What to do to protect animals. B. Whether to keep animals in zoos. C. How to improve zoos’ environment. 19. What do experts of Group A suggest? A. Teaching people more about wild animals. B. Protecting animals in a well-designed area. C. Leaving animals in the wild without protection. 20. What is the speaker? A. A teacher. B. A host. C. A scientist. B 19. A 20. Are zoos necessary, or are they only bad to the animals? This is a question that causes disagreement among many animal experts. Some, we may just call them Group A, believe that placing animals in a zoo does harm to them. These people think that all animals should be protected from being hunted too much and left in their native land. They also advise people to be educated to know more about animals in the wild. Other experts of Group B think differently. They say that modern zoos are designed very closely to the natural environment. One of their strongest arguments is that certain species, such as the panda from China and the white tiger from India, are not only protected from uncontrolled killing but can give babies under protection and in that way they may be saved from dying out. OK, that’s all from me and you’re expected to express your opinions on this question next class. A Despite being one of the most remote places on Earth, getting to Antarctica isn’t as difficult as you might think. How to Get to Antarctica Taking a boat is the most common and economical way to get to Antarctica. If you don’t prefer to travel by water, you can fly into Antarctica from Punta Arenas in Chile, which takes only two hours. Flights usually only operate from December to February. Since there are no commercial flights available, you need to book your flight together with your cruise ship It’s also possible to fly from Cape Town, South Africa, in just 5 hours. The Best Things to Do in Antarctica There are 17 different types of penguins in Antarctica, which you can see on the main continent and the Falkland Islands. March and April are peak whale-watching months off the coast of Antarctica. During this time, you can spot various kinds of whales. Particular hotspots include Wilhelmina Bay and the Lemaire Channel. Exploring the land of Antarctica on foot is a unique way to experience its icy landscape. Deception Island and Orne Harbor are great places for hiking, while the snow-covered Antarctic Peninsula is a popular destination for snowshoeing. Tips for Visiting Antarctica First, stay within the luggage limits. Next, check your itinerary (行程) to make sure you see everything on your wish list. It’s also wise to book ahead of time, as cruises can sell out due to the extremely short travel season. 21. What can we learn about flights to Antarctica? A. They take only one hour. B. With a degree in botany and a 27-year-long career in the pharmaceutical (制药的) industry, 54-year-old Azharul has always had an enthusiasm for plants. More crucially, he believes that anyone can learn to identify plants, regardless of academic background. This belief drove him to share his plant knowledge through short engaging videos on Facebook and YouTube. Some videos were so popular that they received over 10 million views within 24 hours, proving his approach resonates (引起共鸣) in today’s fast-paced world. “People won’t watch 40-minute lectures,” he explains, “but they’ll learn from short videos.” Azharul’s videos cover a wide range of topics, from medicinal plants like kukurchita to non-native species such as the Singapore daisy and the “majestic heaven lotus”. His videos are also known for their creative video titles, which excite curiosity and attract viewers: “The plant whose thorns were used to make stamps,” and “Codura leaf used to clean fish.” Since launching his Facebook channel a year ago, Azharul has attracted around a million followers, including plant enthusiasts and students. Central to his teachings is highlighting ecosystem balance — he encourages children to plant trees during rainy seasons and learn how plants contribute to the environmental balance. Now nicknamed brikkho bondhu (“plant friend” in Bangla), Azharul states: “If my work encourages someone to take an interest in planting trees or reveals new facts about them, then I’ve accomplished my mission.” Azharul says his journey is just beginning. He left his job and devoted all his time to spreading word online. “Plant identification isn’t my profession — it’s my passion (热情) ,” he declares. His love for plants and his desire to share his knowledge with the world will continue to grow, inspiring others to appreciate the beauty and importance of the natural world. 24. You sit at a desk, grab a favorite pen, and fill a notebook with rich thoughts and ideas. All in beautiful handwriting, of course. It’s a cute mental picture, but it’s also probably why you never do it. The pressure to be perfect while journaling is real and it’s often what puts people off the practice. While it’s exciting to buy notebooks and diaries, it’s tough to actually start writing in them, and it explains why so many are getting into scribble journaling — a trend with millions of posts on TikTok. With scribble journaling, the idea is to write as fast, thoughtless, and illegible (不可识别的) as you like. The goal isn’t to be able to read what you wrote but to allow your pen to keep up with your thoughts. In a video, creator@oakandbee said this style of writing has completely changed their approach to journaling. “I literally just connect all the words together and scribble it down, ” they said. “I’m not crossing any Ts or Xs. I’m not dotting any Is. And I’m not using any punctuation (标点) . The words are all connected.” As for the benefits of scribble journaling, according to Dr. Caroline Fenkel, a chief clinical officer at Charlie Health, it gives priority to expression over logical connection, similar to a stream of consciousness (意识) . “Scribble journaling removes the pressure of being formal,” she adds, “It’s a great way to avoid overthinking.” The act of writing by hand also plays a role. “It engages the brain differently than typing, activating (激活) physical skills and emotional processing, ” she says. This technique releases stress from your nervous system as you put it all onto paper. “The act of writing without structure can help express emotions quickly and provide a sense of relief, ” says Fenkel. If scribble journaling helps, remind yourself that this isn’t a journal for storing important or sweet memories. That can happen in another notebook or a junk journal. Allow this one to be purely about scribbles — a place where you can let it all out. 28. Why do people get into scribble journaling? A. The lack of interest in journaling. B. The trend of journaling on TikTok. C The stress to pursue perfection in journaling. D. The thrill to purchase notebooks and diaries. 29. Why is creator@oakandbee’s comment mentioned in paragraph 4? A. To predict the trend of writing journals. B. To highlight the importance of journaling. C. To present the feature of scribble journaling. D. To indicate the lifestyle of young people. 30. What can we learn about scribble journaling according to Fenkel? A. It facilitates emotional release. B. It postpones emotional relief. C. It involves structured writing. D. It enhances the logic of expression. 31. What is the best title passage of the article? A. Scribble Journaling to Release Energy B. Scribble Journaling to Relieve Stress C. Scribble Journaling to Recall Knowledge D. Scribble Journaling to Restore Confidence 【答案】28. C 29. C 30. A 31. 根据第二段“The pressure to be perfect while journaling is real and it’s often what puts people off the practice. While it’s exciting to buy notebooks and diaries, it’s tough to actually start writing in them, and it explains why so many are getting into scribble journaling — a trend with millions of posts on TikTok.(写日记时要求完美的压力是真实存在的,这往往是人们放弃写日记的原因。虽然购买笔记本和日记很令人兴奋,但很难真正开始用它们写作,这也解释了为什么这么多人开始写涂鸦日记——这是TikTok上数百万条帖子的趋势)”可知,人们开始写涂鸦日记是处于追求日记完美的压力。故选C。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段“In a video, creator@oakandbee said this style of writing has completely changed their approach to journaling. “I literally just connect all the words together and scribble it down, ” they said. “I’m not crossing any Ts or Xs. I’m not dotting any Is. And I’m not using any punctuation (标点) . The words are all connected.”(在一段视频中,creator@oakandbee表示,这种写作风格完全改变了他们写日记的方式。“我只是把所有的单词连在一起,然后草草地写下来,”他们说。“我没有越过任何T或X。我没有点I。我没有使用任何标点符号。这些词都是相连的。”)”可知,通过具体例子说明涂鸦日记的核心特点——无格式、快速书写,第4段提到了creator@oakandbee的评论是为了呈现涂鸦日记的特点。故选C。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“This technique releases stress from your nervous system as you put it all onto paper.(当你把这些都写在纸上时,这种方法可以释放你神经系统的压力)”可知,涂鸦日记有助于情绪释放。故选A。 根据最后一段“If scribble journaling helps, remind yourself that this isn’t a journal for storing important or sweet memories. That can happen in another notebook or a junk journal. Allow this one to be purely about scribbles — a place where you can let it all out.(如果涂鸦日记有帮助,提醒自己这不是用来记录重要或甜蜜记忆的日记。这可以发生在另一个笔记本或垃圾日志中。允许这个地方纯粹是关于涂鸦的——一个你可以尽情宣泄的地方)”结合文章主要说明了因为追求日记完美的压力导致人们放弃了写日记。而涂鸦日记可以随心所欲地快速、不经思考、不清晰地书写,有助于缓解压力。可知,B选项“写涂鸦日记来缓解压力”最符合文章标题。故选B。 D Large language models (LLMs) work well because they're so large. But this power comes at a cost. Training a model with hundreds of billions of parameters (参数) takes huge computational resources. A single query (查询) to ChatGPT consumes about 10 times as much energy as a single Google search. In response, some researchers are now shifting to small language models (SLMs) . IBM, Google, Microsoft and OpenAI have all recently released small language models (SLMs) that use only a few billion parameters. Small models are not used as general-purpose tools like their larger cousins. But they can do well in specific, narrowly defined tasks, such as summarizing conversations, answering patient questions as a health care chatbot and gathering data in smart devices. “For many tasks, an 8 billion parameter model is actually pretty good, ” said Zico Kolter, a computer scientist at Carnegie Mellon University. They can also run on a laptop or cellphone, instead of a huge data center. Large models often extract raw training data from the Internet, and this data can be disorganized, messy and hard to process. But these large models can then generate a high-quality data set that can be used to train a small model. The approach adopted by the researchers gets the larger model to effectively pass on its training, like a teacher giving lessons to a student. “The reason why SLMs achieve excellent performance is that they use those data instead of the messy stuff, ” Kolter said. Researchers have also explored ways to create small models by starting with large ones and trimming them down. One method, known as pruning, was inspired by a real-life neural (神经的) network — the human brain, which gains efficiency. Pruning can help researchers fine-tune a small language model for a particular task or environment. Smaller models offer an inexpensive way to test novel ideas. Fewer parameters may increase their transparent reasoning. “Small models allow researchers to experiment with lower risks. ” said Leshem Choshen, an MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab scientist. 32. What advantage does SLMs have over LLMs according to the first two paragraphs? A. Consuming less energy. B. Serving more purposes. C. Taking huger resources. D. Using more parameters. 33. What does the underlined word “They” in paragraph 3 refer to? A. Large models. B. Smart devices. C. Small models. D. Huge computational resources. 34. What makes SLMs perform well according to paragraph 4? A. Messy raw data. B. High-quality data. C. Basic training. D. Effective communication. 35. What is Leshem Choshen's attitude towards SLMs? A Indifferent. B. Cautious. C. Favourable. D. Critical. A 33. C 34. B 35. 根据第一段“A single query (查询) to ChatGPT consumes about 10 times as much energy as a single Google search.(对 ChatGPT 的一次查询所消耗的能量大约是一次谷歌搜索的 10 倍)”以及第 二 段 “In response, some researchers are now shifting to small language models (SLMs).(作为回应,一些研究人员现在正转向小语言模型(SLMs))”可知,大语言模型能耗高,而研究人员因能耗问题转向小语言模型,说明小语言模型能耗更低。故选A。 根据第三段“Small models are not used as general-purpose tools like their larger cousins. But they can do well in specific, narrowly defined tasks, such as summarizing conversations, answering patient questions as a health care chatbot and gathering data in smart devices. “For many tasks, an 8 billion parameter model is actually pretty good,” said Zico Kolter, a computer scientist at Carnegie Mellon University. They can also run on a laptop or cellphone, instead of a huge data center.(小模型不像它们的大模型同类那样被用作通用工具。 根据第四段“Large models often extract raw training data from the Internet, and this data can be disorganized, messy and hard to process. But these large models can then generate a high-quality data set that can be used to train a small model. The approach adopted by the researchers gets the larger model to effectively pass on its training, like a teacher giving lessons to a student. “The reason why SLMs achieve excellent performance is that they use those data instead of the messy stuff, ” Kolter said.(大模型通常从互联网上提取原始训练数据,而这些数据可能是杂乱无章、难以处理的。但这些大模型随后可以生成一个高质量的数据集,可用于训练小模型。研究人员采用的方法让大模型有效地传递其训练成果,就像老师给学生上课一样。科尔特说:“小语言模型取得优异性能的原因是它们使用的是那些数据,而不是那些杂乱的数据”)”可知,小语言模型表现好是因为使用了大模型生成的高质量数据。故选B。 【35题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Smaller models offer an inexpensive way to test novel ideas. Fewer parameters may increase their transparent reasoning. “Small models allow researchers to experiment with lower risks. ” said Leshem Choshen, an MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab scientist.(更小的模型提供了一种低成本的方式来测试新想法。 An individual’s goals are very personal. However, his love for the ocean nearly cost him his life. Eight years ago, Ben was caught in a powerful rip current (离岸流) and swept far from shore, his wild struggles against the current leaving him worn out and struggling to breathe. Just as he was about to go under, a stranger rescued him, teaching him a valuable lesson: “Don’t panic. Ride the current out, and you’ll be okay.” That near-death experience shaped Ben’s life. Now, at nineteen, he worked as a lifeguard at Wayside Beach, determined to protect others from the dangers he had faced. Despite his efforts, many visitors ignored his warnings about rip currents, brushing them off as unimportant. One hot summer day, the weather service issued a high-risk warning for rip currents, and Ben spent the day tense and watchful, scanning the water for any signs of trouble. He posted warnings at his lifeguard station and tried to educate visitors about the dangers, but most were more interested in enjoying their vacation than listening to safety advice. As the sun began to set, Ben prepared to end his shift. Just as he was packing up, a man named David Pew approached, his eleven-year-old son walking behind him. Pew was angry, demanding to know why the beach “closed” so early. Ben explained that swimming without lifeguards was unsafe, especially with the strong rip currents. “Rip currents?” Pew repeated and shook his head, dismissing Ben’s warnings as unnecessary rules. “The water looks fine to me,” he said, his tone clearly covering his determination to enjoy the beach with his son. Ben tried to remain calm, but Pew’s dismissive attitude frustrated him. “Enjoy the beach,” Ben said finally. As he walked to his car, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something might go wrong. Ben had just settled into his car when he saw Pew’s son running toward him, his face pale with fear. “My dad’s in trouble!” the boy cried. “The water’s carrying him out!” Paragraph 1: Upon hearing this, Ben’s heart raced. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: The next morning, Pew and his son approached Ben, offering to join him in his efforts. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 Upon hearing this, Ben’s heart raced. Grabbing a rescue tube, he dashed to the shoreline and found Pew was barely visible among the waves. Without hesitation, Ben plunged into the sea, pushed through the surging current and managed to grasp Pew. “Hold on!” Ben shouted, securing the rescue tube around Pew’s chest. Drawing on his previous training, Ben stayed calm, guiding Pew to the shore with steady strokes. Finally, Ben dragged Pew onto the sand as he collapsed, coughing and trembling. Pew’s son rushed over, tears streaming down his face. Pew’s voice shook as he whispered, “Thank you. I should have listened.” The next morning, Pew and his son approached Ben, offering to join him in his efforts. “We owe you more than thanks,” Pew said. “We want to help.” True to his promise, Pew stood alongside Ben that day, sharing his story with beachgoers. His experience struck a chord, and visitors listened intently. Meanwhile, Pew’s son eagerly handed out safety leaflets, urging others to be cautious. For the first time, Ben saw genuine awareness in visitors’ eyes. As the days passed, the beach, once filled with dismissive glances, now echoed with concern and respect. Through one act of courage, Ben not only saved a life but also ignited a ripple of change. 词汇激活 行为类 ①抓起:grab/seize ②急忙:dash to/rush to ③叫喊:shout/yell 情绪类 ①勇敢:courage/bravery ②轻视:dismissive/ disparaging 【点睛】[高分句型1] Grabbing a rescue tube, he dashed to the shoreline and found Pew was barely visible among the waves. Here, we will share everything you need to know from how to get there to tips for a great experience. B. B In the city of Dhaka, Azharul Islam Khan is developing a growing community of plant enthusiasts, one video at a time. 24. Why are Azharul’s videos popular among busy viewers? A. They are quick and educational. B. They are long and imaginative. C. They are formal and typical. D. They are exciting and entertaining. 25. What is paragraph 3 mainly about concerning Azharul’s videos? A. Their features. B. Their functions. C. Their significance. D. Their origins. 26. What does Azharul emphasize in his videos? A. Creating engaging short lessons. B. Conducting scientific research. C. Preserving global plant diversity. D. Paying attention to ecological balance. 27. What message does this passage convey? A. Education ensures good life. B. Passion may drive people to inspire others. C. Digital media are gaining popularity. D. Community spirit boosts sustainability. C Journaling sounds so romantic in theory. You sit at a desk grab a favorite pen, and fill a notebook with rich thoughts and ideas. C. The stress to pursue perfection in journaling. Scribble Journaling to Restore Confidence D Large language models (LLMs) work well because they're so large. C Small models. D. Huge computational resources. 34. What makes SLMs perform well according to paragraph 4? A. Messy raw data. B. High-quality data. C. Basic training. D. Effective communication. 35 What is Leshem Choshen's attitude towards SLMs? A. Indifferent. B. Cautious. C. Favourable. D. Critical. An individual’s goals are very personal. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: The next morning Pew and his son approached Ben, offering to join him in his efforts. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$第一节听下面5段对话。 Can you fix the date for us to meet with nick? This is a question that causes disagreement among many animal experts. Some, we may just call them a group, a believe that placing animals in a zoo does harm to them. These people think that all animals should be protected from being hunted too much and left in their native land. They also advise people to be educated to know more about animals in the wild. Other experts of group b think differently. They say that modern zoo s are designed very closely to the natural environment. One of their strongest arguments is that certain species, such as the panda from china and the White tiger from india, are not only protected from uncontrolled killing, but can give babies under protection, and in that way, they may be saved from dying out. Okay, that's all from me, and you're expected to express your opinions on this question next class. Are those is necessary, or are they only bad to the animals?
