听到“menu”“food”和“order”等词,可判断出对话发生在餐馆;听到“size”“wear”和“color”等词,可判断出对话发生在服装店;听到“stamp”“post”和“mail”等词,可判断出对话发生在邮局;听到“film”“movie”和“cinema”等词,可判断出对话发生在电影院;听到“What’s wrong with you?” “Nothing serious.”和“Take one pill each time.”
12
Where does this conversation probably happen?
A.At home.
B.In a hotel.
C.In a library.
13
Excuse me,sir,light bulbs,bathroom,get it repaired,Can I have your room number?
W:Excuse me,sir. One of my light bulbs is burnt out. It’s the one over the mirror in the bathroom.
M:OK,we’ll get it repaired soon. Can I have your room number?
15
16
Where did Michael go last year?
A.Russia. B.Norway. C.India.
17
在录音中对应的关键句是:“Last summer,I toured Russia for two weeks.” 录音中有个干扰句:“Last year, you went to Norway, right?”,但后面的回答中:“but not yet to Norway”将此句否定。
W:Hi,Michael! I heard you just came back from a holiday?
M:Yes.I stayed for a week in China and 5 days in India.
W:You do travel a lot,don’t you? Last year,you went to Norway,right?
M:Well,I’ve been to quite some countries, but not yet to Norway.Last summer,I toured Russia for two weeks.

M:On the contrary,④I have to thank you for reminding me of it.
(Text 5)
M:You’ll never guess I got a high mark in physics.
W:Congratulations!⑤Your hard work finally paid off, right?
(Text 6)
W:⑥The biggest mistake I made,uh...was leaving college in my last year and not completing my education. So,I’m thinking of going back to school.

W:⑦Ecology.I’m interested in the relationship between humans and nature.
M:Cool. Is it what you studied years ago?
W:No,I majored in chemistry then.
(Text 7)
W:I have no idea about how to finish the timetable.
M:You don’t have to be very creative.⑧It’s very standard and more or less the same every year. For instance, the sports day begins with throwing events.⑨All jumping events take place before lunch.
W:Why?
M:That’s because the school doesn’t want the athletes to jump after eating.⑨The jumping events take place after the throwing events. And the long-distance race takes place before jumping events.
W:And after lunch?
M:Actually, the school doesn’t want any events to take place in that time. But they can practice for the next event.
W:Do you mean the 100 m race?
M:Yes.⑩It seems to be the most exciting event,so it takes place at the end of the day, which is over around 5:00 p.m.

A
Unlike many other exchange students,my school focused on arts such as singing, acting, dancing, and many other talents,so there wasn’t much room for sports.Honestly,in the beginning,I was a little sad because I wanted to participate in basketball. However,I did not let that disappoint me.After a while,I took a pause for some self-reflection.I remembered how much I like to sing even though I don’t think I’m good at it.I then thought to myself,“Why not be the one to try acting?”
After my first week,I loved the school! My art classes feel like a break from reality and the scenery at my school makes me feel as though I am in some talent-based high school movies.Every morning,we are welcomed with the beautiful voices from my teachers. At lunch,we are entertained with musical performances by any student who wishes to sing.
During my second week of school,I was required to perform my first five-minute play with my class partner.I was a bit nervous, but I gathered courage and did it.By chance,a staff person from the school office saw my performance. After school,on my way to the bus,she called me and informed me she had recommended me and some other students to participate in an upcoming two-day workshop.I first thought she was teasing me.When I got home,I found out she’d also sent an email to my host mom.
My host mom is very busy, but she planned her schedule around the activity. My mom picked me up from school and drove me to the workshop which was an hour’s drive from my school. After the workshop,we were presented with tickets to watch the play the following day. After the show,I met with the actors, thanked and congratulated them.On our way home,I was smiling so much that my cheeks hurt.I appreciate my host family and school for giving me this experience.

B
I am thinking today about my new favorite thing. It’s an app that my husband told me a few years ago that helps me bypass all the obstacles (障碍) in my way:potholes, heavy traffic, and so on.
To be honest, when my husband first told me about it,I didn’t pay much attention. I was only going to places I already knew how to get to. Plus, I learned to drive from my father—who never turned to a map.I think I mistakenly absorbed the message that real drivers didn’t need a map;you somehow just magically knew where to go.It was only later that I realized that just getting a driver’s license didn’t mean you knew how to get to places—that was lesson one. Lesson two came when my kids started playing on two different travel teams. The drivers in our household suddenly had the need to head in different directions on the same day.
Suddenly my app became very meaningful to me.How did I ever manage to get to strange playing fields hidden somewhere without it? But the crazy thing I have also noticed is how often I just don’t listen to it. Why might that be? Do I just prefer the old routes, even if they are actually worse? I see an analogy (类比) to the present moment. There is evidence that some old ideas and some long familiar ideas will send us into a boring unchanging lifestyle. But for some reason we like them better than an unfamiliar new route that might take us into areas we’ve never heard of, let alone visited.
It can be hard to admit we don’t know everything. As a person who still drives an 8-year-old stick shift and who has never stood in line for anything new,I certainly understand that. But I also try to remember the times I let go of my ego (自负), or my fear, and learned that life could be better. Not perfect—but better. I am glad I finally listened to my husband about that app.He was right.
5.What did the author think of the app at the very beginning?
A.It was magical.
B.It was practically valueless.
C.It was powerful.
D.It was not as good as a map.
