Shani Pandya from Gujarat, India, offers precisely this with his innovative “solar trees”. These wonders are not your typical solar panels that demand lots of space; instead, they spread vertically (垂直地), much like real trees. Standing tall and elegant, each “solar tree” can host up to 45 solar panels, with an ability to power six Indian homes in a day! Shani’s journey into solar innovation began in 2018 while working at Pandit Deendayal Energy University. Reflecting on his early days there, Shani shares, “A solar power plant was set up on six acres of land. The cost of land was more than 115 million dollars.” It was there that Shani realized the great challenge solar energy faced: large land requirement. “I knew there had to be a more efficient solution,” he adds. And the experience led him to finally create the “solar tree”: a striking innovation that maximizes energy production while minimizing land usage. Another Shani’s notable innovation is the solar tile (瓦片). With a 20-watt capacity per tile, 150 tiles can provide sufficient power for a typical household. These tiles can withstand weight and weather — perfect for rooftop installations — without sacrificing living areas. Moreover, they are crafted from single-use plastic waste. Shani proudly notes, “These eco-friendly tiles not only generate energy but also tackle our plastic waste issue. Each solar tile reduces 25,000 single-use plastic waste while offering energy benefits.” However, Shani’s journey to these innovations hasn’t been smooth. “In the initial phase, managing funds was difficult. I went through a tough time to secure a loan and my family had to suffer financially,” he recalls. Now, with over 150 “solar trees” already spreading across cities from Mumbai to Jammu, Shani is leading an exciting movement toward redefining urban energy landscapes. 24. Why did Shani Pandya invent the “solar trees”? A. To cut down the cost of solar panels. B. To create a stable source of green energy. C. To compete with other solar energy companies. D. To reduce solar energy’s reliance on vast space. 25. What is unique about Shani’s solar tiles? A. They are cheaper than traditional roof tiles. B. They can generate energy without sunlight. C. They are made from recycled plastic waste. D. They can be installed both indoors and outdoors. 26. What got in the way of Shani’s innovation journey? A. Difficulty in securing funds. B. Lack of suitable testing materials. C. Insufficient sunlight in his region. D. Limited access to solar technology. 27. Which of the following can best describe Shani? A. Adventurous and creative. B. Responsible and sensitive. C. Intelligent and cautious. D. Determined and generous. D 25. C 26. A 27. 由文章第四段“It was there that Shani realized the great challenge solar energy faced: large land requirement. “I knew there had to be a more efficient solution,” he adds. And the experience led him to finally create the “solar tree”: a striking innovation that maximizes energy production while minimizing land usage. (正是在那里,Shani意识到了太阳能面临的一大挑战:土地需求量大。“我知道肯定有更高效的解决方案,”他补充道。而这段经历最终促使他创造了“太阳能树”:这一引人注目的创新在最大化能源生产的同时,最小化了土地使用)”可知,Shani Pandya发明“太阳能树”是为了减少太阳能对大片土地的依赖。故选D。 【25题详解】 细节理解题。由文章第五段中“Moreover, they are crafted from single-use plastic waste. (此外,它们还是由一次性塑料废物制成的)”可知,Shani的太阳能瓦片的独特之处在于它们是由回收的塑料垃圾制成的。故选C。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。由文章第六段“However, Shani’s journey to these innovations hasn’t been smooth. “In the initial phase, managing funds was difficult. I went through a tough time to secure a loan and my family had to suffer financially,” he recalls. (然而,Shani的创新之路并不平坦。“在初期阶段,管理资金很困难。我为了获得贷款经历了一段艰难时期,我的家庭也因此遭受了经济上的困难,”他回忆道)”可知,Shani的创新之旅的阻碍是资金困难。故选A。 由文章第五段中“Moreover, they are crafted from single-use plastic waste. (此外,它们还是由一次性塑料废物制成的)”、第六段“However, Shani’s journey to these innovations hasn’t been smooth. “In the initial phase, managing funds was difficult. I went through a tough time to secure a loan and my family had to suffer financially,” he recalls. (然而,Shani的创新之路并不平坦。“在初期阶段,管理资金很困难。我为了获得贷款经历了一段艰难时期,我的家庭也因此遭受了经济上的困难,”他回忆道)”、最后一段“Now, with over 150 “solar trees” already spreading across cities from Mumbai to Jammu, Shani is leading an exciting movement toward redefining urban energy landscapes. (如今,已经有超过150棵“太阳能树”从孟买到查谟等城市广泛分布,沙尼正引领着一场激动人心的运动,重新定义城市能源格局)”可知,Shani是一个有冒险且富有创造力的人,尽管面临困难但他仍坚持创新并取得了显著成果。故选A。 C In 2009, Sweden made a move by replacing textbooks with computers, which made Sweden become one of the first nations in the world to adopt modern ed-tech learning methods, inspiring others to follow suit. Now Sweden is exploring ways to reintroduce traditional methods of studying into its educational system. The initial move, taken to boost tech education in the country’s schools, did not materialize as policymakers had predicted. Experts noted that modern, experiential learning methods led to a significant decline in students’ essential skills, such as reading and writing. This development motivated Sweden to remodel the education system into a mixture of traditional learning and advanced digital tools. Falling back on printed textbooks is part of the larger overall change introduced by Swedish government. And the government is expected to invest €104 million to provide every student with paper textbooks for each subject by 2025. These claims are supported by a study conducted by the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare, which found that modern educational tools are hindering children’s ability to focus and process complex information. Additionally, the research found that digital devices cause distractions among students, further complicating the problem. This is because the majority of kids use their electronic products, such as computers or tablets, for gaming and other Internet-related purposes. Most teachers and parents complain that their kids have increasingly started relying on these devices instead of engaging in classrooms. “We will be falling back on printed textbooks. Of course, our latest move is not aimed at completely distancing itself from digital tools, but rather to find the right approach to include both modern and classic learning methods to support children’s needs. This move is about finding a balance,” remarked one of the Swedish officers. Sweden would continue to view digital support as an excellent way to diversify teaching methods and use it more after careful examination. 28. What was the initial reason for Sweden to adopt modern ed-tech learning methods? A. To improve students’ learning skills. B. To inspire students to use digital tools. C. To reduce the cost of paper textbooks. D. To promote tech education in schools. 29. Which of the following can replace the underlined word “hindering” in paragraph 3? A. Trialing. B. Blocking. C. Evaluating. D. Distinguishing. 30. What does the author imply in the last paragraph? A. Students should apply more printed textbooks. B. Schools should produce more suitable digital tools. C. Digital tools cannot fully replace printed textbooks. D. Teaching methods with digital support can’t be ignored. 31. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Education Based on Tech Tools. B. Bring Tech Tools to Traditional Classrooms. C. Balance Tech and Traditional Learning. D. The First Country to Use Tech for Teaching. D 29. B 30. C 31. 由文章第二段中“The initial move, taken to boost tech education in the country’s schools, did not materialize as policymakers had predicted. (当初这一旨在加强学校技术教育的举措并未如政策制定者所预料的那样取得成效。)”可知,瑞典最初采用现代教育科技学习方法的初衷是为了推动学校的技术教育。故选D。 【29题详解】 词句猜测题。由文章第三段中“These claims are supported by a study conducted by the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare, which found that modern educational tools are hindering children’s ability to focus and process complex information. Additionally, the research found that digital devices cause distractions among students, further complicating the problem. 由文章最后一段““We will be falling back on printed textbooks. 通读全文,尤其是由文章第二段中“Now Sweden is exploring ways to reintroduce traditional methods of studying into its educational system. The initial move, taken to boost tech education in the country’s schools, did not materialize as policymakers had predicted.(如今,瑞典正在探索将传统学习方法重新引入其教育体系的方式。当初这一旨在加强学校技术教育的举措并未如政策制定者所预料的那样取得成效。)”、最后一段““We will be falling back on printed textbooks. C。 D A couple of years ago, Robert Wolfe was experimenting with an AI system. He wanted it to complete the sentence, “The teenager _________ at school.” Wolfe, a doctoral student of the University of Washington (UW) in the Information School, had expected something ordinary, something that most teens do regularly — perhaps “studied”. But the model typed in “died”. This shocking response led Wolfe and a UW team to study how AI systems portray (描绘) teens. The researchers looked at two common AI systems, one trained in English and the other in Nepali. They wanted to compare models trained on data from different cultures. In the English-language system, about 30% of the responses referred to societal problems such as violence and mental illness. The Nepali system produced fewer negative associations in response, closer to 10% of all answers. To compare the AI outputs to the lives of actual teens, researchers studied 13 American and 18 Nepalese teens for workshops. They asked the participants to write words that came to mind about teenagers, to rate 20 words on how well they describe teens and to complete the prompts (提示) given to the AI models. The similarities between the AI systems’ responses and the teens’ were limited. Neither group felt that an AI system trained on media data would accurately represent teens in their cultures. “We found that the ways teens viewed themselves and the ways the systems often portrayed them were completely unrelated,” said Wolfe. “For instance, the ways teens continued the prompts we gave AI models were incredibly ordinary. They talked about hobbies and being with their friends, whereas the models brought up things like committing crimes.” The researchers concluded that the systems’ inaccurate portrayal of teens came in part from the abundance of negative media coverage about teens; in some cases, the models cited media as the source of their outputs. News stories are seen as “high-quality” training data, because they’ re often factual, but they frequently focus on negative stories, not the day-to-day parts of most teens’ lives. 32. How did the Nepali AI system differ from the English-language system? A. It focused more on mental health issues. B. It accurately reflected teenagers’ daily lives. C. It relied on news stories as its primary training data. D. It generated fewer negative associations about teens. 33. What is the surveyed teens’ attitude to the AI systems’ responses? A. Unfavourable. B. Concerned. C. Objective. D. Tolerant. 34. What has partly led to AI systems’ negative portrayals of teens? A. Absence of cultural diversity in training data. B. Media’s emphasis on dramatic or negative stories. C. Ignorance of teens’ self-reported information. D. AI systems’ inability to understand human emotions. 35. Which of the following might improve AI training? A. Instructing AI to avoid any negative topics. B. Combining data from multiple AI systems. C. Developing stricter regulations for AI development. D. Encouraging teens to share their daily experiences. D 33. A 34. B 35. 根据第三段“In the English-language system, about 30% of the responses referred to societal problems such as violence and mental illness. The Nepali system produced fewer negative associations in response, closer to 10% of all answers.(在英语系统中,大约30%的回答涉及暴力和精神疾病等社会问题。尼泊尔的系统在回答中产生的负面联想较少,接近所有答案的10%)”可知,尼泊尔语人工智能系统与英语语言系统的不同在于它对青少年产生的负面联想更少,故选D。 【33题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段最后两句“The similarities between the AI systems’ responses and the teens’ were limited. Neither group felt that an AI system trained on media data would accurately represent teens in their cultures.(人工智能系统的反应与青少年之间的相似之处有限。两组人都认为,接受媒体数据训练的人工智能系统不能准确地代表他们文化中的青少年)”可推知,被调查的青少年对AI系统的回复持不赞成的态度,故选A。 【34题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段第一句“The researchers concluded that the systems’ inaccurate portrayal of teens came in part from the abundance of negative media coverage about teens; in some cases, the models cited media as the source of their outputs.(研究人员得出结论,该系统对青少年的不准确描述部分来自于媒体对青少年的大量负面报道;在某些情况下,这些模型引用媒体作为其产出的来源)”可知,媒体对戏剧性或负面故事的强调导致了人工智能系统对青少年的负面描绘,故选B。 根据全文内容,结合最后一段中“News stories are seen as ‘high-quality’ training data, because they’re often factual, but they frequently focus on negative stories, not the day-to-day parts of most teens’ lives.(新闻报道被视为‘高质量’的训练数据,因为它们通常是事实,但它们经常关注负面故事,而不是大多数青少年生活的日常部分)”可知,文章主要介绍了AI系统对青少年的描述偏负面的情况,部分原因是训练数据过度依赖新闻报道,而这些报道过多关注青少年的负面事件。 Performing in front of an audience can be scary. They climbed trees, raced toy cars, and sometimes even built the tallest block towers. But this day was special. It was almost Father’s Day! "Hey, guys! We need to do something super special for our daddies!" exclaimed Max, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Like what?" asked Leo, scratching his head. Leo had a big head of curly hair that bounced when he thought. "We should make them a present — something with our own hands!" Max said, waving his arms in the air. "What about a card? A super-duper thank-you card! We can fill it with love!" Sam cheered. And just like that, the boys decided to create the most magical Father’s Day card ever! The next day, the boys gathered in Max's backyard. The sun was shining, the flowers were blooming, and butterflies danced in the air like little fairies. Carefully, they prepared colored paper, markers, glitter, and lots of stickers. The boys spread out all their supplies on the grass. Max started drawing a big, funny face on the front of the card. "Let me add mustaches!" laughed Leo, drawing thick, curly mustaches all over the big face. "And I'll put stickers everywhere!" Sam squealed, sticking shiny stars, hearts, and smiley faces all around. The little guys also decided to write special messages on it to express their love. "Now we need to add something magical. How about we make it sing?" Max said, revealing a tiny music box he found in his toy chest. They carefully opened the card and placed the music box inside. When the card opened, it would play a cheerful tune! With laughter and joy, they finished decorating the card, and it looked bright and magical, just like their daddies. On Father’s Day morning, the boys were bubbling (洋溢) with excitement. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The boys sat together in Max’s backyard, watching their daddies enjoying their magic cards. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文: On Father’s Day morning, the boys were bubbling (洋溢) with excitement. When Sam’s dad opened the card, the music played, and he laughed, lifting Sam up for a big daddy hug. Max’s dad opened it, and the tune floated through the air. "Wow! Best gift ever!" he yelled. B Imagine a world where lack of space no longer limits our energy possibilities, and with just a small piece of land, households can generate clean energy for decades! C Insufficient sunlight in his region. D. Limited access to solar technology. 27. Which of the following can best describe Shani? A. Adventurous and creative. B. Responsible and sensitive. C. Intelligent and cautious. D. Determined and generous. C In 2009, Sweden made a move by replacing textbooks with computers, which made Sweden become one of the first nations in the world to adopt modern ed-tech learning methods, inspiring others to follow suit. C Digital tools cannot fully replace printed textbooks. D A couple of years ago, Robert Wolfe was experimenting with an AI system. C It relied on news stories as its primary training data. Performing in front of an audience can be scary. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$听力部分,该部分分为第一第二两节。 Hello, international friends club, can I help you?
