JD.com Enters Food Delivery Market
JD.com, one of China's largest online shopping platforms, announced its plan to enter the food delivery business in June 2024. This decision puts it in direct competition with existing giants like Meituan and Ele.me.
The company said it would use its strong logistics network to provide fast delivery services. JD.com already has over 200,000 delivery workers across China. "We aim to deliver meals within 30 minutes in most areas," said a JD spokesperson.
Industry experts believe JD.com's biggest advantage is its ability to connect food delivery with its online supermarkets. For example, customers could order both lunch and groceries in one app. However, some doubt whether JD.com can attract enough restaurants and users quickly.
The food delivery market in China is worth over 600 billion yuan. While the competition will be tough, JD.com's move shows its determination to expand beyond traditional e-commerce.
48. When did JD.com announce its food delivery plan?
A. 2022 B. 2023 C. 2024 D. 2025
49. What does the word "giants" mean in Paragraph 1?
A. Big companies B. Tall buildings
C. New ideas D. Small shops
50. What is JD.com's main advantage according to experts?
A. Low prices B. Fast delivery network
C. International service D. Free groceries
51. What is the writer's opinion about JD.com's new plan?
A. It will definitely fail B. It faces challenges but has potential
C. It's not important for the market D. It's better than Meituan's service
【答案】48-51 CABB
【解析】本文主要讲述京东进军外卖行业。
【48】细节理解题。定位原文第一段首句:"JD.com... announced its plan to enter the food delivery business in June 2024." 其他选项(2022/2023/2025)均未在文中出现,属于干扰项。
【49】根据上下文推断词义。第一段提到京东将与"existing giants like Meituan and Ele.me"竞争。美团和饿了么是中国知名外卖平台,属于行业中的“大公司”。选项B(高楼)、C(新想法)、D(小商店)均不符合语境,且与竞争对手的实际情况不符。
【50】原文第二段明确提到京东的物流优势:"use its strong logistics network to provide fast delivery services",且第三段补充说明其能结合外卖与在线超市。选项A(低价)、C(国际服务)、D(免费杂货)均未在文中提及。需注意题目问的是“experts认为的优势”,而非其他可能存在的优势。
【51】作者态度题需结合全文分析。最后一段提到市场竞争激烈("competition will be tough"),但京东有扩展决心("shows its determination"),体现“挑战与潜力并存”。选项A(必定失败)和C(不重要)与文中积极描述矛盾;选项D(优于美团)属于过度推断,文中仅提到竞争,未直接比较优劣。
C
Have you ever heard of upcycling? It is a way of turning old or unnecessary things into something useful and often beautiful.
Is it the same as recycling? Recycling usually takes old things, like paper and glass, and breaks them down to make a new product. When you upcycle an object, you are probably doing something different. You can simply refashion it. For example, you might make a bag out of an old T-shirt. Also, the upcycled object is usually in the same, or even better condition.
Upcycling isn’t a new idea. Some of the best examples of modem-day upcycling come from the old times. In those days, things were repurposed over and over until they were no longer useful. Upcycling is a way of life. Things shouldn’t be just thrown away when they can be saved and turned into something useful.
It’s clear that upcycling is green. It is also considered to be more environmentally friendly than recycling. Upcycling can just require your own ideas and work, but recycling requires energy or water to break down things.
Grace, a young woman from the UK, takes used tea bags and turns them into dresses, shoes and even hats. Every day she drinks some tea, then dries out the tea bags with the tea still in them. When they’re dry, she takes the tea out and puts the bags together to make an item of clothing. This can take a long time, but Grace has made lots of artworks.
In fact, no matter you create objects from old things or buy ready-made products from upcycled things, both ways are helpful for the environment and can bring you something that’s both beautiful and useful. Get started today!

Recently, I asked a seeing friend who had just walked in the woods what she had noticed. “Nothing special,” she replied.
How was it possible, I asked myself, to walk through the woods and see nothing worthy of note? I who cannot see find hundreds of things to interest me only through touch. If I can get so much pleasure from touch, how much more beauty must be found by sight? And I have imagined what I should most like to see if I were given the use of my eyes for just three days.
On the first day, I should want to see the people who have made my life worth living and the books which have been read to me. In the afternoon, I should take a walk in the woods and admire the beauties of nature. That night, I should not be able to sleep.
On my second day, I should go to the museums to see man’s progress. I should try to explore the spirit of man through his art. In the evening, I should spend at the movies.
The following day, I should spend in the world of common people going about the business of life. At midnight permanent (永久的) night would close in on me again, and I should realize how much I had left unseen.
I who am blind can give one suggestion to those who see: Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be blind. The same is true of other senses. Hear the songs of birds, as if you would be deaf tomorrow. Smell the flowers, as if tomorrow you could never smell again…But of all the senses, I’m sure that sight must be the most pleasant.
(Adapted from “Three Days to See” by Helen Keller)

Candy is smart, talented and really nice. As a team leader, she wishes Frank, a member of her politics project, did his part as required. But rather than criticize him, only to find that Frank kept falling behind. It ended up that other team members, who had to take on more work, while Frank himself complained that he was not treated fairly.
How did poor Candy get into this mess? The primary reason was that Candy failed in a key part of leadership—the duty to provide clear feedback(反馈)for team members. This isn’t simply a duty but a correctness.
Failing to question or criticize Frank’s work, Candy was in fact unkind. Many people are not a failure, like Frank. They’re just in the wrong place, and still left in the dark. What they really need is feedback from their leaders. However, Candy didn’t bring out a gift in Frank.
A leader had better use open, honest, continuous and clear feedback to help solve someone’s best fit in their job or in the organization. This method also avoids surprises. It’s not uncommon to see someone suddenly removed from a team. Maybe it serves them right, they wouldn’t have been caught off-guard (猝不及防) because they would have been receiving open, continuous and clear judgment of their performance.
Then why is it so hard for leaders to give good feedback? People always like to be liked, so they avoid anything that may cause unpleasantness. But that kind of feedback usually helps members find the right place for them. If you just only like to be liked, the chance of being respected is really low. However, you have a chance of being liked. Of course, the most difficult part for a nice leader is criticizing someone.
Back to Candy’s case. Not telling Frank how he was on the team only made a hard situation worse. But with a different mindset, she could have led her team to success and have been a likeable and critical leader.
60.The word “gift” in Paragraph 3 probably means “ ________”.
A.present B.ability C.pride D.praise
61.According to this article, what is necessary between leaders and team members?
A.Being nice to team members is likely to win leaders great respect.
B.Criticizing team members results in serious complaints to the leader.
C.Open and honest communication is a must for leaders and team members.
D.Praise and encouragement from leaders bring out better team performance.
62.Based on the passage, which of the following is TRUE?
A.Candy should patiently encourage Frank to try his best.
B.Candy should gradually kick Frank off her team.
C.Candy should politely show Frank the improvement he made.
D.Candy should clearly tell Frank her judgment of his performance.
63.What is the best title of the passage?
A.Become a Good Leader B.Set a Good Team
C.Frank’s problem D.Cindy’s Worry
【答案】60-63 BCDA
【解析】本文以坎迪的例子说明,优秀的领导者要为团队成员提供明确的反馈。
60.词义猜测题。根据前句“What they really need is feedback from their leaders.”可知,他们真正需要的是来自领导的反馈,坎迪并没有激发弗兰克的天赋,即能力。故选B。
61.推理判断题。根据第四段“But with a different mindset, she could have led her team to success and have been a likeable and critical leader.”可知,领导者和团队之间需要进行坦诚的沟通,故选C。
62.细节理解题。根据第三段“Failing to question or criticize Frank’s work, Candy was in fact unkind.”以及最后一段“Back to Candy’s case. Not telling Frank how he was on the team only made a hard situation worse.”可知,不告诉弗兰克他在团队里的情况只会使情况变得更糟,坎迪应该清楚地告诉弗兰克她对他的表现的评价。故选D。
63.最佳标题题。根据第四段“A leader had better use open, honest, continuous and clear feedback to help solve someone’s best fit in their job or in the organization.”以及通读全文可知,优秀的领导者要为团队成员提供明确的反馈。所以本文的最佳标题是“成为一名优秀的领导者”。故选A。

“Imagine that your home is on fire. You’re allowed to save one thing. Your family and pets are safe, so don’t worry about them. What is the most important thing you have? It can be any size.”
Linda Sue wrote a book The One Thing You’d Save. In it, a teacher named Ms. Chang invites her students to think of the question above. She wants to challenge her class to name the most important thing to them. Some students know the answer right away. Others come to their decisions more slowly. And some students change their minds when they hear their classmates’ answers. As for the answers, some choose baseball cards or toy animals. One picks a sweater that has been passed down for generations. Another chooses a box of memories about …
Even Ms. Chang shares her own choice in the end. It is a really thought-provoking(引人深思的) question. As the students are trying to answer it, they discover more about one another and themselves.
The book is a collection of poems. The writer tells the story through narrative(叙述的) poems. What makes the book popular is that it leads people to think deeply.
The book uses black-and-white pictures to show the objects the students choose. When seeing the pictures, people may think of scenes of their homes, the classroom and more.
The pictures offer wordless moments that encourage readers to think more before they move on.
Want to know what matters most to the students? Read this book.

Welcome to the Amazon rainforest. As the largest rainforest in the world, it plays an important role in keeping the balanced ecosystem on the Earth. With an area of around 6 million square kilometers, the Amazon rainforest is more than half the size of China. This area has a great many species. Actually, one in ten known species in the world can be found here.
Of the 390,000 plant species known to us, more than 40,000 can be found in the Amazon. There are different levels in the forest. At the bottom is a system of roots under the ground. Above that is leaf litter on the dark forest floor. The next level is made up of shorter plants with large leaves. Then there are the towering ancient hardwoods, and finally the tops of the trees which are taller than any other level of trees in the forest. Each level of the forest forms its own little world, home to different kinds of living things.
More than 1,300 species of birds and over 400 species of mammals (哺乳动物) hide among the forest’s plant life. This jaguar is one example. While a large number of jaguars survive here, they are only one part of this forest's food chain. They feed on at least 87 species, including frogs. These frogs, in turn, feed on insects which eat leaves and fruit.
The Amazon rainforest is a treasure house of species that can be used for food or medicine. What’s more, the Amazon rainforest breathes life into the planet by producing over 20 percent of all the Earth’s oxygen (O2). So it is often known as the “lungs of the planet”.

【答案】例文
An unforgettable school trip
Our school organized a trip to the Science Museum last Saturday. I went there with all the students and teachers of Grade 9 together.
We got together at 8:00 a.m. at the school gate and left for the museum by bus. We took a lecture by the guide as soon as we got there. After that, we took a visit around the different halls of the museum. A variety of advanced inventions had been displayed, from the appliance to industry, education and life. What impressed me most was the experience of the usage of them, which made me have a better understanding of the knowledge of AI. We also enjoyed the delicious food cooked by an AI robot. How amazing!
At the end of the visit, we said goodbye to the AI guide. It is a meaningful trip which not only broadens our horizon of the creation world, but also builds up our national confidence. I made up my mind to study hard and make a contribution to my motherland.

Upcycling can just require your own ideas and work, but recycling requires energy (能源) or water to break down things.
52. What does the underlined word “refashion” mean in paragraph 2?
A. Break down useless things. B. Collect used things.
C. Create things out of old ones. D. Come up with good ideas.
53. How is upcycling different from recycling?
A. It’s a completely new idea. B. It needs more energy.
C. It requires more time and work. D. It’s a greener way of life.
54. Why does the writer tell the story of Grace in paragraph 5?
A. To list the steps of doing upcycling. B. To give a good example of upcycling.
C. To express a different idea of upcycling. D. To provide basic knowledge of upcycling.
55. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To encourage people to do upcycling. B. To introduce the history of upcycling.
C. To compare upcycling with recycling. D. To explain the importance of recycling
D
56. What makes the writer start imagining the three days?
A. Walking in the woods. B. Asking herself questions.
C. Seeing natural beauty. D. Touching interesting things.
57. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about?
A. A description of different senses. B. A method of living a pleasant life.
C. Encouragement to the blind people. D. Advice to people without disabilities.
58. Which is the best structure (结构) of the passage?
(①=Paragraph 1 ②=Paragraph 2…)
A. B. C. D.
59. Which of the following sayings may the writer agree with?
A. Time is what we want most, but what we use worst.
B. Never leave until tomorrow what you can do today.
C. Live every moment and be thankful for what you have.
D. The future belongs to those who are preparing for it now.

“Imagine that your home is on fire. You’re allowed to save one thing. Your family and pets are safe, so don’t worry about them. What is the most important thing you have? It can be any size.”
Linda Sue wrote a book The One Thing You’d Save. In it, a teacher named Ms. Chang invites her students to think of the question above. She wants to challenge her class to name the most important thing to them. Some students know the answer right away. Others come to their decisions more slowly. And some students change their minds when they hear their classmates’ answers. As for the answers, some choose baseball cards or toy animals. One picks a sweater that has been passed down for generations(代).

While a large number of jaguars survive here, they are only one part of this forest's food chain (食物链).

“Imagine that your home is on fire. You’re allowed to save one thing. Your family and pets are safe, so don’t worry about them. What is the most important thing you have? It can be any size.”
Linda Sue wrote a book The One Thing You’d Save. In it, a teacher named Ms. Chang invites her students to think of the question above. She wants to challenge her class to name the most important thing to them. Some students know the answer right away. Others come to their decisions more slowly. And some students change their minds when they hear their classmates’ answers. As for the answers, some choose baseball cards or toy animals. One picks a sweater that has been passed down for generation.
