根据Admission and opening time中“Open daily 10:00 to 17:30. Open until 20:30 on Fridays, EXCEPT Good Friday. (每日开放时间为10:00至17:30。周五开放至20:30,除了耶稣受难日)”和“Closed on 24, 25 and 26 December and 1 January. (12月24、25及26日及1月1日闭馆)”可知,周一博物馆从10:00至17:30是开放的,因此可在12点去参观。故选B项。 【2题详解】 细节理解题。根据Large luggage, suitcases and cabin baggage中“Storage for large luggage is available at major train stations (各大火车站都有存放大件行李的地方)”可知,游客可以把他们的大件行李存放在主要的火车站。故选A项。 B Teachers in poor areas are always being asked to do more with less. They're given smaller budgets and larger tasks in schools that employ fewer teachers and take in more students. But none of these struggles can quite compare to the challenges faced by a computing teacher Akoto in Ghana who teaches his students how to use computers. Akoto recently posted photos of his classroom, and they've gotten quite a response. Akoto is an information and communication technology (ICT) teacher who has been assigned to teach his students without using an actual computer. So like any good teacher, Akoto teaches them by drawing pictures of a computer on the blackboard. Akoto recently shared images of one of his computer lessons, in which he can be seen using multi-colored chalk to draw the features of Microsoft Word software on the blackboard. In one of the photos, you can see his students drawing the same images in their notebooks. One might ask, "Why do they bother to take such a challenging course?" But here's the reason: Even though the students at Akoto's school don't have computers, they are still required to pass a national exam that includes a section on computing skills before they move or to high school. So Akoto does what he needs to do to ensure that his students understand the material He has drawn pictures many times for his students over his six years and just happened to share the pictures this time on Facebook. He says he has his own personal laptop, but it is different from the one Akoto is required to teach. He doesn't bring it to class for fear of confusing the kids with a computer that they have never seen. The good news is that those Facebook pictures made their way to the right place. Microsoft Africa promised to give him some proper resources. Others also stepped up to the plate and helped out Akoto. NIIT Ghana, an information technology training institution, donated five computers to Akoto's school and one for Akoto himself. A PhD student at the University of Leeds in the U. K. inspired by Akoto also donated a computer. 4. Which of the following best describes the state of Akoto's school? A. Well-funded. B. Underdeveloped. C. Full-equipped. D. Unattended. 5. How do Akoto's students react to his classes? A. They model after his behavior in class. B. They learn to identify multi-colored chalk. C. They usually take photos of the computers. D. They often share images of their lessons online. 6. Why does Akoto choose not to bring his own laptop to his classes? A. He is unwilling to share it. B. He is confused by its system. C. He is uncertain about its function. D. He is afraid to puzzle his students 7. What can we conclude from the last paragraph? A To stand still is to move back. B. Actions speak louder than words. C. Great things can be achieved by joint effort. D. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. B 5. A 6. D 7. 根据第一段“Teachers in poor areas are always being asked to do more with less. They're given smaller budgets and larger tasks in schools that employ fewer teachers and take in more students. But none of these struggles can quite compare to the challenges faced by a computing teacher Akoto in Ghana who teaches his students how to use computers.(贫困地区的教师总是被要求用更少的钱做更多的事。 他们被给予更少的预算和更大的任务在学校雇用更少的教师和接收更多的学生。 但是,这些困难都无法与加纳计算机老师Akoto所面临的挑战相提并论。Akoto教他的学生如何使用计算机)”以及第二段中“Akoto recently posted photos of his classroom, and they've gotten quite a response. Akoto is an information and communication technology (ICT) teacher who has been assigned to teach his students without using an actual computer. (Akoto最近贴出了他教室的照片,他们得到了相当多的回应。 Akoto是一名信息和通信技术教师,他被指派在不使用电脑的情况下教他的学生)”可推知,Akoto所在的学校教学条件比较落后。故选B。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Akoto recently shared images of one of his computer lessons, in which he can be seen using multi-colored chalk to draw the features of Microsoft Word software on the blackboard. In one of the photos, you can see his students drawing the same images in their notebooks.( Akoto最近分享了他的一节计算机课的图片,可以看到他在黑板上用彩色粉笔画出了微软Word软件的特征。 在其中一张照片中,你可以看到他的学生在他们的笔记本上画同样的图像)”可知,Akoto的学生在课堂上模仿他在笔记本上画出同样的图像。故选A。 根据第五段中“He doesn't bring it to class for fear of confusing the kids with a computer that they have never seen.(他没有把它带到课堂上,因为他担心孩子们会因为一台他们从未见过的电脑而感到困惑)”可知,Akoto不把自己的笔记本电脑带进教室是因为害怕孩子们会把他的电脑和他画的电脑混淆。 根据最后一段“The good news is that those Facebook pictures made their way to the right place. Microsoft Africa promised to give him some proper resources. Others also stepped up to the plate and helped out Akoto. NIIT Ghana, an information technology training institution, donated five computers to Akoto's school and one for Akoto himself. A PhD student at the University of Leeds in the U. K. inspired by Akoto also donated a computer.(好消息是,这些Facebook上的照片到了正确的地方。微软非洲承诺给他一些适当的资源。其他人也站出来帮助Akoto。加纳信息技术培训机构NIIT向Akoto的学校捐赠了五台电脑,给Akoto本人捐赠了一台。 受Akoto启发,英国利兹大学的一名博士生也捐赠了一台电脑)”可知,Akoto分享的照片引起了很大的反响,大家纷纷帮助他们。故C项“众人拾柴火焰高”符合题意。故选C。 C California has lost half its big trees since the 1930s, according to a study to be published Tuesday and climate change seems to be a major factor(因素). The number of trees larger than two feet across has declined by 50 percent on more than 46, 000 square miles of California forests, the new study finds. No area was spared or unaffected, from the foggy northern coast to the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the San Gabriels above Los Angeles. In the Sierra high country, the number of big trees has fallen by more than 55 percent; in parts of southern California the decline was nearly 75 percent. Many factors contributed to the decline, said Patrick McIntyre, an ecologist who was the lead author of the study. Woodcutters targeted big trees. Housing development pushed into the woods. Aggressive wildfire control has left California forests crowded with small trees that compete with big trees for resources(资源). But in comparing a study of California forests done in the 1920s and 1930s with another one between 2001 and 2010, McIntyre and his colleagues documented a widespread death of big trees that was evident even in wildlands protected from woodcutting or development. The loss of big trees was greatest in areas where trees had suffered the greatest water shortage. The researchers figured out water stress with a computer model that calculated how much water trees were getting in comparison with how much they needed, taking into account such things as rainfall, air temperature, dampness of soil, and the timing of snowmelt(融雪). Since the 1930s, McIntyre said, the biggest factors driving up water stress in the state have been rising temperatures, which cause trees to lose more water to the air, and earlier snowmelt, which reduces the water supply available to trees during the dry season. 8. What is the second paragraph mainly about? A. The seriousness of big-tree loss in California. B. The increasing variety of California big trees. C. The distribution of big trees in California forests. D. The influence of farming on big trees in California. 9. Which of the following is well-intentioned but may be bad for big trees? A. Ecological studies of forests. B. Banning woodcutting. C. Limiting housing development. D. Fire control measures. 10. What is a major cause of the water shortage according to McIntyre? A. Inadequate snowmelt. B. A longer dry season. C. A warmer climate. D. Dampness of the air. 11. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. California’s Forests: Where Have All the Big Trees Gone? B. Cutting of Big Trees to Be Prohibited in California Soon C. Why Are the Big Trees Important to California Forests? D. Patrick McIntyre: Grow More Big Trees in California 【答案】8. A 9. D 10. C 11. Aggressive wildfire control has left California forests crowded with small trees that compete with big trees for resources(资源). 根据最后一段the biggest factors driving up water stress in the state have been rising temperatures, which cause trees to lose more water to the air, and earlier snowmelt, which reduces the water supply available to trees during the dry season. A。 D Although it is a business not many are aware of, sidewalk robots are set to become an industry with annual sales of $1 billion within a decade. These four-or six-wheeled autonomous machines, usually the size of a suitcase, are already delivering groceries in America, China and Europe, which puts them ahead of many driverless cars and lorries being developed. Those bigger vehicles are held back not by technology but regulation. This means having a “safety driver” on board ready to take over if there is a problem, which is hardly labour-saving. For these larger vehicles, regulators want to see safety systems thoroughly proved. In January 2022, Britain’s Law Commission, which reviews lawmaking, recommended that it should not be the person in the driver’s seat who faces prosecution if a vehicle in autonomous mode crashes, but the manufacturer or the body that sought approval for its use. However, sidewalk robots are getting on with the job. For example, Starship Technologies, based in San Francisco, estimates it has already clocked up more than 2.5 million deliveries with robots in a number of cities, universities and business parks in Europe and America. Amazon is carrying out trials with a similar sort of machine. Kiwibot, a Colombian startup, is making sidewalk deliveries in California. Udelv, a Californian firm, is developing a larger type called Transporter to operate at highway speeds. Sidewalk robots carry a few bags of groceries using a variety of sensors, including cameras, radar and GPS to navigate and avoid obstacles and people. Their progress can be monitored on a phone app, which also unlocks them for goods to be removed. As they are small, move slowly and are “telemonitored” by people in a control room who can take over, authorities seem more willing to give them a green light. Such robots are becoming more autonomous. Being much further along the road in earning their keep, these delivery robots are helping to pave the way for the time when bigger autonomous vehicles can join them. 12. What is paragraph 2 mainly about? A. Problems caused by autonomous cars. B. Suggestions for producing intelligent robots. C. Challenges faced by large driverless vehicles. D. The innovative technology of delivery vehicles. 13. Why does the author give some examples in paragraph 3? A. To prove the safety of autonomous machines. B. To present the development of sidewalk robots. C. To encourage the public to create more robots. D. To show the advantages of self-driving technology. 14. What can we know about sidewalk robots? A. They are environmentally friendly. B. They can distinguish traffic lights on the road. C. They make deliveries faster than ordinary trucks. D. They make it easy for people to track the delivery process. 15. Which section of a magazine is this text probably taken from? A. Sports and music. B. Business and culture. C. Science and technology. D. Nature and geography. C 13. B 14. D 15. 根据第二段“Those bigger vehicles are held back not by technology but regulation. This means having a “safety driver” on board ready to take over if there is a problem, which is hardly labour-saving. For these larger vehicles, regulators want to see safety systems thoroughly proved. In January 2022, Britain’s Law Commission, which reviews lawmaking, recommended that it should not be the person in the driver’s seat who faces prosecution if a vehicle in autonomous mode crashes, but the manufacturer or the body that sought approval for its use.(那些更大的汽车不是受到技术的限制,而是受到监管的限制。 根据第三段“However, sidewalk robots are getting on with the job. Udelv, a Californian firm, is developing a larger type called Transporter to operate at highway speeds.(然而,人行道机器人正在继续这项工作。 根据倒数第二段中“Their progress can be monitored on a phone app, which also unlocks them for goods to be removed.(它们的进程可以在一款手机应用程序上监控,该应用程序还可以解锁它们,以便将商品移除)”可知,人行道机器人使人们很容易跟踪送货过程。 根据第一段“Although it is a business not many are aware of, sidewalk robots are set to become an industry with annual sales of $1 billion within a decade. These four-or six-wheeled autonomous machines, usually the size of a suitcase, are already delivering groceries in America, China and Europe, which puts them ahead of many driverless cars and lorries being developed.(虽然很多人都不知道这个行业,但在十年内,人行道机器人将成为一个年销售额达到10亿美元的行业。 No matter what your goals are in life, there is one great law that you need to obey in order to be successful: No one else is going to climb the ladder (梯子) of success for you. ____16____ Prom the day you leave your parents’ house, you are responsible for your life and the choices you make. If you want a better life, you need to make better decisions. ____17____ However, it doesn’t change anything. Only you can change your life by changing the choices you make. Take responsibility for everything in your life. Even if it’s not in your direct control, you can always choose how you respond. ____18____ If you choose what is fun and easy over what is necessary, you will never reach the levels of success and happiness you are capable of achieving in your life. That’s because every great victory requires great sacrifice. If success was easy, everybody would be success. There is nothing that you can’t achieve with hard work. People often think that their lives will suddenly change through some magical event in the future. ____19____ Your life changes only to the extent that you change. Nothing will ever change if you don’t change what you do daily. A great way to actively create your future is to ask yourself: If I already achieved my goals, how would I act on a daily basis? What books would I read, how often would I work out, and how would I spend my time at the office? ____20____ A. But that is not the case. B. No one else is responsible for your life. C. Now these questions seem like magic to you. D. Nothing else can be the drive for your success. E. Once you answer these questions, you know what to do. F. The biggest enemy to success is the path of least resistance. G. You can blame other people for your lack of happiness all life long. B 17. G 18. F 19. A 20. 【16题详解】 根据上文“No one else is going to climb the ladder (梯子) of success for you.(没有人能为你爬上成功的阶梯)”和下文“From the day you leave your parents’ house, you are responsible for your life and the choices you make.(你离开父母家的那一天起,你就要为自己的生活和所做的选择负责)”可知,没人能为我们爬上成功的阶梯,离家之后我们就要对自己负责。 【17题详解】 根据下文“However, it doesn’t change anything. Only you can change your life by changing the choices you make.(然而,这并没有改变什么。只有你能通过改变自己的选择来改变自己的人生)”推知,空处陈述了一种我们常常做但却没有任何意义、不能对自己的人生做出任何改变的行为。G项“你可以将一生的不幸福归咎于他人”符合题意,下文的it指代选项所陈述的内容。故选G。 【18题详解】 空处为本段主旨句。根据下文“If you choose what is fun and easy over what is necessary, you will never reach the levels of success and happiness you are capable of achieving in your life. That’s because every great victory requires great sacrifice. If success was easy, everybody would be success.(如果你选择了有趣而简单的东西而不是必要的东西,你将永远不会达到你在生活中能够达到的成功和幸福的水平。因为每一个伟大的胜利都需要巨大的牺牲。如果成功很容易,每个人都会成功)”可知,成功需要需要牺牲,选择简单和乐趣是不能成功的。由此推知,空处提出成功忌讳选择简单容易的方式。F项“成功的最大敌人是阻力最小的道路”符合题意,the path of least resistance指代下文的what is fun and easy 。故选F。 【19题详解】 根据上文“People often think that their lives will suddenly change through some magical event in the future.(人们经常认为他们的生活会因为未来的一些神奇事件而突然改变)”和下文“Your life changes only to the extent that you change. Nothing will ever change if you don’t change what you do daily.(你的生活只有在你改变的程度上才会改变。如果你不改变你每天做的事情,什么都不会改变)”可知,生活不会因为一些神奇的事情而改变,除非你自己做出改变。由此推知,空处陈述上文提到的情况并非事实。A项“但事实并非如此”符合题意,承上启下。故选A。 根据上文“If I already achieved my goals, how would I act on a daily basis? What books would I read, how often would I work out, and how would I spend my time at the office? Mariah Reading is an environmentalist, who grew up with an early appreciation for nature. Where’s your stuff?” Frey asked, lifting his bat onto his shoulder. Jack shook his head, “I have to clean Mr. Willow’s garage before I can go. With his broken arm, he can’t do it himself. My mom always volunteers me to help the Willows. She thinks they’re kind of old and can’t afford to hire a cleaner. To get the work done earlier, Frey offered to help. The boys went down the block to the Willow’s and got started. They found a couple of brooms. Before they swept, they put boxes scattered around the garage floor on shelves. As Jack put a big box on a shelf, it fell off and with it fell an envelope. He picked it up. It wasn’t sealed, so he opened it. Out of his surprise, there were several one hundred dollar bills inside. “You’ve got to see this. ” He pulled out the bills and showed Frey, “It just fell down when the box fell. There’s got to be several hundred dollars here.” Jack looked past Frey to the garage door and continued, “Nobody’s here. If we take some, I bet no one will ever know.” Before his voice died away, Jack had already drawn out one bill and stuffed it into his pocket. Frey frowned and shook his head, “Are you crazy? That’s stealing.” Jack ignored him and protested, “Well, I do a lot of chores for them and don’t get paid. It’s not really stealing. It’s kind of payment for my hard work. And one hundred will do for a bat and glove in I go’s Sports Stores.” With this, Jack put the rest money back. B Teachers in poor areas are always being asked to do more with less They're given smaller budgets and larger tasks in schools that employ fewer teachers and take in more students. C California has lost half its big trees since the 1930s, according to a study to be published Tuesday and climate change seems to be a major factor(因素). D. Patrick McIntyre: Grow More Big Trees in California D Although it is a business not many are aware of, sidewalk robots are set to become an industry with annual sales of $1 billion within a decade. C To encourage the public to create more robots. D. Summer vacation just began. The boys planned to play baseball every day, so they could make the team in the following semester. Jack was waiting outside for Frey. “What are you doing?
