This new school year, I wanted my love for my students to be super adaptive, a little bit blind, and similar to the kind of love a mother gives to her children. I wanted a love that could put up with unappealing personalities and behaviors, which had the ability to lead to my “I wish he or she was not in my class” response, with humor, peace, and curiosity.
I decided to go toward the most difficult students with additional kindness, rather than backing away in frustration when my former attempts to change them failed. The changes in my education were faint yet definite. I had always taken students aside when they made poor decisions. But my new plan asked questions that were free of scolding or shame, and more gentle and sincere. Are you feeling all right? Is something bothering you? What happened last night? These questions rarely led to any big “ah ha” moments, but I treated each repeated conversation with patience.
Although my love plan was designed to improve my students’ school experience, it completely improved mine as well. It worked magic on my relationships with students and energised me for the school day. My difficult students represented puzzles to solve and relationships to improve, not frightening trouble that would exhaust my joy. Letting go of the assumption that their behaviors must be purposive choices, I was able to avoid feelings of resentment (怨恨) when my students made mistakes. I felt more peaceful and less angry.
Loving my students also got easier as the year progressed. I wondered whether my approach would work in the long run. Now it turns out that love brings love.
24.What was the author’s desire in the new term?
A.To seek students’ shining points.
B.To respect students’ suggestions.
C.To be more tolerant of students.
D.To show an interest in teaching.
25.What was the change in the author’s education?
A.She cared about students’ sleep quality.
B.She took badly-behaved students aside.
C.She made efforts to lift students’ spirits.
D.She offered students chances to explain.
26.What was the impact of the author’s love plan?
A.It enabled her to find self-worth.
B.It made her feel more composed.
C.It guided students to be honest.
D.It gave students more spare time.
27.What can we learn from the author’s experience?
A.One action can bring two gains.
B.There is some light in the dark.
C.All the worries are for nothing.
D.Facts speak louder than words.
【答案】24.C 25.D 26.B 27.A

根据第二段中“I had always taken students aside when they made poor decisions. But my new plan asked questions that were free of scolding or shame, and more gentle and sincere. Are you feeling all right? Is something bothering you? What happened last night? These questions rarely led to any big “ah ha” moments, but I treated each repeated conversation with patience.( 过去,每当学生做出糟糕的决定时,我总是会把他们叫到一旁。但我的新计划是提出一些不带责骂或羞辱意味的问题,而且更加温和真诚。比如:你感觉还好吗?是不是有什么事让你烦恼?昨晚发生什么事了?这些问题很少能带来什么重大的“顿悟”时刻,但我每次都会耐心地对待这些反复出现的谈话)”可知,作者教育方面的变化是给学生解释的机会。故选D。
26.细节理解题。根据第三段中“Letting go of the assumption that their behaviors must be purposive choices, I was able to avoid feelings of resentment (怨恨) when my students made mistakes. I felt more peaceful and less angry.(不再假设他们的行为一定是有目的的选择,当我的学生犯错时,我就能避免怨恨的感觉。我感到更平静,更少生气)”可知,作者的爱计划的影响是它让她感到更平静。故选B。
27.推理判断题。根据第三段中“Although my love plan was designed to improve my students' school experience, it completely improved mine as well. It worked magic on my relationships with students and energized me for the school day.(虽然我的爱计划是为了改善学生的学习体验而设计的,但它也完全改善了我的学习体验。它对我与学生之间的关系产生了神奇的影响,让我在学校里充满活力)”以及最后一段中“Now it turns out that love brings love.(现在看来,爱能带来爱)”可推知,从作者的经历中我们体会到“一举两得”的道理。故选A。
C
A few years back, you started a vacation with friends, creating treasured memories of beach walks, ocean swims, and amazing sunsets. However, the trip had its share of challenges: long drives, food concerns, and unpredictable weather. Over time, you find yourself recalling the pleasant moments while the inconveniences disappear gradually. This is known as rosy retrospection (回忆), a cognitive bias (认知偏见) where we remember past events more positively than they actually were.
This phenomenon results from how our brains work to form memories. When recalling events, our brains tend to focus more on the positive aspects and put less emphasis on the negative ones. This selective memory helps maintain emotional well-being by allowing us to remove discomfort from past experiences. Nostalgia (怀旧) also plays a significant role by awakening feelings of warmth and belonging, leading to a more positive view of the past. Furthermore, our current emotional state and self-advancement bias can influence how we remember past events, making them seem more favorable. For instance, if we are feeling down, we might recall happier times to better our mood.
While rosy retrospection can uplift our moods, increase life satisfaction, and aid in coping with difficult situations by providing a sense of continuity and positive self-identity, it can also create an unrealistic view of the past, leading to decisions based on idealized memories rather than reality. This is one reason why we might repeatedly return to unhealthy relationships. The longer time passes since an event, the more likely we are to let the good memories outweigh the bad, and perhaps even forgive unforgivable behavior.
Realizing and understanding this cognitive bias is important for making right and beneficial decisions. This awareness can help us avoid falling into the trap of idealizing the past so that we can learn from our experiences without being misled by the overly positive lens (透镜) of rosy retrospection.
28.How do people with rosy retrospection typically behave?
A.They share challenges of trips happily.
B.They view previous experiences positively.
C.They recall the pleasant moments with bias.
D.They create treasured vacation memories with ease.
29.How many factors contribute to the phenomenon of rosy retrospection?
A.One. B.Two. C.Three. D.Four.
30.What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us?
A.The potential risks of rosy retrospection.
B.The positive effects of rosy retrospection.
C.The necessity of focusing on positive experiences.
D.The benefits of returning to unhealthy relationships.
31.What is the author’s attitude toward rosy retrospection?
A.Unclear. B.Positive. C.Unconcerned. D.Balanced.
【答案】28.B 29.C 30.A 31.D
根据第一段中“This is known as rosy retrospection (回忆), a cognitive bias (认知偏见) where we remember past events more positively than they actually were.(这就是所谓的玫瑰色回忆,一种认知偏见,即我们对过去事件的记忆比实际情况更积极)”可知,拥有玫瑰色回忆的人通常会以积极视角看待以前的经历。故选B项。
根据第二段中“This phenomenon results from how our brains work to form memories. (这种现象源于我们大脑形成记忆的方式。)”、“Nostalgia (怀旧) also plays a significant role by awakening feelings of warmth and belonging, leading to a more positive view of the past.(怀旧也起着重要作用,它唤起温暖和归属感,让我们对过去有更积极的看法)”和“Furthermore, our current emotional state and self-advancement bias can influence how we remember past events, making them seem more favorable.(此外,我们当前的情绪状态和自我提升偏见会影响我们对过去事件的记忆,使它们看起来更美好)”可知,“大脑形成记忆的方式”、“怀旧”和“当前情绪状态与自我提升偏见”这三个因素塑造了玫瑰色回忆现象。故选C项。
根据第三段中“While rosy retrospection can uplift our moods, increase life satisfaction, and aid in coping with difficult situations by providing a sense of continuity and positive self-identity, it can also create an unrealistic view of the past, leading to decisions based on idealized memories rather than reality.(虽然玫瑰色回忆可以提升我们的情绪,提高生活满意度,并通过提供一种连续性和积极的自我认同感来帮助我们应对困难局面,但它也会对过去形成不切实际的看法,导致我们基于理想化的记忆而不是现实来做决策)”可知,该段主要讲述了玫瑰色回忆的潜在风险。故选A项。
根据第三段“While rosy retrospection can uplift our moods, increase life satisfaction, and aid in coping with difficult situations by providing a sense of continuity and positive self-identity, it can also create an unrealistic view of the past, leading to decisions based on idealized memories rather than reality.(虽然玫瑰色回忆可以提升我们的情绪,提高生活满意度,并通过提供一种连续性和积极的自我认同感来帮助我们应对困难局面,但它也会对过去形成不切实际的看法,导致我们基于理想化的记忆而不是现实来做决策)”和最后一段“Realizing and understanding this cognitive bias is important for making right and beneficial decisions. This awareness can help us avoid falling into the trap of idealizing the past so that we can learn from our experiences without being misled by the overly positive lens (透镜) of rosy retrospection.(认识和理解这种认知偏见对于做出正确和有益的决定非常重要。这种意识可以帮助我们避免陷入理想化过去的陷阱,这样我们就可以从我们的经验中学习,而不会被过于积极的玫瑰色回顾所误导)”可知,作者在文中既提到了玫瑰色回忆的积极影响,也提到了其消极影响。可知,作者对玫瑰色回忆的态度是客观的。故选D项。

As the Earth’s climate continues to warm, hurricanes are growing stronger. Florida’s wildlife, which includes animals such as manatees, alligators, and dolphins, is impacted by damage from heavy flooding and especially strong winds.
According to Maureen McCann, a weather expert, rising temperatures lead to more severe storms. This results in heavy rainfall and unusual rises in the level of the sea near the coast. These changes cause challenges not only for humans, but also for the state’s wildlife.
That’s where Clearwater Marine Aquarium (水族馆) comes in. It works to rescue ocean animals after these types of events. Hurricanes can send sea turtles and manatees to other places, often leaving them stranded (搁浅) in unfamiliar places like rivers or lakes. Kelly Martin, Vice President of Zoological Care, explained that teams from the Aquarium help send these animals back to their natural habitats (栖息地).
“Ocean animals are born with the ability to sense coming storms,” Martin said, adding that they might react to changes in air pressure or ocean currents. While wild animals use this ability to survive, organizations like the Aquarium ensure that animals in their care remain safe and calm during hurricanes.
Hurricanes also affect habitats in other ways. Warmer oceans and rising sea levels increase the power of storms, leading to more severe coastal flooding. These changes threaten ecosystems and the animals that depend on them.
Martin warned, “Wild animals have amazing survival skills, so it’s best not to get involved unless they’ re in clear danger. Thus, it would be better if people observe stranded animals from a safe distance for some time after a storm, and contact local wildlife rescue organizations only when necessary.”
Kids can also help by learning about careers in meteorology and climate science. “Preparedness is key,” MeCann said. “And for those interested in science, there are so many opportunities to make a difference.”
Supporting wildlife rescue organizations like Clearwater Marine Aquarium can also help protect animals affected by hurricanes. “Whether you visit, donate, or share our story, your support makes a difference,” Martin said.
32.What does Maureen McCann say about the warming climate?
A.It drives certain animals to go extinct.
B.It enables ocean animals to be more adaptive.
C.It contributes to the formation of more serious storms.
D.It makes it hard for some regions to get enough rainfall.
33.How do hurricanes influence the wild animals in Florida?
A.By reducing their food supplies.
B.By slowing down their reaction speed.
C.By displacing them from their natural habitats.
D.By causing them to lose their sense of direction.
34.What’s Martin’s suggestion?
A.Trying to rescue them immediately.
B.Sending them to rescue organizations directly.
C.Leaving them alone to avoid potential risks.
D.Watching their condition before taking any action.
35.Which of the following would be the best title for the text?
A.The Growing Power of Hurricanes
B.Florida’s Wild Animals and Their Habitats
C.The Role of Aquariums in Protecting Wild Animals
D.Hurricanes’ Impact on Florida’ s Wildlife and Solutions
根据文章第二段“According to Maureen McCann, a weather expert, rising temperatures lead to more severe storms. This results in heavy rainfall and unusual rises in the level of the sea near the coast.(气象专家Maureen McCann表示,气温上升会引发更为猛烈的风暴,并引发导致暴雨和沿海海平面上升异常。)”
根据文章第三段“Hurricanes can send sea turtles and manatees to other places, often leaving them stranded(搁浅)in unfamiliar places like rivers or lakes. Kelly Martin, Vice President of Zoological Care, explained that teams from the Aquarium help send these animals back to their natural habitats(栖息地).(飓风会把海龟和海牛卷至陌生区域(如河流、湖泊)并导致搁浅。水族馆动物护理副总裁Kelly Martin解释说,水族馆的团队会帮助将这些动物送回自然栖息地。)”可知,飓风将这些野生动物从它们的自然栖息地驱离,改变了它们的生存环境。故选C。
34.细节理解题。根据文章倒数第三段“Martin warned, “Wild animals have amazing survival skills, so it’s best not to get involved unless they’ re in clear danger. Thus, it would be better if people observe stranded animals from a safe distance for some time after a storm, and contact local wildlife rescue organizations only when necessary.”(Martin提醒道:“野生动物拥有惊人的生存技能,除非明显处于危险,否则不应贸然干预。
Helping Your Teen Understand the Value of Money
It seems that there are more things for teens to spend money on than ever. There are expensive clothes, video games, MP3 players, and more. 36 That’s why it’s important to help them understand the value of money.
Start teaching your children about money early. Starting around age 10, give them a few dollars every week for them to spend however they want. 37 But let them choose what they want to do. Don’t set limits on what they can spend it on, and don’t continually buy them things they want. They’ll soon learn that if they spend all their money as soon as they get it, they won’t be able to afford more expensive things they want.
You should also start early introducing your children to budgets (预算) and how much things cost. Have them go to the store with you or watch you pay the bills. 38
As your child gets older, about 13 or 14, increase their pocket money as you increase their responsibility. Once they’re more responsible, give them a budget for something bigger like clothes and make them stick to it.
Eventually, your child will probably get a job. 39 Have them put some into a savings account to use for college or other pursuits. Let them use the rest as mad money to spend however they want. If you’re worried about what they’re buying, open them a checking account you can monitor.
40 It takes many small steps. Remember that they will probably mess up along the way, but mistakes are how they learn.
A.Help them choose a well-paid job.
B.And you can also encourage them to pay the bills.
C.Take this opportunity to teach them about savings.
D.Soon they’ll realize how much some things really cost.
E.Make the pocket money dependent on doing housework.
F.Teaching your child the value of money will not happen overnight.
G.If you aren’t made of money, it’s hard to give your kids everything they want.
36.根据空文“There are expensive clothes, video games, MP3 players, and more.”(有昂贵的衣服、电子游戏、MP3播放器等。),空文“That’s why it’s important to help them understand the value of money.”(这就是为什么帮助他们理解金钱的价值是很重要的。)
37.根据前文“Starting around age 10, give them a few dollars every week for them to spend however they want.”(从10岁左右开始,每周给他们几美元,让他们想怎么花就怎么花。)可知,此处是讲给孩子零花钱,根据后文“But let them choose what they want to do.”(但让他们选择自己想做的事。)
38.根据前文“You should also start early introducing your children to budgets (预算) and how much things cost.”(你也应该尽早向你的孩子介绍预算和花费。)和“Have them go to the store with you or watch you pay the bills.”(让他们和你一起去商店,或者看着你付账单。)
39.根据后文“Have them put some into a savings account to use for college or other pursuits.”(让他们存一些钱到储蓄账户里,用于上大学或其他追求。)
40.根据后文“It takes many small steps.”(这需要很多小步骤。)

故填which。
故填were told。

故填a。
故填to。
civilian and scientist前有序数词修饰,此处用travel“行进”的不定式,作后置定语,修饰the first civilian and scientist。故填to travel。

Last Sunday morning, my parents and I were going on a vacation in Sydney, where my grandparents lived, to celebrate my birthday. Actually, celebrating my birthday in my grandparents’ home had been a family tradition. As a result, their neighbors, warm-hearted and friendly, were familiar with me. Sometimes, they even came to the house and brought me birthday gifts in person.
We took the subway there as usual. When we got off the subway, I found I had lost my bag. The bag was memorable to me because it was given by my parents when I became a senior high school student. It also had some valuable items inside, including an expensive watch a birthday gift from my grandparents.
I couldn’t help but cry because the bag meant so much to me.“What’s the matter. Lily?” my mom asked. I told her that I might leave the bag on the subway. Hearing that, she comforted me and said. “We have plenty of time. Let’s talk to the staff (工作人员).”
Instantly, my parents reported the situation to the staff at the subway station. A kind worker smiled to me and said. “If someone found it, they would hand it in.” He asked us to wait patiently for a while, and then he called for help. After half an hour, the worker didn’t give us any information. I started to become anxious and lose hope. My father said. “No news is good news.”However, the worker finally apologized to us and let us wait for the information on the recovery of the missing bag at home. We had to go to my grandparents’ house first.
In the afternoon, while I, together with my grandparents and my father, was preparing for a birthday party, I heard my mother talking to someone on the phone about my lost bag. My heart was beating violently, and I was expecting something extraordinary to happen. Sure enough, my mother got me to answer the phone, “Good news, Lily. The call is just for you, from the kind worker. He said a girl called Beatrice had sent the bag back.” I felt amazed that the girl’s name is the same as my friend’s in Sydney.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
I took the phone, and then the voice of the worker who had helped us at the subway station came from it.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
My family and I were dancing happily when someone knocked at the door.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I took the phone, and then the voice of the worker who had helped us at the subway station came from it. He explained to me that, the kind girl, Beatrice, had picked up my bag on the subway and that she was sorry for not notifying the Lost and Found office in time. I felt infinitely grateful to him and the girl. The moment I hung up the phone, I circled with excitement. When my father soon fetched the bag, the birthday dinner was ready, and our family was seated at the desk, where we ate, talking and laughing. After dinner, we began to dance to the music. The house was full of harmony and warmth.
My family and I were dancing happily when someone knocked at the door. Grandma stopped dancing and went to open the door. She said “It must be a neighbor who wants to give you a gift, Lily.” In a moment, a beautiful girl entered the house with a bunch of flowers. “Happy birthday, Lily.” said she, my best friend, Beatrice. I warmly welcomed her. When she saw the bag on the sofa, she screamed, “The bag looks like the one I picked up this morning.” We confirmed it and thought it was a coincidence. I said with gratitude, “Thanks, Beatrice. Kindness is always around us.”

D.Balanced.

注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
I took the phone, and then the voice of the worker who had helped us at the subway station came from it.

I took the phone, and then the voice of the worker who had helped us at the subwaystation came from it. He explained to me that, the kind girl, Beatrice, had picked up my bag on the subway and that she was sorry for not notifying the Lost and Found office in time. I felt infinitely grateful to him and the girl. When I hung up the phone, I circled with excitement.

D.Balanced.
D
