【原题重现】 Grga Brkic never expected that a mountain-climbing trip would put him in such a desperate situation. That Sunday, while climbing the highest peak of the Velebit mountain range, which was about 5,800 feet above coastline, he accidentally slipped and fell nearly 500 feet down a snowy slope (斜坡). The fall caused his leg to be severely broken and he couldn't move at all. He was filled with fear, knowing clearly that if no one came to rescue him, he might die of the freezing temperature in this snowy place. Fortunately, two nearby hikers spotted Brkic and his eight-month-old Alaskan malamute(阿拉斯加犬), North, at the bottom of the slope. However, they couldn't reach them safely. After a brief discussion, they knew they had no choice but to rush off in search of professional rescuers. Before they left, they dropped some necessary supplies to the bottom of the slope so that Brkic could keep his strength and energy. In spite of that, Brkic couldn't help being shivering(颤抖) in the snow with the temperature getting lower and lower. At this critical moment, North, sensing its master's great danger,immediately sprang into action. It circled around Brkic a few times, as if assessing the best way to help. Then, with a gentle yet determined motion, it slowly and carefully laid itself over Brkic 's body, making sure to cover as much of him as possible. As an Alaskan malamute, North are naturally resistant to cold, whose waterproof double coats can keep it warm even in temperatures as low as-20。F.
