“Next week is Math Week. I would like each one of you to do a
project. It will be shown at the Math Week exhibition. You could do it
on your own or in a group, ” Mrs. Lee, the math teacher said.
After school, Manu sat in the classroom along with Kevin who was
not as good as Manu at math.
Kevin said, “Manu, shall we work on the math project together?”
Manu said, “Sorry, but I prefer to do it on my own.”

The next day, all the students submitted (提交) their topics for
the math exhibition. Almost all of them worked in a group except Manu.
Kevin's team decided to do Snakes and Ladders, Junaid's team decided to
do a crossword puzzle, and Manu decided to do a magic game.
Manu completed the project by himself and was happy with the
result. The night before the exhibition, he again checked the project to
see if it was working fine. All the lights that were supposed to shine did
not seem to light up at all. Manu was worried because he didn't know
how to fix it. In the end, he had no choice but to take it to school.
At the same time, Kevin's team were working on their project. If
one member got stuck somewhere, the others helped out. It was a sight
of real team work.
Finally, it was time for the Math Week exhibition. All the teams
placed their projects on the table with pride except Manu. Manu was
embarrassed to present his non-working magic game. Then Kevin offered
to help. Luckily, he fixed it just in time for the show. Manu said to

Ⅲ.信息归纳(2024成都成华区二模)
Did you ever look at your parents and wish they were healthier?
You're not the only one. We did a survey of some kids, and the survey
shows that 46% said they worry about their parents' health, 69% of the
kids would like their parents to make changes to be healthier. Maybe
your mum and dad would be surprised to learn that you care about them.
Here are the tips on talking to your parents about their healthy
habits.
14
▲Create a list
Try to remember what got you thinking about this topic. Is there an
unhealthy thing you'd like to see them stop doing, or do less often? Is
there a healthy habit like exercising or eating fruit and vegetables that
you would like them to do more often? Get your list together. And don't
forget to add relaxing more and getting more sleep—two great and
healthy ideas for parents and kids!
15
▲Practice how to say it
Changing can be hard. And it's not always easy to hear that
someone you love thinks you need to do it. So you'll want to bring up
this topic in just the right way. If your parents wanted you to make a
change, how would you like them to ask? A gentle and caring way often
works best.
16
▲Make a decision together
Once you bring up the topic, remember that both you and your
parents should agree on what steps to take next. It helps to pick a single
goal. It can be overwhelming (无法抗拒的) if you try to make too
many changes all at once. If your goal is too general, you don't have
specific steps in mind.
17
▲Cheer them on
Encourage your parents as they start making changes. Tell them
you're proud of them. An extra hug or a home-made card of
encouragement can give them what they need to keep going down the
healthy road. What a great way to show how much you care!

My special birthday gift for my parents is doing housework.
I have been busy with my study and seldom helped my parents
with the housework. Feeling sorry for them, I began to think about
what to do to help.
Last Saturday was my mother's birthday and my parents went
out to see a film. It occurred to me that I could give the rooms a
thorough cleaning. Firstly, I collected all the books, newspapers and
other things scattered in the rooms and put them in place. Then, I
wiped the furniture. After that, I swept and mopped the floor.

At that moment, my parents came back and were quite
surprised to see all the rooms tidy. My mother gave me a hug and I
could see her tears in her eyes. Tired as I was, I felt so happy!
