However, it seems many of us can’t help treating it like one. In a survey of 2000 people in the US. 48 percent believed we should have good manners when talking to AI, said The New York Post. Scientists at the Imperial College London in the UK have made a similar discovery recently. They found that humans tend (往往会) to treat AI as human beings, showing sympathy (同情) toward them and even protecting them, Science Daily reported. In their experiment, the scientists invited 244 volunteers to play an online ball game with an AI bot. A make-believe volunteer also took part, and sometimes left out the AI on purpose by passing the ball only to human players. As the scientists watched the game, they discovered that most of the time the volunteers tried to fix the unfairness (不公平) toward the bot by giving it the ball more often. The finding is in line with the ideas of Media Equation Theory, the scientists said in their papers. Developed in the 1990s by scientists at Stanford University in the US, the theory suggests we often reply to media and technology like we do to real people and places, rather than just seeing them as tools. An example is Replika, an AI chatbot created in 2017. It has about 2 million users worldwide. “Your Replika will always be your side no matter what you are up to,” reads its official website. But the AI’s support turned dangerous when it encouraged Jaswant Singh Chail, a young man in the UK, to carry out his plan to kill the Queen of England. Chail tried to do so in December 2021, but he was stopped in time. However, he was still put in prison. Companies should avoid making AI too human-like in their design, advised the scientists at Imperial College London. This can help people tell the difference between virtual and real communication. 18.Which of the following is TRUE based on Media Equation Theory? A.Humans always treat AI as tools. B.Humans often reply to AI as to real people. C.Humans should make AI less human-like. D.Humans tried to fix unfairness in the game. 19.What does the author want to tell us by mentioning “Replika” in the article? A.AI has educational advantages. B.AI can influence humans in some ways. C.AI is designed for some purposes. D.AI can’t be used in social communication. 20.What can be inferred (推断) from the article? A.AI always has bad influence on humans. B.Nearly half people in the US treat AI politely. C.Treating AI more carefully is a must for humans. D.Companies won’t make AI as friends any more. 21.The following sentence can best be put at the end of ________. While this could make humans and AI work better as a team, it also has risks, especially when AI bots are designed to act like “friends” to people. 根据“the theory suggests we often reply to media and technology like we do to real people and places, rather than just seeing them as tools.” 根据“An example is Replika, an AI chatbot…But the AI’s support turned dangerous when it encouraged Jaswant Singh Chail, a young man in the UK, to carry out his plan to kill the Queen of England.” 根据“This can help people tell the difference between virtual and real communication.” C。 D Do you have good friends? Do you sometimes feel so close to them that they are like family to you? It turns out that this isn’t just an expression. A study from the University of California and Yale University has found that you and your friends have more genes (基因) in common than strangers do. Researchers looked at the genes of 1,932 people and compared unrelated friends’ genes and unrelated strangers’ genes. They found that friends have about 1% of genes that match. “1% of genes may not sound like much to the layperson (外行), but to geneticists (遗传学家) it is a large number,” Professor Nicholas Christakis of Yale University said. In fact, this is the same amount of genes you share with your fourth cousins, those who have the same great-great-great grandparents as you. So do you happen to become friends with people who share your genes? Not at all. In fact, it is evolution (进化) that brings you together. “People who share certain genes also share skills and have similar likes and dislikes,” researchers said. In ancient times, it was important that people who were alike stayed together. For example, people who had a similar susceptibility (易感性) to the cold were more likely to help each other build a fire, giving them a better chance to stay alive. Researchers also found that among all the genes studied, those producing a change in sense of smell were the most similar in friends. This is probably because people who smell things in the same way are more easily drawn to similar environments. For example, people who like the smell of coffee may hang out at cafes more often and as a result are more likely to meet and become friends with each other. With these findings, the team has developed an interesting test called the “friendship score”. It can help tell how big the chances are that two people will be friends by studying their genes. So, here is a question for you: Would you like to take this test and know in advance (提前) who your friends are going to be, or would you still prefer to learn about it by yourself and let time be the judge? 22.From the passage, we know that our friends ________. A.look like our cousins B.share about 1% of genes with us C.feel close to our family D.can help us when we feel cold 23.According to the passage, the writer probably agrees that ________. A.we develop our friendship by chance B.our genes decide who we can make friends with exactly C.everyone should take the test called the “friendship score” D.people sharing certain genes have skills and interests in common 24.The writer gives the example of ancient people in Paragraph 5 to ________. A.study how ancient people dealt with the cold B.predict that similar environments lead to friendship C.prove that it is evolution that brings friends together D.explain why ancient people gave each other chances to keep alive 25.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage? A.Friendship: Its influence on People and Behaviour B.Friendship: Its Benefits to Teens and Decision-making C.Friendship: Is It Necessary to Be Judged by Time? D.Friendship: Is It Possible to Be Influenced by Genes? 根据第二段“They found that friends have about 1% of genes that match.” 根据第五段“People who share certain genes also share skills and have similar likes and dislikes,”可知,有相同特定基因的人会有相同的技能和相似的好恶,所以作者可能同意选项D的观点。故选D。 24. 根据第五段“In ancient times, it was important that people who were alike stayed together. For example, people who had a similar susceptibility to the cold were more likely to help each other build a fire, giving them a better chance to stay alive.” Learning how to read in English can be a difficult task. The sea ice loss and the Arctic ice melting (融化) caused by climate change have increased much in the last ten years. So they have pushed down the number of polar bears and seals while polar bears depend on sea ice for hunting seals. According to the data from WMO, temperatures on the Antarctica (南极洲) just hit 18.3℃, which is higher than the record of 17.59℃ in March, 2015. Moreover, temperatures in this area have warmed about 3℃ over the last 50 years. Although such temperatures might be considered pleasant for a picnic or a hiking trip, this is the Antarctica we are talking about. It is home to the most inhospitable (不适宜居住的) environment on the planet because it is supposed to be an extremely cold place. In fact, the average temperature of the continent’s central area is -57℃. Besides, many places are experiencing the extreme weather. Australia is undergoing its worst drought (干旱) since the 1930s, leaving bush fires burning so long and causing many deaths. Meanwhile in Europe, crops in the northwest are suffering the driest weather in the past 80 years. Recently West Texas in America has also gone through its worst drought in more than 70 years, while floods have hit Eastern and Southern China. “Climate change is bad for us human beings, which causes direct health problems. I’m afraid there will be more common events like the one that 30,000 to 50,000 persons died in Europe in 2003 due to the heat wave there,” Professor Schwartz said. “It will also cause more air pollution, diseases and lack of clean water and so on.” 54.What brings down the number of polar bears according to this passage? 55.What forms of extreme weather are mentioned in the passage? 56.Please write another form of extreme weather you know about. What can we do to prevent it? 54.Climate change./The sea ice loss and the Arctic ice melting. 55.Droughts and floods. 56.Sandstorms. We can plant more trees and create green belts to keep soil in place. 54.根据第一段中“The sea ice loss and the Arctic ice melting (融化) caused by climate change have increased much in the last ten years. So they have pushed down the number of polar bears and seals while polar bears depend on sea ice for hunting seals.” Climate change./The sea ice loss and the Arctic ice melting. 55.根据第三段中“Besides, many places are experiencing the extreme weather. Australia is undergoing its worst drought (干旱) since the 1930s,  leaving bush fires burning so long and causing many deaths.…Recently West Texas in America has also gone through its worst drought in more than 70 years, while floods have hit Eastern and Southern China.” 故填Droughts and floods. 56. Sandstorms. We can plant more trees and create green belts to keep soil in place. 第七部分 书面表达(共1题;满分25分) 57.Write a letter of at least 100 words according to the given situation (根据以下情境写一封不少于100个词的信,标点符号不占格。 Dear Zoe, It was great having you here. _______________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文 Dear Zoe,     It was great having you here. A.controlling the amount of diet B.making healthy food choices C.telling us the nutrients we need D.showing how to cook eggs C We know that AI is not a real human. A.Paragraph 2 B.Paragraph 3 C.Paragraph 4 D.Paragraph 5 D Do you have good friends? A.Paragraph 2 B.Paragraph 3 C.Paragraph 4 D.Paragraph 5 D Do you have good friends?
