Ⅰ. A It's school time again! You're probably feeling excited and maybe a little sad that vacation is over. Some kids feel nervous or a little afraid on the first day of school as a result of all the new things: new teachers, new friends, and even a new school. Luckily, these “new” worries only stick around for a little while. Let's find out more about going to a new school. Most teachers kick_off the new school year by introducing themselves and talking about all the stuff you'll be doing that year. Some teachers give students a chance to tell something about themselves to the rest of the class, too. When teachers do the talking on the first day, they often revise classroom rules and school rules so that you'll know what's allowed and what's not. Please pay close attention. You might already know a lot of people in your class on the first day, but it's a great day to make a new friend, so try to say hello to kids you know and new ones that you don't. Make the first move and you'll be glad you did, and so will your new friend! Seeing friends you haven't seen in a while can make the first day a good one. You can make the day feel special by wearing clothes that you really like. Maybe you got a great Tshirt on one of your vacations, or a pair of sneakers (运动鞋). It also can make you feel good to be prepared and have all the things you need, such as pencils, folders, and whatever else you'll be needing. But make sure that you pack them the night before in case you don't have time in the morning. 1.What does the underlined phrase “kick off” in the second paragraph probably mean? A.Start. B.Study. C.Find. D.Teach. 2.What does the last paragraph mainly tell us about? A.What to know about a new school. B.How to prepare for a new school. C.What to do on your first day of school. D.How to spend your first day of school. 3.According to the passage you usually do everything on the first day of school except ________. A.introduce yourself B.learn about the school rules C.make new friends D.go over your new lessons 4.If you happen to see an old friend on the first day of school, from the passage we know that you will feel ________. A.nervous B.lucky C.happy D.exhausted [二次精读] 重点单词 nervous ['nɜːvəs] adj. 紧张不安的 introduce [ˌɪntrə'djuːs; (US) duːs] vt. 介绍 chance [tʃɑːns; (US) tʃæns] n. 特别的,专门的 重点短语 find out 找出;弄清 say hello to 打招呼 in case 以免 语块积累 a little while 一小会儿 the rest of the class 班上其他同学 长难句 分析 When teachers do the talking on the first day, they often revise classroom rules and school rules so that you'll know what's allowed and what's not. B Everyone has “down days”. Maybe it's because of the bad weather, or the disappointing grades on a difficult test, and some days teenagers just act uninterested in life or school. But these symptoms(症状) often pass quickly, as teens move on to new school subjects, or meet with friends to prevent themselves from thinking what troubles them at the moment. But if a teenager displays symptoms of sadness for more than two lasting weeks, it might point to something serious. As teenagers develop, they push new boundaries(边界), complain about rules and look for more free rights from their parents. According to the online Health Guide on Adolescent Development, parents must be lasting figures in their teenagers' life, providing safe boundaries for teens to grow, even if the teenagers act like these boundaries are unwanted. Parents need to provide rules, while also remaining flexible and respectful of the growing teens' need for freedom. For example, teenagers will often feel frustrated, embarrassed, and even angry that though they want freedom, they still need to ask their parents for an agreement to go to a friend's house, or need their mothers to take them to school. The US Department of Education says that parents should respect and support their teen's choices as long as those choices won't have longterm harmful effects. For example, even if a parent doesn't enjoy the music his or her teen listens to, it's unlikely that the choice of music will prevent that teen from entering a good college, or lead to health problems. However, if that teen is drinking alcohol and driving, parents must get through strict punishments to teach that there are bad results for poor choices that come with increased freedom. 5.Why do teen's feelings of bad days usually disappear quickly? A.Their teachers help them. B.They take some medicine. C.Their parents talk with them. D.They change their attention. 6.What does the example in paragraph 3 show? A.Freedom must be given at anytime. B.Teens are mad at being controlled. C.Teens need both freedom and proper rules. D.Rules must be absolutely strict for teens. 7.What should parents do about their teens' choices? A.Support their helpful hobbies. B.Tell them which college to attend. C.Cancel their afterschool activities. D.Get them away from singing pop songs. 8.What is the best title for the text? A.How to Be With Growing Teens B.Causes of Teens' Sadness C.Teens' Worries About Strict Rules D.The Importance of Making Friends With Teens [二次精读] 重点单词 symptom ['sɪmptəm] n. 使沮丧 重点短语 complain about 抱怨 as long as只要 lead to 导致;引起 get through 经历;通过 语块积累 school subjects 学校课程 two lasting weeks 漫长的两周 need for freedom 对自由的需要 长难句分析 The US Department of Education says that parents should respect and support their teen's choices as long as those choices won't have longterm harmful effects. C (2023—2024学年南昌高一检测)I woke up this morning, excited but anxious,as today was the day I would begin my journey of senior high school. The school I attend is an allfemale boarding school, which is the only singlesex school in this city. Some people say singlesex schools are better than mixedsex ones in that they have classes specially designed for their male or female students.I am curious to know what such a school looks like.Thousands of thoughts flashed through my mind. Will I fit in?Will I make friends? Will I have nice teachers? What if I make a bad impression on the other girls? What if I can't concentrate in class as I did in junior high? After breakfast,I set off with Mom sitting beside me and Dad driving the car.We were warmly received by a group of seniors at the school gate.I said goodbye to Mom and Dad there. Some of the seniors helped take my suitcase to the dorm, where I met my three roommates,Sally,Laura and Amanda.Only two of us have Chinese nationality while Sally is Korean and Laura is American, who impressed me most with her beautiful eyes and sweet smile. Since we had no classes in the morning, the four of us decided to explore our campus. Our school is beautiful with tall trees, bright flowers, nicelooking grassland and buildings of the southern Chinese style.A bulletin board we passed by shows a lot of activity photos and says “With more than 50 student organizations on campus, there is a community for every interest.”I took a photo of the name list of the organizations so that I could study them carefully this weekend before I choose to register with some.I am looking forward to improving myself through group activities. 9.What is special about the school the author attends? 根据第二段中“Some teachers give students a chance to tell something about themselves to the rest of the class, too. 根据第四段中“The US Department of Education says that parents should respect and support their teen's choices as long as those choices won't have longterm harmful effects.
