John: Hello, ChatGPT! I'm John. What can you do to help people? For example, improve their English?
ChatGPT: As an AI(人工智能) language model, I can do many things to help people improve their English. I can offer advice on grammar and vocabulary, help with pronunciation and provide feedback(反馈) on written or spoken English. What's more, I can take part in conversation with people in English which can help them practice their language skills interestingly and naturally. Would you like me to help you with any problems of your English?
John: No, not at the moment. That sounds even more powerful than some English teachers. So do you think you'll replace(替代) some human beings in some areas, such as English teachers, news reporters or people who do customer service work?
ChatGPT: No. I don't think I can replace them completely. Though I can provide useful help in many areas, I am still a machine and there are things only human beings can do. English teaching, news reporting and serving are far more than skills. They are also about feelings, thoughts, cultures and so on. However, I believe that I can be a valuable tool to support and improve the work of human beings in these fields. By working together, better results can be achieved to those we serve.
John: Great. I like your ideas. So my next question is, what advice would you give to human beings in order to be better prepared for the future?
ChatGPT: Good question, John. Here are a few pieces of advice for people to think about. First, develop thinking ability. In a word, instead of copying others' ideas, you should have your own thoughts. Next, learn to work together with machines. Don't be afraid of AI, it's important to know how to work together with machines to improve your own abilities. Then, develop skills only human beings have, like creativity, and empathy(共情). Fourth, keep learning and changing. The world is changing fast and it's important to stay up to date with the latest developments in technology and other fields. I hope these tips are helpful, John.

The Secret Language of Bees
Bees are not just honey-makers; they are nature's top communicators. When a worker bee finds a good flower field, it performs a "waggle dance"(摇摆舞) inside the hive. The bee moves in a figure-eight pattern while shaking its body. The angle(角度) of the dance shows the direction of the flowers relative to the sun, and the speed tells how far away they are. For example, a fast dance means the flowers are within 100 meters, while a slow dance could mean 5 kilometers away!
But there's more. Bees also use smells to communicate. They produce special chemicals(化学物质) called pheromones. The queen bee's pheromones keep the colony(领地) organized. If she dies, worker bees will immediately sense the missing smell and start raising a new queen. Moreover, bees use different pheromones to signal danger, mark food sources, or even guide lost bees back to the hive.
Scientists have developed tiny robot bees to study this language. These robots can copy the waggle dance, and real bees actually follow their instructions! This research helps farmers improve crop pollination(授粉) by understanding bee behavior better. For instance, by knowing how bees communicate, farmers can plant flowers in patterns that attract more bees, leading to better crop yields.
Moreover, bees' communication skills are so amazing that they can even change their dances based on the time of day and the position of the sun. This ability makes sure that the information they express is always correct, regardless of changing environmental conditions. In conclusion, bees are not only essential for honey production but also play an important role in keeping the balance of our ecosystem. Their communication methods, including the waggle dance and pheromones, are vital for their lives. Understanding these methods not only fascinates scientists but also provides practical benefits(益处) for agriculture and environmental conservation.
33. If a bee dances slowly in a northeast direction, what information is it giving?
A. Close flowers in the northeast. B. Far flowers in the northeast.
C. Close flowers in the southwest. D. Far flowers in the southwest.
34. Which of the following is NOT the function of pheromones?
A. Showing the direction of the flowers. B. Organizing the colony.
C. Signaling danger. D. Guiding lost bees back to the hive.
35. What can we learn from the text?
A. Bees use only one method to communicate.
B. Robot bees can completely work like real bees.
C. Studying bee communication benefits agriculture.
D. Worker bees produce the strongest pheromones.
36. What's the best title for this passage?
A. The Life Cycle of Bees. B. How Bees Make Honey.
C. The Role of Bees in Nature. D. Bee Communication Wonders.

五、阅读短文,回答问题(共4小题;第1-3题每题2分,第4题3分,满分9分)
阅读下面短文,回答问题。第1-3题的答案不超过10个字,第4题的答案字数不限。
Sometimes people call each other "scared-cat," but have you ever thought about this word? When a cat is afraid, its heart starts beating faster, its muscles get tense(紧张), and there are changes in the chemicals in its bloodstream. Its body is getting ready for action. If the danger continues, the animal will do one of two things. It will defend itself, or it will run away as fast as it can.
Something like this also happens to people. You can recall such memories in your daily life. Human beings, however, have a problem that animals never face. When we release our feelings or give way to our emotions freely, we can get into trouble with feelings. Have you ever said something in anger and regretted(后悔) it later? Have you ever shouted at your friend, told somebody you were lonely, or said you were in love, and then wished later had kept your mouth shut? It isn't always clever to express your feelings freely.
Does this mean that it's smarter always to hide our feelings? No! If you keep feelings of anger, sadness hidden away or bottled up inside, your body stays tense. Physical illness can be caused. It can actually be bad for your health.
Feelings that you keep all bottled up inside don't just go away. It's as if you bought some bananas and stuck them in a cupboard. You might not be able to see them, but before long you'd smell them. And if you opened the cupboard, chances are you'd see little fruit flies flying all over them. They will be rotten.(腐烂)
So, emotions should be taken good care of and you should try to deal with your emotions in the way that works for you.
41. What may be caused if you hide your feelings?
42. If a scared-cat faces danger, what will it do?
43. When do people often get into trouble with feelings?
44. How can middle school students deal with their emotions wisely?
