Why Should School Breaks Be Longer?
There are a lot of advantages of longer school breaks for students. First, longer breaks are good for students’ health. They have more time to go outside, breathe fresh air, and do physical activities, which helps them stay active and healthy. Second, longer breaks are also good for learning. After a good rest, students can focus better in class and feel more energetic.
In my opinion, longer breaks are a great way to balance study and relaxation. I feel happier and more productive when I have enough time to relax during the day.

Last year, a primary school in Jiangxi Province made a decision. It would no longer prepare meals in its own canteen (食堂). Instead, it would serve its students pre-made (预制的) food. The move quickly became a hot topic across the country. Many parents said that they were worried about food safety. Some of them even sent homemade meals to school at lunchtime every day.
The Ministry of Education warns against introducing pre-made meals to schools. That’s mainly because there are not yet any national standards for such food. The market for pre-made meals has been developing quickly over the past few years. In 2022, there were more than 60,000 related companies in China. And the number is still growing. By 2026, the market will have reached more than one trillion (万亿) yuan. What has made pre-made meals so popular? They have many advantages. They’re quick and convenient to prepare. They also have a long shelf life (保存期). However, parents’ worries are not without reason. Pre-made food may be acceptable every now and then, but few people eat it every day. Naturally, parents don’t want their children to do so, either.
In fact, pre-made meals are all prepared by central kitchens. They’re not necessarily unhealthy compared with freshly cooked food. The problem is how to make sure these companies follow all the hygiene (卫生) rules when they cook and store food. For now, the pre-made food industry still has a long way to go.
29.What’s the purpose of the first paragraph?
A.To ask a question. B.To lead to the main topic.
C.To draw a conclusion. D.To raise a problem.
30.Why is the Ministry of Education against pre-made meals?
A.Because pre-made meals are too expensive.
B.Because it thinks that pre-made food is not safe.
C.Because no national standards are set for pre-made food.
D.Because pre-made meals are not so healthy as homemade meals.
31.What do parents think of pre-made meals according to Paragraph 2?
A.Quick and convenient. B.Tasty and healthy.
C.Tasteless and unsafe. D.Worrying and unacceptable.
32.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.Not all the companies follow the hygiene rules.
B.Pre-made meals are as healthy as freshly cooked food.
C.Pre-made meals are all prepared in school kitchens.
D.The market of pre-made meals is a success.

The global success of China’s game “Black Myth: Wukong” has introduced the tale of Sun Wukong to people worldwide. But for Ghaffar Pourazar, a British-American living in California, this legendary character has been a part of his identity (身份). He has spent the past thirty years mastering Peking Opera, becoming an excellent foreign performer in this traditional Chinese art, and getting the nickname “Western Monkey King”.
His lifelong love for Peking Opera began by chance. In 1993, 32-year-old Pourazar attended a performance at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall and was immediately attracted. “I was crying,” he recalled. “I had a deep love for different art forms before, including acting, dancing, and movement. But at that moment, everything else faded away. I saw all these arts in Peking Opera.” With the help of the head of the Chinese troupe (剧团), Pourazar entered an opera school in Beijing. Just three months later, he left his life in Britain behind and moved to Beijing to train in the martial roles (武角) of the art.
Starting as an adult was not easy. “My classmates were all children,” he said. “As an adult without any basic skills, it is very hard for you to practice the movements.” Besides the physical demands, mastering the Chinese language was another challenge. “I was reciting the words and songs, whether I was eating, bathing, walking, or even dreaming,” Pourazar added. “Though it was painful, I enjoyed every moment,” he said.
Over the years, he has been introducing Peking Opera and Sun Wukong to international people, taking Chinese performers to perform in different countries. He has also been teaching courses in the US and bringing Peking Opera to Western learners. To better connect with Western learners, he has translated some classic plays such as “The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven” into English versions.
“I want to be a bridge between cultures,” he said, reflecting on his multicultural background.
37.What made Pourazar fall in love with Peking Opera?
A.His childhood love for different art forms. B.The great help from opera performers.
C.A great performance at a London theatre. D.His learning at an opera school in Beijing.
38.What does the underlined phrase “faded away” in Para 2 mean?

A.His physical conditions. B.His learning method.
C.His basic skills. D.His language ability.
40.Which part of the newspaper may the passage be taken from?
A.Travel Experience B.Sports Field
C.Interesting People D.Culture World

In Japan, throwing away rubbish is taken very seriously, and there are strict rules for sorting (分类) your rubbish.
Do you have a goal you want to achieve before your next birthday? Or by the end of the next five years, perhaps? We often hear about the importance of setting goals. We may think of these goals as the key to our happiness—achieve them and everything will be perfect. But have you ever reached a goal and instead of feeling happy, you've thought, “Is that it?” Or, “Now what?”
That feeling has a name. It’s called “arrival fallacy”—the illusion (错误的观念) that reaching our goals will bring us lasting happiness.
Whether it’s a new job, owning your dream home or anything else—there might be some initial (最初的) joy, but if you’re experiencing arrival fallacy, that may be followed by emptiness (空虚) and under stress to achieve something new.
So why does this happen? Surely achieving our goals is enough to make us happy? Not always. According to experts, we might be overestimating (高估) the happiness that such achievements will bring
And social scientist Adam Dorr says we often make the mistake of imagining our goal as a fixed object, when really it’s just part of life. But Ben Shahar adds that arrival fallacy doesn’t mean we shouldn’t set goals—in fact, we need them to help give our lives focus.
As well as large things, our goals should include many small things, like helping out more around the house or spending more time with family—small but important goals that don’t just “end”. If we really want to beat arrival fallacy, we also have to work out what makes us happy. And in surveys, spending quality time with people we care about is often number one for happiness.
Even if we do have clear career goals, experts remind us to think about enjoying the journey too—and not just the destination (目的地).
66.What is “arrival fallacy”?
67.How might someone feel after reaching a goal if they experience “arrival fallacy”?
68.Why do we have the feeling “arrival fallacy”?
69.What does social scientist Adam Dorr suggest about the nature of goals?
70.What will you do to beat “arrival fallacy”?

A.To ask a question. B.To lead to the main topic.

A.Not all the companies follow the hygiene rules.
B.Pre-made meals are as healthy as freshly cooked food.

A.disappeared gradually B.beat heavily
C.happened suddenly D.spread slowly
39.Which of the following is NOT the challenge Pourazar faced as a beginner?
A.His physical conditions. B.His learning method.
C.His basic skills. D.His language ability.
40.Which part of the newspaper may the passage be taken from?
A.Travel Experience B.Sports Field
C.Interesting People D.Culture World

In Japan, throwing away rubbish is taken very seriously, and there are strict rules for sorting (分类) your rubbish. People have to put waste in groups like cans, plastics and glass, and different kinds of rubbish 46 (collect) on different days each month. The rules can change depending on where you live.
In Oita city, 47 example, people have to put rubbish in designated (指定的) yellow rubbish bags and rubbish put in other bags won’t be collected. In Kamikatsu, 48 town in Shikoku, people living there have to sort rubbish into 45 types.
But in Fukushima city, the rules will get even 49 (strict). Starting from April 2025, city workers 50 (check) rubbish bags that break the rules, such as being too big or being sorted incorrectly. 51 the rules are broken, the name of the rubbish-owner might be made public. Unsorted rubbish bags are left uncollected, and workers put stickers on 52 (they) to let the owners know they need to sort the rubbish. The owner will get a warning at the 53 (one) time, but if they break the rules again, their name will be put on the city’s website.
In 2023, there were over 9,000 cases of rubbish not being sorted 54 (correct) in Fukushima. Unsorted rubbish attracts 55 (bird), which open the bags and take rubbish everywhere. 【答案】
46.are collected 47.for 48.a 49.stricter 50.will check 51.If 52.them 53.first 54.correctly 55.birds
故填are collected。
故填for。
故填a。
根据“But in Fukushima city ...”
故填will check。
根据“... the rules are broken, the name of the rubbish-owner might be made public.”可知,两个分句基本结构完整,“the rules are broken” 是 “the name of the rubbish-owner might be made public”的条件,所以用 if 引导条件状语从句,句首单词首字母大写。故填If。
on 是介词,介词后接宾格形式,they 的宾格是 them,指代 “Unsorted rubbish bags”。故填them。
根据“The owner will get a warning at the ... time, but if they break the rules again...” 故填first。

66.(It is) the illusion that reaching our goals will bring us lasting happiness. 67.(He/She might feel) empty and stressed (to achieve something new). 68.We might be overestimating the happiness that such achievements will bring. 69.It’s just part of life. 70.We can set small but important goals that don’t just “end”./We should enjoy the journey too—and not just the destination. (Any reasonable answer can be accepted))
66.根据“the illusion (错误的观念) that reaching our goals will bring us lasting happiness.” (It is) the illusion that reaching our goals will bring us lasting happiness.
67.根据“Whether it’s a new job, owning your dream home or anything else—there might be some initial (最初的) joy, but if you’re experiencing arrival fallacy, that may be followed by emptiness (空虚) and under stress to achieve something new.” (He/She might feel) empty and stressed (to achieve something new).
68.根据“According to experts, we might be overestimating (高估) the happiness that such achievements will bring”可知,是因为我们可能高估了这些成就将带来的快乐。故填We might be overestimating the happiness that such achievements will bring.
69.根据“And social scientist Adam Dorr says we often make the mistake of imagining our goal as a fixed object, when really it’s just part of life.” It’s just part of life.

Why Should School Breaks Be Longer?
There are a lot of advantages of longer school breaks for students. First, longer breaks are good for students’ health.
