With the development of science and technology, information security (安全) is becoming more and more important. There are many ways to unlock the phone. Here are four students’ opinions.
Student A
The fingerprint unlock is my favorite. Compared with numeric passwords, it can help me unlock my phone more quickly. I think the pattern unlock is not safe. When you’re unlocking your phone, other people might see the pattern and memorize (记住) it. Furthermore, it’s too easy for thieves to break the code.
Student B
My favorite is the fingerprint unlock. Everyone’s fingerprint is unique. So I think that’s safer. Some people like to use numbers as their passwords. They often use special numbers, such as birth dates and telephone numbers. I think this is extremely unsafe.
Student C
I think using fingerprints to unlock smartphones is the least secure (可靠的) because fingerprints can be copied using some kinds of technology. I prefer the face unlock. Other people cannot unlock your phone unless you allow them to.
Student D
I prefer the fingerprint unlock, as no two fingerprints in the world are the same. I think the least secure method is the pattern unlock because too many people use patterns shaped like “Z”, “L”, or “W”, which are easy to figure out. In the future, I guess there might be a voice unlock. I’ve heard that everyone has a unique voice. When you speak, your phone will recognize your voice and unlock itself.
44. Which of the following is pattern unlock?
A. B. C. D.
45. How many students prefer the fingerprint unlock?
A. One. B. Two. C. Three. D. Four.
46 Why does student D think the voice unlock is safe?
A. Because it frees people’s hands. B. Because everyone’s voice is unique. C. Because people can easily change their voices. D. Because you don’t need to worry about forgetting your password.
In 1991, some Americans called television “the drug (毒品) of the nation”. But more than 30 years later, more and more people are turning away from television.
So, have people kicked TV viewing habits? Well, many of us may not watch traditional TV, but instead we’re watching TV programmes on mobile devices (设备).
How do we get here?
It was the Scotsman John Logie Baird who made the first television in 1925. At first not many people were impressed because the quality of the early television was poor and TV programmes weren’t good enough. But progress was quietly being made.
Just after World War II, around 8,000 homes in the US had a TV. By 1960, this number had risen to more than 45 million—and the television had become the device to gather people around.
TV viewing became one of family activities. And when the choice was limited in the early days, millions of people watched the same shows together—something we may now call “event television”. Cable TV(有线电视) with hundreds of channels began to change that, and “event television” became rare.
Although short videos have been popular recently, perhaps the move away from communal (公共的) TV began when television sets became cheaper and families could afford to buy an extra one for the bedroom or the kitchen. There was no more fighting about what to watch—but also less watching together.
Now, as young people are used to getting the latest information quickly, television shows no sign (迹象) of making a return.
Television will certainly change. Experts (专家) say it has a future with sports and news. But scripted shows like comedies and dramas will be watched more on mobile devices and less on TV.
47. The underlined word “kicked” in Paragraph 2 has a similar meaning to “________”.
A. got into B. put into C. given up D. picked up
48. What’s the main idea of Paragraph 5?
A. The TV programmes got much better. B. John Logie Baird made progress quietly.

It was the sound of the blind man’s stick-tap (轻敲), tap-tapping on the road outside the inn (小旅馆). It came nearer and nearer. Then it stopped. It started again, but this time it was moving away.
“He may not be able to see us,” I said, “but soon other men will come and find us. Black Dog perhaps. Or the man with one leg.”
“It’s only seven o’clock,” my mother said. “I haven’t finished counting my money.” “There’s no time, Mother,” I said. “We must go before the men come.”
As we left the inn, I heard the sound of running feet. “They’re coming, Mother,” I said. “Run quickly.”
“I can’t, Jim,” my mother said. “I feel ill.”
There was a bridge just outside the inn. I pulled my mother under the bridge. We waited there as the men came nearer. There were seven or eight of them. Blind Pew was one of the men. The night was dark by now, but one of the men had a light.
“Break down the door,” he said.
Three of the men broke down the door. They ran inside. Then one of them shouted, “Bill is dead!”
Another man shouted, “The chest (大箱子) is open. Someone’s opened it. But there are coins inside.”
“We don’t want the coins,” the blind man shouted. “Where’s Captain Flint’s map?”
“It’s not here,” a man said.

“It’s that boy!” the blind man shouted. “We must find him. Look everywhere in the house.”

Cheng Feng is a teacher. However, to many of her students, the 33-year-old teacher is more than that. Cheng’s care for her students has made her a “mother” to them.
Over the past years, Cheng has gone into the mountains and worked in several poor schools in Poyang to help village children.
Right after graduation in 2011. Cheng became a teacher at Tutang Primary School in Youcheng Town of Poyang. Over the following four years, she did well in her job there.
Beitang Primary School is a poor school far away from her home. When Cheng found out it was going to close because of a lack (缺) of teachers, she decided to give up her life at Tutang Primary School and go there.
After arriving there, she learned that because of the poor educational conditions, many parents there had sent their children to schools further away. Cheng tried her best to encourage seventeen students to return. She called upon her college classmates to offer a helping hand. To make the students’ life more colourful, Cheng learned music, sports and art courses online and then taught the students. As things got well at Beitang Primary School, Cheng went to Siwanghu Primary School.
Cheng’s husband is 35 years old. He always supports Cheng’s choice. He has also served as a teacher in Poyang over the years.

A. One. B. Two. C. Three. D. Four.
46. Why does student D think the voice unlock is safe?
A. Because it frees people’s hands. B. Because everyone’s voice is unique. C. Because people can easily change their voices. D. Because you don’t need to worry about forgetting your password.
【答案】44. B 45. C 46. B
【解析】

C. TV viewing became one of family activities. D. The television became more and more popular.
49. Why do people turn away from television according to the passage?
① Short videos are popular.
② Families don’t often watch TV together.
③The quality of some TV programmes is still poor.
④ Young people would like to get information quickly.
A. ①②③④ B. ①②④ C. ①③④ D. ②③④

There are many things we should value in our life. I value time the most because it’s easy to simply let it pass. It is like a secret friend whose company is sometimes unnoticed. And we can’t make up for the lost time.
As soon as I realize that time is priceless, I begin to value every second in life. To begin with, I make daily schedules and stick to them so that my time is well spent.
