Hong Yunzi is the director of Hefei Volunteer Home.She was born in Changyang, Hubei Province.Her family lived a very poor life.Luckily, they received a lot of help from the neighbors.That influenced young Hong Yunzi greatly.
At the age of 18, Hong met two strangers who were rheumatic (风湿病) patients.Hearing about their illness, she bought medicine for them.Three years later, Hong went to Hangzhou to work.She had no money, but she still looked for chances to help others.Then she decided to donate blood.
In 2008, she went to Hefei, visiting more than 100 old people.During the visit, Hong saw many old people who were helpless and seriously ill.She cried her heart out.In two years, Hong founded the Hefei Volunteer Home.At first, there was no place, no money, and they were often misunderstood.But she didn't give up because of these difficulties.
Now, Hefei Volunteer Home has donated tens of thousands of clothes to poor areas, and helped hundreds of seriously ill patients, such as donating money to them.When asked why she has been doing volunteer work for so many years, Hong Yunzi replied, “I have no other idea.I just want to help others.”
