Today we are going to talk about the spread of culture. We all know that throughout history, ideas spread from one culture to another when different groups of people get in touch with each other. However, people don't always adopt new ideas like new inventions, food and ways of life. Well, why is this the case? One possible reason is the availability of raw materials. For example, a foreigner introduced a tasty soup, but to make the soup, people would have to use the dry leaves of a special plant that is not available in this country. So no raw material. What happens next? They would not make the soup a part of their regular diet, even if they enjoyed the taste. Another reason is that if people already have something similar in their own culture, they might reject the new item. They may feel they don't need two things serving the same purpose. For example, if a traveller introduces a unique musical instruments to our country, but the locals already have their own instrument that produces similar sounds, it's likely that the new instrument will not be widely accepted. I rush my morning routine and run to my car. My radio switches to my favorite song, but I have to listen to an audible (可听的) book for an assignment due tomorrow. When I get to school, I start with Spanish, my hardest class. Despite being around all year, I have no clue what’s going on. I then walk to my English class, in which I was stuck in the language rules. The assignments take much energy that my perfectionist nature is unable to take on in school, so I save them for later, most probably late at night. This is my reality as a student with dyslexia, a learning disorder in reading and spelling: assignments that take three times as long as they’re meant to, late nights and early mornings to even slightly keep up with my classes. I was told that Advanced Placement U. S. History would be my hardest class. But here, I am in my element. Despite being three assignments behind, I’m actively engaged. Yes, my passion for history heightens my focus, but my teacher’s willingness to work with me is what allows me to fly high. Teachers need to offer alternative structures that make learning more accessible. I’ve had teachers who teach lecture-based classes where students are expected to take notes and listen. As a student with dyslexia, this doesn’t work. A fix for that is as simple as providing alternative resources: a slide show students can go back to after class, or perhaps even an activity that further plays with the concepts. Now, many schools are shifting to approaches that meet the needs of all kids. However, advocacy work can still be done to support students with dyslexia. If school systems are willing to provide support and education by creating an accessible class structure from the start, students won’t be stuck into academic tracks that don’t push them to their full potential. 24.Why does the author have to do his homework late at night? A.He is assigned extra homework. B.He fails to manage his spare time. C.He needs time to do it well enough. D.He dislikes tasks related to languages. 25.What does the underlined part “in my element” in paragraph 4 mean? A.Burning the midnight oil. B.Biting off more than I can chew. C.Feeling like a fish in water. D.Having butterflies in my stomach. 26.What does the author think of lecture-based classes? A.Satisfying. B.Inspiring. C.Rewarding. D.Demanding. 27.What does the author advise schools to do for students? A.Offer classes with alternatives. B.Ask educational experts to give lectures. C.Advocate out-of-class activities. D.Get teachers trained in special education. 根据文章第二段“The assignments take much energy that my perfectionist nature is unable to take on in school, so I save them for later, most probably late at night.(作业耗费了我太多精力,而我追求完美的性格又让我无法在学校完成它们,所以我总是把它们留到以后,很可能就是深夜。)” 根据划线词句上文“I was told that Advanced Placement U. S. History would be my hardest class.(我曾被告知,美国历史高级课程将是我最难的一门课。)” 而划线单词下文“Despite being three assignments behind, I’m actively engaged.(尽管我已经落后了三项作业,但我仍然积极参与其中。)” 根据文章第五段“I’ve had teachers who teach lecture-based classes where students are expected to take notes and listen. As a student with dyslexia, this doesn’t work.(我曾遇到过一些以讲座为基础的老师,他们期望学生记笔记并听讲。但作为一名阅读障碍学生,这种方式行不通。)”可知,作者作为阅读障碍的学生,觉得基于讲座的课程对他来说并不适用,因为它可能要求很高的听力和笔记能力,这是作者难以应对的。因此,可以推断出作者认为基于讲座的课程是要求高的。故选D。 27.推理判断题。根据文章第五段“Teachers need to offer alternative structures that make learning more accessible.(教师需要提供替代性的学习结构,使学习更加容易。)”以及最后一段“Now, many schools are shifting to approaches that meet the needs of all kids. However, advocacy work can still be done to support students with dyslexia. If school systems are willing to provide support and education by creating an accessible class structure from the start, students won’t be stuck into academic tracks that don’t push them to their full potential.(现在,许多学校正在转向满足所有孩子需求的教学方法。然而,仍然可以开展宣传工作来支持阅读障碍学生。如果学校系统愿意从一开始就创造一个容易接受的学习环境并提供教育支持,那么学生就不会被困在那些无法充分发挥他们潜力的学术轨道上。)”可知,作者认为学校应该提供满足所有孩子需求的方法,可以提供替代性课程,从而满足学生的需求。故选A。 C Self-confidence is trusting in our abilities or qualities. It’s usually seen as a good thing. But is it possible that we might benefit from a little less confidence in our beliefs? For many years, Dr. Mark Leary, a neuroscientist at Duke University in Durham, N.C. , has studied the role of people’s beliefs in their behavior. He found overconfidence is very common, especially when it comes to what people believe to be true, and can lead us to disastrous decisions. In 1986, NASA believed that the risk of loss for any space flight was roughly 1 in 100,000. It was an overconfident belief and might have led to the explosion of the Challenger. The good news is that there’s a “vaccine (疫苗)” for overconfidence, and that’s what scientists call “intellectual humility”— recognizing that your beliefs could be wrong. A survey of 144 college students to measure their intellectual humility found that students who saw their thinking could be wrong tended to be more curious and more likely to seek out new knowledge. They ended up knowing more at the end of the day. But does it actually help you beyond that? To find out more, Dr. Tenelle Porter at Ball State University conducted a series of studies with high school students. She found that students with intellectual humility were much more likely to test themselves to see whether they really understood the material and seek out potential holes in their understanding. When they got test scores, they’d change their study strategics to improve their performance and master the material for the next test. Students who didn’t see their knowledge could be wrong might instead just sail through their studying and wouldn’t stop to ask themselves if they truly understood what they read, heard, or did. Such students thought they got a subject down pat, but when asked to explain it on a test, they found they didn’t actually understand as much as they had thought. Although it might be good for you, researchers recognize that questioning your beliefs can be truly hard. Still, it’s important to remember that questioning beliefs isn’t always about replacing old ones with new ones. If you find it hard to question a belief, try taking “baby steps.” 28.Why does the author mention the explosion of the Challenger? A.To express his sorrow for the loss. B.To stress the high risk of space flights. C.To show the result of wrong operation. D.To give an example of overconfidence. 29.What do we know about intellectual humility according to Porter’s research? A.It urged students to gain recognition. B.It encouraged students to take exams. C.It helped students to adjust learning methods. D.It motivated students to memorize knowledge. 30.What do the underlined words “got a subject down pat” mean in paragraph 5? A.Fully mastered a subject. B.Put great effort into a subject C.Really enjoyed a subject. D.Benefited a lot from a subject. 31.What will probably be discussed in the following paragraphs? A.Why questioning our belief is hard. B.Why intellectual humility is helpful. C.How to become a confident person. D.How to practice intellectual humility. 根据第二段第二至第四句“He found overconfidence is very common, especially when it comes to what people believe to be true, and can lead us to disastrous decisions. In 1986, NASA believed that the risk of loss for any space flight was roughly 1 in 100,000. It was an overconfident belief and might have led to the explosion of the Challenger. 根据第四段第二、三句“She found that students with intellectual humility were much more likely to test themselves to see whether they really understood the material and seek out potential holes in their understanding. When they got test scores, they’d change their study strategics to improve their performance and master the material for the next test. (她发现,智力谦逊的学生更有可能去检验自己是否真正理解了学习材料,并寻找自己理解上的漏洞。当他们看到考试成绩时,他们会调整学习策略,以提高学习表现,并掌握好材料为下一次考试做准备)”可知,智力谦逊这种特质会使学生及时反思自己的学习,相应调整学习方法。故选C项。 30.词句猜测题。根据第五段第二句“Such students thought they got a subject down pat, but when asked to explain it on a test, they found they didn’t actually understand as much as they had thought. (这些学生以为自己对某个科目got down pat,但在考试中被要求解释时,他们发现自己的理解并没有自己想象的那么多)”可知,学生们在考试之前应是对自己比较自信,认为自己对该相关知识十分了解,或已经全会了,但到考场答题时,才发现自己会的不如原本所认为的那么多。由此可知,got a subject down pat应是“对某科目了解很多”或“对某科目完全掌握”之意。故选A项。 31. 根据第二段最后一句“The good news is that there’s a “vaccine (疫苗)” for overconfidence, and that’s what scientists call “intellectual humility”— recognizing that your beliefs could be wrong. (好消息是,过度自信有一种“疫苗”,科学家称之为“智力谦逊”——即认识到你的信念可能是错误的)”及全文最后一句“If you find it hard to question a belief, try taking “baby steps.” (如果你觉得很难质疑一种信念,可以尝试迈出“一小步”)”可知,最后一句中所说的“question a belief”即前文所说的“recognizing that your beliefs could be wrong”,也就是第二段最后一句引号中所言的“智力谦逊”。全文最后一句又说,“可以尝试迈出‘一小步’”。由此推知,所谓的“一小步”究竟该怎么做,会在下文进行介绍,即如何练习做到“智力谦虚”。故选D项。 D Most taxi drivers need a smartphone to get to their destinations. But sharks, it seems, need nothing more than their own bodies — and Earth’s magnetic (磁的) field. A new study suggests some sharks can read Earth’s field like a map and use it to travel long distances with accuracy. Since the 1970s, researchers have suspected that some fish can detect magnetic fields. But no one had shown that sharks use the fields to find their location or navigate (导航), partly because the animals aren’t so easy to work with. It’s one thing if you have a small fish, or a baby sea turtle, but when you work with sharks, you have to upscale everything. Bryan Keller, an ecologist at Florida State University, and his colleagues decided to do just that. They lined a bedroom-size cage with wire and placed a small swimming pool in the center of the cage. By running an electrical current through the wiring, they could generate a custom magnetic field in the center of the pool. The team then collected 20 young bonnethead sharks — a species known to migrate hundreds of kilometers — off the Florida coast. They placed the sharks into the pool, one at a time, and let them swim freely under three different magnetic fields, applied in random succession. One field mimicked (模仿) Earth’s natural field at the spot where the sharks were collected, while the others mimicked the fields at locations 600 kilometers north and 600 kilometers south of their homes. They used software to track the sharks’ responses, observing which direction in the tank they were trying to swim towards. When the young sharks were exposed to the magnetic field of the place they were captured, or ‘home’, they stayed put. But when subjected to the southern magnetic field, the sharks persistently changed their headings to swim north, as if trying to get back home. This suggests that the sharks were using the magnetic field to guide them, similar to how humans use GPS. Surprisingly, the researchers found that the sharks didn’t favor any direction when swimming under the northern field. Keller says this might be because they don’t go north of their home location since there is only land there, and so they rarely have to find their way back south again. “This could support the theory that their ability to go back home is a learned behavior,” he says. They might not know what to do in the northern field because “they’ve never been up there.” says Keller. Keller’s research adds a significant piece to the still-incomplete puzzle of shark biology. Sharks have been declining at an alarming rate due to mostly overfishing and habitat change. Studying the life cycles and migration patterns of sharks can help us understand what arcas to protect when managing marine spaces. 32.Why is it difficult for researchers to prove that sharks can read Earth’s field? A.Sharks are too hard to follow and observe. B.Sharks are not sensitive to magnetic fields. C.Sharks are difficult to study in a laboratory setting. D.Sharks are on the list of endangered species. 33.According to Keller, what might be the reason why sharks don’t favor any direction when swimming under the northern magnetic field? A.They don’t like the climate in the north. B.They’ve never been to the north of their home before. C.They learned to do so when they were young. D.The northern magnetic field was not strong enough. 34.From the passage, we can infer that Keller’s research is significant because it ________. A.provides a new method for capturing sharks. B.supports the idea that sharks’ migration patterns are random. C.adds crucial information to our understanding of shark biology. D.suggests that sharks should be protected from overfishing. 35.What is the main idea of the passage? A.Sharks use Earth’s magnetic field to find their way on seas. B.Researchers discovered a new way to study sharks in labs. C.Shark populations are declining due to habitat change. D.Sharks have a learned behavior of returning to their home. 根据文章第二段“But no one had shown that sharks use the fields to find their location or navigate (导航), partly because the animals aren’t so easy to work with. It’s one thing if you have a small fish, or a baby sea turtle, but when you work with sharks, you have to upscale everything.(但没有人能证明鲨鱼利用磁场来找到它们的位置或导航,部分原因是这些动物不太容易研究。如果只是小鱼或小海龟还好,但和鲨鱼一起工作时,你必须放大一切)”可知,研究人员很难证明鲨鱼可以读取地球磁场是因为鲨鱼太大,很难在实验室环境中研究。故选C。 33.细节理解题。根据文章倒数第二段“Surprisingly, the researchers found that the sharks didn’t favor any direction when swimming under the northern field. Keller says this might be because they don’t go north of their home location since there is only land there, and so they rarely have to find their way back south again. “This could support the theory that their ability to go back home is a learned behavior,” he says. They might not know what to do in the northern field because “they’ve never been up there.” says Keller.(令人惊讶的是,研究人员发现,当鲨鱼在北部海域下游泳时,它们不喜欢任何方向。Keller说,这可能是因为它们不会去它们家园的北部,因为那里只有陆地,所以它们很少需要再找到返回南方的路。他说:‘可以支持这样一种理论,即它们回家的能力是一种习得的行为。’他们可能不知道在北方田野做什么,因为‘他们从来没有去过那里。’凯勒说。)”可知,根据凯勒的说法,鲨鱼在北磁场下游泳时没有任何方向偏好可能是因为它们从未去过家以北的地方。故选B。 34.细节理解题。根据文章最后一段“Keller’s research adds a significant piece to the still-incomplete puzzle of shark biology.(凯勒的研究为尚不完整的鲨鱼生物学之谜增添了重要的一环)”可推知,凯勒的研究重要是因为Keller的研究为我们理解鲨鱼生物学增添了至关重要的信息。故选C。 35. 根据第一段“A new study suggests some sharks can read Earth’s field like a map and use it to travel long distances with accuracy.(一项新的研究表明,一些鲨鱼可以像地图一样读懂地球的磁场,并准确地用它来长距离旅行)”以及后文中对研究过程和发现的详细描述可知,文章主要讲述了研究发现鲨鱼利用地球磁场在海洋中寻路。故选A。 Research has shown that when families have strong bonds, kids are more likely to score high on academic performance and well-being scales. 36 . There was rarely any breeze, and it was extremely wet. The sky turned dark. Lightning danced across the sky, accompanied by low, rumbling (隆隆的) thunder. The heavy air seemed to press down on us, adding to our discomfort and unease. Suddenly, the phone rang. It was our son, David, an Army helicopter pilot. Three months earlier, he had begun a one-year assignment in a demilitarized zone (非武装区) in South Korea. David made an effort to sound cheerful, but as a man who had spent time during World War II on a small South Pacific island, I recognized the strong sense of homesickness. A booming clap of thunder shook again. “What was that?” David asked. “It sounded like an explosion.” “Just thunder,” Pat said. There were several seconds of silence. “David,” I asked, “Are you still there?” “I was thinking about what Mother said — ‘just thunder’. Other than the two of you, do you know what I miss most of all — what many of the men say they miss? Thunder. We have rain, wind, snow, and some violent storms, but never thunder.” “Remember, Dad, when I was a boy, how the two of us would stretch out on the floor and listen to the thunder? I wish I were there now to listen with you,” he said softly. As soon as I hung up the phone, I got my tape recorder, my large umbrella and a wooden chair. “I’m going to record our son some thunder,” I told Pat. With lightning flashing across the sky like a display of fireworks, I sat in the driving rain beneath my umbrella and recorded half an hour of the finest Mississippi thunder a lonely man could ever want to hear. The next day I mailed the tape to David with a single line: “A special gift.” David called again three weeks later. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ His hands trembled as he walked to the front of the stage, holding his best drawings. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】David called again three weeks later. This time he was his old self. “Dad,” he said, “you won’t believe it! I invited some friends over and we listened to the tape together — instant silence, and then a few minutes of sadness. But once we realized we were listening to the sounds of home, we felt better and connected with the people we missed, like we’d been relieved of a heavy burden. I can’t tell you how much that tape meant to me,” he continued, “Thanks, Dad! It was really a special gift.” From then on, thunder had different meanings for Pat and me. For the next eight months, while David was in Korea, we found ourselves expecting thunderstorms. Rather than feeling depressed on gloomy days, we regarded the storms as a special gift, which seemed to tie us closer to a son so far from home. It was no longer just a sound to us but a bond, a reminder of love that stretched across the miles and brought us lose, no matter how far apart we were. 词汇激活 行为类 ①意识到:realize (that)/be aware that ②继续:continue/go on ③期望:expect/look forward to 情绪类 ①悲伤:sadness/sorrow ②沮丧的:depressed/frustrated 【点睛】[高分句型1] I can’t tell you how much that tape meant to me,” he continued, “Thanks, Dad! C Self-confidence is trusting in our abilities or qualities. D Most taxi drivers need a smartphone to get to their destinations. Research has shown that when families have strong bonds, kids are more likely to score high on academic performance and well-being scales. 36 . In people’s day-to-day lives, it can take a joint effort. Here are some strategies. Create a mission statement A family mission statement can remind everyone of their family’s core values and help them establish their family’s top concerns in an official way. The whole family cooperate on the document, making it simple and fun to develop as a family. Once completed, display it in a noticeable place in the home. Read it, refer to it, and talk about it often. 37 . Schedule downtime While family time is an important part, everyone needs downtime, too. Encourage kids to spend some time alone recharging, and parents also need to carve out time for themselves. 38 . So they need some time to relax themselves. It’s harder than it seems, but they will be better parents when they do. 39 No one lives in a bubble (气泡). People are all part of a community. So be sure the family is building relationships with other families. Doing things together with other families will help people see how their family members interact with others. They might even learn new ways to strengthen family bonds. 40 . Placing high value on family bonding is a positive one. When parents set aside special time for family fun and activities, they are demonstrating they value the family and their children. A.Connect with other families B.It might seem difficult, but it’s worth the effort C.Remember that children of all ages learn by example D.Parenting is a huge responsibility putting a burden on them E.Strong family bonds also encourage better behavior in children F.But building strong family connections doesn’t always happen naturally G.It is a good way to get back on track when the family’s priorities are off 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 My Dad became the only parent after my mother’s death. My wife Pat and I were having a cup of coffee on our deck. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ From then on, thunder had different meanings for Pat and me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第7页(共8页) 试题 第8页(共8页) 试题 第5页(共8页) 试题 第6页(共8页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 2025年高考英语必胜卷(江苏专用)01 英语 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.Where are the speakers probably? C Self-confidence is trusting in our abilities or qualities. D Most taxi drivers need a smartphone to get to their destinations. The next day I mailed the tape to David with a single line: “A special gift.” David called again three weeks later. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ From then on, thunder had different meanings for Pat and me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试卷第1页,共3页 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$null
