They gather their gardening tools, put on old clothes that can get dirty, and sometimes even bring a small notebook and pen. Then, I drive them to a community garden where they spend the whole day at a gardening club. When I initially enrolled them in this program, I was excited about the concept but had some concerns as a parent. Would they enjoy getting their hands dirty all day? Would they be able to focus for such a long time? But when I asked them if they ever felt bored, they looked at me strangely. They clearly didn’t understand my worry, which made me realize my concerns might be unfounded. In this club, kids have the freedom to choose what they want to grow, whether it’s colorful flowers or delicious vegetables. They aren’t told that their choices are wrong but are encouraged to experiment. Something my children love about the gardening club is that they aren’t rushed to finish one task and move on to the next. Instead, they can take their time and explore as much as their interest leads them. "Don’t they miss out on regular school activities?" worried parents have questioned me. Both of their teachers don’t see it as an issue, and more importantly, my kids are acquiring new skills that a traditional classroom can’t offer. They are learning to notice the small changes in plants and understand the growth cycle — a lesson that’s hard to teach in a classroom. They are making friends with people of different ages. They work together, sharing their ideas and efforts to make the garden beautiful. I’m grateful that the gardening club is influencing my children’s connection with nature. They are learning how to care for plants, how to be patient, and gaining knowledge that will make them appreciate nature more in the future. 24. What do the children take when going to the gardening club? A. Gardening books. B. Old clothes. C. Gardening hats. D. Watering cans. 25. The underlined word “unfounded” in the passage probably means _______. A. without a basis B. very serious C. easy to understand D. difficult to solve 26. We can infer from the passage that ______. A. The author was against the gardening club at first. B. The children have learned a lot from the gardening club. C. The gardening club is not popular among parents. D. The children don’t like the gardening club. 27. What is the main idea of the passage? A. The benefits of the gardening club for children. B. The activities in the gardening club. C. The author’s concerns about the gardening club. D. How children make friends in the gardening club. C When Madhvi Chittoor of Arvada, Colo., learned at the age of 6 that PFAS are found in all sorts of consumer products, she wanted to warn everyone. So she started with one person: Colorado state senator (参议员) Lisa Cutter, a strong advocate for the environment. Cutter agreed to meet, and in 2021 she sat down with Madhvi at a bakery — Panera. They talked about how PFAS, a group of manufactured chemicals used in consumer products since the 1940s, have made their way into drinking water, soil, food products, and the air. Studies have found that exposure to certain levels of PFAS can lead to negative developmental effects in children, increased risk of some cancers and reduced immune function. Cutter already knew a little about PFAS but not enough to push her toward drafting a bill about them. Madhvi, she says, “really planted the seed.” The following year, Cutter went on to sponsor a PFAS bill that bans “intentionally added” PFAS in a wide range of consumer goods. In order to have the bill passed, Madhvi testified (作证) at the state Capitol and spent months emailing with Governor Jared Polis. After the bill passed, Polis recognized Madhvi’s hard work, inviting her to the bill signing in 2022. It was not the first time that Cutter and Madhvi worked together. In 2021, after Cutter proposed a measure to ban single-use plastic bags in major retail stores and plastic-foam containers in restaurants, Madhvi advocated for that bill too — speaking with city leaders and businesses, and conducting a signature campaign. At the beginning of 2024, that measure finally took full effect. And Madhvi, now 13, isn’t resting on her laurels. “There’s still more that needs to be banned, like PFAS in toilet paper and cleaning products,” she says. She has kept up her advocacy locally and abroad. And on a recent vacation in her hometown, she found time to organize a beach cleanup and speak at schools about pollution. 28. Why did Madhvi want to meet Cutter? A. To explore ways to resolve the PFAS problem. B. To prevent her from purchasing PFAS products. C. To seek support for a bill against the use of PFAS. D To inform her of PFAS’ negative effects on children. 29. How did Madhvi contribute to the passing of the PFAS bill? A. By drafting it together with Cutter. B. By conducting a signature campaign. C. By speaking with influential businesses. D. By gaining support from the government. 30. What can be inferred about Madhvi from the last paragraph? A. She is tired from her work. B. She feels proud of herself. C. She wants to achieve more. D. She cares little about fame. 31. What can be the best title for the text? A. Madhvi’s Environmental Campaigns B. Colorado’ s Bills on PFAS and Plastics C. A Teen’s Journey to Global Recognition D. A Young Voice against Environmental Damage D Every time we make a new video or send an email, or post a photo of our latest meal, it’s like turning on a small light bulb (灯泡) that’ ll never be turned off. This points to an uncomfortable and extremely modern question: To help save the planet, should we be using less data? Given how much of modern life depends on digital data, the answer could be a key aspect to living nobly in the AI age. Why do posts produce carbon at all? When you send a post on Moments, it goes along a chain of energy-burning electronics. Your Wi-Fi router sends the signal along wires to the local exchange — the box on the street corner — and from there to a telecoms company, and from there to huge data centers operated by the tech giants. Each of those runs on electricity, and it all adds up. Today, about 400 million homes worldwide have at least one “smart” device— curtains, electric cookers, refrigerators, and pads. By 2028, that figure is expected to nearly double. We are, in other words, being taken into a world where it’s harder to do anything without turning on a digital light bulb. This puts eco-conscious consumers in a bind. After all, who would like to be someone that can’t get their information properly because they’re too busy keeping the carbon footprint of their searches down? In the absence of systemic change, worrying over our individual data-usage decisions is “like trying to hold back a flood with a bucket and spade (铁铲).” Still, there’s something we can do. When we face a digital decision, the less data-thirsty option will often be the smarter one. Blocking third-party tracking when we’ re on the web, for example, not only reduces the power consumption of internet browsing; it’s also good for your privacy. More fundamentally, maybe we don’t need to turn everything into data. If I put down my phone the next time I’m on a train, it won’t save the planet. But I’ll be looking out the window with my own eyes, creating a memory that releases no carbon at all. 32. What does the author imply about data usage? A. It is energy-consuming. B. It is easy and convenient. C. Its negative effects are ignored. D. Its benefits are underestimated. 33. What is the function of paragraph 2? A To entertain. B. To inform. C. To persuade. D. To inspire. 34. What do the underlined words “in a bind” mean in paragraph 3? A. At risk. B. At a loss. C. At ease. D. At a disadvantage. 35. What does the author emphasize concerning carbon reduction in the last paragraph? A. The removal of digital data. B. The promotion of ecotourism. C. The value of personal contribution. D. The significance of systemic change. Surviving each day requires a lot of effort on our part, so make sure that you are fully equipped physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to meet the challenges ahead. At the time, I did not consider this a luxury, although today, it certainly would be. My mother was a nurse. Though she didn’t talk much about her work in the hospital, I could tell she had her own plans and dreams in her career. She always wore a sweet smile and spoke gently when she was on the phone with her patients. But as a child, I took it for granted that mothers were the sandwich-makers, the finger-painting appreciators, the homework monitors, and housework doers in a child’s life. I never gave much thought to the fact that this ambitious, intelligent woman would spend almost every lunch hour throughout those years with me. For this, I am forever grateful. One lunchtime in particular will stay with me forever. I was in the third grade and two weeks earlier had been picked to be the princess in the spring play. Every lunch hour, my mother rehearsed (排练) my lines with me. But no matter how easily I delivered them at home, as soon as I stepped onstage, every word disappeared from my head. Finally, my teacher kindly asked me to switch to a narrator’s part in the play. I didn’t tell my mother that noon what had happened. But she seemed to sense my unease because she asked if I wanted to walk in the yard after lunch. It was a lovely spring day and the grass was becoming thick under our feet. Our rose vine on the fence was turning green. Throughout the grass, we could see yellow dandelions (蒲公英) in bunches, as if a painter had touched our landscape with drops of gold. “I think I’m going to dig up all these weeds,” she said, pulling a dandelion up by its roots. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I felt at once surprised and relieved that she had guessed my pain. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 邵阳市第二中学 2025 年 高二英语 第一次月考 满分:150 分 时间:120 分钟 第一部分听力(共两节, 满分 30 分) 第一节(共 5 小题; 每小题 1.5 分, 满分 7.5 分) 听下面 5 段对话。 Where are the speakers? W: A heartbroken image captures a young polar bear sleeping on the melting pieces of a tiny iceberg. British part time photographer Nima Sarikhani captured the scene in Svalbard, which sits deep inside the Arctic circle, around 500 miles from the North Pole. The image was crowned the winner of this year’s wild life photographer of the year, People’s Choice award. After three days of desperately searching for polar bears through thick fog, Sarikhani finally spotted two polar bears, a younger male and an older male, just before midnight. As the ship got close to the bears, the younger one climbed on a small iceberg and carved out a bed with his paws before falling asleep. Sarikhani said this photograph has caused strong emotions in many of those who have seen it. An estimated 26,000 polar bears remain in the wild, and they are at the risk of dying out as rising temperatures melt away the sea ice these animals depend on. Director of the natural history museum said the heartbreaking image allows us to see the beauty and fragility of our planet. This thought-provoking image is a striking reminder of the essential bond between an animal and its habitat. And serves as a visual representation of the harmful impacts of climate warming and habitat loss. Sarikhani said he hoped his photograph could inspire hope. He added there is still time to fix the mess we have caused. A Cultural Fair Ideas to Wow Your Audience Currently, cultural fair ideas are more popular than ever, as communities seek engaging ways to celebrate diversity and promote cross-cultural understanding. B 25. A 26. B 27. 根据第一段中“They gather their gardening tools, put on old clothes that can get dirty, and sometimes even bring a small notebook and pen.(他们收集园艺工具,穿上可能弄脏的旧衣服,有时甚至带上一个小笔记本和一支笔)”可知,孩子们去园艺俱乐部时会带旧衣服。 根据第二段中“Would they be able to focus for such a long time? But when I asked them if they ever felt bored, they looked at me strangely. They clearly didn’t understand my worry…(他们能专注这么长时间吗?但当我问他们是否感到无聊时,他们奇怪地看着我。他们显然不理解我的担心……)”可知,这让我意识到我的担心可能是没有根据的。故可猜测划线单词unfounded为“没有根据的”意思,与A项without a basis“没有根据”意思一致。故选A项。 根据最后一段中“They are learning how to care for plants, how to be patient, and gaining knowledge that will make them appreciate nature more in the future.( 他们正在学习如何照顾植物,如何有耐心,并获得知识,使他们在未来更加欣赏自然)”可推知,孩子们从园艺俱乐部学到了很多东西。 根据文章大意以及最后一段“I’m grateful that the gardening club is influencing my children’s connection with nature. They are learning how to care for plants, how to be patient, and gaining knowledge that will make them appreciate nature more in the future.( 我很感激园艺俱乐部正在影响我的孩子与大自然的联系。他们正在学习如何照顾植物,如何有耐心,并获得知识,使他们在未来更加欣赏自然)”可知,文章主要讲的是儿童园艺俱乐部对孩子产生的积极影响以及它的好处。故选A项。 C When Madhvi Chittoor of Arvada, Colo., learned at the age of 6 that PFAS are found in all sorts of consumer products, she wanted to warn everyone. D. To inform her of PFAS’ negative effects on children. A Young Voice against Environmental Damage 【答案】28. A 29. D 30. C 31. 文章在第一段“When Madhvi Chittoor of Arvada, Colo., learned at the age of 6 that PFAS are found in all sorts of consumer products, she wanted to warn everyone.(当科罗拉多州阿瓦达的Madhvi Chittoor在6岁时得知各种消费品中都含有PFAS时,她想警告所有人)”以及第二段“They talked about how PFAS, a group of manufactured chemicals used in consumer products since the 1940s, have made their way into drinking water, soil, food products, and the air.(他们谈到了PFAS是如何进入饮用水、土壤、食品和空气的。PFAS是一组自20世纪40年代以来用于消费品的化学制品)”和“Cutter already knew a little about PFAS but not enough to push her toward drafting a bill about them.(卡特已经对PFAS有了一些了解,但还不足以促使她起草一项有关PFAS的法案)”可推知,Madhvi想与参议员Cuter会面的目的是要探索解决PFAS向题的解决办法。故选A。 从文章第三段“In order to have the bill passed, Madhvi testified (作证) at the state Capitol and spent months emailing with Governor Jared Polis.(为了让法案获得通过,马德维在州议会作证,并花了几个月的时间与州长贾里德·波利斯(Jared Polis)发电子邮件)”可知,Madhvi在推动PFAS禁令通过中做出的贡献是获得了政府部门的支持。 从最后一段“And Madhvi, now 13, isn’t resting on her laurels. “There’s still more that needs to be banned, like PFAS in toilet paper and cleaning products,” she says.(现年13岁的Madhvi并没有满足于她的荣誉。“还有更多的东西需要被禁止,比如卫生纸和清洁产品中的PFAS,”她说)”可推知,Madhvi想为继续推动环保做出更多。故选C。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。通过第一段的“When Madhvi Chittoor of Arvada, Colo., learned at the age of 6 that PFAS are found in all sorts of consumer products, she wanted to warn everyone.(当科罗拉多州阿瓦达的Madhvi Chittoor在6岁时得知各种消费品中都含有PFAS时,她想警告所有人)”和整篇文章的脉络结构,Madhvi在6岁时就向参议员普及PFAS知识并通过努力促进PFAS相关法案的通过,13岁的时候Madhvi不满足现状继续她的环保倡导。 D。 D Every time we make a new video or send an email, or post a photo of our latest meal, it’s like turning on a small light bulb (灯泡) that’ ll never be turned off. A. To entertain. B. To inform. A 33. B 34. B 35. 根据文章第一段“Every time we make a new video or send an email, or post a photo of our latest meal, it’s like turning on a small light bulb (灯泡) that’ll never be turned off. This points to an uncomfortable and extremely modern question: To help save the planet, should we be using less data? Given how much of modern life depends on digital data, the answer could be a key aspect to living nobly in the AI age.(每次我们制作一个新视频、发一封电子邮件、发布一张我们最近吃的饭的照片,就像打开了一个永远关不掉的小灯泡。这就引出了一个让人不舒服但又非常现代的问题:为了拯救地球,我们应该减少数据的使用吗?考虑到现代生活在很大程度上依赖于数字数据,这个问题的答案可能是在人工智能时代高尚生活的一个关键方面。)”和第二段的“When you send a post on Moments, it goes along a chain of energy-burning electronics. Your Wi-Fi router sends the signal along wires to the local exchange — the box on the street corner — and from there to a telecoms company, and from there to huge data centers operated by the tech giants. Each of those runs on electricity, and it all adds up.(当你在朋友圈发一条帖子时,它会通过一系列耗能的电子设备。你的Wi-Fi路由器通过电线将信号发送到本地交换机——街角的盒子——然后从那里发送到电信公司,再从那里发送到由科技巨头运营的大型数据中心。每一个都是用电运行的,这些都加起来了。)”可知,作者指出每一次发送信总、发布照片等行为都会产生碳排放,因为这些行为都依赖于一系列耗电的电了设备。故选A。 根据第二段内容“Why do posts produce carbon at all? When you send a post on Moments, it goes along a chain of energy-burning electronics. Your Wi-Fi router sends the signal along wires to the local exchange — the box on the street corner — and from there to a telecoms company, and from there to huge data centers operated by the tech giants. Each of those runs on electricity, and it all adds up.( 为什么帖子会产生碳呢? 根据下文“After all, who would like to be someone that can’t get their information properly because they’re too busy keeping the carbon footprint of their searches down?(毕竟,谁愿意成为一个因为忙于降低搜索的碳足迹而无法正确获取信息的人呢?)”和作者提到“This puts eco-conscious consumers in a bind.(这让有环保意识的消费者陷入了困境。)” 最后一段“Still, there’s something we can do. But I’ll be looking out the window with my own eyes, creating a memory that releases no carbon at all.(不过,我们还是有办法的。 Surviving each day requires a lot of effort on our part, so make sure that you are fully equipped physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to meet the challenges ahead. When ____63____ (question) about the meaning of “DeepSeek,” its latest R1 chatbot replied, “The name reflects the company’s mission to deeply explore____64____advance the foundational technologies of AI, aiming _____65_____ (push) the boundaries of AI innovation and application.” 56. was founded 57. innovative 58. has undergone 59. which 60. Unlike 61. itself 62. efficiency 63. questioned 64. and 65. to push 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。 故填was founded。 故填has undergone。 故填which。 When its latest R1 chatbot was questioned about the meaning of “DeepSeek,”。 故填and。 此处为aim to do sth. 故填to push。 Dear Mike How have you been doing recently? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 【答案】Dear Mike, How have you been doing recently? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: “I think I’m going to dig up all these weeds,” she said, pulling a dandelion up by its roots. I protested, “But they’re so pretty! Look at how bright and golden they are.” She paused, holding the dandelion gently in her hand, and smiled. “You’re right,” she said. “They are beautiful in their own way. Just like people — everyone has their own unique charm, even if they don’t fit into what others expect.” She looked at me intently, her eyes filled with understanding and concern. “I can see something’s been bothering you,” she added softly. I felt at once surprised and relieved that she had guessed my pain. I hesitated for a moment, and then confessed about losing the princess role in the play. She listened quietly. When I finished in sadness, she said, “Sometimes, the roles we don’t expect turn out to be the most meaningful. Being the narrator might not feel glamorous, but it’s just also important. You have a chance to tell the story in your own way.” Her words comforted me, and I realized she was right. Her wisdom and unconditional support became my guiding light, and I carried that lesson with me long after the play ended. 词汇激活 行为类 ①反对:protest/object ②承认:confess/admit/acknowledge ③结束:finish/end ④意识到:realize/recognize 情绪类 ①担忧:concern/worry ②悲伤:sadness/sorrow/unhappiness 【点睛】[高分句型1] Just like people — everyone has their own unique charm, even if they don’t fit into what others expect.
