.The HeRo robot has been on the streets of Helsinki only once.
31.What’s the best title for the text?
A. Pollution-free Method Proves Popular
B. Robots Are Helping to Deliver Packages
C. A Delivery Robot Improves Service Quality
D. Helsinki Takes the Lead in Holiday Deliveries

Sleep, considered a luxury by many, is essential for a person's health. Researchers have found that lack of sleep and
tiredness increase a person's risk of developing severe medical conditions, such as obesity (being very overweight), high
blood sugar levels, and heart disease. Now, a new study has found that getting enough sleep is also the key to improving
academic performance.
Jeffrey Gross, the university science professor who led the research, was not trying to find the relationship between
sleep and grades when he handed out smart watches to the 100 students in his chemistry class. Instead, the professor hoped
the devices, which track a person's physical activity, would show a connection between exercise and academic achievement.
While Gross's data showed no relationship between these two factors, the study found something surprising. As the
researchers were analyzing their data, they noticed that there was a straight-line relationship between the average amount of
sleep a student got and their results in the course's 11 quizzes, three midterm tests, and the final exam.
Even more interesting, it was not enough for students to just head to bed early the night before a test. Instead, it's the
sleep you get during the days when learning is happening that matters most.
The time students went to bed each night was similarly important. Those who went to bed in early hours of the morning
performed poorly, even if the total sleep time was the same as a higher-performing student. "When you go to bed matters,"
Gross says, "If you go to bed at 10, or 12, or 1 at night, and sleep for seven hours, your performance is the same. But if you
go to bed after 2, your performance starts to go down even if you get the same seven hours. So, quantity isn't everything."
Perhaps the most interesting was the huge impact that small differences in sleep patterns had on the students' grades.
The overall course grades for students averaging six and a half hours of sleep each night were 25% lower than students who
averaged just one hour more sleep. Similarly, students who varied their bedtime by even one hour each night had grades that
dropped 45% below those with more regular bedtimes.
32.What have researchers found about lack of sleep?
A. It can help people lose weight.
B. It can make people more likely to get sick.
C. It can reduce people's risk of heart disease.
D. It can improve people's academic performance.
33.What was Professor Jeffrey Gross's original intention?
A. To study the relationship between sleep and grades.
B. To investigate the impact of sleep on students' health.
C. To prove that smart watches can track physical activity.
D. To find out the connection between exercise and academic achievement.
34. According to the text, which of the following is correct?
A. The more sleep students get, the better their grades.
B. It's the sleep you get during the daytime that matters most.
C. Differences in sleep patterns have great impact on students' grades.
D. Students who go to bed after 2 am can perform well by sleeping longer.
35.What is the main idea of the text?
A. The importance of exercise for students.
高一英语学科 试题 第 6 页 共 8 页
B. The relationship between sleep and health.
C. The impact of sleep on academic performance.

Apps and Your Privacy
In today's digital age, protecting your privacy while using apps is important. All apps collect data as you use them. Here
are some good tips to keep your personal information safe. 36
For starters, download apps only from the App Store, not from random websites. 37
Before you accept an app’s terms and conditions, look at what information it’s planning to collect and think twice if it’s
asking for too many permissions. For example, why would a gaming app need access to text messages? You may think it's
inconvenient, but it's worth it.
Also, most apps don’t need to know your location, but for those that do, you can choose to enable location services only
when using the particular app, another smart privacy safeguard.
38 Don't use your main e-mail address or social media account. This way, if there is a security breach (缺口),
your exposure is contained to things connected to that address.
And, of course, use a secure password. This means a long one (at least ten characters) with a mixture of letters, numbers,
and special characters — and a unique password for each app. According to security experts, a good trick is to create a
memorable “passphrase” by creating a series of random(任意的) words, and then replace numbers or special characters for
some of the letters. 39 Go ahead and write them down — just store it in a secure location (not your wallet or phone
case!).
Finally, remember that privacy is an ongoing concern. Regularly review the apps you have installed and the permissions
you've granted them. Stay informed about the latest privacy threats and solutions. 40 By taking these simple steps,
you can enjoy the benefits of apps while protecting your personal data.
A. It's better to be safe than sorry.
B. How will you ever remember them all?
C. Why is it so important to protect our privacy?
D. Moreover, create strong, unique passwords for each app.
E. Because it can prevent bad software from infecting your device.
F. Following these four steps will help ensure you’re not oversharing.
G. Sign up an e-mail address just for things like app permissions and e-mail newsletters.

第二节 (满分 15 分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段结尾,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When I was in middle school, my social studies teacher asked me to enter a writing contest. I said no without thinking. I
did not love writing. My family came from Brazil, so English was only my second language. Writing was so difficult and
painful for me that my teacher had allowed me to present my paper on the sinking of the Titanic by acting out a play, where I
played all the parts. No one laughed harder than he did. So, why did he suddenly force me to do something at which I was
sure to fail? His reply: “Because I love your stories. If you’re willing to apply yourself, I think you have a good shot at
this.”
Encouraged by his words, I agreed to give it a try. I chose Paul Revere’s horse as my subject. Paul Revere was a
silversmith in Boston who rode a horse at night on April 18, 1775, to Lexington to warn people that British soldiers were
coming. My story would come straight from the horse’s mouth. Not a brilliant idea, but funny, and unlikely to be anyone
else’s choice. What did the horse think, as he sped through the night? Did he get tired? Have doubts? Did he want to quit? I
sympathized immediately. I got tired. I had doubts. I wanted to quit. But, like Revere’s horse, I kept going. I worked hard. I
checked my spelling. I asked my older sister to correct my grammar. I checked out a half-dozen books on Paul Revere from
the library. I even read a few of them. When I handed in the essay to my teacher, he read it, laughed out loud, and said,
“Great. Now, write it again.” I wrote it again, and again and again. When I finally finished it, the thought of winning had
given way to the enjoyment of writing. If I didn’t win, I wouldn’t care.

续写词数应为 100 个左右;

the Proper Use of Electronic Products
Dear teachers and fellow students,
In this digital era, electronic devices have become an inseparable part of our lives, especially for us
teenagers. However, excessive use of these gadgets has brought about a series of problems.
Firstly, our eyesight is worsening.Staring at the screens for long hours causes our eyes to tire and our
vision to weaken. Secondly, it has led to social isolation. We are so absorbed in virtual chats and online
interactions that we often neglect face-to-face communication. Moreover, when it comes to study, these
devices are a major distraction. Instead of focusing on homework or reading, we are easily affected by
endless online content, resulting in lower academic performance.
To turn the situation around, we must take action. Firstly, set strict boundaries, limiting daily screen
time to about two hours with the help of a timer. Secondly, design tech-free zones, such as study areas and
dinner tables, to enhance concentration and family connections. Moreover, swap some screen time for
outdoor pursuits or hobbies like cycling in the park or learning a musical instrument.
Let's take control of our digital lives and lead a healthier, more balanced lifestyle.
Thank you!

instant, my mind went blank for a moment, and then it was flooded with a swirl of emotions. I clutched the

achieved this. Looking ahead, I saw a path that had previously been obscured by my insecurities now

stretching out brightly before me. I was determined to keep perfecting my skills, perhaps even sharing my
experiences to inspire others who, like me, doubted their abilities. This win was not just a milestone; it was
the ignition switch for a future filled with the written word, and I couldn't wait to see where it would take
me.
参考范文 2:
A few weeks later, when I almost forgot the contest, there came the news. I won first prize! The
moment I heard it, my heart seemed to skip a beat and then started pounding wildly. Disbelief washed over
me first – was this really happening to someone who used to dread writing? Then, a wave of pure elation
surged through my veins. I pictured my teacher's proud smile and remembered his unwavering faith in me.
I realized that this wasn't just a win for me; it was a victory over my self-doubt. From that second on,
writing no longer felt like a chore but a doorway to endless possibilities, and I was eager to step through.
