Nowadays, teenagers’ consumption concepts (消费观) and lifestyles are changing quietly. With the development of society, teenagers no longer buy expensive things blindly. Instead, they are paying more attention to the value for money of products. This new way of consumption is called reverse (反向的) consumption, which actually encourages people not to waste money.
While traditional consumption always makes people buy the new expensive products, reverse consumption leads people to think about the quality of products. This has become popular among teenagers and influenced their buying decisions in all areas. After all, teenagers don’t make money by themselves, and they have to ask their parents for money. So they should think twice about what they are going to buy.
More and more teenagers have begun to care about the harm of blind consumption to the environment. They have realized that blind consumption not only causes waste, but also causes environmental pollution. So, they are trying to reduce its influence on the environment through this new way of consumption. They’re choosing products that are environmentally friendly.
What’s more, reverse consumption is influencing people’s understanding of a better life. Young people value their own satisfaction more than the price of products, and they believe that a meaningful life can be achieved through reverse consumption. For example, they may choose to spend money on experience such as traveling or cultural activities rather than spending much time watching TV. In a word, reverse consumption -is quite different from the traditional consumption of buying things.
Teenagers realize that the expensive things do not bring them happiness. They pay more attention to personal growth and spiritual wealth rather than the building of material relationship, so reverse consumption is decisive changes in society.
29.If you buy _______, that means you have reverse consumption.
A.a model truck that is made of plastic B.an amazing ring that you seldom wear

A.The price of products. B.The quality of products.
C.Reverse consumption. D.Traditional consumption.
31.How does the writer tell people that reverse consumption leads them to a meaningful life in Paragraph 4?

Huang Xuhua, a great Chinese scientist, passed away on February 6th, 2025. But his great deeds and strong spirit will always stay in our hearts and keep lighting up China’s way forward.
Huang Xuhua was born in Guangdong Province in 1926. When he was young, he saw the hard times of his country under foreign attacks. These sad memories made him study hard. He made a promise to make the country strong with his knowledge.
In the 1950s, China started to develop nuclear submarines (核潜艇). It was a very difficult job. Huang Xuhua was not afraid and stood up bravely. At that time, there was not much advanced technology or many resources. It was like climbing a very steep mountain. But he and his team took on this challenge. To keep the project secret, they stopped contacting (联络) the outside world, even their families. Huang Xuhua left his hometown for many years.
During the design process, they met a lot of problems. For example, designing a nuclear reactor was really hard. They couldn’t get help from foreign experts, so they could only depend on their own research. They used simple tools like abacuses and slide rules to calculate and do experiments with great effort. Another important problem was to make sure the submarine was stable underwater. After many simulations and tests, they gradually overcame these problems.
Finally, in the 1970s, China’s first nuclear submarine was built and tested successfully. This made China one of the few countries that had this ability. Huang Xuhua didn’t stop after the big success. He went on to help with the development of submarine technology. His hard work and devotion won him many honors, including the “Medal of the Republic” (共和国勋章) in 2019.
Now, when we think of him, we know that his spirit can inspire us a lot. We, especially the young people, should learn from his spirit. Let’s take on the responsibility, face challenges bravely, and work hard to make China stronger. In this way, his spirit will live on forever.

On January 20, 2025, a Chinese tech company named DeepSeek made a new AI called DeepSeek-R1. This smart program can solve math problems, write code, and answer questions like top models such as OpenAI’s GPT-40, but it costs much less to build. The team spent only $5.58 million (1/70 of OpenAI’s cost) and used 2,048 computer chips for two months. This shows that good ideas can beat big money.
DeepSeek-R1 learns by trying many times and getting better, like how students practice maths. Other AIs need lots of prepared examples, but R1 improves by itself. For example, in a global math test, it got 79.8% right, a little higher than OpenAI’s model. A simple version of R1 can even run on low-cost computers, helping schools and small companies.
DeepSeek-R1 is free to use and change. On its first day online, over 19,000 programmers worldwide started projects to study it. A German scientist said experiments with R1 cost $10 instead of $300 with other AIs. Even Meta (a famous U.S. tech company) top scientist said, “This kind of free AI could change the world.”
U.S. tech companies are worried. Meta plans to spend $65 billion more on AI research. Experts say China is catching up fast. A report in Nature magazine called R1 a “big step forward”, proving that smart ideas beat expensive tools.
As a DeepSeek engineer said, “We want AI to be a friend, not something only rich people can use.” With R1, China shows the world that great things come from new ideas and hard work, not just money.
36.What is the passage mainly talking about?
A.A new AI model can solve math problems.
B.How computer chips work.
C.The difference between Chinese AI technologies and American’s.
D.Chinese AI Model DeepSeek-R1 stuns (震惊) the World.
37.What does “good ideas can beat big money” mean in the passage?
A.Big money is the most important factor in achieving success, and good ideas play a secondary role.
B.In various competitive situations, good ideas have the power to overcome the advantages that big money brings.
C.Good ideas can only work when they are combined with big money.
D.Good ideas and big money are equally important and cannot be separated in any case.
38.Which of the following is right according to the passage?
A.DeepSeek-R1 can only solve math problems and answer questions.
B.DeepSeek-R1 learns by trying many times and getting better, not like how students practice maths.
C.Compared with other AIs which need lots of prepared examples, R1 improves by itself.
D.On R1’s third day online, over 19,000 programmers worldwide started projects to study it.
39.How much does the German scientist’s experiments with R1 cost?
A.$300 B.$5.58 C.$10 D.$65
40.Why is DeepSeek-R1 called a “big step forward”?
A.It proves that smart ideas beat expensive tools.
B.It uses the most expensive tools.
C.It made U.S. tech companies worried.
D.It can only help rich people.

Project-based learning, or PBL, is a teaching method in which students work on a project with the goal of answering a real-world question or solving a practical problem. PBL requires students to use skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and collaboration. Moreover, students are proud of their work because they will need to present their ideas to an audience (观众). PBL leads to the creation of a product. An important part of PBL is audience feedback and comments (评论).
PBL can fit into any subject area in social studies, for example, students can research the history and culture of their community, exploring a festival for the community, which includes traditional costumes, food, art and music.
In maths, students can make a quilt (被子) with symbols of their community’s heritage. This project joins knowledge of geometry, art, and history together. It would require maths skills to measure the material used to make the quilt. The quilt could be displayed at a country fair or a school meeting. In language arts, students could team up with a school from a different culture. First of all, they could exchange information through a class website. Then they could pack items that represent their school or culture. Students would give a description of each item and why it is relevant. Finally, the students could exchange the packages through the mainland ask follow-up questions about the items they received.
In science, students could research plants, and they could use their findings to build a habitat (栖息地) in the school garden. This may include removing weeds, adding plants to attract butterflies, and building bird feeders.
An important part of PBL is that failure is understood to be a basic part of the learning process. One of the goals of PBL is to make efforts productively and work through problems. All schools and educators should accept PBL!
Project—based Learning

With the development of society, more and more people pay attention to weight control. Why should people keep a healthy weight? Because fatness can cause serious problems like heart diseases or diabetes. Some overweight people may lose confidence because they are laughed at by others. (While people who are too thin are easily to fall ill and weakness is also harmful to their health.)
How can we keep a healthy weight? Here are some useful tips. First, eat a balanced diet. We should eat more vegetables, fruits instead of junk food like hamburgers and sweets. Second, exercise regularly. Doing sports such as running, swimming, or playing basketball helps burn calories. Even walking for 30 minutes every day can make a difference. Third, get enough sleep.
