【原文】
W: Hello everyone! Welcome to our program. So, today I’ll talk about some big shopping events and their history.
The first one is Black Friday. This one dates back to the 1950s and falls on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Originally, it started as an event within stores. But now it’s an online and offline shopping festival. Cyber Monday is the Monday after Black Friday, and it’s only for online sales. It began in 2005. Now it’s more successful than Black Friday, earning a record $9.4 billion last year. Sales tend to be on expensive technology items, like computers. We’re all familiar with Singles Day. It dates back to the 1990s but didn’t become a shopping event until 2009. Since then, it’s become the biggest 24-hour sales event in the world. Last year, this shopping event earned $38.4 billion, beating out Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Prime Day is basically the North American version of Double 11. It was started in 2015. For shoppers like me that love small parts and home devices, Prime is a great time. But it still falls far behind Singles Day and only earned $7.16 billion last year.

“Gluten free (无麸质), lactose free, vegan...” These ideas on diet might sound unfamiliar to many in China. That’s why Wang Jiaqi, a 16-year-old girl from Beijing, opened a special ice cream store called EIS Engelchen in Beijing’s Sanlitun, to spread a healthier way to enjoy ice cream.
“My friends and I love ice cream, but we’ve never encountered an ice cream that really ‘wows’ us,” Wang said. Then one day she heard her mom say that she had the best ice cream of her life at a café in a little town in Germany. “I immediately wanted to go there and try it for myself,” she added.
Lucky for her, during her summer holiday, Wang was able to go to the town and work as a waitress in the café selling ice cream. “I not only got to taste it myself, but also learned about the healthy idea. In China, where many people are lactose intolerant (乳糖不耐受) or vegan, finding suitable ice cream is challenging due to the common use of milk and eggs.” So, Wang decided to bring this ice cream back to China to be enjoyed by even more people.
At the time, the brand was only sold to cafés and hotels in Germany. But after discussions with the brand’s management, Wang not only gained the right to sell the ice cream but also opened the first physical EIS Engelchen store–all the way away in China.
Wang believes that starting a business begins with something small and is a step-by-step process. “When I was in primary school, I sold products like cookies made by myself among students,” Wang said. “I think business is about noticing problems around you and working out ways to solve them.”
24.Where did Wang Jiaqi hear of the German ice cream for the first time?

A problem has been annoying you for days — you just can’t solve it, and it’s driving you crazy. But then you go for a walk and suddenly the answer flashes right into your head! It’s a great feeling and this link between exercise and creativity (创新) has been studied by scientists around the world.
Dr. Chong Chen and his team from Japan’s Yamaguchi University wanted to find out how different types of physical activity can help us solve problems and think creatively. They looked at 21 past studies from places including the US, the UK, Spain, Sweden, China, India and Japan. The studied exercises included walking, running, cycling, dance and yoga.
In fact, Chen and his team found that it was natural walking that almost always had a positive effect on people’s creativity — even if it was just walking inside a room or going up and down some stairs, for as little as three to four minutes. Dance is also good. Most of the studies Chen’s team looked at found that dance helps significantly with creativity—particularly among adults. However, the results for yoga were unclear. And low-intensity aerobic exercise (低强度的有氧运动) like cycling was not found to have an effect.
There were some advantages from right and energetic aerobic exercise, however, but “too much effort” exercise seemed not to have a mostly positive effect. That is to say, the hardest exercise actually didn’t give the best results. So completely tiring yourself probably won’t help your creativity!
Chen wrote that his team’s findings could be used in schools and businesses by including short periods of physical activity during the day to encourage creative thinking. It’s not even about keeping fit, Chen says — you just have to move!
As he said, “Knowing that just a few minutes of walking, or other low-intensity physical activity can increase creative thinking should make getting up to move seem more worthwhile.”
28. Why did Dr. Chong Chen look at the past studies?
A. To know about the relation of exercise and creativity.
B. To encourage people from other countries to think creatively.
C. To learn if people take part in exercises in different countries.
D. To explain why different types of physical activity are important.
29. What can we know from their findings?
A. The harder people exercise, the better results are.
B. Proper walking can help people with creativity.
C. Yoga and cycling didn’t have a positive effect.
D. Adults like to dance to improve their creativity.
30. What advice did Chen give to schools and businesses?
A. They should use his findings. B. They had better keep healthy.
C. They can work with each other. D. They need just begin exercises.
31. What could be the best title for the text?
A. Exercises and creativity. B. Feelings and activities.
C. Findings and advantages. D. Researchers and studies.
【参考答案】
28.A 29.B 30.D 31.A
Chong Chen and his team from Japan’s Yamaguchi University wanted to find out how different types of physical activity can help us solve problems and think creatively. They looked at 21 past studies from places including the US, the UK, Spain, Sweden, China, India and Japan.(来自日本山口大学的陈冲博士和他的团队希望弄清楚不同类型的身体活动如何帮助我们解决问题并进行创造性思维。他们研究了来自美国、英国、西班牙、瑞典、中国、印度和日本的21项过往研究)”可知,陈博士研究过去的研究是为了了解运动和创造力之间的关系。故选A。
29.细节理解题。根据第三段“In fact, Chen and his team found that it was natural walking that almost always had a positive effect on people’s creativity—even if it was just walking inside a room or going up and down some stairs, for as little as three to four minutes.(事实上,陈和他的团队发现,自然散步几乎总是对人们的创造力有积极影响——即使只是室内走动或上下楼梯,时间甚至仅为三到四分钟)”可知,适当散步可以提升人们的创造力,而并非锻炼越强效果越好。故选B。
30.细节理解题。根据第五段“Chen wrote that his team’s findings could be used in schools and businesses by including short periods of physical activity during the day to encourage creative thinking. It’s not even about keeping fit, Chen says—you just have to move!( 陈写道,他的团队的研究结果可以在学校和企业中使用,通过在白天进行短时间的体育活动来鼓励创造性思维。陈说,这甚至不仅仅是保持健康——你只需要动起来!)”可知,陈给了学校和企业的建议是他们需要开始锻炼。故选D项。
31.主旨大意题 。根据第一段“It’s a great feeling and this link between exercise and creativity (创新) has been studied by scientists around the world.(这是一种很棒的感觉,世界各地的科学家都在研究锻炼和创造力之间的联系。)”以及全文内容,文章贯穿着“运动与创造力的联系”这一主题,因此适合作为标题的是“Exercises and creativity”(运动与创造力)。故选A。
D
Rescue workers had collected 820 birds from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the majority of them already dead. The current spill promises to be the largest in US history, and as cleanup efforts stretch across the summer, it's clear that more oiled birds will be found, stuck and suffering in the black stick liquid. And as they do with every oil spill, rescue workers will go to great lengths to capture and clean the survivors hoping to restore them to their natural habitat.
Is it worth the effort? Some scientists aren't so sure. Because the stress of being captured and bathed is as significant as the horror of being immersed in oil, and because research suggests that many rescued birds die shortly after being released, some experts say euthanasia (安乐死) is a more humane option.
Clean bird feathers repel water (防水) and regulate body temperature while dirty ones don't. Oil in particular makes feathers heavier and decreases their ability to trap air, which in turn makes birds weak and become easier to drowning, overheating and organ damage. Of course, being captured and cleaned is no picnic either. Some birds wind up returning to their destroyed habitats only to fall victim to the oil again. And those who manage to avoid a second oil bath suffer dramatically shortened life spans (跨度) and lower reproductive success. Of the thousands of birds that were rescued from the Prestige oil spill off the coast of Spain in 2002, only 600 were released into the wild; most of the rest died after just a few days in captivity.
However, bird rescuers say they have learned a lot about how to best help oil-soaked birds, and that therefore, survival rates stand to increase this time around. In the past, birds were cleaned right away, and volunteers often worked through the night bathing rescued birds. But now, captured birds are left to rest for a day or two before being cleaned, and only washed during the day, so as not to disrupt their circadian (生理的) rhythms. But part of that increase may be due to greater selectivity on the part of rescuers. The workers do blood tests right in the field now and birds that are loaded with hydrocarbons (碳氢化合物) or don't look like they're going to make it are put down right away, rather than subjected to the stress of captivity and cleaning.
And so far, while release rates may be improving, there is little evidence of better medium or long-term survival, especially for the more-difficult-to-save species. There still aren’t good protocols (协议) for repairing the internal organ damage. Anyway, rescue efforts will continue in large part because the public demands that. Euthanasia is a difficult thing to do, especially for people who have built their lives around saving animals.
32.Why do some scientists doubt the effort to rescue oiled birds?
A.Because it has cost too much time and money.
B.Because human may be infected with the bird virus.
C.Because it is torture followed by death to birds.
D.Because migrant birds may broaden the pollution.
33.The case of Spain coast spill is mentioned to indicate ________.
A.thousands of birds were polluted by oil
B.the survival rate of oiled birds was very low
C.the efforts to rescue oiled birds were ineffective
D.captivity is an impractical method to rescue binds
34.Why do the survival rates of oiled birds increase?
A.Oiled birds are kept in warm water for one or two days
B.The second cleaning of the oiled birds in daytime is not permitted
C.The rescuers often select the birds that are likely to survive
D.Hydrocarbons are removed to rescue the oiled birds
35.Why does oiled birds’ rescue remain a controversial problem?
A.Oiled birds’ internal organ damage is permanent.
B.Euthanasia is a difficult and heart-aching operation.
C.The more-difficult-to-save species will die by cleaning.
D.The rescue is oiled birds’ suffering while seeing them die is cruel.
根据第二段中的"because research suggests that many rescued birds die shortly after being released"因为研究表明许多获救的鸟类在被释放后不久就死亡了。因此,科学家们怀疑自己救鸟儿的努力可能是白费了,故选C。
33.考查推理判断。根据第三段中的“Of the thousands of birds that were rescued from the Prestige oil spill off the coast of Spain in 2002, only 600 were released into the wild; most of the rest died after just a few days in captivity”在2002年从西班牙海岸的Prestige石油泄漏事故中获救的数千只鸟类中,只有600只被放生到野外;其余大部分在被关在笼中短短几天后死亡。根据这些数据可知,被浸在石油中的鸟儿即使获救,他们的存活率也很低。故选B。
34.考查推理判断。根据第四段中的“part of that increase may be due to greater selectivity on the part of rescuers. The workers do blood tests right in the field now and birds that are loaded with hydrocarbons (碳氢化合物) or don't look like they're going to make it are put down right away”可知,获救的鸟儿存活率将会上升的部分原因可能是由于救援人员方面的做出了更大选择。工人们对获救的鸟儿做血液测试,那些身上满是石油或看起来不会活下来的鸟儿立刻被放弃了。工人们选择性地抢救那些有存活可能的鸟儿。故选C。
35.考查推理判断。根据第五段中的“while release rates may be improving, there is little evidence of better medium or long-term survival和rescue efforts will continue in large part because the public demands that Euthanasia is a difficult thing to do, especially for people who have built their lives around saving animals ”可知,一方面虽然释放率在提高,但是几乎没有证据表明被释放的鸟儿生存状况更好;另一方面,救援工作仍将继续,因为安乐死是一件困难的事情,特别是对于那些从事拯救动物的工作的人来说。所以是否救这些被油浸过的鸟儿还是一个有争议的问题。援救那些鸟儿,对于鸟儿来说也要遭受痛苦,而看到它们的死去也是很残忍的。故选D。

Reach out through social media. Connect with them through social media, text message or other means if you’re too nervous to make a phone call or to begin a meet up. Follow up on one of their most recent posts. 36
Show some love. If you’re really happy to connect with your old friend, make it a point to communicate that to them. 37 Sincere warmth can help lessen some of the awkwardness that may build up in a relationship.
38 Start conversation by bringing up a fun time you shared. It will transport you both back to that moment when you were close and help smooth over the “What are you up to now?” conversations that sound too rigid (死板).
Display your interest. As you chat with your friend, try to pay attention and ask follow-up questions. 39 Empathizing (共鸣) with them can help you connect with them and get to know who they are today.
Move past conflicts. Don’t talk a lot about your conflicts or the reasons why your friendship became less close. If it happens to come up naturally down the line, then feel free to address any possible hurt feelings. 40 In the beginning, just focus on what you had in common and the good times you shared together.
A.Bring back a happy memory.
B.Make detailed plans for the future.
C.But better avoid taking the risk too soon.
D.Update your friend on everything going on in your life.
E.This shows you’re interested in what they’re sharing with you.
F.Be warm with them and let them know how much it means to you.
G.Then starting conversation about what they’re up to will be a natural thing.

Follow up on one of their most recent posts.
37.根据上文“Show some love. If you’re really happy to connect with your old friend, make it a point to communicate that to them. 39.根据上文“Display your interest. As you chat with your friend, try to pay attention and ask follow-up questions. (表现出你的兴趣。当你和你的朋友聊天时,试着集中注意力并问一些后续问题)”可知,本句继续说明这些问题的作用:表明你对他们和你分享的东西很感兴趣。故E选项“这表明你对他们和你分享的东西很感兴趣”符合语境,故选E。
40.根据上文“Move past conflicts. Don’t talk a lot about your conflicts or the reasons why your friendship became less close. If it happens to come up naturally down the line, then feel free to address any possible hurt feelings. (放下过去的冲突。不要过多地谈论你们之间的矛盾或你们的友谊变得不那么亲密的原因。如果这是自然而然地发生的,那么就随意地说出任何可能的伤害感)”以及后文“In the beginning, just focus on what you had in common and the good times you shared together.(刚开始的时候,只关注你们的共同点和你们一起度过的美好时光)”可知,本句与上文构成转折,指出避免太早说出别人对自己的伤害。故C选项“但最好避免过早冒险”符合语境,故选C。

The Voice of Rigo
Rigo had a loud voice. People were always telling Rigo to be quiet. His mother would tell him to use his quiet voice inside the house because the baby was asleep. His father would ask him to speak quietly in the car so that he could concentrate on his driving. His teacher would tell him to talk quietly so he would not bother (打扰) others who were studying.
Not only did he have a loud voice, but Rigo liked to talk a lot. Whenever he had time, he would talk with his classmates, sharing everything he considered fun. He liked to yell and shout. Sometimes he just yelled "Hey!" for no reason. He liked the sound of his very loud voice for he thought it had more penetrating (有穿透力的)power than that of an actor. But not everyone felt the same way.
When Rigo shouted goodbye as he left for school, his mother shook her head, saying "Rigo! Be quiet!" When his father drove him to school, Rigo said," Hey! There's Chris!" He pointed at his friend, who was walking to School. His father shook his head, saying "Rigo, use a quiet voice in the car." At school, his teacher talked to him three times about using his quiet voice. His classmates shook their heads, throwing him an angry look when he talked aloud.
Later, Rigo had to sit by himself for a while. His teacher wanted him to practice being quiet. Rigo had to sit quietly for five minutes. It felt like five hours or five days. When the five minutes was up, Rigo went to his desk and sat quietly. It was not easy.
After school, Rigo was waiting for his father at the roadside when he saw Chris again. " Hey!" he yelled."Chris! Hey!" The headmaster was just walking by. Rigo was sure he was going to get in trouble for his loud voice. He looked quickly down at the ground, hoping the headmaster would keep walking.

The headmaster stopped and looked at Rigo. He waited until Rigo raised his head. Confusingly, it seemed as if the headmaster had found a great treasure. Rigo twisted his fingers uneasily. "Do you like acting?" asked the headmaster. "I've never seen an actor who speaks louder than you. You're sure to become an extraordinary actor.""Me? An extraordinary actor?" Rigo couldn't believe his ears, "Yes, you," the headmaster said."A good actor must be able to speak aloud on the stage to make himself heard by every one of his audience. You can do that!" At that moment, Rigo saw his father. "By the way, a good actor knows he should use his quiet voice off the stage," added the headmaster.
He said goodbye to the headmaster and ran to get in hs father's car cheerfully. " Dad, the headmaster said I was going to become an extraordinary actor!" he yelled proudly. The next second, he seemed to remember what the headmaster had told him, and lowered his voice,"Yes,I know when to speak in a loud voice." His father was surprised at his change. Rigo then told him what happened just now and promised he would practice speaking quietly. Pleased, his father smiled,"Yes, you're to become an extraordinary actor, for yourself, and for the headmaster."

These ideas on diet might sound unfamiliar to many in China.
A.From her mother. B.In the café.
C.From her friend. D.From the internet.
25.Why did Wang Jiaqi open the ice cream store in Beijing?
A.She wanted to provide a place for friends to hang out.
B.She was trying to promote traditional Chinese ice cream flavors.
C.She wanted to solve the problem of lactose intolerance in China.
D.She wanted to promote a healthier way to enjoy ice cream in China.
26.Which of the following word can best describe Wang Jiaqi?
A.Business-minded. B.Kind-hearted.
C.Hard-working. D.Strong-willed.
27.What’s the main idea of the text?
A.A teenager called on people to eat healthy food.
B.A Chinese girl started her own ice cream business.
C.Bringing German food to China faced great challenges.
D.Traditional ice cream was increasingly popular among students.
C

If you miss one of the old friends you’ve lost touch with and think about reaching out to them, you may worry about whether it’ll be just like old times, or uncomfortable and awkward. Here are some ways to help you avoid any awkwardness while reconnecting with an old friend.

The first one is black friday. This one dates back to the nineteen fifties and falls on the friday after thanksgiving. Originally, IT started as an event within stores, but now it's an online and offline shopping festival. Cyber monday is the monday after black friday, and it's only for online sales. IT began in two thousand and five. Now it's more successful than black friday, earning a record nine point four billion dollars last year. Sales tend to be on expensive technology items like computers. We're all familiar with singles. Day IT dates back to the nineteen nineties, but didn't become a shopping event until two thousand and nine. Since then, it's become the biggest twenty four hour sales event in the world. Last year, this shopping event earned thirty eight point four billion dollars, beating out black friday and cyber monday. Prime day is basically the north american version of double eleven. IT was started in two thousand fifteen. For shoppers like me that love small parts and home devices, prime is a great time, but IT still falls far behind singles day and only earned seven point one six billion dollars last year.
C
第二节(共5小题, 每小题2. 5分, 共12. 5分)
阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
If you miss one of the old friends you’ve lost touch with and think about reaching out to them, you may worry about whether it’ll be just like old times, or uncomfortable and awkward. Here are some ways to help you avoid any awkwardness while reconnecting with an old friend.
