Nezha: The Devil Child Splashes in the Sea has become a huge hit in China since its release on January 29, 2025. This animated (动画的) movie, directed by Jiaozi, has caught the attention of both kids and adults.
The movie stands out with its amazing special effects. More than 1,900 special effect shots bring the story to life. An engine named “Dynamic Ink Wash Rendering Engine” was developed by the team. It also touches on some real-life issues like “labeling in society”, which makes the audience think about the unfairness and fixed ideas in our daily lives.

It looks like a steak. It cooks like a steak. And according to the scientists who made and ate it, the thick and juicy meat smells and tastes like a steak. But appearances can be deceptive. Unlike any steak found on a menu or store shelf today, this one didn’t come from an animal.
Scientists printed it with a bioprinter, a new kind of 3D printer. The difference is that this type uses cells as a form of living ink. “The technology involves the printing of actual living cells,” explains biologist Neta Lavon, who helped develop the steak. Those cells are grown in a lab. They arc given nutrients and kept at a temperature that lets them keep growing. Using real cells this way, she says, is a real innovation over earlier “new meat” products. This allows the printed product to look, smell and taste much like a real steak.
Researchers call this meat “cultured”. Interest in it has grown in recent years, partly because the technology shows it is possible. Supporters say that if meat can be printed, then no animal would need to lose its life to become human food.
But don’t look for these products on the store shelves just yet. Making meat this way is much harder—and therefore costs more—than raising and killing an animal. “The technology will need to reduce the cost greatly before cultured meat will be widely available,” says Kate Krueger, a cell biologist in Cambridge, Mass.
One of the most expensive parts, says Krueger, is the cell-growth medium. This mix of nutrients keeps the cells alive and dividing. The medium contains expensive ingredients called growth factors. Unless the cost of growth factors drops, says Krueger,“cultured meat can’t be produced at comparable prices to animal meat.” If scientists can find lower-cost methods, this technology may stand a chance of giving beef without the moo.
12. The underlined word “deceptive” in Paragraph 1 probably means _________.
A. changeable B. misleading C. traditional D. imperfect
13. Cultured meat is a kind of meat that __________.
A. is grown from living cells in a lab B. is made by raising and killing animals
C. has more nutrients than animal meat D. keeps growing by changing temperatures
14. What’s Kate Krueger’s opinion about the new technology?
A. It will reduce the cost of meat. B. It will help to stop killing animals.
C. It needs to be further improved. D. It may be put into the market soon.
15. What’s the best title of this passage?
A. A New Discovery of Cells B. A Useful and Low-Cost Method
C. Ways to Sell Cultured Meat D. No Killing Animals to Make Meat

Leading young people to take up physical exercise is really important. ____16____ But a report recently shows that only half of girls who were questioned by researchers enjoy doing sports. ____17____ What are the reasons? Because of their dislike of the clothes they are asked to wear and the lack(缺乏)of facilities(设备)to do their hair afterwards. As more girls than boys fail to take part in physical activities, this is seen as a problem that needs dealing with.
Many of the girls questioned said they disliked wearing the skirts that are often part of PE clothes and that the clothes should be more comfortable to wear. The girls wanted to have the chance to say what the PE clothes should look like. They suggested clothing should cover more of their bodies, such as leggings and high-necked shirts. ____18____
Another key problem the girls reported was not having the facilities available to do their hair after they had taken part in exercise. The girls being interviewed wanted private space where they could get changed. They felt schools should supply hairdryers so that they could style their hair. ____19____ They could use this time to do their hair and make sure they looked the same as they did before the class.
The researchers argue that since girls worry a great deal about how they look during their teenage years, it is important that schools take these problems seriously. ____20____ Some teachers feel sports should keep youngers’ minds off how they look. It should help them see the value of keeping physically fit, enjoying team spirit and achieving their success and not worrying about what their hair looks like.
A. Girls had the following problems with PE classes.
B. Even a quarter of them actually avoid taking part.
C. However, not everyone agrees with the suggestions.

Recently, community canteens (食堂) have become popular among Chinese people.
For only 20 yuan, we can buy our lunch at a community canteen in Hangzhou. We can have a meat dish, a vegetable dish and a bowl of rice—all very healthy. The dishes have a home-cooked taste.
Community canteens were made for the old people at first. It can be difficult for some old people to cook on their own, so the canteens offer help. They can have lunch and dinner within a 10-minute walk, or community workers can bring the dishes to them. There are experienced cooks in community canteens making special meals for the old. The food is soft and has less oil, and the old can eat healthily.
Now, the community canteens are bringing in more young people. For those who are not willing to order takeout meals or eat at restaurants, there are many kinds of healthier dishes in the community canteens. These dishes are sold at 2.48 yuan per 100 grams. The price of the food is lower than that in the restaurants close by. Besides, community canteens also offer many other ways to meet the dining habits of young people.
Now you can see some creative ways to make things easier for people. For example a community canteen in Beijing introduces buffet-style (自助模式) dishes. Therefore, the canteen has attracted more customers in and out of the neighbourhood.
There are now more than 6,700 community canteens in China. The rise of community canteens couldn’t happen without the work of local governments.

For example, a community canteen in Beijing introduces buffet-style (自助模式) dishes. Therefore, the canteen has attracted more customers in and out of the neighbourhood.
