First from a distance, Inhotim looks like typical Brazilian countryside, but as you get closer, you notice something a bit unusu- al. There are tourists walking through the fields and gardens! This beautiful place started as a farm and for many years only farmers lived here. But that al changed in the 1990s when bilion- aire Bernardo Paz decided to use the space for something very different. He created a “Disney- land” for art lovers! Today, people travel from around the world and look at the art. The spaces of Inhotim include more than 500 sculptures by Brazilian and international artists. As wel as being important culturaly, it is realy important for the local area because Inhotim cre- ates a lot of jobs — 1,000 people work here in the museum, gardens and restaurants. Although it is quite far from the usual tourist spots of Brazil, it is now a very successful and popular out- door museum. 21.C 22.C 23.B 24.D 25.A 26.B 27.D 28.C 29.D 30.B 31.C 32.B 33.A 34.C 35.A 36.D 37.E 38.B 39.G 40.C 41.C 42.D 43.C 44.A 45.A 46.B 47.C 48.C 49.D 50.B 51.B 52.A 53.B 54.D 55.A 56.Essentialy 57.mixed 58.is 59.to coat 60.golden 61.or 62.with 63.an 64.who/that 65.traditions How much is the shirt? Here are four impressive examples of nature reclaiming(利用) our world for itself with amazing results. Houtouwan, China It lies on the island of Shengshan Town on the furthermost edge of a group of islands. The on- YT7 英语试卷 第3 页(共8页) ly way to get there is by private boat, or by bus, and then by ship. Its isolation(隔绝) was one of the prime factors leading to the abandonment of the vilage in the 1990s. Now, its wals and streets become green with overgrowth. Spreepark, Germany Spreepark was closed in 2001 and the local plant life soon got to work. Structures in use since the park originaly opened in 1969 were quickly covered by leaves. Now, an initiative aims to bring the site back to life. Valone dei Mulini, Italy Its high humidity(湿度) encouraged a microclimate perfect for plant growth. As the aban- doned buildings fel apart, the ruins and their surroundings became completely overgrown. Photo- graphs taken of the site in 2006 went widespread online. Beng Mealea, Cambodia Though constructed around 900 years ago, this grand temple is far less frequented than its more famous neighbour, Angkor Wat. In 2020, it was submitted for consideration as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Natural decline, among other factors, has caused serious damage to the site, alowing the surrounding jungle to overrun and combine with it. 21.What mainly caused Houtouwan􀆳s abandonment? A.Its wet climate. B.The overgrowth of plants. C.Its separate location. D.The aging of wals and streets. 22.Which place once became popular online? A.Houtouwan. B.Spreepark. C.Valone dei Mulini. D.Beng Mealea. 23.What feature do the four places share? A.They are World Heritage Sites. B.They are being taken back by nature. C.They are nearly 1,000 years old. D.They are regaining their original state. B My mother used to take me to my grandparents􀆳 in Belgium during the school holidays. While I would play chess with my grandfather, he would tel me stories about growing up, faling in love, and traveling around the world. I didn􀆳t realize the importance of preserving memories until my grandfather passed away, which ultimately changed my outlook on remembering our loved ones and the stories we share. I thought about solutions to helping other people record the precious memories for those they love — before it􀆳s too late. So I began matching ghostwriters (代笔者) to clients to help them write a book as smoothly and beautifuly as possible, and StoryTerrace was born. Since then, we have explored the power of stories and their ability to connect us with our past and make sense of the present. It has been documented that the increased family connection is sig- nificantly linked to less loneliness. Learning more about one􀆳s family history, however, has been linked to boosting emotional health, increasing compassion and providing a deeper sense of cultures and traditions. What we have found through our own research is that so many of us have missed out on the opportunity to explore our origins. 56 percent of Brits agreed that much of their family history is lost because they are no longer able to speak with the person who knows the most about it. 51 per- cent expressed regret as they wished they could tel their younger self to document their family􀆳s life story, feeling that most of it had been forgotten. When it comes to teling these stories, many don􀆳t know where to begin. We have seen numerous times when people come to us with random journal entries and notes YT7 英语试卷 第4 页(共8页) from over the years, and these can be developed into a wonderful work of art that can be passed down to generations to come. Half of the projects we see at StoryTerrace are heritage stories, with family occupying a domi- nant theme for most stories. Alongside this, common themes we see are of course love, overco- ming chalenges, settling in new surroundings and so on. However, family is a thread that always ties these together. 24.What does StoryTerrace do? A.It boosts the mood of your family members. B.It gives treatment to people with mental ilness. C.It links people from different cultures together. D.It helps turn your beloved one􀆳s stories into a book. 25.What does the author intend to show by listing the numbers in paragraph 4? A.Why StoryTerrace matters. B.How StoryTerrace functions. C.What StoryTerrace focuses on. D.Where StoryTerrace makes your story. 26.What can you infer about StoryTerrace from the last paragraph? A.It is part of the national heritage. B.Its stories are mostly about family. C.It dominates half of the market. D.Its stories gain much popularity. 27.What is the best title for the text? A.Family Stories Worth Teling B.Create Your Own Storybooks C.Documents of Family History D.Preserve Memories with StoryTerrace C Beneath a castle of 80-foot cliffs is a 3-mile stretch of sand and tide pools — a California tourism poster if there ever was one. Nothing disturbs the perfect, sunny view, except — once you notice them — microplastic particles. But you have to look close — on-your-hands-and-knees — to see one. And once you do, you see another and another — so many that you may not think of this or any beach in the same way again. These tiny preproduction plastic bals that manufacturers melt down to form everything have been escaping from factories, container ships, trains, trucks and escaping public notice for decades. The 2-to-3-milimeter multicolored bals are a subset (子集) of microplastic particles less than 5 milimeters in size. Microplastic particles accumulate where water takes them, and they􀆳ve been found on shorelines of every continent. Mark McReynolds is an environmental scientist who􀆳s now joined a global movement studying their trail into the environment. Establishing a baseline count of the presence of microplastic parti- cles — and, more broadly, any microplastics — is the focus of Dr McReynolds􀆳 scientific study here. Charting the count and noting tides, currents and weather conditions wil show if amounts are increasing, and perhaps wil show that amounts are at what rate and why. That knowledge, he says, can inform solutions to plastic polution such as regulation of their use. “What are you doing? Picking up trash?” asks a steady stream of beach walkers whenever Dr McReynolds􀆳 crew walks onto the beach and sets up equipment. These are teachable moments for Dr McReynolds. One recent morning he told some beach walkers how microplastic particles are believed to ab- sorb toxic chemicals, and — because they resemble fish eggs — are eaten by fish and birds and en- ter the food chain. Almost right on time, a seagul hopped up to a plastic-coated photo of micro- plastic particles and hungrily pecked(啄食) at it. Wil his work help save the world? Dr McReynolds waves a finger at that idea, “I won􀆳t ever use that word — I won􀆳t save the world from this polution problem. Protect it, yes. We want to YT7 英语试卷 第5 页(共8页) take care of it.” 28.What do we know about microplastic particles from paragraph 1? A.They are too smal to be seen. B.They are products of plastic bals. C.They have been ignored for long. D.They can be made into almost nothing. 29.What does Dr McReynolds focus on in his study? A.Classifying plastic particles into subsets. B.Finding solutions to plastic polution. C.Charting the tides and currents of oceans. D.Creating data colection for microplastics. 30.What does a seagul􀆳s pecking at the picture prove? A.The interesting teachable moments. B.The harmful effect of microplastic particles. C.The spread of poisonous chemicals. D.The beauty of the photo of microplastic particles. 31.What does Dr McReynolds expect of his work? A.To educate the public. B.To provide solutions. C.To preserve the earth. D.To save the world. D An innovative creation wil help transform treating diseases. Scientists at Tufts University and Harvard University􀆳s Wyss Institute developed tiny biological robots “Anthrobots” from human cels. These Anthrobots possess the astonishing ability to move across surfaces and have exhibited a remarkable healing(治愈) effect by stimulating neuron(神经元) growth in damaged lab dish re- gions. This discovery serves as a crucial stepping stone toward the researchers􀆳 vision of employing biological robots as innovative tools for healing, and disease treatment. This breakthrough originates from earlier research conducted by Michael Levin, Professor of Biology at Tufts University School of Arts & Sciences, and Josh Bongard at the University of Ver- mont. They once created biological robots caled Xenobots from frog cels, capable of various func- tions including self-copying, for a limited number of cycles. However, it was unclear if biological robots could be formed using cels from other species. In their latest study, Levin and Tufts PhD student Gizem Gumuskaya discovered that Anthro- bots can indeed be crafted from adult human cels, with capabilities outperforming those observed in Xenobots. Anthrobots showed the ability to move across a surface covered in human neurons grown in a lab dish, facilitating new growth to fil gaps caused by cel layer damage. “It is extremely interesting and completely unexpected that normal patients􀆳 cels, without changing their DNA, can move on their own and encourage neuron growth across a region of dam- age. We􀆳re now looking at how the healing mechanism works, and asking what else these con- structs can do,” says Levin. One of the main advantages of using human cels lies in constructing biological robots from a patient􀆳s cels to perform healing tasks without leading to immune(免疫的) responses. These An- throbots naturaly break down after a few weeks and can be easily absorbed into the body once their function is complete. Anthrobots can only survive under specific laboratory conditions, posing no risk of exposure or unintended spread outside the controled environment. They do not reproduce, have no genetic changes, and therefore carry no risk of developing beyond safety measures. 32.What do Anthrobots do in healing patients? YT7 英语试卷 第6 页(共8页) A.Replace human cels. B.Facilitate neuron growth. C.Create new human cels. D.Move across tissue surfaces. 33.What does the underlined word “crafted” in paragraph 3 mean? A.Made. B.Divided. C.Copied. D.Designed. 34.What is one of the main advantages of Anthrobots? A.They can be easily created from patients􀆳 cels. B.They can be used in many controled environments. C.They can avoid causing immune responses. D.They can have genetic changes when necessary. 35.Which magazine is the text most probably taken from? A.Advanced Science. B.Sportsnet Magazine. C.Art in America. D.National Geographic. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选 项。 Do you want to live in a healthy lifestyle? Practicing yoga is one of the best choices. Making Weight Loss Last 39 . This can be attained through improvements in sadness tolerance, mindfulness and self -sympathy. There standing in the halway was Frank, the boy who en- joyed making fun of anyone at any given moment. Frank was tal and strong, so few of his victims stood up to him. Michael hated the idea that Frank always got away with his wrongdoing. Yet like most kids who were picked on, he just took it quietly and waited for the unpleasant to pass. Frank walked up, his eyes locked on the books in Michael􀆳s arms. When they met, Frank stopped unexpectedly, “Hey, let me see those books!” Some students watched as Michael held out the books he was carrying, trying not to give away his nervousness. Frank took a book, looked inside for a second, and then threw the book at Michael, who dropped al the other books. “Hey, those are school property,” Frank barked. “Be careful!” Then he walked away, laughing loudly. Michael, his cheeks turning red, half kicked the falen books. Suddenly a hand picked up one book. “You look like you could use an aly(盟友)”, a friendly voice said. It was Ramon, the most athletic boy in the high school. Michael couldn􀆳t believe Ramon was stopping to help him as they barely spoke. “Thanks,” Michael sighed with relief. “It􀆳s confusing. I don􀆳t know what his problem is.” “Wel, as I see it,” Ramon said, “you need to find a way to end this.” Michael nodded, stuck for what to say. Ramon continued, “You know my grandmother used to tel me whenever I had a problem with someone, ‘You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar(醋).’” Looking puzzled, Michael asked, “What does that mean?” “It means kindness may be more effective than anger,” Ramon explained. “Can you just tel Frank to stop picking on me?” Michael suggested. “That􀆳s vinegar,” Ramon laughed as he walked away. “Try honey instead.” Ramon􀆳s words left Michael thinking. The next school day brought Michael􀆳s usual pain. There stood Frank, and Michael knew it would be just seconds before he had to face him in the middle of the hal. Frank came nearer, book in hand. 注意:1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式作答。 Then, suddenly, the unexpected happened. Michael bent down and quickly picked up Frank􀆳s books on the floor.
