Inside were bamboo strips (竹片) and silk from her grandfather, a master lantern maker. “Our family art has lasted since 1825,” he said, touching her shoulder gently. “Now it’s your turn to carry on the tradition.” Lin looked at the materials and felt a mix of excitement and worry. The first week of learning was difficult. Bamboo splinters (竹剌) hurt her fingers as she tried to shape the strips. “Why must I learn this old work?” she cried angrily. Her grandfather didn’t say anything. Instead, he silently lit an old lantern. Its painted rabbit was gathering plants under the moon, just like in the Dunhuang wall paintings. The soft light of the lantern seemed to tell a story of the past. At the Mid-Autumn Festival, Lin walked through the streets and found children not looking at traditional lanterns. They were more interested in the bright, colorful toys. An idea came to her. She decided to mix the old with the new. Lin cleverly added LED lights, creating dark shapes that moved with the wind. She also programmed the lantern so that touching the rabbit’s foot would start reading a Tang poem. Lin’s “Smart Rabbit Lantern” was a hit. Children gathered around, amazed by the dark shapes and the sound of the ancient poem. At the end of the festival, Lin’s lantern won the first prize. Her grandfather smiled proudly and said, “Tradition is like the moon–it shines brightest when reflecting new light. By adding modern parts, you’ve given our art a new life.” Lin felt a sense of success. She realized that traditions could be kept and refreshed at the same time. She had found a way to keep the past alive. 29. What did Lin’s grandfather give her as her 14th birthday gift? A. A Tang poem. B. A set of LED lights. C. Materials for lantern making. D. An old traditional lantern. 30. What is the correct order according to the passage? ①Lin’ s “Smart Rabbit Lantern” won the first prize at the Mid-Autumn Festival. ②Lin added LED lights and programmed the lantern to read a Tang poem. ③Lin received a gift from her grandfather. ④Lin felt excited but worried about learning the family art. A. ③-④-②-① B. ③-②-①-④ C. ④-②-①-③ D. ④-③-②-① 31. How did Lin show creativity in the story? A. She learned lantern making for only a week. B. She used bamboo and silk from her grandfather. C. She drew rabbits from Dunhuang wall paintings. D. She added LED lights and poems that start when touched. 32. What lesson did Lin learn from her experience with lantern making? A. Traditional skills are too difficult for young people to learn. B. Modern technology should take the place of traditional arts. C. It is important to follow in your family’s footsteps without questioning. D. Mixing tradition with modern technology can create something exciting. C 30. A 31. D 32. 根据“On her 14th birthday, Lin received a heavy box. This scene was filmed by drones in January at Atka Bay, Antarctica. These videos were shown as part of a documentary series called Secrets of the Penguins. This jump seems brave but could be dangerous to these young penguins. According to National Geographic, emperor penguins usually raise their babies on sea ice platforms (平台). When these fledglings (幼鸟) are 5 months old, they lose their baby feathers and grow adult feathers, which are waterproof. Not long after, the babies have to begin their first swim in the ocean to hunt for themselves. Normally they just need to jump from the sea ice, which is less than a meter high. However, the fast-melting ice in Antarctica changes the situation. In February 2023, the total area of sea ice reached a record low of 1.91 million square kilometers. “Emperor penguins need sea ice for their raising their young, it’s the stable platform they use to bring up their young,” Peter Fretwell from the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), UK’s national polar research institute, told the BBC. If the ice platform melts or breaks apart before penguin babies develop their waterproof (keep dry in water) feathers, they are more likely to drown or freeze to death. For this reason, emperor penguins are now choosing to raise their babies on the ice shelf, which is firmly connected to the land. As a result, babies must face the challenge of jumping off a high cliff. Michelle LaRue, a scientist at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, told National Geographic that when the baby penguins reach the cliff face, they seem to think, “This doesn’t look like a fun jump, but I guess I have to do it.” Alarmingly, according to Live Science, the decrease in the ice has caused thousands of emperor penguin babies to die in West Antarctica in 2022. That may force more emperors to make their nests on ice shelves, said Fretwell. “It’s heartbreaking to think that the whole species may be gone if climate change continues on the path at the moment,” he added. 33. Why do emperor penguin babies jump off cliffs? A. They want to travel across the ocean to the other side. B. They are trying to avoid being caught by other animals. C. They are celebrating getting their adult feathers which are waterproof. D. They have no other way to enter the water to find their own food. 34 What causes emperor penguins to raise their young on ice shelves? A. Rising sea levels. B. The rapid melting of sea ice. C. More available food for the babies. D. Bigger size of ice shelves. 35. What is the main worry that Fretwell had about emperor penguins? A. They takes less time to raise babies. B. Their skill in finding food on their own. C. The chance that they might disappear forever. D. Their growing need for frozen ocean water. 36. How does the author organize the information in the article? A. By comparing emperor penguins to other animals. B. By describing a problem and explaining its causes and effects. C. By listing the steps emperor penguins take to raise their young. D. By providing a timeline of events in Antarctica. 【答案】33. D 34. B 35. C 36. B 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了由于南极洲海冰快速融化,帝企鹅宝宝不得不从高高的悬崖跳入海中觅食,这一现象背后的原因以及可能带来的影响,呼吁人们关注气候变化对帝企鹅生存的威胁。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Not long after, the babies have to begin their first swim in the ocean to hunt for themselves. Normally they just need to jump from the sea ice, which is less than a meter high.”和第五段“For this reason, emperor penguins are now choosing to raise their babies on the ice shelf, which is firmly connected to the land. As a result, babies must face the challenge of jumping off a high cliff.” 根据第四段“the fast-melting ice in Antarctica changes the situation.”和第五段“Emperor penguins need sea ice for their raising their young…If the ice platform melts or breaks apart before penguin babies develop their waterproof feathers…For this reason, emperor penguins are now choosing to raise their babies on the ice shelf”可知,海冰的快速融化导致帝企鹅选择在冰架上养育幼崽。故选B。 【35题详解】 细节理解题。根据文中“Peter Fretwell…told the BBC…‘It’s heartbreaking to think that the whole species may be gone if climate change continues on the path at the moment,’ he added.”可知,Fretwell主要担心的是如果气候变化继续这样下去,帝企鹅整个物种可能会永远消失。故选C。 【36题详解】 推理判断题。本文首先描述了帝企鹅宝宝从悬崖跳下这一问题,接着解释了海冰融化这一原因,以及海冰融化导致帝企鹅改变养育幼崽地点、幼崽面临危险、数千幼崽死亡等影响;因此,本文是通过描述问题并解释其原因和影响来组织信息的。故选B。 四、还原句子(共4小题,每题1.5分,满分6分) The right way to breathe(呼吸)during exercise Exercising is great for your health-everyone knows this. However, simply exercising isn’t enough. It needs to be done properly. While exercising, making sure your breathing is correct is very important. Naturally, we breathe through our nose. ____37____ Not really. Breathing through your nose has its advantages. Your nose hair acts like an air filter(过滤器). Breathing through your nose also warms and moistens(使……湿润)the air. However, when you exercise, you should always make sure that you are taking in enough oxygen(氧气). You can breathe through your nose while doing lighter exercise like yoga. During more heavy exercise, such as running, it is better to breathe through your mouth. ____38____ However, most people usually take quicker breaths while doing any heavy exercise. ____39____ Quicker breathing is not a proper way of breathing. This can cause dizziness(头晕)and other health problems. In fact, while doing exercise like running, one should breathe in a 3:2 ratio(比率). This means that for the first three steps, the person should be inhaling(吸气)deeply. For the next two steps, the person should be exhaling(呼气)fully. In this way you can take in the largest amount of oxygen. ____40____ While we often breathe through our nose, breathing through our mouth is a good choice as well. Sometimes people use both their nose and mouth to breathe. While doing any exercise, your breaths should be deep, rather than quick. This will help you to burn more fat and keep you fitter. A. Let’s go over the basic points one more time. B. Generally speaking, simply exercising isn’t enough. C. This is one of the most common mistakes that people make while exercising. D. However, do you know the right way to breathe during exercise? E. By doing so, you can take in a higher amount of air and thus oxygen. F. But when you exercise, is breathing through the nose always the best choice? 【答案】37. F 38. E 39. C 40. A 【解析】 【导语】本文介绍了运动时的正确的呼吸方式。 【37题详解】 根据“Naturally, we breathe through our nose.”以及“Not really.”可知,此处应是提出质疑:一直用鼻子呼吸是否好,选项F“但是当你锻炼时,用鼻子呼吸总是最好的选择吗?”符合语境,故选F。 【38题详解】 根据“During more heavy exercise, such as running, it is better to breathe through your mouth.”可知,此处应是说用嘴呼吸的好处,选项E“通过这样做,你可以吸入更多的空气,从而吸入更多的氧气。”符合语境,故选E。 【39题详解】 根据“However, most people usually take quicker breaths while doing any heavy exercise.”以及“Quicker breathing is not a proper way of breathing. This can cause dizziness(头晕)and other health problems.”可知,此处指出这样的呼吸方式是错误的,选项C“这是人们在锻炼时最常犯的错误之一。”符合语境,故选C。 【40题详解】 根据“While we often breathe through our nose, breathing through our mouth is a good choice as well...”可知,本段应是总结上文,A选项“让我们再复习一遍基本要点。”符合语境,故选A。 五、阅读短文,回答问题。每题答案不超过10个单词(共4小题;前3小题每题2分,第4小题3分;满分9分) 阅读短文,然后根据短文内容回答问题。 I have recorded my running by using a running app for some time. Each run I wanted to go a little farther, run a little faster and burn more calories (卡路里). Last night I finished an 8.3-km run in 46 minutes and burnt 468 calories. And my run two days ago was 8.6 km in 46 minutes with 483 calories burnt. This left me feeling disappointed (失望). I became so focused (专注的) on the numbers that I forgot to consider what I got. These small differences in numbers kept me from seeing the bigger picture: how I actually felt after completing my most recent run. Well, honestly, I was exhausted. What good is running just to beat your top score if you don’t even feel good? We should exercise to build our confidence. And working out harder and faster may serve that purpose. But confidence building comes with being able to do more in our daily life, experiencing less pain and more freedom in movement, and feeling good after exercise. Fitness should help us with our quality of life, the ability to sleep, good memory, among other things. Fitness should not just come with the eagerness (渴望) for the success in numbers. When we do exercise, we should value what feels good over what looks or sounds good. Sometimes what serves us and our health is coming home and doing light exercise, like going on a short bike ride. What serves us is simply going to sleep at 9:30 p. m. at night, instead of forcing ourselves to exercise. Apps of this kind are a great way for us to keep an eye on our health. But don’t read into the numbers to the point where you lose out on feeling proud that you are taking care of yourself. So my advice is: when you do physical exercise, make sure you feel good about yourself over feeling good about the numbers. 41. How did the writer feel after comparing the exercise numbers? __________________________________________ 42. What does the writer suggest as the purpose of exercising? __________________________________________ 43. According to the passage, what serves our health at night? __________________________________________ 44. Which is more important when exercising: feeling good about yourself or focusing on the numbers? Why? Write 30 words or more. __________________________________________ 【答案】41. He/She felt disappointed 42. To build confidence and improve quality of life. 43. Going to sleep early instead of forcing exercise. 44. Feeling good about yourself is more important because exercise should enhance well-being, not just focus on numbers. Prioritizing health over metrics leads to sustainable fitness habits 【解析】 【导语】本文主要讲述了作者通过跑步软件记录运动数据时,过度关注数字指标而忽略了运动带来的实际感受。 【41题详解】 根据“This left me feeling disappointed”可知作者对比运动数据后感到失望。故填He/She felt disappointed 【42题详解】 根据“We should exercise to build our confidence”可知作者建议运动的目的是建立自信。故填To build confidence and improve quality of life. 【43题详解】 根据“What serves us is simply going to sleep at 9:30 p. m. at night, instead of forcing ourselves to exercise.”可知早点睡觉而不是强迫锻炼对健康有益。故填Going to sleep early instead of forcing exercise. 【44题详解】 开放性作答,言之合理即可。参考答案为Feeling good about yourself is more important because exercise should enhance well-being, not just focus on numbers. Now I’ll tell you my opinion about the rapid development of AI. The invention of DeepSeek (Kimi) has made AI a hot issue among people in our society. Many people feel worried about the rapid development of AI. But I don’t think so. DeepSeek can help us do many things, like learning foreign languages, designing your trip. But I believe it is only a tool that people have used. So there is no need for us to worry too much about the development of AI. AI will never completely take the place of human beings. Instead, it has many advantages. AI can be used to do dangerous jobs and keep workers safe. For example, the AI snake robots can help look for people alive under the fallen buildings. AI helps scientists to do research in many ways. In my opinion, AI is becoming more and more popular in the future. It will bring us a big surprise and make our lives more convenient. 【解析】 详解】[总体分析] ① 题材:本文是一封电子邮件; ② 时态:时态主要为“一般现在时”; ③ 提示:写作要点已给出,可适当添加细节,并突出写作重点。 [写作步骤] 第一步,首先表明不必过于担心人工智能的发展; 第二步,列举人工智能发展带来的好处; 第三步,谈谈自己对未来人工智能发展的期待。 [亮点词汇] ①feel worried about为……感到担忧 ②take the place of取代 ③be used to do被用于 ④in my opinion在我看来 [高分句型] But I believe it is only a tool that people have used.(定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025年江苏省常州市中考英语第一次模拟测试卷(二) 一、单项选择(共10小题,每题1分,满分10分) 请认真阅读下列各题,从题中所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该选项涂黑。 1. C The Lantern Maker’s Learner On her 14th birthday, Lin received a heavy box. D Hundreds of baby emperor penguins (企鹅) jumped off a 15-meter cliff (悬崖), as high as a five-story building. 34. What causes emperor penguins to raise their young on ice shelves? 四、还原句子(共4小题,每题1.5分,满分6分) The right way to breathe(呼吸)during exercise Exercising is great for your health-everyone knows this. 五、阅读短文,回答问题。每题答案不超过10个单词(共4小题;前3小题每题2分,第4小题3分;满分9分) 阅读短文,然后根据短文内容回答问题。 I have recorded my running by using a running app for some time.
