When I was 14 years old, my dad and I traveled to the ocean in the Bahamas. In the middle of the ocean, I watched some divers take a giant step off the boat and disappear. Where did they go? I wondered. What could be down there? After some time, the divers surfaced, talking excitedly about what they had seen. I wished I could have experienced it, too. So my father asked these divers to teach me.
So the captain of the boat took us to another site. The captain told us we were diving on an old shipwreck (沉船). With much sunlight getting into the water, I could see part of the ship covered in coral (珊瑚) and sea life below. I was eager to know more about the ship. But I could not hold my breath long enough to reach it and I had to resurface.
Once back home, an Internet search led me to a diving training program where I met a great diver, Mr. Stewart. During my first diving lesson, he gave a speech as a guest speaker. My eyes lit up when he said that diving was more than a skill that improved personal development. It provided access to underwater environments, shaping our understanding of the ecosystems and human history.
When I trained for diving, I learned to master my buoyancy (浮力) control through proper use of equipment and breathing techniques. I also worked on my navigation (导航) skills. It’s easy to get lost underwater. So, it’s important for divers to be aware of their surroundings and know how to use a compass. I always found practicing hand signals difficult. Since talking in the deep ocean is not possible, we had to “speak” in a new way.
Whenever challenges appeared, my passion for diving pushed me forward. Completing the training, I made my first open-water dive, filled with excitement. Exploring the shipwreck and the appealing ecosystem up close always attracts me greatly. This is the start of an exciting journey of discovery, and I believe diving will be my lifelong habit.
4. What do we know about the author’s trip to the Bahamas?
A. It made her curious about diving. B. It made her reach an old shipwreck.
C. It led her to dive into the dark ocean. D. It led her to discover rare sea creatures.
5. How did Mr. Stewart influence the author?
A. He taught her many diving skills. B. He invited her to an open-water dive.
C. He told her about his previous diving stories. D. He inspired her to realize the importance of diving.
6. Which aspect of training is the most challenging for the author?
A. The body control. B. The navigation skills.
C. The underwater communication. D. The breathing techniques.
7. What can we learn from the text?
A. Knowledge is power. B. Interest is the best teacher.
C. Slow and steady wins the race. D. Actions speak louder than words.

January 20, 2025, a Chinese tech company named DeepSeek made a new AI called DeepSeek-R1, which has emerged as a pioneer especially in educational technology. This smart program can solve math problems, write code, and answer questions like top models such as OpenAI’s GPT-4o, but it costs much less to build. It combines advanced machine learning methods to provide personalized learning solutions for students worldwide.
Unlike traditional AI models that rely on pre-programmed answers, DeepSeek-R1 learns by trying many times and getting better, like how students practice maths. DeepSeek-R1 improves by itself by using reinforcement (强化) learning to simulate (模拟) human reasoning. This allows it to guide students through problem-solving step by step, much like a patient tutor. For example, when a student struggles with a math equation, DeepSeek-R1 doesn’t just give the answer; it breaks down the logic, identifies errors, and encourages critical thinking.
The model’s applications extend beyond academics. In language learning, it analyzes (分析) students’ pronunciation through AI speech recognition and offers real-time feedback. For teachers, DeepSeek-R1 can provide lesson plans that agree with curriculum standards and even predict students’ learning difficulties based on historical data. Its “adaptive testing” feature creates customized quizzes that adjust difficulty according to individual progress.
However, challenges remain. Critics argue that over-reliance on AI might reduce human interaction in education. DeepSeek’s developers address this by emphasizing its role as a “supplement (补充), not a replacement.” As Dr. Li, a DeepSeek researcher, stated, “Our goal is to free teachers from repetitive tasks so they can focus on inspiring creativity.”
Looking ahead, DeepSeek aims to bring virtual reality (VR) into its platform, allowing students to explore historical events or scientific concepts in immersive 3D environments. While ethical debates about AI in education still exist, one thing is clear: tools like DeepSeek are reshaping how we learn, combining technology with human wisdom.
8. What makes DeepSeek-R1 different from traditional AI models?
A. It uses pre-programmed answers.
B. It focuses on memorization techniques.
C. It creates fixed test patterns for all the students.
D. It employs reinforcement learning for reasoning.
9 What does the underlined word “adaptive” in paragraph 3 most likely mean?
A. fixed B. adjustable C. complex D. outdated
10. What’s the author’s attitude towards the use of DeepSeek-R1?
A. skeptical B. critical C. positive D. indifferent
11. What is the main purpose of writing the passage?
A. To advertise DeepSeek products.
B. To criticize the risks of DeepSeek in schools.
C. To discuss the role of DeepSeek in transforming education.
D. To compare different AI models.
【答案】8. D 9. B 10. C 11. C

Florida has some of the best beaches in the world. Thousands of people visit the state to enjoy the sun and the sand. But these beaches are also home to sea turtles. Female sea turtles come from the ocean and onto these beaches at night. They dig a hole, lay many eggs, and cover their eggs with sand. They use their fins (脚蹼) to crawl back across the beach and return to the ocean. However, the creatures have a hard time on beaches now.
Local volunteers and researchers in Florida take direct action to help the turtles. They look closely at the large area of sand to locate where the sea turtles laid their eggs. When they’ve figured out where the eggs were laid, they mark the beach off so that no one can enter the area and disturb the eggs. They also collect information about the nests and tracks to help scientists study sea turtles.
Another problem for sea turtles is the quick urbanization (城市化) near beaches. Bright lights on buildings near the beach can negatively impact sea turtles. Baby sea turtles usually hatch (出壳) on the sandy beach and head to the ocean. When there is bright light coming from the other side of the shore far from the ocean, the baby turtles get confused. They do not know which way to go. Many of them do not make it to the ocean and die. Now, residents who live close to a beach try to turn off their lights at night as early as possible.
Many people believe the best way to save these creatures is through organizations like the Marine Conservancy. The Marine Conservancy helps people take steps that will help reduce the threats that put sea turtles in danger. Sometimes, turtles mistake plastic bags for jellyfish (水母). They eat this trash and die. Florida residents (居民) can volunteer for beach clean-ups and make sure to pick up their own litter. However, sea turtles are still starving because of overfishing and climate change. In 2025, the organization aims to help the creatures find a new source of food by planting seagrass underwater.
12. How did volunteers help sea turtles?
A. By increasing the size of beaches.
B. By tracking sea turtles’ movements.
C. By taking sea turtles’ eggs to the lab.
D. By limiting human entry to certain beaches.
13. Why is light pollution harmful to sea turtles in Florida?
A. It may delay their normal growth.
B. It may harm their ability to reproduce.
C. It may disturb their hunting activities.
D. It may make them lose their sense of direction.
14. What will be the theme of the Marine Conservancy in 2025?
A. Feeding sea turtles. B. Cleaning up water pollution.
C. Fighting against overfishing. D. Providing more habitats for sea turtles.
15. What is the best title for the text?
A. Why Sea Turtles in Florida Face Survival Threats
B. How Residents Help Protect Sea Turtles in Florida
C. A Protection Organization Works to Improve Local Beaches
D. Florida Tries to Keep a Balance between Urbanization and Protection

第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Anna was always known as the quiet girl. Despite her love for painting, she never shared her works with anyone. In her final year of high school, she came across a poster announcing an art competition. The theme of the competition was “Courage”, and the prize was a scholarship to a well-known art school. It was the opportunity Anna had dreamed of, but her fear of judgment held her back.
For days, Anna struggled with self-doubt. Her best friend Mia tried to encourage her. “You have a gift, Anna. Don’t hide it,” she said. But Anna could only think of all the ways she might fail. Her paintings, filled with vivid colors and bold strokes (笔触), were a reflection of her personal emotions, and the thought of others seeing them made her feel exposed and lacking in confidence.
One evening while considering whether to enter the competition, she received a call from her older brother Tom, who was studying abroad. “Remember Dad’s old easel (画架)?” he asked. “He always said it was meant for an artist who isn’t afraid to show the world who they really are.”
The dusty and unused easel stood in the corner of her room, a silent reminder of the father she had lost two years earlier. His dream had been to see Anna become a famous artist, but since his passing, she had been too afraid to pursue that dream.
Inspired by her father’s words and Tom’s encouragement, Anna decided to take the chance. She spent the next week working tirelessly on her painting. It vividly depicted (描绘) a sunflower standing tall in a storm — symbolizing resilience (复原力) and hope, just as her father had always taught her.
When she finally submitted the piece, she felt a mix of fear and relief. She had done it, regardless of the outcome. She had taken the first. step towards her dream.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式作答。
A week later, Anna received an unexpected email.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
A week later, Anna received an unexpected email. Her heart raced as she read the email. It was from the art competition committee, along with an invitation to the competition’s final exhibition. Her work had made it to the final round! Anna felt a surge of emotions — pride, disbelief, and a hint of fear. Tears of joy streamed down her face. This recognition was not only proof of her talent, but also a testament to her courage in sharing herself with the world. For the first time, she felt proud, not fearful, of letting her art shine.
On the day of the exhibition, Anna walked into the gallery nervously. She thought to herself, “What if people don’t understand my painting? Will they laugh at me?” However, as she approached her painting, Anna noticed a small crowd had gathered around it. Their faces reflected appreciation and awe. Anna’s self-doubt began to fade. She realized that her father’s dream was not just about fame, but about finding her voice and expressing her true self. Regardless of whether she could win the scholarship or not, she realized she had already won.

9. What does the underlined word “adaptive” in paragraph 3 most likely mean?
A. fixed B. adjustable C. complex D. outdated

One evening, while considering whether to enter the competition, she received a call from her older brother Tom, who was studying abroad. “Remember Dad’s old easel (画架)?” he asked. “He always said it was meant for an artist who isn’t afraid to show the world who they really are.”
The dusty and unused easel stood in the corner of her room a silent reminder of the father she had lost two years earlier.
