Many libraries charge late fees. How else would they get anyone to return their books? But some people say these fees discourage people from using the library. What do you think? Do you enjoy discovering a new book at the library? You might not get a chance if other kids don’t return the books they’ve borrowed. Paying a fee will teach them to be responsible (有责任心的).
——Linda
The library should encourage reading. Late fees is bad for this. They make borrowing a library book seem like it’s not worth the trouble. We should be able to borrow a book without having to worry about paying a fee. That’s how a library should be.
——Tom
Libraries should not charge late fees. Some people borrow books from public libraries and return the books late. They just need time to finish the books. Charging late fees doesn’t make people more responsible. What works is sending reminders and providing more overnight book drops.
——Lahore
I think libraries should charge late fees. The fees will help libraries. The money can go into hosting events, which may bring more visitors. And it can be used to make libraries better places, such as adding sofas. So late fees are a must.

Many of you already know that knowledge and wisdom (智慧) are not the same thing, but how are they different?
Knowledge is what you learn when reading books, going to school or researching. It’s about facts and skills. Wisdom is different. It comes from understanding what you know and thinking about it. Wisdom also comes from your experiences.
Knowledge is like knowing a lot about one thing. For example, if you love dinosaurs (恐龙) , you might have a great deal of knowledge about them. Wisdom is bigger than that. It’s about knowing important things about life, like making good choices and becoming a good person.
When you gain knowledge you know things in your head. But with wisdom, you use what you know to make wise decisions. Think of knowledge as a toolbox with different tools. The tools are the things we learn. Wisdom is knowing how to use the tools correctly. Some people explain this difference with a saying: Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit, but wisdom is knowing not to put it in the fruit salad!
Knowledge can be learned pretty quickly. You can read a book and learn new things in a short time. But wisdom takes time to develop. It comes from living and learning from your experiences as you get older.
Knowledge is good, but it doesn’t always mean you’ll make good choices. Wisdom makes you smart about life and helps you make the right decisions.
So remember to seek (寻求) wisdom while you seek knowledge. You’re never too young to start being wise.
27. What is the passage mainly about?
A. The interesting stories of knowledge and wisdom.
B. The differences between knowledge and wisdom.
C. The importance of knowledge in our real life.
D. The importance of wisdom in our everyday life.
28. We can know wisdom is much important for us to ________.

The tradition of wearing new clothes to celebrate the Chinese New Year has made hanfu experience big growth during the festival. Among the various types of hanfu, mamianqun or the horseface skirt stands out as a widely preferred choice, especially among young people.
The horse-face skirt first appeared in the Song Dynasty and soon became popular because it was both practical and pretty. It remained a great choice during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties.
Does the name of the stylish skirt have anything to do with horses? The answer is no. In fact, the horse-face skirt got its name because it looks similar to Mamian fortress (堡垒) —a part of the city wall. The pleats (褶) on the sides of the skirt look like the stairs on the Mamian fortress. Later on, people used the term mamian to describe the skirt.
The horse-face skirt is colorful, mostly red and blue. Red is the most popular color in traditional Chinese culture because it symbolizes good luck and joy. Women usually wear red skirts during celebrations such as weddings and festivals. In the Qing Dynasty, blue mamianqun was also common. As a popular color at the time, blue was often paired with black and yellow.
Today’s horse-face skirts are different from those in ancient times. They have been modernized in a number of ways, but they still help connect the past with the present. They show how Chinese culture and fashion have changed over time.
