In China, whether (是否) the parents should ask their kids to do housework is always a hot topic. Sometimes parents think about whether they should really give their kids some housework. In some parents’ eyes, kids should just be kids. After all (毕竟), it will be a long time for kids to do housework after they grow up. So they don’t want their kids to do any housework.
For most kids, it seems that their duty is to study hard, so they are busy with their schoolwork all the time. They have little time to do the cleaning or make the bed. However, in my opinion, teaching your kids to do some easy housework is important. Kids who do housework can learn some life skills. They will be useful in the future life. And they can also teach children to be independent in their life.
Once kids start going to school, you can ask them to do some simple things at home. For example, teach your kids to put away their shoes and schoolbags. Then, you can gradually give more jobs to them. As the jobs become more difficult, you can teach your kids slowly how to finish each of them. For example ,when kids do the dishes, tell them as clearly as possible how much washing-up liquid (洗涤剂) they need to use. It is common that kids can’t do everything very well at their first try. But don’t worry. Just give them more chances, and they will do the jobs better and better.

Please give your kids some suitable housework. This is good for their future.

五、任务型阅读(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,回答下列问题。It was a cold, dry February afternoon. I was in my house with my children. Suddenly, a fire broke out in my autistic (患自闭症的) son’s room. In a few minutes, the fire spread across the living room and then the whole house.
My children and I all got out of the fire without getting hurt. However, we lost all of our possessions (财产), except for the clothes we were wearing. We didn’t even have shoes on. I watched the fire go up through the roof. We lost our home. We had nowhere to live.
Fortunately, we had insurance (保险). But until we could receive some money, we had to live with friends and family and make do with what other people gave us.
The main impact (影响) was on the children. My autistic son really had problems dealing with any changes. He couldn’t even accept the fact of having to wear a new pair of shoes. Yet we had to tell him that he would be living in a whole new house and that all of his clothes and toys were gone.
Thinking about what could have happened, I couldn’t help but feel frightened. I was just thankful that my kids were all alive. Everyone was so nice. People went out of their way to help, not only on the day the fire broke out, but also in the weeks afterwards. Their kindness is the thing that has really stuck in my mind.
66.According to the article, when did the fire break out?
67.Where was the author (作者) when the fire broke out?
68.What did the author’s family lose in the fire?
69.Why couldn’t the author’s autistic son accept the fact of having to wear a new pair of shoes?
70.What has really stuck in the author’s mind?
六、语法填空(共10小题,每小题1分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入一个适当的单词 (有提示词的,填入所给单词的正确形式)。
My family had an interesting discussion about sharing housework last night. My mother 71 (say) she was always tired because she did most of the chores every day. She thought it was 72 (fair) that she had to do so much. So, we decided 73 (make) a change.
I offered to sweep the floor every evening. My father agreed to take out the rubbish three times a week. My little brother said he would fold his own clothes and clean his room on weekends.
While we were talking, my mother came up 74 a good idea. She suggested we set up a reward system. 75 someone did their housework well for a whole week, they could get a small gift, like a favorite snack or an extra hour of TV time.
To her 76 (surprised), we all thought it was a great plan. Now, everyone in my family is more active than before. We all get used to 77 (do) housework. We understand that sharing housework is just helping 78 (we). We hope this new system will last and help us develop good habits. Also, we believe that by working together, we can make our home a more comfortable place to live. Each of us plays 79 important role in keeping our home clean and tidy. And we are looking forward to seeing more positive 80 (change) in our family life through sharing housework.
