表语是用来说明主语的身份、性质、品性、特征和状态的,表语常由名词、代词、数词、动词过去分词、动词的-ing形式、副词、介词短语、形容词、不定式和从句等来充当。

从属连词 that 无成分,无意义
whether(无if) 无成分,意为“是否”
because 无成分,意为“因为”
as if/as though 无成分,意为“好像,似乎”
连接代词 what,which,who,whom, ...+ever, whose 在从句中充当主语,宾语,表语,定语
连接副词 how, when, where, ...+ ever, why 在从句中充当状语
that引导表语从句时无任何意义,不作任何成分,只起连接作用,通常不能省略。whether意为“是否”,不作任何成分,起连接作用。(注意:if不能引导表语从句)
(1)从属连词: that & whether
1. The most important thing is that we finish the final task.
2. The question is whether we can finish it in such a short time.
(2) 连接代词: who, whom, whose, which, what, wh-ever
连接代词引导表语从句时,既起连接作用,又在从句中作主语,宾语,表语,定语等。
Eg: ①The problem is what is really necessary for our company.(what在从句中作主语)
② The key is who is responsible for this issue.(who在从句中作主语)
③The lesson I learned from this mistake is whoever comes to our company must register at the entrance.(whoever在从句中作主语)
④The biggest challenge we face is whom this trophy should be given to.
(whom在从句中作宾语)
(3) 连接副词:when, where, why, how...
连接副词引导表语从句时,除了起连接作用外,还在从句中充当成分,分别充当时间,地点,原因,方式状语。
①The problem is how we can increase the varieties of our products.
(how在从句中作方式状语)
② The most unforgotten day is when we went to his birthday party together. (when在从句中作时间状语)
③The right place is where you passed me a book yesterday.
(where在从句中作地点状语)
as if/as though,because等引导的表语从句常用于系动词look,seem,sound,be,become等后面:
若表示真实情况:用陈述语气
若表示非真实情况:用虚拟语气
because引导的表语从句常用于“This/that/it is /was because...”句型中。
Eg: ①It looks as if it is going to rain.
② It was reported that many kinds of birds were in danger.It was because their habitats were damaged .
(4) as if/as though,because等引导的表语从句
若跟现在事实不符:过去式(be动词用were)
若跟过去事实不符:had done
若跟将来事实不符:would/could+动词原形
as if/as though 引导的表语从句的虚拟语气
The little boy talks as if he knew everything in the world.
He felt as if he had met this young lady for a long somewhere.
why 与 because 均可引导表语从句,但前者强调结果,后者强调原因
I had a cold. That’s why I didn’t come.
我感冒了,所以我没有来。
I didn’t come. That’s because I had a cold.
我没有来,因为我感冒了。
当句子的主语是表建议、要求、命令、计划等的名词时,
表语从句要用虚拟语气(should+do),should可省略。
建议:suggestion, advice, proposal, recommendation, idea, motion(提议), preference(偏爱)
要求:request, requirement, demand, insistence(主张), agreement(协议)
命令:order, command, instruction(指令)
安排:arrangement, decision, determination, resolution(决议), plan
1 ) My suggesstion is that we ______ (come) early tomorrow.
2) Her request is that we students _______ (study) hard.
