B Every great idea begins with a spark of realization — and for Snehha Naarsaria, an accountant and a mom in Portugal, that spark came from her own home. Financial literacy (素养) is no longer a skill reserved for adults; it is becoming a fundamental part of a child’s education. But teaching financial concepts to a child turned out to be harder than Snehha Naarsaria had expected. There were no engaging tools no reliable resources, and no clear way to introduce these essential skills to a young mind. This disconnection between knowledge and application struck her deeply and that was when the idea for Fin Free Kid was born. Fin Free Kid is an distinctive initiative that equips children with essential money management skills through engaging books, flashcards, DIY kits, posters, and an immersive (沉浸式的) course. It offers comprehensive learning materials satisfying different aspects of financial literacy which are available through their website and Amazon. The resources aren’t just about teaching — they’re about empowering kids to think independently, make informed decisions, and develop habits that will serve them for life. With a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction, the program has earned widespread praise for its exceptional service and transformative impact on young learners. Parents have reported a noticeable shift in their children’s attitudes and behaviors after using Fin Free Kid’s products. Many children have developed the habit of saving money and learned to make more thoughtful spending choices. A feature in The Economic Times described Fin Free Kid as “a pioneer in financial education for kids, bridging the gap in a crucial area of learning.” With its growing popularity and the trust of parents across Portugal, Fin Free Kid plans to introduce advanced resources for older children and expand its partnerships with schools to integrate financial literacy into curricula. “Our mission is to ensure that every child has the tools and knowledge to deal with the complexities of the financial world,” says Snehha Naarsaria, “The changes we’ve seen in children so far are just the beginning. Together, we’re building financially literate generations.” 24. What primarily inspired Snehha Naarsaria to create Fin Free Kid? A. Her success as a professional accountant. B The lack of efficient educational resources. C. Children’s desire to learn money management. D. The gap between kids’ financial education and practice. 25. What makes Fin Free Kid special in terms of financial education? A. Use of Amazon for distribution. B. Parent-reported behavioral changes in kids. C. School partnerships and curricula integration. D. Engaging tools and promoting independent thinking. 26. What is the author’s purpose of quoting the feature in The Economic Times? A. To criticize traditional financial education. B. To highlight the program’s revolutionary role. C. To compare Fin Free Kid with other programs. D. To emphasize the organization’s widespread impact. 27. What is Snehha’s attitude towards the future of Fin Free Kid? A. Doubtful. B. Ambiguous. C. Positive. D. Unclear. C A new global review of data from the Spanish study found that increasing the number of daily steps, even if at modest levels, was associated with a reduction in depressive symptom (症状). Researchers led by Jimenez-Lopez, of the University of Castile-La Mancha, noted there’s already solid evidence that exercise of any kind is a natural antidepressant. But what about something as easy as walking? To find out, they looked at data from high-quality studies on daily step counts and their links to mental health. In total, the new review covered 33 studies involving a total of more than 96,000 adults worldwide. Studies included people who used fitness-tracker devices to calculate their daily steps. Compared to a baseline of 5,000 steps taken per day, folks who took even 1,000 more steps daily saw a 9% drop in their odds (概率) for developing depression, the researchers found. Those benefits quickly mounted up. Compared to folks walking 5,000 steps per day or less, those who walked 7,000 steps per day had a 31% lower odds for depression, the study found. “In addition, counts above 7,500 steps per day were associated with a 43% lower frequency of depression,” Jimenez-Lopez and colleagues wrote, and those trends held true for “all age groups, females and males.” There did seem to be a leveling out of mental health benefits at about 10,000 steps per day, the data showed. As has been observed in studies on physical health, “up to a level of about 10,000 steps per day, the odds for depression decline. However, increasing the number of steps beyond this point may not be associated with a significant reduction in depressive symptoms,” the researchers wrote. The new findings add walking to many other forms of physical activity—weight training, yoga and even tai chi—as ways to help prevent depression, the researchers said. “Setting goals for the number of daily steps can be a promising and inclusive public health strategy for the prevention of depression,” the study authors concluded. 28. Why was the new review conducted? A. To test fitness-tracker accuracy. B. To track global step count averages. C. To compare walking with weight training. D. To explore walking’s mental health benefits. 29. How is Paragraph 4 developed? A. By giving examples. B. By answering questions. C. By making comparison. D. By performing an experiment. 30. What can be concluded about walking 10,000 steps daily from the study? A. Benefits stop increasing significantly. B. Physical health improves dramatically. C. Risks of other diseases also drop sharply. D. Depression symptoms disappear completely. 31. Which of the following is the best title for the text? A. Exercise Choices:Comparing Benefits. B. Step Count:A Natural Mood Controller. C. Fitness Trackers:Promoting Daily Activity. D. Public Health:Strategies Against Depression. D If you ever feel that the world is against you, you are not alone. We all have a tendency to assume that when anything goes wrong, the fault lies within some great intrigue (诡计) against us. If a co-worker fails the deadline, they must be trying to ruin career. When WiFi in a coffee shop is not working, the staff must be lying about having it to attract you in. But the simple fact is that these explanations, which we tend to jump to, are barely true. Maybe your co-worker thought today was Tuesday, not Wednesday. Maybe the WiFi router was just broken. This is where Hanlon’s razor comes in — a useful mental model that never credits to intentional harm that can be fully explained by ignorance. Applying Hanlon’s razor, a useful tool for rapid decision-making and intelligent comprehension, in our day-to-day lives allows us to become less judgmental, and improve reasoning skills. Meanwhile, Hanlon’s razor allows us to give people the benefit of the doubt, have more empathy (同理心) and teaches us not to assume the worst intention in the actions of others, the value of which is most pronounced in relationships, business matters, and personal happiness. We all lead complex lives where things are constantly going wrong. When this occurs, a common response is to blame the nearest person and assume they have bad intention. However, when someone messes up around us, we forget how many times we, too, have done the same. Instead, the perpetrator becomes a source of intense annoyance. To assume intention in such a situation is likely to worsen the problem. None of us can ever know what someone else wants to happen. Inability or ignorance is far more likely to be the cause than the desire to hurt. When a situation causes us to become angry or upset, it can be valuable to consider if those emotions are justified. Often, the best way to react to other people causing us problems is by seeking to educate them, not to dismiss them. In this way, we can avoid repeats of the same situation. 32. How do people typically react to failures according to the text? A. Face true ill intention. B. Shift current situations. C. Misplace blame on others. D. Seek trustworthy persons. 33. What does Hanlon’s razor refer to? A. It identifies who is to blame. B. It is a device for router repair. C. It avoids assuming harm by ignorance. D. It is an approach for colleague’s fault. 34. What does the underlined word “perpetrator” in paragraph 4 mean? A. An error maker. B. An issue fixer. C. A blame sharer. D. A familiar person. 35. What will probably be discussed next in the text? A How to control the bad emotions. B. How to instruct others effectively. C. How to change the nervous relationship. D. How to avoid reappearance of the same situation. Love your dog, but hate that pet dog smell that lingers (逗留) around the house? The heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds, lasted for about an hour. At that time, my mother and I were chatting with two neighbors at the door of the supermarket when we received a call from my father asking us not to step out of the place until the rain stopped. As it was raining cats and dogs, none of us dared to go out. A sudden shout made us alert. We were terrified to see a boy about 15 years old lying on the street, fighting for his life. He rolled over on the ground with an electric wire on his body. It turned out that a broken electric wire from the supermarket had fallen on him, causing an electric shock. The narrow street, covered with rainwater, offered little space for a rescue operation. I quickly called the power board and asked them to cut the main power, and then I dialed 911, urging them to arrange an ambulance to get the boy to the nearest hospital. As a young girl I could only do these. Meanwhile, my mother and the neighbors shouted for help loudly. A gentleman in his early forties found a long bamboo stick and swiftly wrapped one end with insulation (绝缘) material. He then carefully used the stick to remove the electric wire from the boy. As the ground was wet with rain water, it was extremely risky to go near the victim. There was a possibility of getting electrified if one dared to get close to him. “The boy could be a milkman,” a lady in the crowd said while pointing to the small tins of milk on the floor. “The boy must have suffered a lot”, someone from the crowd said. At that moment, I desperately wished for an immediate power shutdown and for an ambulance to arrive as quickly as possible. I kept praying for him. Thankfully, the main power was switched off and the ambulance arrived soon. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next morning, I learned about the updates in the morning news on TV. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$英语听力部分,该部分分为第一第二两节。 Hello, international friends club. can I help you? Financial literacy (素养) is no longer a skill reserved for adults; it is becoming a fundamental part of a child’s education. But teaching financial concepts to a child turned out to be harder than Snehha Naarsaria had expected. There were no engaging tools, no reliable resources, and no clear way to introduce these essential skills to a young mind. With a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction the program has earned widespread praise for its exceptional service and transformative impact on young learners. B. The lack of efficient educational resources. A. Doubtful. B. Ambiguous. C. Positive. D. Unclear. 24. D 25. D 26. B 27. D 29. C 30. A 31. 根据文章第二段的句子“But what about something as easy as walking?(但是像走路这样简单的事情呢?)” 和第三段 “To find out, they looked at data from high-quality studies on daily step counts and their links to mental health.(为了找到答案,他们研究了来自高质量研究的数据,这些研究涉及每日步数及其与心理健康的关系。)” 根据第四段的句子“Compared to a baseline of 5,000 steps taken per day, folks who took even 1,000 more steps daily saw a 9% drop in their odds (概率) for developing depression, the researchers found. Those benefits quickly mounted up. Compared to folks walking 5,000 steps per day or less, those who walked 7,000 steps per day had a 31% lower odds for depression, the study found.(研究人员发现,与每天走5000步的基线相比,每天多走1000步的人患抑郁症的几率降低了9%。这些好处很快就增加了。研究发现,与每天步行5000步或更少的人相比,每天步行7000步的人患抑郁症的几率要低31%。)”可知,第四段通过比较不同步数(如5,000步、7,000步、7,500步和10,000步)对抑郁症风险的影响来展开。故选C项。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段的句子“There did seem to be a leveling out of mental health benefits at about 10,000 steps per day, the data showed.(数据显示,每天走1万步左右,对心理健康的益处似乎会趋于平稳。)”和第五段“As has been observed in studies on physical health,  “up to a level of about 10,000 steps per day, the odds for depression decline. However, increasing the number of steps beyond this point may not be associated with a significant reduction in depressive symptoms,”  the researchers wrote.(正如对身体健康的研究所观察到的那样,“每天走一万步左右,患抑郁症的几率就会下降。”然而,增加超过这个点的步数可能与抑郁症状的显着减少无关,”研究人员写道。)”可知,每天走10,000步左右时,心理健康益处趋于稳定,超过这个步数,抑郁症症状的减少不再显著。故选A项。 根据文章内容,特别是第一段“A new global review of data from the Spanish study found that increasing the number of daily steps, even if at modest levels, was associated with a reduction in depressive symptom.(一项针对西班牙研究数据的全球最新综述表明,即使每日步数仅适度增加,也与抑郁症状减轻存在关联。)” D If you ever feel that the world is against you, you are not alone. A. How to control the bad emotions. B. How to instruct others effectively. C. How to change the nervous relationship. D. How to avoid reappearance of the same situation. C 33. C 34. A 35. 根据第一段“If you ever feel that the world is against you, you are not alone. We all have a tendency to assume that when anything goes wrong, the fault lies within some great intrigue (诡计) against us.(如果你觉得这个世界在与你作对,你并不孤单。 根据第二段“But the simple fact is that these explanations, which we tend to jump to, are barely true. Maybe your co-worker thought today was Tuesday, not Wednesday. Maybe the WiFi router was just broken. This is where Hanlon’s razor comes in — a useful mental model that never credits to intentional harm that can be fully explained by ignorance.(但简单的事实是,我们倾向于得出的这些解释几乎是不真实的。 根据画线词上文“When this occurs, a common response is to blame the nearest person and assume they have bad intention. However, when someone messes up around us, we forget how many times we, too, have done the same.( 当这种情况发生时,一种常见的反应是责怪离自己最近的人,并认为他们怀有恶意。 故选A。 根据最后一段“Often, the best way to react to other people causing us problems is by seeking to educate them, not to dismiss them. In this way, we can avoid repeats of the same situation.(通常,对别人给我们造成的问题做出反应的最好方法是寻求教育他们,而不是解雇他们。 Love your dog, but hate that pet dog smell that lingers (逗留) around the house? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Paragraph 1 Thankfully, the main power was switched off and the ambulance arrived soon. The medical team rushed out, equipped with first-aid kits. They swiftly assessed the boy’s condition, with serious looks on their faces. One cleaned the wounds on his body, while another monitored his vital signs. The kind gentleman who’d helped with the wire guided them through the rescue steps. We onlookers watched anxiously, hoping for a miracle. Soon, the boy was carried onto the ambulance and driven away, leaving us all in uncertainty. Paragraph 2 The next morning, I learned about the updates in the morning news on TV. The reporter announced joyously that the boy had pulled through. He was a determined teen, working part-time as a milkman to ease his family’s financial burden. The community welcomed the rescue efforts, and the heroic actions of everyone involved were highly praised. It was the gentleman’s quick and professional reaction that played a vital role in saving the electrified boy. I felt a warm sense of relief, knowing that our combined efforts had saved a life in that stormy chaos. 词汇激活 行为类 ①评估:assess/evaluate ②帮助:help/assist ③宣布:announce/declare ④对……起重要作用:play a vital role in/play an important part in 情绪类 ①快乐地:joyously/cheerfully ②有决心的:determined/resolved 【点睛】[高分句型1]The kind gentleman who’d helped with the wire guided them through the rescue steps.(运用了who引导定语从句) [高分句型2]It was the gentleman’s quick and professional reaction that played a vital role in saving the electrified boy.(运用了强调句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
