A well-known poem by Tang dynasty poet Du Mu tells of a scene in early April: “Rains fall heavily as Qingming comes, and pedestrians with lowered spirits go.”
This scene takes place on Tomb Sweeping Day, also known as Qingming Festival. Tomb Sweeping Day is a traditional Chinese festival. It began in the Zhou Dynasty, over 2,500 years ago. Chinese people celebrate it to remember their ancestors (祖先). This year, it falls on April 4th. Tomb Sweeping Day became a holiday in the Chinese main land in 2008. People have one day off for that day.
On this day, families offer food and flowers to the dead to remember the loved ones they lost. After that, they sweep the tombs and cherish (怀念) the memories of their dead family members. Tomb Sweeping Day gives us a chance to show respect (尊敬) to our ancestors and family members who have passed away (逝世) and show that we miss them. This tradition shows that family values (价值观) are an important part of Chinese culture.
Different from the sad tomb sweepers, people also enjoy hope of spring. Tomb Sweeping Day is a time when the sun shines brightly, trees and grass turn green and nature is full of life again. Since ancient times, people have followed the custom of spring outings. At this time, you can see people here and there, enjoying the spring. Parents of some 50,000 kids in the United States aged 6 to 17 took a survey. The findings of the survey show that volunteering has a positive effect (积极影响) to raise higher levels of happiness, life-satisfaction, a sense of control over life and mental health.
The study comes at an important time. In another report, more than 40% of high school students said that they had ever felt sad or hopeless. So there’s a clear need to improve students’ mental health. It’s a good way to give back to the community. Many teachers are afraid that students will use the artificial intelligence (AI) tool ChatGPT to write their reports or do their homework. But other educators are including (包括) it in the classroom.
Donnie Piercey is a teacher in Kentucky. He told his 23 fifth-grade students to try and make full use of the tool that was creating writing. Piercey says his job is to prepare students for a world where knowledge (知识) of AI will be needed. He describes ChatGPT as just the newest technology (技术). But it also makes teachers worry about that students may be not honest (诚实的) in the exams. “As educators, we haven't found out the best way to use artificial intelligence yet,” he added. “But it’s coming, whether we want it or not.”
What is ChatGPT? ChatGPT is a very modern AI chatbot trained by OpenAI which communicates in a conversational (对话的) way. The conversational program makes it possible for ChatGPT to answer questions, agree about its mistakes, challenge incorrect ideas, and refuse wrong orders. ChatGPT quickly became popular after it came out last November. Many educators around the country say schools need time to get ready for the chatbot. But they also think saying no to AI will be useless against students.
______ One student said, “They can help students who have trouble putting their thoughts into writing.” “You can use it for advice, but should not use it to do all the work. You shouldn’t fully depend on it,” said McCormick, a ten-year-old student. “You’re not learning anything if you input (输入) what you want, and then it gives you the answer.”
36. What is NOT Piercey’s opinion on ChatGPT?
A. We should fully use ChatGPT which creates writing.
B. The artificial intelligence is coming.
C. With ChatGPT, people needn’t worry about students may be dishonest in the exams.
D. Teachers should get students ready for a world where AI knowledge will be needed.
37. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A. artificial intelligence B. the best way
C. the possibility D. being not honest
38. What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
A. ChatGPT can ask and answer questions itself.
B. ChatGPT can challenge correct ideas.
C. ChatGPT can refuse to accept orders which are not right.
D. Saying no to AI will be useless against educators around the country.
39. Which of the following can be put in the ________?

根据“But it also makes teachers worry about that students may be not honest in the exams.”
根据“As educators, we haven’t found out the best way to use artificial intelligence yet,” he added. “But it’s coming, whether we want it or not.” 故选A。
根据“The conversational program makes it possible for ChatGPT to answer questions, agree about its mistakes, challenge incorrect ideas, and refuse wrong orders.”

Anyunna Phillips, a teacher in Atlanta, makes a special rule for her students. The rule is that every morning, students stand in front of a mirror. One by one, they take turns looking at themselves in the mirror and saying some positive affirmations (肯定). Some of their favourites are, “I’m strong!” and “I’m not afraid of anything!” After that, Anyunna cheers and agrees with them, sometimes offering a high five.
“It seems that students walk away from the mirror standing a little taller after doing that. I always remind them of their daily affirmations and tell them they can make anything. I really want to help them build their confidence.” said Anyunna. And she also believed that students can do their best when they think they can make anything.
The students aren’t the only ones who are benefiting from Anyunna’s daily affirmations. She says her own mental health has improved since she started the program, and other teachers follow the rule in the school and are seeing success in other classrooms, too.
Then on her website pages where she writes down feel-good messages, many people have given positive response (回应). “It’s been amazing. So many people are sending so many positive messages or sharing their own stories and they say I’ve encouraged (鼓励) them to just keep trying,” the teacher says.
Anyunna says the response has encouraged her to keep going too. She wants to do more to help kids reach their fullest potential (潜力).

I think that students should do chores at home. My reasons are as follows. First, it’s our duty to share some chores because we are a member of our family. Second, we can learn some life skills by doing chores. What’s more, the most important thing is that doing chores helps to develop our independence.
As far as I’m concerned, I often help with housework at home. I don’t think it takes up my time. Instead, I find it’s a good way to relax after a whole day’s study. However, my friend Jack doesn’t do chores at home. He is not as good at study as me, because he spends his free time playing computer games.
In short, I think it’s important for students to do some chores at home. We should try to find a way to balance our study and chores instead of finding excuses not to do it.

In some places, people love to fly kites during Tomb Sweeping Day. It is also a good time to plant trees because trees are easy to grow.

Is there a connection (联系) between volunteering and health? Could volunteering offer a way to improve kids’ mental (心理的) health?
According to a new study, kids who volunteer aren’t just helping their community (社区). They might be helping themselves as well. Scientists found that volunteering in schools or communities is connected with better health among children and teens.
The study compared kids who took part in community service with those who didn’t. Kids who volunteered were 66% more likely to be thought doing well. And kids aged 12 and older who volunteered were 25% less likely to have anxiety (焦虑).
