Amanruya, Turkey Amanruya is an ideal resort for any traveler who wants to spend the whole day outdoors. The hotel offers adventures including island picnics and explorations of ancient remains. All the rooms should be reserved two weeks beforehand. Rates start at $535 a night per person. Ngala Safari Lodge, South Africa The hotel is located on the edge of Kruger National Park. Tourists can enjoy a one-night experience in a four-level tree house to get close to the animals hanging about in the park. Just don't expect to post live to your social platform from here: the tree house is off the Internet. Rates start at $560 a night per person. La Valise Tulum, Mexico If you can't decide whether to sleep indoors or outdoors, why not book a room that lets you do both in the same bed? Such is the main feature of La Valise Tulum. The king-size bed can be moved out onto the sea-facing balcony (阳台) for a night under the stars or moved in for a more private experience. Unsurprisingly, this room is highly popular, with reservations often made a full year beforehand. Rates start at $600 a night per person. Las Ventanas al Paraiso, Mexico At this famous resort, anyone who books a room with a rooftop terrace (露天平台) can spend a magical night outdoors. The hotel's Sleeping Under the Stars Experience aims to introduce guests to the incredible star watching for which the area is known. The service includes the setup of a four-poster bed, flowers, and, naturally, a telescope for finding your favorite stars. Rates start at $615 a night per person. 1.How much should a couple pay for a two-night stay in Ngala Safari Lodge? A.$2,140. B.$2,240. C.$2,400. D.$2,460. 根据Ngala Safari Lodge, South Africa部分中的最后一句“Rates start at $560 a night per person.(起价为每人每晚560美元。)” B。 2.Which hotel suits tourists best who love observing stars? A.Amanruya. B.Ngala Safari Lodge. C.La Valise Tulum. D.Las Ventanas al Paraiso. 根据Las Ventanas al Paraiso, Mexico部分中的“The hotel's Sleeping Under the Stars Experience aims to introduce guests to the incredible star watching for which the area is known.(酒店的‘星空下睡眠’体验旨在向客人介绍该地区令人难以置信的著名观星体验。)” D。 3.What do Amanruya and La Valise Tulum have in common? A.They offer outdoor visits to ancient sites. B.Their rooms should be booked in advance. C.Tourists can enjoy the beautiful views of the sea. D.Tourists can choose to sleep either indoors or outdoors. 根据Amanruya, Turkey部分中的“All the rooms should be reserved two weeks beforehand.(所有的房间应该提前两周预定。)”及La Valise Tulum, Mexico部分中的“Unsurprisingly, this room is highly popular, with reservations often made a full year beforehand.(不出所料,这个房间非常受欢迎,通常提前一年预订。)” B。 B You get anxious if there's no wifi in the hotel or mobile phone signal up the mountain. You feel upset if your phone is getting low on power and you secretly worry things will go wrong at work if you're not there. All these can be called “always on” stress caused by smartphone addiction. For some people, smartphones have liberated them from the ninetofive work. Flexible working has given them more autonomy (自主权) in their working lives and enabled them to spend more time with their friends and families. For many others though, smartphones have become tyrants (暴君) in their pockets, never allowing them to turn them off, relax and recharge their batteries. Pittsburghbased developer Kevin Holesh was worried about how much he was ignoring his family and friends in favor of his iPhone. So he developed an app—Moment—to monitor his usage. The app enables users to see how much time they're spending on the device and set up warnings if the usage limits are broken. “Moment's goal is to promote balance in your life,” his website explains. “Some time on your phone, some time off it enjoying your loving family and friends around you.” Dr Christine Grant, an occupational psychologist at Coventry University, said, “The effects of this ‘always on’ culture are that your mind is never resting, and you're not giving your body time to recover, so you're always stressed. And the more tired and stressed we get, the more mistakes we make. Physical and mental health can suffer.” And as the number of connected smartphones is increasing, so is the amount of data. This is leading to a sort of decision paralysis (瘫痪) and is creating more stress in the workplace because people have to receive a broader range of data and communications which are often difficult to manage. “It actually makes it more difficult to make decisions and many do less because they're controlled by it all and feel they can never escape the office,” said Dr Christine Grant. 4.What's the first paragraph mainly about? A.The popularity of smartphones. B.The progress of modern technology. C.The signs of “always on” stress. D.The cause of smartphone addiction. 根据第一段最后一句“All these can be called ‘always on’ stress caused by smartphone addiction.” C。 5.Kevin Holesh developed Moment to ________. A.research how people use their mobile phones B.help people control their use of mobile phones C.make people better use mobile phones D.increase the fun of using mobile phones 答案:B 细节理解题。根据第三段第三句“The app enables users to see how much time they're spending on the device and set up warnings if the usage limits are broken.” B。 6.What's Dr Christine Grant's attitude towards “always on” culture? A.Confused. B.Positive. C.Doubtful. D.Critical. D。 7.According to the last paragraph, a greater amount of data means ________. A.we will become less productive B.we can make a decision more quickly C.we will be equipped with more knowledge D.we can work more effectively 答案:A 推理判断题。根据最后一段第二句中的“This is leading to a sort of decision paralysis (瘫痪) and is creating more stress in the workplace”可推知,大量的信息会让人在工作场所产生更多压力,导致决策瘫痪,从而更加低效。故选A。 The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has detailed __1__ (instruction) on how handwashing should go.
