(23-24高二下·辽宁省沈阳市重点高中联合体·期中)In a world where technology is king, hardly does a day go by without the launch of some “world-changing” product in the field of alternate reality. 16 These include VR, AR, MR, XR and the list goes on.
Many people confuse augmented reality (AR) with virtual reality (VR) and understandably so. Both AR and VR offer alternate or altered reality experiences and as a result, it is easy for users to be attracted and wonder what is real and what is not. 17 Both aim to provide an enhanced or enriched experience to users, most commonly used in the gaming scene, but also increasingly used in other areas.
However, AR and VR can be quite different in many ways. 18 Simply put, VR “transports” the user to another world, by “replacing” the real world with a virtual substitute most commonly done through helmets or goggles to completely immerse (使沉浸于) the gamer in a different reality. For example, it can make users feel as if they are falling, thereby igniting fear.
AR, however, does not change the entire landscape of what users see. In fact, it adds to reality with digital images. While AR may be less immersive than VR, the success of games which use AR is proof that it can be just as or even more entertaining than VR games. 19
VR and AR are both powerful technologies which are still relatively new to many consumers. 20 They can completely change how we use our electronic devices in the future, but whether one will edge out the other is anyone’s guess.
A.VR can be interactive or non-interactive.
B.The main difference lies in the mode of delivery.
C.In short, at the heart of VR and AR are two very similar technologies.
D.However, they have already begun to shake things up in the gaming world.
E.They would see computer made images as an overlay to what they see in real life.
F.Moreover, since AR does not require the use of goggles or helmets, it is more accessible.
G.It is also getting increasingly difficult to keep up with the “R” s that have come into existence.

(23-24高二下·辽宁省沈阳市郊联体·期中)When you think of your closest friends, who will come to your mind? Perhaps your college roommates or the neighbor you played with as a child. Regardless of how you met these people, they most likely have one key thing in common: 21 A 2023 study found that, for those aged 21 to 30, over 80 percent in their social circles, were born within five years of them. Moreover, nearly 63 percent of adults have no close friends 15 years older or younger than them.
Spending our time with such a narrow group of people can fuel age segregation and increase our loneliness. These limitations also keep us from other generations’ mindsets and potentially surprising points of connection. 22 Of course, the ones that are older might offer a brief look into the coming years.
A program that runs schools out of senior centers has said a lot about it. 23 Dawn Carr, a sociology professor, said most older people get much from practical help—with new technology, for instance—their younger friends offered. 24 Having fun with someone decades younger definitely takes off their pressure to “act their age”.
25 Lila, aged 75, was proud that her life experiences prepared her to give advice to her young friend with depression, for which the young was grateful. Also, older friends offer more examples of what growing up can look like. If someone’s parents are the only older people they know well, they might fail to picture other possibilities. A greater pool of older friends can help young people create their own blueprint.
A.You befriend those who live around.
B.They’re all roughly the same age as you.
C.Others might find joy in exposure to new ideas.
D.Brought closer, both see more than one benefit.
E.Younger friends can be a reminder of past selves.
F.Forming these kinds of friendship is particularly hard today.
G.Indeed, intergenerational relationship is never a one-way street.

(23-24高二下·辽宁省朝阳市建平县高级中学·期中)The holidays can be a difficult time to stay on track with your fitness goals. 26 . Even the most disciplined people can find it difficult to stick to their fitness routines during the holiday season. Here are some expert-recommended tips that can help you stay on track.
27 .
Planning is the best way to make sure you don’t lose track of your goals. Plan your workouts for the week and mark them in your schedule to assure they are a part of your day.
Exercise early.
28 . Make sure workouts are in the morning and you’ll set yourself up for a productive day. Then you can enjoy holiday activities and time with family without worrying about when you’ll have time to exercise.
Keep moving.
Research shows that getting up for just five minutes every 30 to 60 minutes and performing light activities reduces the risk of heart disease risk factors. Small efforts to get moving can help your overall health during the holidays. In addition to staying active, try to avoid sitting for long periods of time, such as when watching football games or eating. 29 .
Think out of the box.
The holidays are busy, but do your best to avoid the “all or nothing” mentality when it comes to physical activity. 30 — like taking a family walk around the neighborhood before opening Christmas presents.
A.Plan ahead
B.Plan out your route before you go
C.Exercising in the morning is one of the biggest tips
D.Remember: too much sitting is harmful to your health
E.Your schedule will be filled with family gatherings and celebrations
F.Get creative with exercise and make physical activity a family affair
G.Rather than skipping the gym altogether, make time for a quick workout

(23-24高二下·辽宁省实验中学·期中)Most of us assume those hyper-achievers who are always able to squeeze in their workout, eat healthy foods and pick their kids up on time must have superhuman self-control. But science points to a different answer: 31 The only catch is that building good habits takes effort and insight. Thankfully, here are a few research-backed steps that can set you on the path to where you want to be.
1.Set a specific goal
The way you define the goal you hope to turn into a habit does matter. Goals like “meditate regularly” are too abstract, research has shown. 32 Don’t say “I’ll meditate regularly. “ Say, “I’ll meditate for 15 minutes each day. “This is actually key to habit formation, making the task easy to carry out, but it’s often overlooked.
2.Create a detailed, cue-based plan
33 Scientists have proven that you’ll make more progress toward your goal if you decide not just what you’ll do, but when and where you’ll be cued to do it. Making this kind of plan reduces the chances you’ll forget to follow through because the when and where in your plan will serve as cues to action.
A plan like “I’ll study Spanish for 30 minutes every weekday” is OK. But a detailed, cue-based plan like “Every workday after my last meeting, I’ll spend 30 minutes studying Spanish in my office” is more likely to stick as a habit.
3. 34
We’re strongly influenced by the behaviors of the people around us, evidence shows. Want to start running regularly? You’re probably better off joining an established running club than asking a few friends who aren’t yet in the habit of jogging to get in shape with you.
However, it’s important not to get too crazy - if you try to train with marathoners when you’re just hoping to work up to a 5K, it can be discouraging.
4.Make it fun to repeat
Research has shown you’ll persist longer and ultimately achieve more if you focus on finding ways to make goal pursuit fun. One excellent way is to try “temptation bundling”. Research shows that temptation bundling improves follow-through; it transforms goal pursuit into a source of pleasure, not pain. 35
A.Find the right kind of social support.
B.Tell your friends and family about your goals.
C.What we mistake for willpower is often a natural outcome of habit.
D.You’ll benefit from being more specific about what exactly you aim to do and how often.
E.Having a bite-size objective makes it less daunting to get started and easier to see your progress.
F.Now you have established a specific goal, it’s time to think about what will cue you to follow through.
G.For example, watch your favorite show while at the gym or enjoy a beloved podcast while cooking healthy meals.

(23-24高二下·辽宁省部分学校·期中)“Man is by nature a social animal,” the famous Greek philosopher Aristotle wrote more than 2,000years ago. From the time you enter this world, you start communicating. Your first cry is your first attempt at verbal (口头的) communication. And as you start growing, you find newer ways of communication. You learn to form words and sentences to communicate. 36
Verbal communication means effectively presenting your thoughts verbally. 37 Be it a weekly meeting or a presentation to stakeholders (股东), the importance of verbal communication is unparalleled. People always remember a person who speaks clearly, effectively, and confidently. For instance, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs’s speech at the iPhone launching ceremony is a classic example of brilliant verbal communication that people remember even today.
38 Interpersonal communication often happens between two individuals. Reactions and responses from the other person will help you understand if you’re getting your thoughts across clearly. Public communication is also known as “public speaking”. Speeches, election campaigns and presentations are a few examples of this type.
Verbal communication is a broad topic. There are various elements that help us organize our thoughts around it. They include the tone, speed, and volume of your speech. 39 Each of these elements matters in any kind of verbal communication.
A variety of challenges may arise in verbal communication. Although difficulties with verbal communication can’t be entirely avoided, it is possible to increase your chances of communicating successfully. Consider the message you wish to communicate before speaking and communicate with respect for the recipient’s point of view. 40 Pronounce your words clearly and be conscious of nonverbal aspects such as eye contact, posture and facial expressions.
A.Pay attention to what you say and how you say it.
B.Its relevant skills are essential in the world of business.
C.Verbal communication can be classified into two main types.
D.This is the beginning of the real sense of verbal communication.
E.Language barriers are a major cause of confusion in verbal communication.
F.Everyone has a unique style of communicating and understanding messages.
G.Additionally, grammar and vocabulary are critical aspects of verbal communication.

Speed reading is a skill that allows people to process information quickly with skimming techniques. 41 Here’re some efficient speed reading techniques.
Talk to yourself less and avoid sounding out each word. 42 This may help readers remember concepts but can also be a major barrier to speed. Keep in mind that you don’t need to read every single word to understand the sentence’s overall meaning.
Cover words you’ve already read with a card. When you’re reading, your eyes can move back to earlier words. These are typically short habitual movements that don’t improve understanding or speed. Use a card to cover words right after you’ve read them. 43
Move your eyes less as you read. While reading, your eyes: move, stopping on some words and skipping others. However, you can only comprehend what you’re reading when your eyes stop moving. Learning to move your eyes less can help you read faster. So try staring at one line at a time without gliding your eyes over the words.
44 Track your progress by timing yourself daily, or each time you do a speed reading exercise. Not only does trying to beat your best speed motivate you, but it can also give you a goal to work towards.
Set obtainable goals to improve your speed reading. Aim to work on n yours pee reading daily by completing speed reading exercises. 200 to 250 words per minute is the expected reading speed for someone 12 or older. 45 At 450 words per minute, you’re reading as fast as a college student skimming for the main points. It typically takes 2 to 4weeks to double your reading speed, so be patient with yourself and keep trying.
A.Point to the words you’re reading on the page.
B.So, how do you learn and master this amazing skill?
C.Time your reading speed so you can track your progress.
D.Some readers sound out every word they read in their heads.
E.This way, you can train yourself not to look back at previous sentences.
F.300 words per minute is the reading speed of the average college student.
G.Reading can seem like such a chore, especially because it can take so long.

Online learning is a term used to describe distance or correspondence courses that are offered over the Internet. 46
There are two types of online course access: open and restricted. Open access allows virtually anyone with an Internet browser to view the course material. 47 This initiative removes the barriers to advanced knowledge and allows anyone with the interest to learn. The other type of online courses are restricted access courses, which limit the class to registered students. These courses offer instructor interaction and require grades upon completion.
It is more efficient for both sides to access course materials online. 48 The recurring cost is for marking and moderating the class communications. This greatly reduced the staff time and costs. Online courses also allow students to complete coursework from a wide range of locations and remove the time restriction to access course lectures.
The material for online courses provided by educational institutions has been carefully reviewed and approved before the course is offered. Many introduction and intermediate courses do not change. 49 Due to the reduced expenses for online courses, the fees are sometimes lower than a standard instructor-led course. Additional savings like transportation make online learning the most cost-effective learning method available.
50 These tools include mobile audio and video viewers, improved online interactive tests, and tool and course management software. The continued development in this area will further enhance the quality of online courses and encourage more people to further their education.
A.As a result, the courses are stable.
B.Students are required to use effective study skills.
C.The fees are much lower so that most students can afford it.
D.Technology continues to expand to meet the needs of online students.
E.This type of online learning does not require interaction with an instructor.
F.From the educator perspective, the course lectures can be recorded once and reused.
G.It is prized as a cost-effective method of providing access to education for a large population.

(23-24高二下·辽宁省沈文新高考研究联盟·期中)Based on his own research at Washington University in St. Louis and other scientific studies, psychology lecturer Bono offers the following tips for getting and staying happier in your life.
51 Looking forward to an enjoyable experience can make it all that much sweeter. Wait a couple of days before seeing a new movie that just came out, plan your big vacation for later in the summer, and try to take time to enjoy each bite of dessert. On the opposite, get negative tasks out of the way as quickly as possible — any delay will only make them seem worse.
People who focus more on process than outcome tend to remain motivated in the face of setbacks. They’re better at sticking with major challenges and prefer them over the easy route. 52 Because it celebrates rewards that come from the work itself. Focusing only on the outcome can lead to premature burnout if things don’t go well.
53 Find an activity that allows you to get together with friends on a regular, ongoing basis. A weekly happy hour, poker night, or TV show ensures consistency and motivation in your social interactions. People with high-quality relationships are not only happier, but also healthier. 54
The next time you are attracted to use your phone to look through social media, look through your list of contacts instead. 55 The happiness you get from a real connection with another person will be far greater than any comments or likes you get on social media.
A.Anticipation itself is pleasurable.
B.Decrease unnecessary socializing.
C.Find someone to call or FaceTime.
D.This “growth mindset” helps people stay energized.
E.Facebook and Instagram often overstate how much better off others are.
F.Nothing is more important for our psychological health than high-quality friendships.
G.They recover from illnesses more quickly, live longer, and enjoy more enriched lives.

(23-24高二下·辽宁省七校协作体·期中)Up to 80% of premature heart disease can be prevented by making specific lifestyle choices. Some strategies, such as exercising and managing weight, are well known. 56 . “A small change in your everyday routine can potentially have a big impact in the long run,” says preventive cardiologist Dr. Beth Abramson.Get eight hours of sleep
“ 57 ,” says Dr. Arya Sharma, founder of the Canadian Obesity Network. If we’re sleep deprived, our bodies also have more difficulty controlling blood pressure, inflammation (发炎) and glucose levels. These factors can all have an impact on heart health.
58
“We know that loneliness is a risk factor for heart health,” says Abramson. “Volunteering gets you out and creates a social network.” Research published in Psychosomatic Medicine in 2020 showed that a feeling of purpose in life is linked to a lower likelihood of heart attack.Avoid polluted air
Exposure to this kind of pollution over time raises your risk of heart disease. Breathing in pollutants may irritate arteries (动脉) and increase inflammation. Even short periods of exposure are unhealthy for people who already have other cardiovascular risks, such as high blood pressure. 59 .Eat breakfast
A recent study found that healthy people who skipped breakfast were almost twice more likely to have heart disease six years later than those consuming a substantial morning meal. One possible reason, “If you eat a proper breakfast, you’re less likely to be hungry later and make poor food choices,” says Abramson.“ 60 .”
A.Engage in voluntary work
B.Socialize to enhance health
C.Others, as a result, slip your mind easily
D.But others may not have crossed your mind
E.We need to keep a balanced diet as part of a healthy lifestyle
F.Everything that happens in your life gets stressful when you stay up
G.Try to get your exercise far away from highways and industrial areas

(23-24高二下·辽宁省县级重点高中协作体·期中)Pickleball (匹克球) is like a combination of ping-pong and tennis, and attracts many beginners. 61 Here are some pointers on avoiding injuries.
62 Doing some types of exercise preparation beforehand makes a big difference to prevent injuries. After that, do some arm circles and shoulder rotations (旋转). Hold your arm s straight out from your sides and rotate them in small circles, and then gradually make bigger circles before rotating in the opposite direction. Finish with some leg swings. Stand next to a wall for support, and then swing one leg back and forth, then side to side. 63
To build coordination (协调), about 15 minutes should be taken to do a few drills. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. and then quickly move side to side. 64 Cross one leg in front of the other. Then quickly move your back leg out from behind the front leg to return to the position you started in. Keep moving side-to-side, crossing and uncrossing your legs in this way.
Choose the right gear (装备), too, including a paddle that is appropriate for your strength level. You may need different shoes for outdoor and indoor play. 65 Protect yourself from the sun with sunglasses, possibly with a string or silk tape that helps keep them in place, and sunscreen of SPF 50 or higher.

(23-24高二下·辽宁省沈阳市第一二〇中学·期中)After building some standard cargo bikes, 66 , this time with something very special. I wanted to build an ideal cargo bike combining the stability of a three-wheeler with the possibility to change directions like being on two wheels.
The first step was to do extensive research. 67 . An incredible source of technical inspiration was the online Tilting Group. Although primarily concerned with tilting concepts of engine driven constructions, the group is surely the best place to find information about constructing a tilter.
After researching and outlining a few ideas, I grabbed some parts and started with a very simple prototype. Building such a vehicle needs a high degree of accuracy, which was not the case with my prolotype. 68 . So I made a few more sketches, which led to an improved version of the driving and tilting mechanism.
Then I started building the tricycle. Building the structure was quite straightforward. As usual I took an old bike apart for the back triangle and then added the front part. After adding a cargo basket to the structure, 69 .
Now came the hard part the driving mechanism. I started with the usual design used for two-wheel cargo bikes, but it took me quite some time to figure out how to pass the driving force to both wheels without allowing the whole thing to lock itself in any angle.
70 , but I’m sure I can use the knowledge I gained one way or another.
A.The project was demanding
B.I decided to get my hands dirty again
C.I fell in love with three-wheeler bikes
D.I put all the parts together for the first time
E.It took me quite some time to understand the ideas behind it
F.The engine driven constructions were always the most difficult to fix
G.The consequence was that the driving mechanism locked itself occasionally

(23-24高二下·辽宁省名校·期中)If you feel discouraged because of your plain looking, here are some practical ways that you can rethink about your own appearance self-esteem(自尊).
Throw away conventional, media-defined ideas of beauty. 71 , but you can change your own. Don’t focus on the beauty you see in ads but, instead, on the beauty you see in the real-life people you admire.
Define yourself in ways other than how you look. Make your self-esteem based on your inner, not outer qualities. Focus on what you like about your abilities, personality and perspective on the world. These almost always show improvement over time. 72 .
73 . Be concerned about your body’s shape; be concerned about how your body functions are. Engage in enough exercise and sensible eating to get in shape, but not to the point of trying to force yourself to follow the image of a fashion model.
Use others as a sounding board. You may think your nose is huge, but those who care about you may find the very features that bother you the most lovely. If you’re feeling that you “look funny” or “fat”, ask your nearest and dearest. 74 , saying that you don’t need all that makeup or shapewear to be the person they love.
To sum up, changing our society’s views of attractiveness won’t be easy. 75 , and you will eventually define your identity in terms that allow you to gain fulfillment that lasts.
A.Focus on keeping healthy
B.Be concerned about how you feel inside
C.They may, surprisingly, give supporting ideas
D.Shifts in our viewpoint can make no difference
E.So work your way through the tips listed above
F.You’re not going to change society’s definition of beauty
G.And they are often more changeable than facial or bodily features

Studies find that kids who garden have reduced large amounts of anxiety, stress and tend to be in a better mood.( 园艺对孩子们的健康有好处。 Spending time outdoors in nature can bring a sense of well-being.(花时间在户外大自然可以带来一种幸福感)”指出和植物呆在一起能够帮助孩子减轻压力,会让孩子快乐,符合语境。故选E。
3.根据后文“In addition to being able to touch the soil and seeds (种子), children can also spot the differences between plants, in terms of size and color, smell different things, and hear sounds of different insects.(除了能够触摸土壤和种子外,孩子们还可以看到植物之间在大小和颜色方面的差异,并体验大自然中不同的气味和声音)”可知,本段主要讲述的是园艺可以锻炼和提高孩子们的感官能力。
Kids are more likely to eat the vegetables and fruit they’ve helped grow.(孩子们更有可能吃他们帮助种植的蔬菜和水果!)”
Through gardening activities, kids grow closer to their parents and make many new friends (园艺可以加强联系。通过园艺活动,孩子们与父母更亲近,结交了许多新朋友)”可知,本段强调的是园艺加强联系。G选项:They also develop a connection to the earth and a need to care for our planet.(他们长大后也会感受到与土壤的联系和保护土壤的责任)承接前文,指出在种植过程中,孩子增强了与土壤的联系和保护土壤的责任,符合语境。故选G。

(23-24高二下·辽宁省朝阳市建平县实验中学·期中)Many people don’t take much time for lunch or if they do, they eat at their desks while checking emails. But lunch breaks are more than just a time to eat a meal. Taking lunch breaks can make you more productive and reduce stress. 11
You may consider spending time in nature. Go outside! Even spending a short time in nature has a positive effect on your mood. 12 Besides increasing your vitamin D, spending time in nature could help calm and relax you as well as helping to improve your immunity (免疫力). Eat mindfully. Good nutrition plays an important role in your physical and mental health. Make your lunch count by eating nutritious foods. Make an everyday eating plan for yourself. 15 But stay away from sugar or caffeine because when the initial energy wears off, it will leave you tired and unproductive.
A.You can try a lunchtime workout.
B.It makes you learned and less stressed.
C.Nothing can take effect better than that.
D.Read to find more benefits of lunch breaks.
E.So take time to do something good for yourself.

G.Find a park or other green space nearby and eat your lunch there.
【答案】11.E 12.G 13.A 14.B 15.F
11.根据空前“But lunch breaks are more than just a time to eat a meal. Taking lunch breaks can make you more productive and reduce stress.(但午休时间不仅仅是吃饭的时间。午休可以让你更有效率,减少压力。)”可知,这里强调午休时间的重要性,所以E项“So take time to do something good for yourself.(所以花点时间做一些对自己有益的事情。)”
12.根据空前“You may consider spending time in nature. Go outside! Even spending a short time in nature has a positive effect on your mood.(你可以考虑花些时间在大自然中。去外面!即使在大自然中待一小段时间也会对你的心情产生积极的影响。)”可知,这里建议我们花些时间体验大自然,以及空后“Besides increasing your vitamin D, spending time in nature could help calm and relax you as well as helping to improve your immunity (免疫力).(除了增加你的维生素D,花时间在大自然中可以帮助你平静和放松,也有助于提高你的免疫力。所以走出去,在阳光下享受自己。)”可知,本句是在说明走出去,所以G项“找一个附近的公园或其他绿地,在那里吃午餐”符合语境。故选G。
13.根据空后“A short exercise session will help you meet your fitness goals and give you an energy improvement.(一次短暂的锻炼可以帮助你达到你的健身目标,让你精力充沛。)”

16.上文“In a world where technology is king, hardly does a day go by without the launch of some ‘world-changing’ product in the field of alternate reality.(在一个技术为王的世界里,几乎每天都会在另类现实领域推出一些‘改变世界’的产品)”和下文“These include VR, AR, MR, XR and the list goes on.(其中包括VR、AR、MR、XR,还有很多)”说明技术发展迅速,几乎每天都有一些新的科技产品的出现。空处承上启下,G项中的“increasingly difficult to keep up with the “R” s”和上文中的“hardly does a day go by without the launch of some “world-changing” product ”相呼应,“the “R” s”和下文中的“VR, AR, MR, XR”相呼应,表明跟上科技进步很困难,因为新科技产品不断在出现,同时引出下文对一些“R”的列举。
17.下文“Both aim to provide an enhanced or enriched experience to users, most commonly used in the gaming scene, but also increasingly used in other areas.(两者都旨在为用户提供增强或丰富的体验,最常用于游戏场景,但也越来越多地用于其他领域)”说明VR和AR技术的使用意图是一样的。空处引出下文,下文中的“both”指代C项中的“at the heart of VR and AR”,说明VR和AR的核心是两种非常相似的技术,两者旨在为用户提供增强或丰富的体验。
18.上文“However, AR and VR can be quite different in many ways.(然而,AR和VR在很多方面可能有很大的不同)”说明AR和VR在很多方面都大不相同。空处承接上文,B选项中的“The main difference”和上文中的“quite different in many ways”相呼应,恰当地引入了接下来对VR和AR如何不同进行详细解释的内容。
19.上文“While AR may be less immersive than VR, the success of games which use AR is proof that it can be just as or even more entertaining than VR games.(虽然AR的沉浸感可能不如VR,但使用AR的游戏的成功证明,它可以与VR游戏一样甚至更具娱乐性)”说明AR虽然沉浸感可能不如VR,但使用AR的游戏同样或甚至更有趣。
20.上文“VR and AR are both powerful technologies which are still relatively new to many consumers.(VR和AR都是强大的技术,对许多消费者来说仍然相对较新)”和下文“They can completely change how we use our electronic devices in the future, but whether one will edge out the other is anyone’s guess.(它们可以完全改变我们未来使用电子设备的方式,但其中一种是否会胜过另一种是任何人的猜测)”说明这两项技术目前的新兴状态,但它们已经开始在特定领域产生重大影响。 D选项“然而,它们已经开始撼动游戏世界”与上文构成转折关系,选项中的“they”指代前文中的“VR and AR”,“begun to shake things up in the gaming world”和下文中的“completely change how we use our electronic devices in the future”相呼应;由此可知,D项符合题意。故选D。

21.根据上文“Regardless of how you met these people, they most likely have one key thing in common (不管你是怎么认识这些人的,他们很可能有一个关键的共同点)”以及后文“A 2023 study found that, for those aged 21 to 30, over 80 percent in their social circles, were born within five years of them. Moreover, nearly 63 percent of adults have no close friends 15 years older or younger than them. (2023年的一项研究发现,对于21岁至30岁的人来说,社交圈中超过80%的人是在5年内出生的。此外,近63%的成年人没有比自己大或小15岁的亲密朋友。)”可知,本句主要说明上文提到的共同点是什么,结合后文的研究可知这些人都年纪接近。故B选项“他们都和你差不多大。”符合语境,故选B。
22.根据后文“Of course, the ones that are older might offer a brief look into the coming years. (当然,那些年龄较大的可能会让我们对未来几年有一个简要的了解。)”可知,后文提到了年龄大的朋友会让我们了解未来,与此对应的,可知本句是正在说明年轻的朋友会让我们想起过去。故E选项“年轻的朋友可以提醒你过去的自己。”符合语境,故选E。
23.根据上文“A program that runs schools out of senior centers has said a lot about it. (一个在老年中心外开办学校的项目对此做了很多介绍。)”以及后文“Dawn Carr, a sociology professor, said most older people get much from practical help—with new technology, for instance—their younger friends offered. (社会学教授道恩•卡尔说,大多数老年人从年轻朋友提供的实际帮助中获益良多,比如新技术。)”可知,本句主要说明项目介绍了老年人和年轻人相处会得到好处。故D选项“拉近距离,两者都看到了不止一个好处。”符合语境,故选D。
24.根据后文“Having fun with someone decades younger definitely takes off their pressure to “act their age”. (和比自己小几十岁的人玩得开心,绝对可以减轻他们“表现得像同龄人”的压力。)”可知,后文提到了年纪大的人和比自己小几十岁的人玩得开心,可以减轻心理压力,即心理层面的好处。故C选项“其他人可能会从接触新思想中找到乐趣。”符合语境,故选C。
25.根据本段内容“Lila, aged 75, was proud that her life experiences prepared her to give advice to her young friend with depression, for which the young was grateful. Also, older friends offer more examples of what growing up can look like. If someone’s parents are the only older people they know well, they might fail to picture other possibilities. A greater pool of older friends can help young people create their own blueprint.

F.Get creative with exercise and make physical activity a family affair
G.Rather than skipping the gym altogether, make time for a quick workout
【答案】26.E 27.A 28.C 29.D 30.F
26.前文提到“The holidays can be a difficult time to stay on track with your fitness goals.”(假期可能是一段很难坚持健身目标的时间。)以及后文提到“Even the most disciplined people can find it difficult to stick to their fitness routines during the holiday season. ”(即使是最自律的人也很难在假期坚持自己的健身计划。)由此判断,该段提到在假期期间坚持健身计划很难,E项“Your schedule will be filled with family gatherings and celebrations”(你的日程表将被家庭聚会和庆祝活动填满。)
该段提到“Planning is the best way to make sure you don’t lose track of your goals.”(计划是确保你不会迷失目标的最好方法。) 故选A。
28.该段小标题提到“Exercise early”(早点锻炼)以及后文提到“Make sure workouts are in the morning and you’ll set yourself up for a productive day.”(确保在早上锻炼,这样你就会为高效的一天做好准备。) C项“Exercising in the morning is one of the biggest tips”(早上锻炼是最重要的建议之一。)
29.前文提到“In addition to staying active, try to avoid sitting for long periods of time, such as when watching football games or eating.”(除了保持活跃,尽量避免长时间坐着,比如在看足球比赛或吃饭的时候。) D项提到“Remember: too much sitting is harmful to your health”(记住:久坐对你的健康有害。)
30.前文提到“The holidays are busy, but do your best to avoid the “all or nothing” mentality when it comes to physical activity.”(假期是忙碌的,但当涉及到体育锻炼时,你要尽你最大的努力避免“要么全部要么没有”的心态。),以及后文提到“—like taking a family walk around the neighborhood before opening Christmas presents.”(比如在打开圣诞礼物前全家在附近散步。)

【答案】31.C 32.D 33.F 34.A 35.G
31.根据前文“Most of us assume those hyper-achievers who are always able to squeeze in their workout, eat healthy foods and pick their kids up on time must have superhuman self-control.(我们大多数人都认为,那些总能挤出时间锻炼、吃健康食品、按时接孩子的超级成功者一定有超人的自制力。)”
可知,本段建议设定具体的目标,前文“Goals like “exercise regularly” are too abstract.(像“定期锻炼”这样的目标太抽象了。)”
33.根据本段段旨“Create a detailed, cue-based plan(创建一个详细的、基于线索的计划)”以及前一段的主旨“Set a specific goal.(设定一个明确的目标。)”
根据下文“We’re strongly influenced by the behaviors of the people around us, evidence shows. Want to start running regularly? You’re probably better off joining an established running club than asking a few friends who aren’t yet in the habit of jogging to get in shape with you.(有证据表明,我们受到周围人行为的强烈影响。想开始定期跑步吗?你最好加入一个成熟的跑步俱乐部,而不是邀请一些还没有养成慢跑习惯的朋友和你一起健身。)”可推断,本段建议寻求合适的社会支持。A项“寻找适当种类的社会支持”符合题意。故选A。

【答案】66.B 67.E 68.G 69.D 70.A
66.根据上文“After building some standard cargo bikes”(在建造了一些标准的货运自行车之后)并结合下文“I wanted to build an ideal cargo bike combining the stability of a three-wheeler with the possibility to change directions like being on two wheels.”(我想制造一辆理想的货运自行车,它既有三轮车的稳定性,又能像两个轮子一样改变方向。)
67.上文“The first step was to do extensive research.”(第一步是做广泛的研究。)说明了作者制造的第一步是做研究,E项“It took me quite some time to understand the ideas behind it”(我花了很长时间才理解它背后的思想。)
68.上文“After researching and outlining a few ideas, I grabbed some parts and started with a very simple prototype. Building such a vehicle needs a high degree of accuracy, which was not the case with my prolotype.”(在研究并概述了一些想法后,我抓住了一些想法并开始制作一个非常简单的原型。 说明作者在研究之后,制造了原型机,G项“The consequence was that the driving mechanism locked itself occasionally”(结果是驱动机构偶尔会锁死自己。)
69.上文“As usual I took an old bike apart for the back triangle and then added the front part. After adding a cargo basket to the structure”(像往常一样,我把一辆旧自行车拆下后三角架,然后加上前面的部分。
70.下文“but I’m sure I can use the knowledge I gained one way or another”(但我相信我可以用这样或那样的方式使用我获得知识。)可知,前后构成转折关系,A项“The project was demanding”(这个项目要求很高。) 故选A项。

【答案】71.F 72.G 73.A 74.C 75.E
72.根据上文“These almost always show improvement over time.(这些几乎总是随着时间而显示出进步)”可知,这里强调内在品质比外在更具可变性,与G项“And they are often more changeable than facial or bodily features(它们通常比面部或身体特征更易变)”表达的意思一致,故选G。
73.根据下文“Be concerned about your body’s shape; be concerned about how your body functions are.(关注你身体的形状;关注你的身体功能如何)”可知,主要强调要关注健康,与A项“Focus on keeping healthy(专注于保持健康)”意思相符,故选A。
74.根据上文“If you’re feeling that you “look funny” or “fat”, ask your nearest and dearest.(如果你觉得自己“看起来很滑稽”或“很胖”,问问你最亲近的人)”以及下文“saying that you don’t need all that makeup or shapewear to be the person they love.(说你不需要所有那些化妆品或塑身衣来成为他们爱的人)”可知,他们可能会给出支持的想法,与C项“They may, surprisingly, give supporting ideas(令人惊讶的是,他们可能会给出支持的想法)”意思相符,故选C。
75.根据上文“To sum up, changing our society’s views of attractiveness won’t be easy.(总之,改变我们社会对吸引力的看法并不容易)”以及下文“and you will eventually define your identity in terms that allow you to gain fulfillment that lasts.(你最终会用能让你获得持久满足感的术语来定义你的身份)”可知,要通过上面列出的建议来努力,与E项“So work your way through the tips listed above(所以按照上面列出的提示去做)”意思相符,故选E。
