基础入门训练5篇
In China, each year we produce about 250 million tons of city waste according to a report. Where does the waste go? People usually burn or bury (埋) it. On the other hand, we receive waste from some developed countries. We get useful materials from it. What about the useless part? Still burnt or buried. But is it a good way?
Waste pollutes the environment, harms people’s health and causes animals to die. It also gets in the way of green development. We can’t make money at the cost of the environment; we should leave clean water and green mountains to our next generation.
China is getting really serious about waste now. We are taking less waste from developed countries. From January 2018, China started to stop 24 kinds of waste coming into our country. And more laws and rules about dealing with waste have been made. Anyone who breaks the law will be punished.
China also tries to put waste into good use. One example is the waste electricity factories. They burn waste to make electricity in a green way. No harmful gases or water will get into the environment.
The Chinese government is encouraging people to do waste sorting (分类). Cities like Shanghai, Chongqing and Beijing have had their own sorting systems. Waste sorting is a new fashion. More and more people are forming the habit of separating their waste.
1.How much city waste do we produce every year in China?
2.Who should we leave clean water and green mountains to?
3.When did China start to stop 24 kinds of waste coming into the country?
4.What do you think of waste sorting? Why? Write 30 words or more.
【答案】1.About 250 million tons. 2.Our next generation. 3.From January 2018. 4.I think waste sorting is a very important environmental measure. Because it can reduce the pollution of waste. Through waste sorting, we can separate recyclable materials, wet waste (kitchen waste), and dry waste to avoid mixing them together and causing greater pollution.

Saihanba: turning desert into forest
Saihanba is a forest park in the north of Hebei. It is about 400 km from Beijing. For hundreds of years, the emperors went there to hunt. But in the 1800s, things began to change. There were forest fires and wars, and people cut down many trees. Saihanba slowly turned into a desert.
When the forest disappeared, there were terrible sandstorms in the Beijing area. In the early 1960s, a group of scientists travelled to Saihanba to find a solution. They found an old tree in the middle of the desert. “Maybe we can still plant trees here,” they thought. In 1962, the first tree planters arrived in Saihanba. The cold and dry weather made their work very difficult, and strong winds blew away many young trees. In winter, it got as cold as -40℃.
Three generations (代) of forest workers continued the hard work. Thanks to them, Saihanba is green again. It is today the world’s biggest man-made forest. There are hundreds of millions of trees there. The forest helps provide the capital with clean water, and there are fewer sandstorms in the Beijing area now.
1.Why did Saihanba become into a desert?
2.What made it difficult to turn the desert into a forest?
3.Are there many sandstorms in the Beijing area now?
4.Why are forests important? Write 30 words or more.
【答案】1.Because there were forest fires and wars, and people cut down many trees. 2.The cold and dry weather, strong winds. 3.No, there aren’t. 4.Forests are very important because they can provide people with wood, adjust the climate, increase precipitation, absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, purify the air, improve our living environment and prevent sandstorms.

When my daughter was young, we often walked on a graveled trail (碎石小道) around the lake near our home.
On a sunny spring day, my daughter and I walked along the trail and saw a lot of rubbish. So the next day, we brought a big bag and started to slowly get the rubbish along the way. My daughter picked up paper bags and broken boxes. I even found an old shoe. We stopped and picked up each one. The bag was full in a short time! We took a look at the lake after putting the bag in a rubbish bin (垃圾桶). It looked more beautiful. It was time to go home. On our way back home, we felt tired but happy.
I know that sometimes this world’s problems can seem very big and you want to know what you can do to make a difference. But in fact everything you do makes a difference!

For example, every time you stop to pick up the rubbish, you have an effect on the world. Something like that is good for the Earth. So let’s work together to make our planet become a beautiful place.

2.What did the writer’s daughter pick up?
3.How did the writer feel on the way back home?
4.What other things can you do to protect the Earth besides picking up the rubbish? Write 30 words or more.

Where does the plastic garbage go at last? Don’t worry. The city will get the plastic garbage together, and use it to build (修建) roads. The roads with plastic are strong and people can use them for a long time. Now, there are some roads made from the plastic garbage in Ambikapur. And the city will build more roads like that.
Now some other countries also like the “garbage” restaurant. They think it can keep the city clean and also make people healthy.

However, if you have been there lately, a colorful and strange sight may have caught your attention in the streets. A floral designer Lewis Miller and his team place flowers in the bins. They turn them into big flower baskets.
Sixty years ago, when he walked through the streets of his neighborhood, he felt so uncomfortable at seeing those garbage bins. But those were so useful indeed, so they had to be there. It was at that time that Lewis Miller came up with such an idea: Turning garbage bins into works of art.
Miller thinks about the colours of the nearby buildings. Then he chooses the flowers to make the streets brighter. He calls his works Flower Flashes.
Besides the garbage bins, Miller also places flowers on statues and other public works of art. He always uses flowers leftover (剩余的) from events. According to him, he wants to leave happy memories to people in their everyday lives.
