Interested in a solo travel in Greece? Want to have a safe and fun trip exploring on your own? Then you’re in the right place! Now, let’s explore something you need to learn about solo travel to Greece.
Where is Greece
Located in southeastern Europe, at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa, Greece is most famous for its coastlines. The mainland offers rugged mountains, ancient ruins and cities like Athens. Then you have the islands, which are divided into groups like the Cyclades, Ionian, Dodecanese and more. Each has its own beauty. Personally, I recommend adding a Cyclades island adventure to your journey.
Getting to Greece
Getting to Greece is easy, with most solo trips to Greece starting in Athens. Once you land in Athens Airport, flights to other cities and islands are frequent, especially booked in advance. If you are heading straight into Athens, use the subway and take the 40-minute trip to start your solo travel in Athens.
Best Time to Take a Solo Greece Trip
When it comes to the best time for solo travel to Greece, it really depends. The high season (June to September) offers the best weather but also comes with crowds and higher prices. Come just after the rush (October and November) and it will be perfect. It will be warm enough for solo beach days but not too crowded.
21.What is Greece best known for according to the passage?
A.Coastlines. B.Islands. C.Ancient ruins. D.Beaches.
22.When can you come to Greece without too many crowds?

Robots Dance Yangko at 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala
On January 28, 2025, an innovative performance called YangBOT amazed audiences at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, China’s most-watched TV show. Directed by famous filmmaker Zhang Yimou, the show mixed traditional Chinese yangko dance with modern robot technology.
In the performance, humanoid robots (robots shaped like humans) dressed in colorful costumes danced yangko, a joyful folk dance from northern China often seen during festivals. They spun handkerchiefs and formed creative group patterns. These robots were developed by Unitree, a Chinese robotics company. This was not Unitree’s first success — in 2021, their robot cows named “Ben Ben” danced as backup for singer Andy Lau, making the company remarkable.
The robots learned dance moves through AI and used laser navigation to move safely on the uneven stage. Their strong joints helped them balance perfectly during fast steps. Zhang Yimou explained, “This dance isn’t just fun — it shows how technology can bring new life to traditions.”
Thanks to these innovations, the robots won the hearts of millions. On social media, topics like “Robot Yangko” trended quickly. Young viewers called it “cool”, while older audiences loved its humor and festive spirit.
The YangBOT program is a perfect mix of China’s tech progress and cultural pride. As one fan said, “It’s like watching the future and past dance together!”
24. What made the performance YangBOT groundbreaking?
A. It featured Hollywood-style special effects.
B. It blended traditional yangko dance with robotics.
C. It excluded human performers entirely.
D. It introduced virtual reality elements.
25.Which capabilities did the humanoid robots demonstrate?
A. Singing traditional folk songs.
B. Performing acrobatic stunts.
C. Spinning handkerchiefs and creating formations.
D. Translating languages in real-time.
26.Unitree, the robotics company, is notable because it____________.
A. previously created robot cows for Andy Lau’s performance.
B. specializes in AI-powered farming tools.
C. focuses solely on industrial manufacturing robots.
D. designed the first robots to appear on Chinese TV.
27.How were the robots trained to perform yangko?
A. By mimicking pre-recorded human dances.
B. Using motion-capture suits worn by dancers.
C. Via remote control by human operators.
D. Through artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

In the cutthroat world of artificial intelligence, long dominated by Silicon Valley, DeepSeek has emerged as an impressive new player. Since its debut in early 2024, this Chinese AI has stirred global attention, representing more than just another technological innovation. It’s a complex phenomenon that reflects the shifting landscape of innovation, power and cultural influence in the AI-driven era.
Developed by QuantumThink Labs in Hangzhou, DeepSeek was created by a team of ex-Google Brain engineers and Peking University experts. DeepSeek is not your average chatbot. Trained on an astonishing 20 trillion tokens, this multimodal model showcases linguistic proficiency, code generation capabilities and reasoning skills that rival or surpass its Western counterparts. What truly sets DeepSeek apart is its remarkable efficiency, delivering GPT-4-level performance with 30 percent less computational power.
In a strategic move, QuantumThink made a “lite” version of DeepSeek open source, a decision that has sparked widespread adoption across the globe. Developers from cities like Lagos to Jakarta have quickly embraced it to create poetry generators and AI-powered farm management tools for rural India.
However, DeepSeek’s growing influence is not without challenges. There are concerns that US government may block American firms from using DeepSeek, mentioning data security concerns. Tariff (关税) war could also be on the cards. Yet, such moves might backfire, potentially harming US startups that benefit from DeepSeek’s cost advantages.
The future of AI, with DeepSeek at the center, remains a mystery. Will it trigger a tech battle between the US and China, or will its open-source roots foster global collaboration? DeepSeek’s story is not just about technology; it’s about the power of innovation and agency.
For too long, the AI narrative has been dominated by Western powers. Now, a Chinese lab has shown that innovation is not exclusive to the West. Whether we enter an AI arms race or begin a new era of global cooperation depends on how we choose to use and share this technology. As a Brazilian coder said, the future of AI must speak the language of both the developed and developing world to truly succeed.
28.What does the second paragraph mainly talk about?
A. The creation of DeepSeek. B. The definition of DeepSeek.
C. The strengths of DeepSeek. D. The efficiency of DeepSeek.
29.What might be a challenge DeepSeek faces?
A. Involvement in tariff war. B. The possibility of data leaking.
C. A decline in its competitiveness. D. A ban on its use from US government.
30.Which of the following best describes the future of AI?
A. Uncertain. B. Secure. C. Promising. D. Depressing.
31.What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. AI should prioritize Western languages.
B. We will enter a new era of global AI cooperation.
C. Considering global needs is required to ensure AI’s success.
D. Developing countries will eventually dominate AI innovation.
D
Research has found that loneliness and social isolation are associated with an increased risk of conditions like anxiety, depression, heart disease, and stroke. In fact, a 2010 analysis found that loneliness is as harmful to physical health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day — meaning using friendship to reduce loneliness is good for you. But how many friends should you have?
According to Jeffrey Hall, a professor of communication studies at the University of Kansas, if you want to ease the health impacts of loneliness, the most important thing you can do is to have at least one important person in your life. But if you want to have the most meaningful life, one where you feel very bonded and connected to others, more friends are better.
Some research endorses his remarks. One study from 2016 found that those with at least six friends have better health throughout their lives, and a study from 2020 found that middle-aged women who have at least three friends typically have higher levels of overall satisfaction with their lives.
To figure out whether you need more friends in your life, psychologist Marisa Franco recommends asking yourself, “Do I feel lonely?” Loneliness is sort of an alarm system. While everyone feels lonely sometimes, you should determine whether you feel left out or isolated regularly.
Franco also recommends asking yourself if there are parts of your identity that you feel are restricted. “Different people bring out different parts of us. So when you have a large friend group, you’re able to experience this side of yourself that loves basketball, and that side of yourself that loves flowers,” Franco said. “If you’re not feeling quite like yourself, that might indicate you need different types of friends.”
Since making new friends can be difficult, Franco said it’s often easier to rekindle old relationships. She added that you should take the initiative and not assume that friendships will naturally happen.
“Ultimately, there isn’t ‘a magic number’ of friends for everyone,” Hall said. “Your personality and the characteristics of your life are going to make a difference.”
32.What might Jeffrey Hall agree with?
A. Having just one friend leads to more happiness.
B. Everyone’s ideal number of friends doesn’t vary.
C. A broad friend network enables strong connections.
D. Friendship should be prioritized in social relations.
33.What does the underlined word “endorses” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. Creates. B. Supports. C. Satisfies. D. Introduces.
34.Which one suggests a person needs more friends according to Franco?
A. Continuous self-doubt. B. Few exciting experiences.
C. Ineffective social activities. D. Constant feelings of isolation.
35.What does Franco say about having a large friend group?
A. It helps explore different aspects of one’s personality.
B. It ensures personal growth by wide social circles.
C. It means a person won’t feel restricted any longer.
D. It requires befriending those with shared values.

I was in Philadelphia for a conference when I saw an ad in the hotel. A nearby theater was showing a documentary about several local animal shelters that were helping to save abandoned dogs across the country. I love animals, and I felt an urge to go to this fundraising event. However, none of my co-workers would go with me, and I was worried about walking on the street alone at night.
I resigned myself to spending the evening in my hotel room, but as soon as I got back to my room I felt restless and bored. The theater where the event was taking place was only about five blocks from the hotel, and the area around the hotel didn’t seem particularly dangerous. So, I decided to brave it. I gathered up my wallet and room key and set off.
It was already getting dark and the streets were nearly deserted. I managed to find the street the theater was on, but when I turned the corner, I stopped in shock. In front of the theater were a group of bikers — very big, tough-looking bikers.
I’ve known lots of motorcycle enthusiasts and most are nice people. However, in this case, I was a woman all alone, in a strange neighborhood, at night, and there were twenty or so very large men — all wearing insignia (徽章) that indicated they were in some sort of club — standing before me. Warning bells began to sound in my head, and my heart was pounding. Was I at the right theater? Had I misread the date of the event?
A sign outside the theater told me that I was in the right place on the right evening. Nevertheless, I wondered if I should rush back to my hotel instead of walking through that crowd of bikers. I finally decided that I would be safer inside the theater. Hopefully, the bikers would have gone away by the time the film was over.

Dear Editor,
I think it’s a great idea to have One Republic perform at the 2025 Spring Festival Gala.
Firstly, it shows China’s openness and inclusiveness. By inviting an American band, we can share different cultures and promote international friendship. Secondly, it adds diversity to the gala. Their music style is different from traditional Chinese performances, which can attract more young people to watch and enjoy the gala.
All in all, having foreign performers in China’s Spring Festival gala is a step forward in making the Spring Festival a truly international event. Let’s embrace cultural exchanges and make the Spring Festival more colorful.
Best regards,
Li Hua
I hurried into the theater, only to find there were even more bikers inside. They were chatting loudly and seemed to fill every corner of the place. My heart sank even further. I quickly found an empty seat in the back row, trying to make myself as inconspicuous as possible. I clutched my bag tightly, constantly glancing around, praying that nothing bad would happen. Every now and then, I peeked at the bikers, wondering what they were doing here. Were they going to cause trouble? The tension in the air was palpable, and I regretted my decision to come alone.
When the film began, I realized that the bikers were an animal rescue group. They had come to support the fundraiser for the local animal shelters. As the documentary unfolded, showing the plight of the abandoned dogs, I saw many of the bikers wiping away tears. They were as moved as I was by the heartwarming and heartbreaking stories. During the intermission, some of them even came over to me, smiling kindly and asking if I was enjoying the film. Their tough exteriors hid big, soft hearts. I felt ashamed of my initial fear and was truly grateful that I had decided to come. We spent the rest of the evening sharing our love for animals and discussing ways to help.
