66.Dear Sir/Madam,
I recently became aware of the library’s limit of three books per loan and felt compelled to share my concerns.
While I understand the intention behind the policy, it might lead to negative effect. Some subjects demand diverse resources for a research topic. With only three books, students would face challenges in providing comprehensive project materials.
Would it be possible to consider a more flexible policy? Maybe you could allow additional books based on academic project needs? This approach could benefit students while managing the library’s resources effectively.
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
67.Mr. Reed asked Mo to look up in the next exam and nod if she saw that Terry had her phone out. Mo made sure she was sitting behind Terry again in the history exam. When she noticed Terry took her phone out under the table, Mo looked up and nodded to Mr. Reed. Terry was too busy with her phone to even hear him approaching. He didn’t say a word, just took her exam paper, tore it in half and told Terry to leave the room. Terry started crying as she walked to the door. Everyone was staring at her and Mo felt a strange mixture of emotions. She knew she had done the right thing by reporting the cheating, but seeing Terry so distraught made her uneasy.
Mo was walking towards the school gate when she heard Terry calling her behind. Mo could see that Terry had been crying, her face pale and her eyes red. She felt sorry she had been avoiding Mo lately because her dad was seriously ill and he had an operation that day, so she was trying to text her mum to see how the operation was going when Mr. Reed caught her. “ I know it’s rather stupid to take my phone out during the examination. Will you forgive me?” said Terry in a shivering voice. Mo took a deep breath and said, “Terry, of course I forgive you. You already feel the pain brought by the mistake you made.” Retaking the exam is hard, but a teenager has to learn to reflect, grow, and eventually become a better self-disciplined person.

Experience space with zero gravity flights
The dream of experiencing the weightlessness of space with a zero-G flight has come true in states such as New York, California, Florida and more this year. Specially trained pilots perform aerobatic maneuvers(特技飞行) to keep you floating in space, a feeling no longer only for astronauts.
Climb North America’s new via ferrata Rocky Mountains, Colorado
If a trip with a challenge is what you’re looking for, then consider North America’s newest and highest “via ferrata”. Via ferrata is a method of rock climbing with ladders, fixed steps and cables allowing non-mountaineers a leg up. No rock climbing experience is necessary to climb 12,900 feet to the top on this protected climbing course with a guide.
Travel with chimpanzees(黑猩猩), Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda
Many of us started to rethink our relationship to nature. Be like Jane Goodall and go on a journey with endangered chimpanzees in Uganda’s jungle. You will be putting your tourism dollars toward helping protect the animals through a series of protection projects with Jane Goodall Institute.
Hike to the Iceland’s erupting volcano(活火山), Iceland
In this once-in-life-time trip, you can hike or take a helicopter ride over the Fagradalsfjall volcano eruption in Geldinggadalur, which has been going on since March. Book this trip fast to catch the eruption because no one knows how long it will continue, or try ice climbing Skaftafell, the highest mountain in Iceland-no experience necessary.
21.Where can we both get close to and help nature?
A.Travel with chimpanzees in Uganda.
B.Hike to the Iceland’s erupting volcano.
C.Climb North America’s new via ferrata.
D.Experience space with zero gravity flights.
22.Which of the following statements is true?

The fast autonomous logging machine advanced down a Swedish forest path and scanned for piled logs to transport. It then lifted them up and loaded them onto its trailer. A new study of the truck-size robot suggests it could help forest workers with at least some deadly jobs.
“It’s the first trial for us to see that the machine we built is perhaps capable of doing what we were dreaming it could do,” says Pedro La Hera, a roboticist and lead author of the study. Traditional logging jobs are often requiring operators to multitask and bear nearly constant vibration (振动) while operating logging vehicles. Tired foresters don’t always pay attention to other plants in the area, thus damaging the ecosystems around them. Logging is also dangerous; in the U. S., it has one of the highest death rates of any industry.
Roboticists, software engineers and forestry scholars in Sweden set out to automate some logging tasks. They used GPS to set a path in a clear-cut area and equipped the vehicle with a computer vision system to help it identify, pick up and release cut logs. The predetermined task sequence (序列) demonstrates how, in a controlled environment, a machine with little to no human oversight could operate.
“We have problems getting help working in the woods,” says Thomas Douglass, a logger in Guilford, Maine, “So it’s definitely an advancement.”
For now these vehicles’ use may be limited to Sweden, where nearly all paths in forests are well identified, and satellites provide information on logged areas. Loggers in the U. S., in contrast, harvest trees both in plantations and in natural stands where self-piloted machinery would face more challenges.
Still, the research highlights aspects of autonomous machinery that are worth developing further, says Dalia Abbas, a forester who has investigated the effects of logging operations in environmentally sensitive areas. Eventually, Abbas says, she “would definitely hope that it takes into account the fuller range of where it’s operating, whether it carries wildlife, other contaminants (污染物) or insects that come with the logs to avoid any harm, and its sensitivity to the terrain (地形).”
24.Which of the following best describes the traditional logging jobs?
A.Demanding and risky.
B.Tiring but rewarding.
C.Profitable but dangerous.
D.Promising and creative.
25.What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.Where the logging machinery works best.
B.What challenges the logging machinery faces.
C.How the logging machinery achieves automation.
D.Why GPS technology is used in the logging process.

A.Its loggers are well equipped.
B.Its forests are fully monitored.
C.Its roads are specially designed.
D.Its logged areas are easily accessible.
27.What is a future consideration for developing the logging machine?
A.Its capacity of loading logs.
B.Its impact on the ecosystem.
C.The replacement of human labor.
D.The convenience of its operation.

A garden constructed with “humble” clay fashioned into 3D-printed bricks has claimed the first green medal at the Chelsea Flower Show for being the most environmentally sustainable design.
The Chelsea Flower Show, a celebrated global event held annually at Chelsea, London, has been a cornerstone of the gardening calendar since 1913. It began as a way to showcase the latest trends in gardening and plant varieties. The Environmental Innovation Award is the first of its sort and goes along with the gold, silver and bronze medals awarded to the most attractive and interesting gardens.
Giulio Giorgi, a first-time Chelsea designer, stated he created the green-medal-winning garden with no concrete. Most gardens contain concrete in some form and the materials they are built from often generate the highest carbon footprint.
While the employment of pollinator-friendly plants, wild areas and sensible use of water are well-known easy ways to make a garden more sustainable, Giorgi said it was crucial to focus on the building materials as their carbon footprint was often overlooked.
“We typically use a lot of metal, glue, cement and then all the energy we have to put in to build the gardens. The material in our garden is low-temperature-fired clay, a resource that can be found pretty much everywhere. We made this clay into 3D-printed bricks, connecting ancient tradition with novel practices so carbon emissions are the lowest possible, if any. The bricks, peppered with tiny holes, can absorb water and release it when drought strikes plants,” said Giorgi.
Judges considered end-of-life plans for the gardens and whether materials could be reused. The 3D-printed nature of Giorgi’s garden means it can easily be taken apart and put together again. As a result, when it is relocated to RHS Garden Wisley, where it will live on after the show as an educational facility, the carbon emissions will be low as no materials will be wasted.
28.What do we know about the Chelsea Flower Show?
A.It values sustainability as well as appeal.
B.Its initial aim was to encourage outdoor fitness.
C.It requires competing gardens to be concrete-free.
D.It has a long-standing tradition of championing greenness.
29.What advantage does clay have over other building materials according to Giorgi?
A.It catches fire less easily.
B.It's more durable and absorbent.
C.It takes less labor to produce.
D.It's eco-friendly and more available.
30.What will become of Giorgi’s garden after the show?
A.It' Il be sold publicly.
C.It' Il be turned into a school.
B.It' Il serve as an urban landmark.
D.It' Il come into play in another spot.
31.What can be the best title for the text?
A.Clay Bricks: Recyclable Building Material
B.Chelsea Flower Show: Celebration of Gardening
C.Garden with Clay Bricks: Winner of Green Medal
D.Giulio Giorgi: Designer Enthusiastic about High-Tech.

Scientists in Australia are testing printed solar panels to power a Tesla on a 15, 100-kilometer (9,400-mile) journey beginning in September, which they hope will get the public thinking about steps to help prevent climate change.
The Charge Around Australia (CAA) project will power a Tesla electric car with 18 of the team’s printed plastic solar panels, each 18 meters (59 feet) long, rolling them out beside the vehicle to absorb sunlight when it needs a charge.
Paul Dastoor, the inventor of the printed solar panels, said the University of Newcastle team would be testing not only the endurance of the panels but their potential performance for other applications. “This is actually an ideal test bed to give us information about how we would go about using and powering technology in other remote locations, for example, in space,” Dastoor told Reuters in the town of Gosforth, north of Sydney.
Printed solar is a lightweight, laminated (层压的) plastic that can be made at a cost of less than $10 a square meter. The panels are made on a commercial printer originally used for printing wine labels.
Dastoor said using the panels to power a car would get Australians to think more about electric vehicles and could help ease their “range anxiety.” The community is seeking these sorts of answers to the problems it’s being faced with, day in, day out, around climate change.
On their 84-day Tesla journey, the team plans to visit about 70 schools to give students a taste of what the future may hold. Asked what Elon Musk, creator of the Tesla car and founder of Tesla Inc TSLA.O, might say about the CAA project, Dastoor said he hoped he would be pleased. CAA was “showing how our innovative technology is now combining with his developments to develop new solutions for the planet”, Dastoor said.
32.What can we learn about the printed solar panel?
A.It weighs a lot. B.It can be rolled and carried.
C.lt can be used at any time of a day. D.It has been applied to power gas cars.
33.What is “range anxiety” in Paragraph 5 probably about?
A.The climate is getting worse. B.The solar panels are 100 long.
C.The solar panels are expensive. D.The endurance of the panels is poor.
34.What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A.Musk is pleased with the CAA project.
B.Students are positive about their own future.
C.The electric car lasts 84 days on a single charge.
D.The CCA team and Musk are making efforts for climate changes.
35.Which can be the best title for the text?
A.A new test on Tesla B.A new discovery in space
C.A breakthrough in solar panels D.A concern for climate changes.

Mo was waiting in the corridor with her class on Friday morning. She felt sick and her knees were shaking. She always felt sick during the exam week. She had two more exams that day and physics was the first. She really hated physics. Terry glanced back at her from the front of the queue and then looked away quickly. She didn’t have a problem with physics. She didn’t have a problem with anything ... Little Miss Perfect!
Terry was looking back at her again. “So what’s wrong with her?” Nina standing behind Mo had noticed Terry looking back at them. “I thought you were friends.” ”Yeah, so did I,” said Mo, “She’d promised to help me revise for the physics exam, but then just ignored all my calls and texts. Nina was trying to look sympathetic. However, it was time to go into the exam room. Mo gave Nina a worried look and followed them.
She had been staring at question number five for at least ten minutes without any clue, when she looked up. Terry was sitting a few rows in front of her to the right and Mo couldn’t believe her eyes! She had her phone on her left knee and she was reading from it. Is that how Terry always got good grades? She just felt really angry at Terry. She almost put her hand up to tell Mr Reed, but Terry had already put her phone away when Mo looked up again. She looked back over her shoulder at Mo and smiled sadly.
It wasn’t fair! Mo never cheated and she was often in trouble for failing exams, while Little Miss Perfect had been cheating all this time. The next exam was history, which was Mo’s favorite and best subject but it didn’t help her feel any better. She was furious with Terry. She wanted to talk to her but she’d left instantly the exam had finished and now Mo couldn’t find her. She didn’t know what to do. Should she tell a teacher? Just then, Mr Reed walked past her table on his way out. “Mr Reed!” called Mo before she could stop herself.
