Su Bingtian
The Chinese Speedster Crafting a Legend
Su Bingtian, one of the most prominent figures in the history of Chinese athletics, has captured the attention of the global track - and - field community with his amazing speed and unwavering determination. In 2025, at the age of 35, this well - known sprinter is still actively competing on the field, demonstrating the power of "Chinese speed" with each and every dash.
Su Bingtian's journey in running began when he was just 14 years old. During his second year of junior high school, he joined his school's track - and - field team. His outstanding performance in the Zhongshan City Middle School Students' Competition caught the eye of the city's sports school, where he received professional training. This early experience not only laid a solid groundwork for his future in sports but also sparked his deep - seated passion for sprinting. In 2007, at 18, he joined the Guangdong Provincial Track - and - Field Team, marking the start of his professional athlete career.
For Su Bingtian, running is not merely a competitive sport; it is a means of communicating with himself. He once said, "Every time I start a race, it's a challenge to push my limits, and the track has taught me the value of perseverance." Even when faced with injuries and difficult times, he always approaches the situation with a "reset" mindset. After suffering a serious back injury in 2019, he returned to the competition through scientific training and determination, proving that "giving up" is not in an athlete's vocabulary.
Currently, as an associate professor at Jinan University, Su Bingtian applies his on - field experience into his teaching, dedicated to nurturing the next generation of track - and - field talent. His story serves as an inspiration to countless people, showing that regardless of where one starts, with belief and courage, they can overcome limitations and create their own lengends. As he put it after the Tokyo Olympics, "My goal is always the next race." This spirit of never stopping is his most precious gift to the world.

I’ve been a sports nut since I was old enough to hold a ball. That’s why when my PE teacher presented me with the idea of joining the swimming team I decided to give it a shot and challenge myself a bit more. So I started going to swimming practice last June.
At first I only regarded swimming as a hobby to enhance my physical fitness. But soon I found I fell in love with it. Then, last week, I had my first swimming competition, in the 100m breaststroke. Standing tall at the head of the lane made me feel both nervous and excited. After the sound of the whistle, I dived in and began to swim with all my strength! Finally, I came in third place.
I was so happy for my achievement, and it proved that hard work pays off. I will keep on swimming, perhaps for the rest of my life. Not only because it makes me healthier and stronger, but also for the confidence and sense of achievement it has brought.

Dear Peter.
I am exceedingly delighted to hear from you. You asked me in your last letter about the physical exercise in our school and the following information may give you a rough sketch.
To begin with, a fabulous new stadium has been built up, which has become the new landmark in our school.
Moreover, with the setting up of the stadium, a wide range of sports events are able to be held, of which ping-pong, football as well as running competitions enjoy great popularity. As for me, I’m keen on basketball since it has been giving me strength to confront the challenges in my life.
All in all, I sincerely invite you to come to our school and see for yourself.
THANKS FOR COOPERATION
