Do you remember the modern art piece that everyone has been talking about? Yes, it’s the banana taped to the wall at the Art Basel Gallery.Well, David, an artist from New York walked into the gallery yesterday, took the banana from the wall, and ate it. He said his performance was called “Hungry Artist”. The artwork was originally sold for 120 thousand dollars. The strangest thing about this story is that no legal action will be taken against David. Another banana will simply be taped to the wall. The art gallery director said that the price of the artwork was for the idea, and the banana was meant to be replaced. It makes sense, because pretty soon that banana is going to go bad, right, folks? Stay tuned for traffic, weather and politics coming at you in that order right after this commercial break. A (23-24高二下·浙江·期中)Ireland: The Emerald Isle Travelling in the Republic of Ireland is like stepping into a vivid painting where lush green landscapes meet charming villages. Dublin Start exploring in Dublin, Ireland’s capital, which blends the old and new. The city is steeped in history, and you can enjoy its past at landmarks like Trinity College, founded in 1592. It’s home to the Book of Kells, a medieval (中世纪的) masterpiece. After that, take a walk around Dublin Castle, a symbol of Ireland’s historical power. Then head to The Temple Bar, with its cobblestone streets and lively pubs, to experience Dublin’s contemporary culture. Ring of Kerry The Ring of Kerry, 1,179-kilometer circular route, showcases Ireland’s beauty. You’ll encounter green meadows, peaceful lakes and dramatic coastal cliffs. Each turn in the road reveals breathtaking views that will leave you in awe. Cliffs of Moher You can’t say you’ve been to Ireland if you haven’t checked out the Cliffs of Moher. These towering cliffs on the west coast rise from the Atlantic Ocean, reaching heights of over 200 meters. The sheer size of the cliffs and the roaring waves below create a fascinating and humbling experience. Inishmore   Take a ferry to Inishmore, one of the rugged Aran Islands. Upon your arrival, you will immediately notice the hard life of the local people. At first there was no soil on the island, so over the centuries, they made their own — from seaweed and sand. Now about 2,400 kilometers of rock walls spread around the land. Take a tour or ride a bike around the island. Then enjoy an Irish coffee before heading back to the mainland. 21.What can you probably see in the Ring of Kerry? A.Some historical landmarks and old castles of Ireland. B.A circular route with views of lakes, meadows and cliffs. C.The special soil made from seaweed and sand by local people. D.The towering cliffs on the west coast from the Atlantic Ocean. 22.What is the best way of traveling around on the island of Inishmore? A.By plane. B.By ferry. C.By subway. D.By bike. 23.What is the text? A.A travel journal. B.A research paper. C.A travel brochure. You’ll encounter green meadows, peaceful lakes and dramatic coastal cliffs. Each turn in the road reveals breathtaking views that will leave you in awe.(1179公里长的Kerry环线展示了爱尔兰的美丽。 根据文章Inishmore部分中的“Take a ferry to Inishmore, one of the rugged Aran Islands.(乘坐渡轮前往崎岖的阿兰群岛之一的Inishmore。)”以及“Take a tour or ride a bike around the island.(在岛上游览或骑自行车。)” 根据第一段“Travelling in the Republic of Ireland is like stepping into a vivid painting where lush green landscapes meet charming villages.(在爱尔兰共和国旅行就像走进一幅生动的画作,郁郁葱葱的绿色风景与迷人的村庄相遇。)” B (23-24高二下·江苏镇江·期中)On these dark winter evenings, I find myself daydreaming of summer. I think of the one activity and place that quiets my mind: clamming (挖蛤) on Cape Cod. Before I had kids, it was a much-needed active outing after days of vacation-level eating. But when I went with kids, the experience took a turn from relaxation to devotion. The bay became part of the world I was trying to build for my children. The act of clamming became an unexpected escape,a moment when I wasn't thinking about 20 different things, when I wasn’t really thinking at all. This year, for the first time, my children joined in the clamming. I kept yelping (尖叫) when my children almost raked (用耙子耙) my feet. But there was joy in having something to teach them, to connect them not only to a generational tradition but also to the history of the land. And when they raised their basket and it wasn’t a rock for the hundredth time, but rather a shining clam, it was a richer moment than if they had struck gold. Seeing a child holding up a clam with an expression of success on his face does more for the heart than any meditation (冥想) ever could. I hope that one day my children will view clamming as the relaxation that I do. They are not there yet.At this point, it is more adventure than getaway. At the end of our clamming morning, my 6-year-old refused to leave, insisting she needed one more clam. When she finally caught one more clam, she laughed, pride written all over her face. To be fair, perhaps what she needed to get from clamming was not what I needed. Perhaps what she needed was to have a tiny bit of control over this wild world, one in which she has little say. In that moment, she was victorious, if not in calm, then in clam. 24.Why did the author go clamming before having children? A.To get together with her friends. B.To spend quality time with her family. C.To escape the responsibility as an adult. D.To enjoy relaxation after overeating. 25.What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about? A.The experience of clamming. B.The benefits of meditation. C.The change of a generational tradition. D.The necessity of exploring the land. 26.How do the kids find clamming? A.Demanding and boring. B.Complicated and tiring. C.Adventurous and rewarding. D.Painful and disappointing. 27.What can we infer from the last paragraph about the author and her kids? A.They are successful in removing stress. B.Clamming is the most interesting to them. C.They refused to leave the bay. D.Clamming has different meanings to them. 根据文章第一段“I think of the one activity and place that quiets my mind: clamming (挖蛤) on Cape Cod.( 我想到了一个能让我安静下来的活动和地方:在科德角挖蛤。)”和文章第二段“Before I had kids, it was a much-needed active outing after days of vacation-level eating. 根据文章第三段“This year, for the first time, my children joined in the clamming. Seeing a child holding up a clam with an expression of success on his face does more for the heart than any meditation (冥想) ever could.(今年,我的孩子们第一次加入了挖蛤的行列。 故选A。 26. 根据文章第三段“This year, for the first time, my children joined in the clamming. I kept yelping (尖叫) when my children almost raked (用耙子耙) my feet. But there was joy in having something to teach them, to connect them not only to a generational tradition but also to the history of the land.(今年,我的孩子们第一次加入了挖蛤的行列。 和最后一段“I hope that one day my children will view clamming as the relaxation that I do. They are not there yet. At this point, it is more adventure than getaway.(我希望有一天我的孩子们能像我一样把挖蛤视为一种放松。 以及“When she finally caught one more clam, she laughed, pride written all over her face.(她终于又抓到一只蛤蜊时,她笑了,脸上写满了自豪。)” 根据文章最后一段“I hope that one day my children will view clamming as the relaxation that I do. They are not there yet. At this point, it is more adventure than getaway.( 我希望有一天我的孩子们能像我一样把挖蛤视为一种放松。 和“To be fair, perhaps what she needed to get from clamming was not what I needed. Perhaps what she needed was to have a tiny bit of control over this wild world, one in which she has little say.(公平地说,也许她需要从捕蛤中得到的并不是我需要的。 C (23-24高二下·河南南阳·期中)Australian bioacoustics (生物声学) expert Brian Miller’s work focuses on identifying and understanding the behaviours of Antarctic marine mammals by listening to underwater audio recordings. However, sorting through it is a massive task. “We’ve now amassed a collection of more than 100,000 hours of recordings from the Antarctic, but we’ve always been constrained by our ability to process these data efficiently,” he says. Listening to all these recordings would take decades. As well as being boring to do, that’s simply too slow for the conservation action needed to save threatened species. But with new technologies doing the “thinking” for us, that could be about to change. A time-saving solution has been for Brian’s team to apply AI algorithms to the task. Using computers to process data isn’t new to conservation research, but in the past, they’ve been limited in what they can accomplish. They start to struggle when the data gets more complicated. In comparison, AI programs can learn and improve their ability to interpret data. They can process data that would take a research team months to finish, in a matter of hours. In some cases, they are more accurate than their human counterparts, and the algorithms only improve with time as they gather more and more training data. Of course, the human element can never be entirely removed from research. “It’s people who can work closely with people who have AI experience, and have the ability to make the algorithm smarter…I think that’s a pretty good recipe for success,” Brian says. Perhaps the best thing about the use of AI in conservation is that it lets researchers focus on what’s important. “This frees us up to think about the bigger picture problems. It frees us up to think about designing better studies to focus on the analysis, to focus on the gaps… it really is a revolution,” Brian says. “My prediction would be that this is going to become much more widespread across science in general.” 28.Why does the author mention Brian Miller in the first paragraph? A.To explain the importance of protecting endangered species. B.To introduce the new technologies applied in his research team. C.To emphasize the inefficiency of the current data processing ability. D.To show the difficulty in identifying the behaviors of marine mammals. 29.What was the disadvantage of computers used in the previous research? A.They were totally inaccurate. B.They failed to interact with people. C.They were unable to interpret data. D.They failed to process complex data efficiently. 30.What does the underlined word “recipe” in Paragraph 4 refer to? A.Guide. B.Chance. C.Moment. D.Strategy. 31.What can we learn from the last paragraph? A.AI programs are to gain more popularity in science. B.Researchers focus on unimportant problems currently. C.Better studies need to be designed to ensure efficiency. D.Human elements will be entirely removed from research. 根据第一段“We’ve now amassed a collection of more than 100,000 hours of recordings from the Antarctic, but we’ve always been constrained by our ability to process these data efficiently,” he says. Listening to all these recordings would take decades. As well as being boring to do, that’s simply too slow for the conservation action needed to save threatened species.”(“我们现在已经从南极收集了超过10万小时的录音,但我们一直受到有效处理这些数据的能力的限制,”他说。 根据第三段“Using computers to process data isn’t new to conservation research, but in the past, they’ve been limited in what they can accomplish. They start to struggle when the data gets more complicated.”(使用计算机处理数据对保护研究来说并不新鲜,但在过去,它们所能完成的工作一直受到限制。 根据第四段“It’s people who can work closely with people who have AI experience, and have the ability to make the algorithm smarter”(能与人密切合作的人有人工智能经验,有能力让算法更智能)可知,能与人密切合作的人有人工智能经验,有能力让算法更智能,这是成功的好策略。 根据文章最后一段“My prediction would be that this is going to become much more widespread across science in general.”(我预测这将在科学领域中变得更加普遍。) 故选A。 D (23-24高二下·浙江·期中)Being bored is no fun, especially at work. But new research out of the Research School of Management at Australian National University argues that while boredom is certainly boring, it isn’t all bad. The disliked mental state can actually spark precious creativity. The study asked 52 subjects to do a pretty boring job: sort apart a bowl of red and green beans with just one hand for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, 49 other subjects — the control group — were instructed to create art projects with paper, beans and glue. Once the 30 minutes was over, each group was instructed to spend five minutes on a creative task: they had to come up with reasons why a hypothetical (假定的) person was two hours late for a meeting. The bored group came up with not just more ideas than the control group, but more creative ideas than the control group, too. The quality and quantity of production was higher for people who were bored than those who were not. Creativity itself was measured under a standard that balanced novelty and practicality. Ideas had to fit both criteria to be considered creative. Guiyun Park, the study’s lead author, readily admits that not every type of job permits the fun of boredom, and it can really be harmful to some important work. But for designers and anyone in a creative field, boredom is not something to fear, but to embrace. Sometimes, the best way to be productive is to expect nothing of yourself at all. 32.What is paragraph 2 mainly about? A.The process of the research. B.The benefits of the research. C.The reasons for the research. D.The disadvantage of the research. 33.Which of the following may Guiyun Park disagree with? A.Boredom can do harm to some work. B.All types of jobs can embrace boredom. C.Boredom is not always something to fear. D.Boredom can be favourable to art designers. 34.What is the author’s attitude to boredom? A.Concerned. B.Negative. C.Positive. D.Indifferent. 35.Which of the following can be the best title for this passage? A.The Role of Boredom in Increasing Productivity B.The Negative Impact of Boredom on the Workplace C.Why Boredom Should Be Avoided in Creative Fields D.Unlocking Creativity: The Unexpected Benefit of Boredom 【答案】32.A 33.B 34.C 35.D 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。 根据第二段中的“The study asked 52 subjects to do a pretty boring job: sort apart a bowl of red and green beans with just one hand for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, 49 other subjects — the control group — were instructed to create art projects with paper, beans and glue.(项研究要求52名受试者做一项相当无聊的工作:用一只手把一碗红豆和绿豆分开,持续30分钟。 可知,此处介绍了研究的对象以及每组对象所做的工作,结合下文中的“Once the 30 minutes was over, each group was instructed to spend five minutes on a creative task: they had to come up with reasons why a hypothetical (假定的) person was two hours late for a meeting.(30分钟结束后,每组被要求花5分钟完成一项创造性任务:他们必须想出一个假定的人开会迟到两个小时的原因。)” 故选A项。 33. 根据尾段中的“Guiyun Park, the study’s lead author, readily admits that not every type of job permits the fun of boredom, and it can really be harmful to some important work. But for designers and anyone in a creative field, boredom is not something to fear, but to embrace.(该研究的主要作者Guiyun Park欣然承认,并不是每种工作都能让人从无聊中获得乐趣,而且无聊确实会对一些重要的工作造成伤害。)” A“Boredom can do harm to some work.(无聊对某些工作是有害的。)”和选项C“Boredom is not always something to fear.(无聊并不总是让人害怕的。)”与原文内容表述一致,根据下文中的“But for designers and anyone in a creative field, boredom is not something to fear, but to embrace.(但对于设计师和创意领域的任何人来说,无聊不是可怕的,而是值得拥抱的。)” D“Boredom can be favourable to art designers.(无聊对美术设计师是有利的。)” B“All types of jobs can embrace boredom.(所有类型的工作都可能感到无聊。)” 根据尾段中的“But for designers and anyone in a creative field, boredom is not something to fear, but to embrace. Sometimes, the best way to be productive is to expect nothing of yourself at all.(但对于设计师和创意领域的任何人来说,无聊不是可怕的,而是值得拥抱的。 根据首段“But new research out of the Research School of Management at Australian National University argues that while boredom is certainly boring, it isn’t all bad. The disliked mental state can actually spark precious creativity.(但澳大利亚国立大学管理研究学院的一项新研究认为,虽然无聊确实很无聊,但也不全是坏事。 (24-25高二上·河南郑州·期中)How to Be Best Friends The relationship between best friends is one of the most important ones we experience in our lives. Mom came over in a hurry with an anxious look. Turning to Amy, her eyes filled with compassion, Mom said, “It’s okay, Amy. Accidents happen. We all love you and Leo equally. Remember, family is about sharing and understanding, not fighting over things.” Amy’s heart softened as she realized her mother’s words were true. She felt a wave of relief wash over her, knowing that she hadn’t lost her parents’ love. With a better understanding of family and love, Amy’s attitude towards Leo changed. She began to see him not as a threat to her position but as a precious addition to their family. As they worked on sewing the doll back together, Amy taught Leo how to thread the needle and make small stitches. The process brought them closer, and Amy found joy in seeing Leo’s excitement at every successful stitch. They even decorated the doll with colorful patches, making it unique and special again. From then on, Amy made an effort to include Leo in her activities and playtime. She realized that love wasn’t something that had to be divided; it multiplied when shared. 词汇激活 行为类 ①记住:remember/keep in mind ②充满:be filled with /be full of ③意识到:realize/be aware of 情绪类 ①快乐:joy/happiness ②爱:love/affection 【点睛】[高分句型1] As they worked on sewing the doll back together, Amy taught Leo how to thread the needle and make small stitches. D.An autobiography. B (23-24高二下·江苏镇江·期中)On these dark winter evenings, I find myself daydreaming of summer. C (23-24高二下·河南南阳·期中)Australian bioacoustics (生物声学) expert Brian Miller’s work focuses on identifying and understanding the behaviours of Antarctic marine mammals by listening to underwater audio recordings. D (23-24高二下·浙江·期中)Being bored is no fun, especially at work. A.The Role of Boredom in Increasing Productivity B.The Negative Impact of Boredom on the Workplace C.Why Boredom Should Be Avoided in Creative Fields D.Unlocking Creativity: The Unexpected Benefit of Boredom (24-25高二上·河南郑州·期中)How to Be Best Friends The relationship between best friends is one of the most important ones we experience in our lives. If the doll could talk, it would tell a story of two kids and the relationship among family members. Amy has been living in the arms of her parents for five years since she was born, and she has been enjoying the unique attention. However, things began to change when the family had a new member, her little brother, Leo. On hearing the news that she would have a little brother or sister, Amy felt at a loss. She didn’t know what it meant to her. However, with the birth of Leo, Amy began to know that she wouldn’t be the only kid. Seeing parents pay more attention to the little baby and hearing more and more people say her parents wouldn’t love her anymore, Amy became sensitive. Worried about her position in the hearts of her parents, she began to have incomprehensible resistance to little Leo. As time went by, Amy became more and more sensitive and concerned about her uniqueness and belongings. The other day, Amy came back home happily with the praise from her teacher. Seeing Leo holding her favorite do II made Amy feel very upset. In her eyes, the doll was not just a toy, but a part of her childhood, and a symbol of being loved. “Give it back to me, Leo” Amy shouted. “No, I want to play” “It’s mine, not yours.” Amy stepped forward to Leo. “But I want.” Leo insisted. Leo’s refusal led to Amy grabbing the toy without hesitation. In the process of the struggle, the doll accidentally was split into two parts, broken. Leo fell onto the ground, crying loudly. Amy’s face turned pale, feeling like sitting on pins and needles. She was in fear that Leo got hurt and She was also afraid her mother would blame her, and think her an inconsiderate girl. However, things didn’t go as expected.
