Santa Cruz has been known as a university town and a surfing community since at least 1960. Founded in 1907, it was the first theme park of its kind in California. The most famous ride is called the Giant Dipper, a fast ride made of wood that climbs to 70 feet in the air. Many newer rides have bright lights and modern sound effects, but ever since it was finished in 1924, the Giant Dipper has been the symbol of the park. Other popular attractions include a castle, water rides, and little cars that kids can drive on a special electric track. There is also a mini golf course, sports games, and a huge video game area that looks like a palace in the sky. Hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, and cakes of all shapes and sizes give the boardwalk a special feel all year round. Although the park is free to enter, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk does charge for rides and nearby parking. 17.When did the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk open? A.In 1907. B.In 1924. It's so easy to be a dog owner. You feed it, train it, and boss it around. It puts its head on your knee and gazes at you as if you were a Rembrandt painting. It bounds indoors with enthusiasm when you call it. Then around age 13, your adoring little puppy turns into a big old cat. When you tell it to come inside, it looks amazed, as if wondering who died and made you emperor. Instead of dogging your doorsteps, it disappears. You won't see it again until it gets hungry—then it pauses on its sprint through the kitchen long enough to turn its nose up at whatever you're serving. When you reach out to ruffle its head, in that old affectionate gesture, it turns away from you, then gives you a blank stare, as if trying to remember where it has seen you before. You, not realizing that the dog is now a cat, think something must be desperately wrong with it. It seems so antisocial, so distant, sort of depressed. It won't go on family outings. Since you are the one who raised it, taught it to fetch and stay and sit on command, you assume that you did something wrong. Flooded with guilt and fear, you redouble your efforts to make your pet behave. Only now you're dealing with a cat, so everything that worked before now produces the opposite of the desired result. Call it, and it runs away. Tell it to sit, and it jumps on the counter. The more you go toward it, wringing your hands, the more it moves away. Put a dish of food near the door, and let it come to you. But remember that a cat needs your help and your affection too. Sit still, and it will come, seeking that warm, comforting lap it has not entirely forgotten. Be there to open the door for it. One day your grownup child will walk into the kitchen, give you a big kiss and say, “You've been on your feet all day. Let me get those dishes for you.” Then you'll realize your cat is a dog again. 24.When you call a dog, how will it probably react to you? A.Excitedly. B.Indifferently. C.Angrily. D.Calmly. 根据第一段最后一句“It bounds indoors with enthusiasm when you call it.” A。 25.What does the word “It” refer to in the third paragraph? A.A dog. B.A parent. C.A teenager. D.A situation. C。 26.What can we learn from the passage? A.Children like cats can not easily follow parents' directions. B.Parents should try their best to leave their children alone. C.You can't expect children to be considerate toward their parents. D.Parents should consider what they do wrong to educate their kids. 根据倒数第四段中的“Call it ... the more it moves away. (叫它,它就跑了。让它坐下,它会跳上柜台。你攥着手越是靠近它,它就越远离你。)”可知,猫不是很听主人的话,不会容易听从指令。由此推断,像猫的孩子很可能不会听从父母的指示。故选A。 27.What is the main purpose of writing this passage? A.To tell us how a dog changes into a cat. B.To tell us how to raise pets like cats and dogs. C.To tell us the similarities between pets and children. D.To tell us how to deal with teenagers aged 13 or so. D。 C A few years ago, my sisterinlaw started to feel concerned about her teenage daughter. What was she doing after school? Where was she spending her time? My niece was an excellent student, and took part in all kinds of afterclass activities. Even so, her mom decided to put a tracking app (跟踪应用程序) on the kid's phone. At first, this made my sisterinlaw “feel better”. Then the good situation suddenly ended. She recalled, “I found out that she was someplace that she said she wasn't. I went out in the middle of the night and found her walking without shoes in the middle of the street with some friends.” Things went quickly downhill for the mother and the daughter after that. With 73% of teens having their own smart phones now, according to a 2015 Pew study, more and more of their parents are facing the question: To watch or not? Ana Homayoun, founder of Green Ivy Educational Consulting, has advised many parents and their kids about this. “I've found teens are more acceptable to tracking apps when it is included as part of a family agreement to improve safety than when it is placed as a secret tool to watch them,” she said. Mark Bell, a father of a teenage girl, said, “We don't have tracking apps, but we have set some ground rules that my daughter must follow in exchange for us providing a smart phone,” he said. For example, his daughter must “friend” him on social media so that he can read posts, and must share all passwords. When you're trying to build trust, you need to create an environment that encourages it. So, to win their trust, you always need to be straight with your children. “Parents must let children know how and when they'll be watching them,” said Doctor Pauleh Weigle. If they're not open about it, he warns, it can “greatly damage the parent and child relationship”. 28.Why is the author's sisterinlaw and her daughter referred to in the first two paragraphs? A.The author wants to give an example of the failure use of the tracking app. B.The author wants to introduce she had more communication with her daughter. C.The author wants to say that she wasn't worried about her daughter any more. D.The author wants to express she felt good with knowing more about her daughter's activities. 根据第二段最后一句“Things went quickly downhill for the mother and the daughter after that.(对母女俩来说,在那之后情况急转直下。)” A。 29.What is probably the majority children's attitude towards tracking app in their phones? A.They doubt family agreements. B.They dislike being watched secretly. C.They are worried about online safety. D.They welcome the use of tracking apps. 根据第四段最后一句中的“I've found ... placed as a secret tool to watch them(我发现当跟踪应用程序作为家庭协议的一部分,为了提高安全性,而不是作为监视他们的工具时,青少年们更易接受它们)”可知,如果不是为了监视他们,那么他们更易接受。 B。 30.Why is Ana Homayoun mentioned in Paragraph 4? A.To show how to use smart phone safely. B.To teach how to put tracking app on phones. C.To give some suggestions on how to make children accept it. D.To tell the importance of being children's friends instead of tracking. C。 31.What should be done before using a tracking app according to Weigle? A.Check the kid's phone. B.Teach the kid how to use it. C.Advise the kid to use his phone less. D.Discuss with the kids and have an agreement with them. 根据最后一段中的“Parents must let children know how and when they'll be watching them ... the parent and child relationship.” D。 D You should always support your kids and their natural talents. And if you nurture them, great things will happen. That's what 9yearold Joe Whale's parents thought when they encouraged their son to keep drawing, even though he got into trouble for doodling (涂鸦) during class. They sent Joe to an afterschool art class and his artistic abilities were quickly noticed by those around him. In fact, Joe was invited to decorate the dining room of the “Number 4” restaurant in Shrewsbury, England. Now, Joe is known as The Doodle Boy and has his own website, as well as social media pages showing off his awesome art. According to Greg, Joe's dad, his son has always loved drawing and “was added to the Gifted register in primary school aged 4”. Greg also revealed how long it took Joe to finish his drawings on the dining room walls in the restaurant. “Joe spent about 12 hours illustrating the wall.” What's more, Greg had some proposals for parents who want to encourage their kids to develop their talents: “I would advise parents to encourage their children to always follow their passion and dreams—research local workshops or groups within your local community.” Joe's teacher recognized his talent and posted his work on Instagram. His drawings caught the eye of the “Number 4” restaurant which asked him to come over and decorate their walls with his doodles. Now, his dad drives him there so he can draw his heart out. Who knew that drawing in an afterclass program would lead Joe to get his first job at barely 9 years old? 32.What did Joe do in his class? A.Supported other naughty children. B.Left school to find his parents. C.Drew pictures in the class. A.To send the children to the local restaurant. B.To talk with the children's teacher actively. C.To offer enough support for the children's dream. D.To force the children to stay at school all day long. C。 34.How did the “Number 4” restaurant find Joe? A.Joe was famous in the community. B.Joe's works were displayed on the Internet. C.Joe's teacher recommended Joe to the restaurant. D.Joe has his own website looked through by the restaurant. 根据最后一段前两句“Joe's teacher recognized his talent and posted his work on Instagram. A.Parents. B.Children. C.Teachers. D.Restaurant owners. 答案:A 推理判断题。根据第一段前两句“You should always support your kids and their natural talents. And if you nurture them, great things will happen.(你应该永远支持你的孩子和他们的天赋。如果你培养他们,伟大的事情将会发生。)”可推知,本文是写给家长的。故选A。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Making Peace with Your Parents As a teen, you're going through big changes physically and mentally. Your interests are increasing. __36__ Here is the challenge: Kids need to explore the world in new ways, and parents need to protect them from the dangers that are all out in that world. These conflicts can easily set off fireworks in otherwise calm houses. Sometimes conflicts can't be avoided. But by paying attention to the building blocks of successful relationships, you can work towards making home a happy and healthy place for you and your parents. For example, try to find a time to talk when your parents are not angry, tired, distracted or hungry. A good time to talk is when you're all relaxed. Timing is everything. If the conversation begins to turn into an argument, you'd better calmly and coolly ask to stop the conversation for now. __37__ Listen to what your parents are saying, and repeat it back to them. This shows them that you're listening. __38__ Respect is the building block of good communication. People who respect each other and care about each others' feelings can disagree without getting things ugly. __39__ How do you build trust? Trust comes by actually doing what you say you're going to do. Some teens find that doing fun activities with their parents can improve their relationships. Sometimes we forget that parents are more than rulemaker—they're interesting people who like to watch movies and go shopping—just like their teenagers! What do you do if you are trying your best, but your relationship with your parents continues to be rocky? __40__ You can find supportive adults, such as a teacher or a coach, who can lend an ear. Remember you can only change your own behavior. Your parents are the only ones who can change theirs. A.You may consider seeking outside help. B.And then you'll be able to accept what your parents say. C.You can pick it up again when everyone's more relaxed. D.Faced with the challenge, children don't know what to do. E.And your desire to take control of your own life is growing. F.It also gives them a chance to clear things up if you're not on the same page. G.You are more likely to get along with your parents and have more independence if your parents believe in you. 篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。作者就处于叛逆期的青少年如何与父母和平相处的问题,给出了一些建议。 36.E 前文提到“As a teen, you're going through big changes physically and mentally. Your interests are increasing.(作为一名青少年,你在身体和精神方面发生了巨大的改变,你的兴趣在增长。)”,且根据后文“Here is the challenge: Kids need to explore the world in new ways ... These conflicts can easily set off fireworks in otherwise calm houses.”可知,孩子想用新方式探索世界和父母想要保护孩子的愿望发生冲突。E项(并且你想要控制自己生活的欲望在增长。)承前启后,故选E。 37.C 第二段第四句“If the conversation begins to ... stop the conversation for now.”提到如果交谈变成争论,你最好冷静下来,停止话题。C项(当每个人都更放松时,你可以再次说起这个话题。)承接前文,“stop”与“pick it up again”相呼应。故选C。 38.F 前文“Listen to what your parents are saying, and repeat it back to them. This shows them that you're listening.”强调要听你的父母说话。F项(如果你们没有达成共识,这也给他们一个机会把事情梳理清楚。)承接前文,故选F。 39.G 后文“How do you build trust? Trust comes by actually doing what you say you're going to do.”提到了信任的问题,G项(如果你的父母信任你,你更可能和你的父母相处好,并且有更多的独立。)引出后文,故选G。 40.A 设空后“You can find supportive adults, such as a teacher or a coach, who can lend an ear.”提到了你可以向其他的成年人寻求帮助,例如老师或是教练。A项(你可以考虑寻求外界帮助。)引出后文。故选A。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 At age 5, I always sat with my Dad in his study every night. First, why not talk more with your mom? Hearttoheart talks can help you understand each other better. Second, you'd better learn to take care of yourself in daily life, which will definitely help prove to your mom that you are already grownup. It would also ease her anxiety if you could share with her the housework, such as cleaning, washing and cooking. I hope my proposals will be of some help to you. Yours, Li Hua 第二节(满分25分) 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. Growing up, I wanted to be just like my mom. Kind and caring, she always seemed to make people comfortable in her presence. For years she was a volunteer in our community. I loved going to the local nursing home to help with her until I hit my preteen years. Suddenly, I was too caught up in my adolescent world to worry about helping others. One particular summer day when I was twelve, Mom came into my room and told me to get up and meet her at the car. I had planned to spend the day at the lake with friends. Why did she have to ruin everything? Eventually, I made my way outside. I imagined the lake water cooling my skin. Annoyed, I climbed into the car and slammed the door shut. I sat in silence, too upset to make a conversation. “Tasha, would you like to know where we are going?” Mom asked calmly. “I guess ...” I murmured under my breath. “Sweetheart, we are going to a children's shelter, I have been there before and I think it would benefit you,” she explained. I felt a knot slowly form in my stomach. How was I supposed to help there? When we reached the shelter, I was rather surprised. It was a large white Victorian home. As we approached the large front porch, wind bells played a calming tune while trees and blossoms welcomed us. Maybe this wasn't going to be so bad. Mom rang the doorbell. The door flew open and we were led to the front room, where all of the children were playing. Toys were spread out across the floor. I noticed a baby whose body was scarred with wounds. The majority of the children had noticeable physical scars (伤疤) such as cuts, scratches and burns. What a terrible life they had had before they moved here! My heart sank. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。 As I was looking around, I felt a gentle pull on my shirt. I returned to the shelter with Mom several times. 写前导读:本文是一篇记叙文。母亲善良又乐于照顾别人,一直在社区做志愿者。一次,母亲和青春期的作者一起去避难所。在作者环顾避难所四周时,有人轻拉了下作者的衬衫,接下来会发生什么呢?作者此后多次到避难所的经历如何? [精彩范文] As I was looking around, I felt a gentle pull on my shirt. I looked down to see a little girl with brown eyes looking up at me. Her angelic face beamed, though, as I could see, there were some scars on her little arms. “Hi. I'm Ashley. You wanna play dolls with me?” she asked. I looked over and saw Mom nodding to me with a smile. I bent toward Ashley and whispered, “Sure. I'd love to.” Her tiny hand reached up and took mine, and we walked toward the doll house. Our time together brought her great joy and fun and she also made my day. I returned to the shelter with Mom several times. During those visits, some of the children including Ashley shared their troubled pasts with me in great detail. I felt sore for what had happened to them and treasured the friendship between us. I would like to do everything in my power to help the children there. At the same time, I learned to be grateful for all that I had. It was a profound time in my young life that I will never forget. It was Mom who taught me the valuable lesson that summer. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$第一节听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的ABC3个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题,每段对话仅读一遍。Text one, okay, so I think that's everything.
