And what's more, when he told me he had been sick with a cold for several days, I suggested he go to the hospital as soon as possible. That shows you really cared about your friend. yeah. But he responded by saying, what do you mean? I'm confused. Why did he say that? I thought the same way at first. Unfortunately, there is less than less empty land that can be used as garbage. Places in our planet today get more and more garbage being produced each year. How should we manage our garbage? Do we have enough energy sources to meet our future energy needs? These are two of the most important questions in the modern world, and many people are trying to find the answers. Some people think that we might be able to solve both problems. At the same time, they suggest that garbage should be used as an energy source. For example, some cities in the united states have been burning garbage to create fuel for years, but studies have shown that IT is not a good idea. Burning garbage for energy causes many serious problems. Garbage that burns easily, such as plastics, paper, must be separated from medals, glass and other materials that do not burn easily. This separation process is very costly, therefore not being done in most places. Another huge problem with burning garbage is air pollution. For a long time, people have been wearing their garbage. 41-year-old Tracey Matayian is one of those Maasai women who fought hard to become
the first-ever Maasai female referee(裁判员) . In an interview, Matayian said during her
formative years, she couldn’t hide her passion for football and would join local boys every
time she saw them play, which resulted in her being called names by other girls and
occasionally getting scolded by her parents for keeping too much male company.
Matayian later joined a teachers’ training college. After graduating from college, she
worked with Compassion International and would often encourage children of both genders to
play football.
“It was then that I got an opportunity to referee a game between Rongai Football Club
and Compassion International. There was no other referee at the time and since I was readily
available, I went ahead to referee the match,” she recalled. Matayian added that after the game,
she was eager to do more than just play and train the young children as she was also
cultivating a lively interest in refereeing.
She would later help form football teams for both boys and girls from the local clubs.
“The game occupies them as they get to spend time in the field, especially during the period
they were home due to COVID-19. Football is a game of rules, and thus it ends up drilling
discipline and character into young boys and girls,” said Matayian. She added that many of the
试卷第 5页,共 12页
youths were previously living an aimless life on account of laziness, but through football she
has managed to occupy them.
Nevertheless, her efforts to follow her passion have not gone without challenges. Her
dress code was criticized all the time. “This became a big issue for some people. They always
complained that I was not respecting our culture by wearing shorts. But I have no option, since
that’s the official dress code for the game. I often explained this to my beloved people, but it
took a long time for it to be accepted by my community,” notes Matayian.
24.How did things go when Matayian first played football?
A.She was popular with local boys. B.She was abused by other girls.
C.She was turned down by the referee. D.She was driven out of her college.
25.How did Matayian feel after refereeing her first game?

C.How children overcome their laziness naturally.
D.How crucial discipline and character are.
27.What situation might Matayian have been in?

The Summer Olympics in Paris is always impressive, but 2024 promised something
extraordinary even before the games began — the seats you are sitting on! Made from locally
recycled plastic, these seats are sustainability (可持续性) champions in their own right.
The Paris 2024 Summer Olympics made history in terms of sustainability, as 11,000
stadium seats made entirely of recycled plastic are used during the water sports. The plastic
used for the seats was collected from recycling bins in the Seine-Saint-Denis neighborhood,
and 80% of the 100 metric tons needed for the seats came from this area. The collected plastic
was cut and torn into small pieces, processed and turned into new material by a local recycling
firm called Le Pavé.
After the base materials are produced into plastic seats with different colors, the seats
have gone through numerous tests, including mechanical resistance, fire resistance(耐火性),
试卷第 6页,共 12页
as well as UV resistance. The recycled plastic chairs proved to be strong and durable, with
producers reporting no problems in the production process.
The use of recycled plastic seats is part of Paris and France’s commitment to
sustainability, with the goal of reducing downstream emissions (排放 ) by 50% compared to
the 2012 and 2016 games. Additionally, the city is working to fight against environment
worsening by making the Seine River swimmable for the first time in decades, in an effort to
host the triathlon (铁人三项) there.
The recycled plastic seats not only promote sustainability but also raise awareness about
waste recycling, with children being encouraged to throw their plastic bottles into appropriate
bins. The Paris Olympics’ use of recycled plastic seats demonstrates the potential of a circular
economy, where waste is repurposed and reused, ultimately reducing the amount of plastic
waste in landfills and oceans.
28.What is special about the seats for the 2024 Paris Olympics?
A.They won the championship in a competition.
B.They are made with a mix of plastic types.
C.They are made from recyclable plastic.
D.They are produced from local raw materials.
29.Where was the plastic for the seats mostly collected from?
A.Recycling firms. B.Local recycling bins.
C.All over France. D.International suppliers.
30.What does the numerous tests mainly show in paragraph 3?
A.The advantages of the seats. B.The production process of the seats.
C.The difficulty of producing the seats. D.The significance of the plastic seats.
31.What is one of the goals of using recycled plastic seats at the Paris Olympics?
A.To create continued economic growth. B.To reduce energy consumption.
C.To attract more attention to the games. D.To contribute to environmental efforts.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, DeepSeek, a Chinese AI company,
has appeared as a pioneer in educational technology. Its latest model, DeepSeek-R1, combines
advanced machine learning methods to provide personalized learning solutions for students
worldwide.
Unlike traditional AI models that depend on pre-programmed answers, DeepSeek-R1
试卷第 7页,共 12页
uses reinforcement (强化 ) learning to drive human logical thinking. This allows it to guide
students through problem-solving step by step, much like a patient teacher. For example, when
a student struggles with a math equation, DeepSeek-R1 doesn’t just give the answer, it breaks
down the logic, identifies mistakes, and encourages critical thinking.
The model’s applications reach beyond academic (学术的) areas. In language learning,
it analyzes students’ pronunciation through AI speech recognition and offers real-time
responses. For teachers DeepSeek-R1 can make lesson plans in line with curriculum standards
and even predict students’ learning difficulties based on historical data. Its “adaptive testing”
feature creates personalized quizzes that adjust difficulty according to individual progress.
However, challenges remain. Critics argue that over-dependence on AI might reduce
human interaction in education. DeepSeek’s developers address this by stressing its role as an
“addition, not a replacement.” As Dr. Li, a DeepSeek researcher, stated. “Our goal is to free
teachers from routine tasks so they can focus on inspiring creativity.”
Looking ahead, DeepSeek aims to combine virtual reality (VR) and its platform,
enabling students to explore historical events or scientific concepts in engaging 3D
environments. While ethical (伦理的 ) debates about AI in education continue to exist, one
thing is clear---tools like DeepSeek are reshaping how we learn, mixing technology with
human wisdom
32.What makes DeepSeek-R1 different from traditional AI models?
A.It uses pre-programmed answers.
B.It focuses on memory techniques.
C.It replaces teachers in classrooms.
D.It employs reinforcement learning for logical thinking.
33.The underlined word “adaptive” in Paragraph 3 most likely means ________.
A.fixed B.adjustable C.appealing D.limitless
34.What can be inferred about DeepSeek’s future plans?
A.VR technology will improve interactive learning
B.It will replace all classroom activities.
C.It gives priority to gains rather than educational values.
D.Teachers will lose their jobs to AI.
35.What is the main purpose of the passage?
A.To recommend DeepSeek products.
试卷第 8页,共 12页
B.To complain the risks of AI in schools.
C.To discuss AI’s role in transforming education.
D.To compare different AI models.

Four Ways to Be a Great Roommate
Having a roommate can be one of the best experiences in college or, easily, one of the
worst. 36 Follow these tips to avoid the common mistakes that turn good roommate
relationships sour.
◇Talk things out. Communication is key. If something happens, sit down with your
roommate and have a face-to-face conversation. I've seen roommate relationships fall apart
because something happens and, instead of talking to each other, the two start complaining
about their roommates behind their backs. 37
◇Don't expect to be best friends. Some roommates become the best of friends, and
some don't. Don't put pressure on yourself or your roommate, especially when you first meet.
38 And if your roommate doesn't end up being your best friend, don't worry.
◇Ask before you take. This applies to food, clothes and anything else. If you want to
keep a relationship going, show your roommate that you have respect for what is his or hers by
asking first. 39
◇Clean up after yourself. This should do without saying. Don't be lazy. Or, at least,
don't bury your roommate in your clothes and garbage. Most people I've come across in
college are messy. 40 But being considerate with where you put your stuff will help you
avoid conflict.
A.So you need to think twice before you help your roommates out.
B.This creates nothing but awkward situations and unhappiness.
C.Even if you both agree to share everything, you should still ask.
D.You don't have all the time to clean your room and keep it organized.
E.It all starts with you to have a good relationship with your roommate.
F.Sometime you get stuck with someone who has tons of negative energy.
G.Remember, you're trying to make a new friend, not to scare your roommate away.

阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
When I was in middle school, my family moved to Seattle, where my parents started
their new business — a small grocery store downstairs my house. As a girl of shy and reserved
nature, I had to take a fresh start to fit into the sophisticated(复杂的) city life.
One sunny day, my school announced an exciting event, a talent show for the local food
bank. Students were encouraged to showcase their unique talents in front of the public in the
city hall on National Day. A buzz of excitement fed the school as everyone began preparing for
the big day. Deep down, I felt a spark of curiosity and a desire to participate. However, my
self-doubt held me back, “I don’t have any special skills to share.”
Days turned into weeks, and the talent show drew closer. I couldn’t shake the upsetting
feeling until one day, Emma, one of the most popular girls in my class, came to me while I was
helping in the grocery store after class. “How about singing together in the talent show?” She
grinned, “I heard you singing a tune, along the way back home. I can’t help following you
here.” Gosh, I couldn’t believe my ears. Emma, with personality and popularity, acknowledged
my little talent. Since Emma had the world’s prettiest voice, I felt like being favoured by
fortune.
“You two? The talent show for the food bank?” My mum bent towards us and her face
lit up. “A big occasion.” Then a light bulb seemed to go in her head. “Why not practise right
now upstairs? I bet you’ll be a perfect match.” Winking(眨眼) at us, she seemed to know we
were thinking alike.
Emma and I embarked on rehearsing(排练) almost every single day after school. We
brainstormed, exchanged ideas and rehearsed the scene. As the days rolled by, I was feeling
pretty good about our act. But the day before the performance, Emma called that she had an
acute(急性的) stomachache and was not in any shape to perform.

20. What is the problem with burning garbage?
A. It is hardly ever done. B. It causes air pollution. C. It is useless for hard materials.
【答案】18. A 19. C 20. B
【解析】
原文】For a long time, people have been burying their garbage. Unfortunately, there is less and less empty land that can be used as garbage places in our planet today, yet more and more garbage is being produced each year. How should we manage our garbage? Do we have enough energy sources to meet our future energy needs? These are two of the most important questions in the modern world, and many people are trying to find the answers. Some people think that we might be able to solve both problems at the same time. They suggest that garbage should be used as an energy source. For example, some cities in the United States have been burning garbage to create fuel for years. But studies have shown that it is not a good idea. Burning garbage for energy causes many serious problems. Garbage that burns easily, such as plastics and paper, must be separated from metals, glass, and other materials that do not burn easily. This separation process is very costly, therefore not being done in most places. Another huge problem with burning garbage is air pollution.

4.细节理解题。根据第一段中“In an interview, Matayian said during her formative years, she couldn’t hide her passion for football and would join local boys every time she saw them play, which resulted in her being called names by other girls and occasionally getting scolded by her parents for keeping too much male company. (在一次采访中,Matayian说,在她成长的岁月里,她无法掩饰自己对足球的热爱,每次看当地男孩踢球,她都会加入他们,这导致她被其他女孩辱骂,偶尔还会因为和太多男性在一起而被父母责骂)”可知,当Matayian第一次踢足球时,她被其他女孩辱骂。故选B项。

Football is a game of rules, and thus it ends up drilling discipline and character into young boys and girls,” said Matayian. She added that many of the youths were previously living an aimless life on account of laziness, but through football she has managed to occupy them. 故选A项。

10.推理判断题。根据第三段内容“After the base materials are produced into plastic seats with different colors, the seats have gone through numerous tests, including mechanical resistance, fire resistance, as well as UV resistance. The recycled plastic chairs proved to be strong and durable, with producers reporting no problems in the production process. (基材生产成不同颜色的塑料座椅后,座椅经过多次测试,包括机械性能、防火性能、抗紫外线性能等。事实证明,回收的塑料椅子坚固耐用,生产商称在生产过程中没有出现任何问题。)”可知,这些测试主要显示了座椅的优点,故选A。
11.细节理解题。根据第四段内容“The use of recycled plastic seats is part of Paris and France’s commitment to sustainability, with the goal of reducing downstream emissions (排放) by 50% compared to the 2012 and 2016 games. 46.Celebrating Mother’s Day Creatively
As is known to us all, showing respect for mother is a tradition for us Chinese. Mothers’ Day falls on the second Sunday in May on which we’ll send best wishes and express our gratitude to our dear mothers for their hard work.
When it comes to the gifts, some children give thank-you cards to their mothers, some would like to send them beautiful flowers, and others even prepare performances or give them handmade gifts.
As far as I’m concerned, it is Mothers’ Day that gives us an chance to show our respect and love for our mothers, which is contributing to improving the relationship between mothers and children. It is a good idea to cook a meal for our mothers on that day. We can learn how to cook a delicious meal through reading a cook book or watching the videos from APP. 47.I was completely knocked out by the news. What should I do? Having prepared for such a long time, I didn’t think of that coming up. Feeling at a loss, I was brainstorming as hard as I could to think of a solution, when a gentle touch on my back brought me back to reality. It was my mum, who looked at me with care and concern. “You have prepared for it enough. You can do it by yourself.” She said after my stumbled explanation. I looked back at her eyes, and a sense of confidence and warmness swelled up in my heart. Yes, I could do it myself.
Finally came the big moment. Looking around the audience, I stepped onto the stage, with butterflies in my stomach. My voice trembled at first, but with the melodies flew around, the nervousness was gone with the wind. Emotions filled in my song, I performed as naturally as I spoke every day. I saw my mum, who was looking at me with reassurance and care. It turned out to be a good performance, which helped me conquer my fears and turned me into a new person.
