How to Keep Safe
As teenagers, we should always keep safe in mind. But how can we keep safe? Here are some of my suggestions.
First, we should be careful when we make friends, especially online. Second, if we are in danger, we must call the police for help in time so that we can keep ourselves safe. Also, we ought to eat healthily and safely. Eating food that goes bad will do harm to our health. Last but not least, summer is coming, and we must remember it’s dangerous to swim in the river. In short, safety must come first!

But now, the way we read news is very different because of 43 . These days, it’s more common to read news on digital (数码的,电子的) devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops. The change from paper to screens has happened for many reasons.
First, the internet lets us get news 44 . Instead of waiting for the morning paper, digital news is always there and keeps getting updated all the time. This means we can know about new events as they happen.

Surviving the Fire
It was a cold, dry February afternoon in 2017. I was in my house with my children. Suddenly, a fire broke out in my autistic (患自闭症的) son’s room. In a few minutes, the fire spread across the living room and then the whole house.
My children and I all escaped the fire without physical injury. However, we lost all of our possessions, except for the clothes we were wearing. We didn't even have shoes on. I watched the fire go up through the roof. We lost our home. We had nowhere to live.
Fortunately, we had insurance (保险). But until we could receive some money, we had to live with friends and family and make do with what other people gave us.
The main impact (影响) was on the children. My autistic son really had problems dealing with any changes. He couldn’t even accept the fact of having to wear a new pair of shoes. Yet we had to tell him that he would be living in a whole new house and that all of his clothes and toys were gone. My youngest daughter had asthma (哮喘). Thankfully, the headteacher of her school came and brought her the medicine she kept at school.
Thinking about what could have happened, I couldn’t help but feel frightened. I was just thankful that my kids were all alive. Everyone was so nice. People went out of their way to help, not just on the day the fire broke out, but also in the weeks afterwards. Their kindness is the thing that has really stuck in my mind.

56.The author’s children were badly hurt in the fire, weren’t they?
57.What did the author’s family lose in the fire?
58.Why couldn’t the author’s son accept the fact of having to wear a new pair of shoes?
59.What is the main thing that stuck in the author’s mind after the fire?

D. Answer the questions (根据短文内容回答问题) (12分)
55.According to the article, when did the fire break out?
56.The author’s children were badly hurt in the fire, weren’t they?
57.What did the author’s family lose in the fire?

【答案】例文
How to Keep Safe
As teenagers, we should always keep safe in mind. But how can we keep safe? Here are some of my suggestions.
First, we should be careful when we make friends, especially online. Second, if we are in danger, we must call the police for help in time so that we can keep ourselves safe. Also, we ought to eat healthily and safely. Eating food that goes bad will do harm to our health. Last but not least, summer is coming, and we must remember it’s dangerous to swim in the river. In short, safety must come first!
