W:
Everyone,
do
you
know
why
we
say
“under
the
weather”
when
were
sick?
That
just
sounds
strange,
right?
To
find
out,
I
turned
to
a
publication
caled
Farmers
Almanac.
Farmers
Almanac
is
not
realy
meant
for
language
learners.
It
was
founded
in
1818
to
help
A-
merican
farmers
understand
more
about
the
natural
world
around
them
as
they
grow
and
har-
vest
their
crops.
That
is
stil
its
purpose
today.
The
Farmers
Almanac
website
tels
about
al
things
weather-related.
To
explain
“under
the
weather”,
the
website
published
the
writing
of
Richard
Lederer,
a
word
expert.
Lederer
notes
that
the
expression
“under
the
weather”
comes
from
the
language
of
sailors.
Imagine
being
on
a
boat
on
rough
seas.
The
waves
continualy
force
the
boat
up
and
down
and
side
to
side.
This
continual
movement
can
make
many
people
feel
seasick.
He
writes
that
“on
the
high
seas
when
the
wind
would
start
to
blow
hard
and
the
waves
became
rough,
crewmen
and
travelers
would
go
below
deck”.
They
actualy
went
“under
the
weather”
to
find
safety,
shelter
and
to
avoid
becoming
seasick.
Years
ago,
only
sailors
de-
scribed
seasick
sailors
as
being
“under
the
weather”.
But
today,
we
use
this
expression
anytime
when
someone
is
not
feeling
wel.

C
Concrete
has
served
as
the
foundation
stone
of
the
construction
industry
for
hundreds
of
years.
However,
the
process
of
producing
concrete
is
one
of
the
most
environmentaly
unfriendly
proces-
ses
in
the
world.
In
the
process,
not
only
is
carbon
dioxide(二氧化碳)released
into
the
air
by
the
energy
used
to
heat
the
limestone,
but
the
limestone
itself
also
gives
out
a
huge
amount
of
the
ele-
ment.
Luckily,
a
number
of
start-ups
throughout
the
world
are
using
creative
thinking
to
make
the
construction
industry
a
whole
lot
more
friendly
for
the
planet.
A
Canadian
company
caled
CarbonCure,
has
found
a
way
to
inject(注射)concrete
with
carbon
dioxide
itself.
Not
only
does
this
trap
the
carbon
dioxide
into
the
concrete,
keeping
it
from
running
away
into
the
atmosphere,
but
it
also
creates
a
super
strong
material
caled
calcium
carbonate,
which
reduces
the
total
amount
of
concrete
that
needs
to
be
used.
California-based
Brimstone,
is
creating
carbon
negative
concrete
by
doing
away
with
lime-
stone
entirely
and
instead
using
silicate
rock,
a
material
that
does
not
release
carbon
dioxide
when
heated.
Instead,
the
process
produces
magnesium(镁),
which
absorbs
carbon
dioxide,
as
the
basis
for
their
concrete.
Additionaly,
researchers
at
Australias
RMIT
University
have
recently
released
a
study
show-
ing
that
adding
coffee
grounds
instead
of
sand
to
concrete
could
make
it
much
stronger,
reducing
both
the
amount
of
sand
used,
as
wel
as
the
amount
of
concrete
that
would
need
to
be
used
in
the
final
product.
The
biggest
barrier
at
this
point
is
convincing
members
of
the
industry
that
the
new
types
of
concrete
are
safe
to
be
used,
according
to
Stacy
Smedley,
director
of
a
nonprofit
focusing
on
decar-
bonizing
construction.
Hopefuly
these
new
solutions
to
the
environmental
problems
of
concrete
wil
soon
be
widely
adopted.
Given
the
significant
part
the
construction
industry
has
in
releasing
carbon
dioxide
into
the
atmosphere,
great
improvements
can
be
made
when
more
environmentaly-friendly
materials
are
used.
28.What
is
the
environmental
issue
associated
with
traditional
concrete
production?
A.The
high
demand
for
energy. B.The
processing
of
waste
materials.
YT1 英语试卷 第5 页(共8页)
C.The
mass
release
of
carbon
dioxide. D.The
use
of
non-renewable
resources.
29.How
does
CarbonCure
deal
with
the
environmental
impact
of
concrete
production?
A.By
using
silicate
rock
as
the
basis.
B.By
putting
carbon
dioxide
into
concrete.
C.By
replacing
sand
with
coffee
grounds.
D.By
absorbing
carbon
dioxide
with
magnesium.
30.According
to
Smedley,
what
is
the
major
chalenge
facing
these
solutions?
A.Difficulty
in
making
profits.
B.Convincing
the
public
of
the
convenience.
C.Lack
of
funding
for
research.
D.Removing
the
industry
members
safety
concern.
31.What
is
the
authors
purpose
in
writing
the
text?
A.To
promote
an
alternative
to
concrete.
B.To
advocate
environmental
protection.
C.To
introduce
new
ways
to
produce
concrete.
D.To
emphasize
the
significance
of
creativity.
D
Humans
have
sailed
the
oceans
surfaces
for
milennia,
but
their
depths
remain
effectively
un-
charted.
Only
about
a
quarter
of
the
seafloor
has
been
mapped
at
high
resolution.
Maps
of
most
re-
gions
display
only
approximate
depths
and
often
miss
entire
underwater
mountains
or
canyons(峡
谷).
So
researchers
have
introduced
some
deep-diving
experts:
Elephant
Seals.
Scientists
have
been
placing
trackers
on
them
around
Antarctica
for
years,
gathering
data
on
ocean
temperature.
For
a
new
study,
the
researchers
compared
these
divers
location
and
depth
data
with
some
of
the
less
detailed
seafloor
maps.
They
spotted
places
where
the
seals
dove
deeper
than
should
have
been
possible
according
to
the
maps
—
meaning
the
existing
depth
estimates
were
inaccurate.
In
eastern
Antarcticas
Vincennes
Bay,
the
diving
seals
helped
the
scientists
find
a
large,
hid-
den
underwater
canyon
of
more
than
a
mile
in
depth.
An
Australian
research
ship
caled
the
RSV
Nuyina
later
measured
the
canyons
exact
depth
using
sonar(声纳),
and
the
researchers
have
pro-
posed
naming
their
find
the
Mirounga-Nuyina
Canyon
—
honoring
both
the
ship
and
the
involved
Elephant
Seals,
genus
Mirounga.
But
seals
cant
chart
the
entire
ocean
floor.
The
trackers
used
in
the
study
could
pinpoint
a
seals
geographical
location
only
within
about
1.5
miles,
which
alows
for
useful
but
not
exactly
high-resolution
data.
Plus,
because
the
seals
dont
always
dive
to
the
bottom
of
the
ocean,
they
can
reveal
only
where
the
bottom
is
deeper
than
in
existing
maps
—
not
shalower.
Deep-sea
re-
search
experts
suggest
improving
on
these
data
by
using
more
precise
tracking
devices
and
analy-
zing
the
seals
diving
patterns
to
determine
whether
they
have
reached
the
seafloor
or
simply
stopped
going
down.
The
potential
use
of
the
current
seal-dive
data
is
to
gather
information
about
the
deep
ocean
around
Antarctica,
specificaly
regarding
the
location
and
depth
of
seafloor
canyons.
This
data
can
be
valuable
for
predicting
how
Antarcticas
ice
wil
melt.
By
understanding
the
presence
and
char-
acteristics
of
these
canyons,
scientists
can
better
assess
how
warmer
water
from
the
deep
ocean
flows
towards
the
ice
along
the
continents
coast.
This
knowledge
is
crucial
for
accurately
modeling
and
predicting
the
future
behavior
of
Antarcticas
ice
sheets
and
their
contribution
to
the
sea-level
rise.
32.How
did
the
researchers
find
out
the
depth
inaccuracies?

gathering
temperature
data. B.With

the
trackers
placed
on
canyons.
33.Why
is
the

of
Mirounga-Nuyina
Canyon
mentioned?
A.To
provide
more
reference
data. B.To

a
new
topic.
C.To
give
supporting
evidence. D.To
make
a

The
road
to
learning
how
to
take
personal
responsibility
can
be
a
difficult
one,
but
starting
simple
realy
works.
36
Here
is
some
advice
you
need
to
folow.
●Focus
on
the
basics
of
your
journey.
Just
like
the
ocean,
our
life
has
many
ups
and
downs.
If
you
start
building
a
solid
sailboat,
you
can
withstand
(经受住)
the
weather.
The
solid
boat
represents
your
basic
needs:
safety,
self
-esteem
(自尊)
and
connections
with
others.
37
●Open
your
sails
and
be
wiling
to
fail.
Do
not
lay
too
much
stress
on
the
destination.
Just
head
in
the
right
direction.
38
Youre
supposed
to
take
the
courage
to
realy
open
your
sails.
When
you
devote
yourself
to
what
you
are
doing,
you
wil
forget
about
your
insecurities
and
worries.
●
39
As
you
sail
through
life,
are
you
making
goals
and
plans,
or
are
you
simply
letting
things
hap-
pen
and
watching
life
pass?
Working
on
goal
setting
enables
you
to
measure
your
progress
and
take
responsibility
for
al
you
have
and
havent
done
to
achieve
goals.
●Live
in
the
moment.
As
youre
moving
through
the
ocean
of
your
life,
are
you
realy
concentrating
on
each
present
moment,
or
are
your
thoughts
set
on
the
past
and
future?
Do
you
complain
about
mistakes
others
made
that
forced
you
into
a
difficult
position?
40
Start
taking
personal
responsibility
for
each
thought
and
emotion
that
passes
through
you.
A.
Reach
your
goals.
B.
Move
forward
with
intention.
C.
Then
begin
to
tackle
the
more
difficult
aspects.
D.
So
make
sure
that
they
are
being
met.
E.
Stop
blaming
others
or
situations
if
you
realy
want
to
enjoy
each
moment.
F.
Everyone
can
edge
closer
to
that
stage
through
taking
personal
responsibility.
G.
You
must
enjoy
the
sail
by
finding
purpose
and
folowing
that
desire
to
explore.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I
spent
15
years
trying
to
make
it
in
the
music
industry.
When
I
was
a
teenager,
I
did
any
odd
job
to
afford
time
in
a
recording
studio.
I
knocked
at
managers
doors
and
sent
out
demo
(录音样
带)
after
demo,
but
I
got
nowhere.
In
2010,
aged
27,
I
was
doing
a
job
in
a
restaurant
when
I
wrote
a
song
caled
Dream
Goes
On.
It
was
a
song
about
never
giving
up.
I
just
let
out
al
of
my
frustrations
at
the
keyboard.
Over
the
next
five
years,
the
music
career
never
materialized
but
I
persisted.
Then,
in
2019,
I
uploaded
Dream
Goes
On
to
a
music-sharing
website.
I
just
wanted
someone
to
notice
my
music.
Later
that
year,
I
received
an
email
out
of
the
blue
from
Music
World
from
R.O.
Korea,
re-
questing
a
license
for
the
song.
They
had
chosen
my
song
from
the
milions
on
the
music-sharing
website
for
a
theme
tune
for
one
of
their
shows.
I
was
amazed
and
negotiated
a
contract
for
$5,
000
for
the
use
of
the
song
and
signed
up
straight
away.
I
was
pretty
excited,
but
didnt
think
any-
thing
more
would
come
of
it,
so
I
focused
on
my
job
in
the
restaurant.
This
February,
Music
World
organized
a
musical
festival
in
Seoul
and
my
song
Dream
Goes
On
was
also
chosen
as
the
theme
tune
for
the
festival.
I
watched
on
the
Internet
as
my
song
was
being
played
to
a
huge
crowd
of
people.
It
was
amazing.
After
three
days
of
the
festival,
I
was
contacted
by
Music
World
and
they
asked
if
Id
like
to
go
to
Seoul
to
sing
Dream
Goes
On
in
a
concert.
They
flew
me
out
there
the
next
day.
I
was
welcomed
like
a
celebrity
—
everyone
I
met
thought
I
was
a

in
England.
I
had
to
break
the
news
to
them
that
I
wasnt

注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
I
