根据文章“The British Museum in London was founded in 1753 and opened its doors six years later.”(伦敦的大英博物馆于1753年建立,并在六年后对外开放。) 根据第一段内“Whether you are a fine art or history lover, the following three museums are sure to take your breath away ”(无论你是美术爱好者还是历史爱好者,以下三个博物馆一定会让你大吃一惊)可知这三个博物馆都收藏有与美术和历史有关的作品。 根据文章“The second-largest art museum in the world, the State Hermitage Museum was founded in 1764”(世界第二大艺术博物馆,国家艾尔米塔什博物馆于1764年建立。) B。 B For Mother’s Day I asked for one thing: a house cleaning service. Bathrooms and floors specifically, windows if the extra expense was reasonable. The gift, for me, was not so much in the cleaning itself but the fact that for once I would not be in charge of the household office work. I would not have to make the calls, get multiple quotes (报价), research and compare each service, arrange payment and schedule the appointment. The real gift I wanted was to be relieved of the emotional labor of a single task that had been nagging (唠叨) at the back of my mind. The clean house would simply be a bonus. My husband waited for me to change my mind to an “easier” gift than housecleaning, something he could one-click order on Amazon. Disappointed by my unwavering desire, the day before Mother’s Day he called a single service, decided they were too expensive, and promised to clean the bathrooms himself. He still gave me the choice, of course. He told me the high dollar amount of completing the cleaning services I requested (since I control the budget) and asked repeatedly if I still wanted him to book it. What I wanted was for him to ask friends on Facebook for a recommendation, call four or five more services, do the emotional labor I would have done if the job had fallen to me. I had wanted to hire out deep cleaning for a while, especially since my freelance (自由职业的) work had picked up considerably. The reason I hadn’t done it yet was part guilt over not doing my housework, and an even larger part of not wanting to deal with the work of hiring a service. I knew exactly how exhausting it was going to be. That’s why I asked my husband to do it as a gift. But, I was gifted a necklace for Mother’s Day while my husband stole away to deep sweep the bathrooms, leaving me to tend to our children as the rest of the house fell into total mess... 4. Why did the author request a housecleaning service for Mother’s Day? A. To reduce her husband’s financial burden. B. To force her husband to do some housework. C. To experience a pricey service for a special occasion. D. To treat herself to a break from household chores. 5. What does the underlined word “unwavering” in the 2nd paragraph mean? A. humble. B. firm. C. noble. D. dynamic. 6. What did the author’s husband decide to do the day before Mother’s Day? A. He determined to clean the bathroom himself. B. He searched relevant information online. C. He arranged for the service as a gift. D. He purchased a necklace instead as an apology. 7. How did the author feel about her husband’s final solution? A. She felt completely satisfied with it. B. She was disappointed but tried to understand him. C. She was relieved to see her problem solved. D. She felt being ignored with her real needs. D 5. B 6. A 7. 根据文章第一段“The gift, for me, was not so much in the cleaning itself but the fact that for once I would not be in charge of the household office work. I would not have to make the calls, get multiple quotes (报价), research and compare each service, arrange payment and schedule the appointment. The real gift I wanted was to be relieved of the emotional labor of a single task that had been nagging (唠叨) at the back of my mind.(对我来说,礼物并不是打扫卫生本身,而是这一次我不用再负责家务了。 根据划线单词上文的“My husband waited for me to change my mind to an ‘easier’ gift than housecleaning(我丈夫等着我改变主意,选择比打扫房间更‘容易’的礼物)”和“Disappointed(失望的)”可推测,丈夫等着作者改变主意,但令他失望的是作者对房屋清扫服务的要求坚定不移,划线词unwavering为“坚定的”。 根据第二段中“the day before Mother’s Day he called a single service, decided they were too expensive, and promised to clean the bathrooms himself.(在母亲节的前一天,他打电话给一家服务公司,认为他们太贵了,并承诺自己打扫浴室)”可知,在母亲节前一天作者的丈夫决定自己打扫浴室,故选A。 根据文章第一段“The real gift I wanted was to be relieved of the emotional labor of a single task that had been nagging (唠叨) at the back of my mind. The clean house would simply be a bonus.(我真正想要的礼物,是摆脱脑中那个老是纠缠着我的情绪劳动。打扫干净的房子只是额外的奖励)”可知,作者真正想要的礼物是从繁琐的家务中解脱出来,而根据文章最后一段“But, I was gifted a necklace for Mother’s Day while my husband stole away to deep sweep the bathrooms, leaving me to tend to our children as the rest of the house fell into total mess...(但是,当我丈夫偷偷地去彻底打扫浴室时,我收到了母亲节的礼物一条项链,留下我照顾我们的孩子,而房子的其他地方则陷入了一团糟……)” D。 C A new report connects eating eggs to an increased risk of heart disease. The results follow several earlier studies that found eating eggs was generally healthy. The study collects data from six other earlier studies. It shows a 6 percent increased risk of heart disease when the number of eggs a person ate each day increased by half an egg. Norrina Allen, an associate professor at Northwestern University said that, in the United States, eggs are generally one of the top sources of cholesterol (胆固醇) in a person’s daily food. People with higher levels of cholesterol in their food are at increased risk of the development of heart disease later in life. However, Allen added that she would not say that eggs are completely unhealthy. “I’m not saying that people should take them completely out of their food,” she said. “I’m just suggesting that people eat them in a proper amount.” Some experts believe the new study does not prove that eggs are causing heart disease. “Cholesterol’s role in the development of heart disease has been discussed for more than 30 years,” said Dennis Bruemmer, an associate professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. “This study does have clear shortcomings, including self-reporting at a single time point,” he added. Bruemmer said, “Eggs in moderation (适度) are probably acceptable from a nutritional standpoint.” “Moderation,” he added, “is less than one egg a day, including eggs in foods such as bread.” Holly Andersen, a doctor at the New York-Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center, agrees that the study has “real shortcomings”. One problem Andersen has with the study is that a lot of the egg-eating people in the study also appeared to be eating much meat and processed meat. “If you’re taking a lot of processed meat, it doesn’t matter how many eggs you’re eating,” Andersen said. Also, Andersen said, “The study can only show there is a relation between eggs eating and heart disease. But it cannot prove eggs are the cause of the disease. It may just be that people eating a lot of eggs are also taking a lot of bacon.” 8. What does Norrina Allen agree with? A. Eggs are completely unhealthy. B. Eggs contain the most cholesterol. C. Eggs should be eaten in a right amount. D. Eggs have no connection with heart disease. 9. What is Bruemmer’s attitude towards the study? A. Interested. B. Doubtful. C. Indifferent. D. Hopeful. 10. What can we learn from Holly Andersen’s words? A. Eggs and meat cannot be eaten together. B. Processed meat may cause heart disease. C. Processed meat should be avoided. D. The study is supported by evidence. 11. What’s the best title for the text? A. Do Eggs Cause Heart Disease? B. Are Eggs the Top Source of Cholesterol? C. What’s the Proper Amount of Eggs Eaten? D. Is the Cholesterol to Blame for Heart Disease? C 9. B 10. B 11. 根据文章第2段“I’m just suggesting that people eat them in a proper amount.(我只是建议人们适量食用鸡蛋)”可知,Norrina Allen认为鸡蛋应该适量食用。 根据文章第3段“This study does have clear shortcomings, including self-reporting at a single time point,(这项研究确实有明显的缺点,包括在单一时间点的自我报告)”可推知,Bruemmer对这项研究持怀疑态度。 根据文章第5段“Holly Andersen, a doctor at the New York-Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center, agrees that the study has “real shortcomings”. One problem Andersen has with the study is that a lot of the egg-eating people in the study also appeared to be eating much meat and processed meat.If you’re taking a lot of processed meat, it doesn’t matter how many eggs you’re eating,(纽约长老会/威尔·康奈尔医学中心的医生霍莉·安德森(Holly Andersen)同意这项研究具有“真正的缺点”。 A。 D This is going to sound weird, but I want you to look closely for a moment at your thumbs. See how they bend flexibly forwards as well as back. The human thumb is not just a device for giving the thumbs-up sign or for picking up dropped keys. It is also one of the most efficient and sensitive tools in existence for determining the ripeness of fruit. However, most of us don’t use them that way anymore. One of the most striking things about eating in the modern world is that we act as if we were sense-blind. Our noses can distinguish fresh milk from sour milk, and yet we prefer to look at the use-by date rather than sniffing. Senses, wrote the late anthropologist Jack Goody, are “our windows on the world” —the main tools through which humans acquire information about our environments. But today, we have yielded many of the functions of our own senses to the modern food industry — which suits that industry just fine. A survey of 7,000 young people in 2011 found that most of them would be hypothetically (假设地) prepared to give up their sense of smell if it meant that they could keep their laptop or phone. In reality, it is not easy to live without a sense of smell. According to the survey data produced by Fifth Sense, more than half of the respondents having smell loss said that cooking had become a source of stress and anxiety because they could no longer experience the joy of trying new recipes, and could not easily tell when something was burned, which even increases feelings of loneliness and depression and leads to the breakdown of relationships. No human activity is more multi-sensory than eating, but to eat in the modern world is often to eat in a state of profound sensory disengagement. We order groceries on a computer, or takeaways on a phone, and they arrive wrapped in plastic, so that we can neither smell them nor see them before we take the first mouthful. 12. In which way we mostly don’t use our thumbs according to the author? A. Squeeze a fig. B. Push a button. C. Hold a fork. D. Pick a key. 13. Why does the author mention the survey in 2011? A. To show the addiction to the Internet. B. To focus on the senseless young people. C. To highlight the ignorance about senses. D. To introduce a popular and modern lifestyle. 14. What does the paragraph 4 mainly talk about? A. Daily troubles of sense loss. B. An uneasy world without senses. C. Mental concerns about sense loss. D. The robbed pleasure of cooking food. 15. What makes people lose sensory connection with food? A. A fast-paced modern lifestyle. B. Lessening interests about food. C. The development of computers. D. The convenient packaging technology. A 13. C 14. C 15. 根据第一段中“It is also one of the most efficient and sensitive tools in existence for determining the ripeness of fruit. (它也是目前确定水果成熟度的最有效和最灵敏的工具之一。)”和第二段中“However, most of us don’t use them that way anymore. (然而,我们大多数人不再那样使用它们了。)”可知,拇指可以用来确定水果成熟度,但是现在我们大多数人不再那样使用它们了,所以我们不常用拇指捏无花果来判断成熟度,故选A。 【13题详解】 推理判断题。第三段首句“But today, we have yielded many of the functions of our own senses to the modern food industry — which suits that industry just fine. (但今天,我们已经将感官的许多功能让渡给了现代食品工业——这正好适合这个行业)。”提到,今天我们已经将感官的许多功能让渡给了现代食品工业,下文“A survey of 7,000 young people in 2011 found that most of them would be hypothetically (假设地) prepared to give up their sense of smell if it meant that they could keep their laptop or phone. (2011年,一项针对7000名年轻人的调查发现,如果能保留笔记本电脑或手机,他们中的大多数人都愿意放弃自己的嗅觉。)”提及一项调查证明上述观点,强调今天人们对感官的忽视,故选C。 【14题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第四段内容,尤其是首句“In reality, it is not easy to live without a sense of smell.(在现实生活中,没有嗅觉是很不容易的)”和“ more than half of the respondents having smell loss said that cooking had become a source of stress and anxiety because they could no longer experience the joy of trying new recipes...(超过一半的嗅觉丧失的受访者表示,烹饪已经成为压力和焦虑的来源,因为他们再也无法体验到尝试新食谱的乐趣)”可知,本段主要讲述丧失嗅觉带来的一些心理负担,故选C。 根据最后一段中“No human activity is more multi-sensory than eating, but to eat in the modern world is often to eat in a state of profound sensory disengagement. We order groceries on a computer, or takeaways on a phone, and they arrive wrapped in plastic, so that we can neither smell them nor see them before we take the first mouthful. Self-disciplined people are not all outstanding people. ___16___ Some of them read every day. Some of them never run late. The real difference between an elite (杰出的) person and an ordinary person is that an elite person can manage his or her time well. ___17___ What people call self-discipline is in fact self-management. One example is staying fit. Never underestimate (低估) someone who is in good shape. Anyone who has ever tried to lose weight knows that it’s not easy. ___18___. If someone is in good shape, it shows that he knows the principles of staying fit and is able to stick to a plan that uses these principles. If someone is in good shape, it means that this person is good at managing themselves and their time. ___19___ It also shows that this person is able to keep persevering (坚持) and can balance long-term goals with short-term goals. So if someone is in good shape, he or she is more than just health. ___20___ First of all, set a goal and write down your reasons for wanting to achieve it. Create a list of all the things you need to do to achieve this goal and start to work on them one at a time. With self-discipline, small things in life will no longer trouble you. Only through self-discipline can you truly own your future. A. How do you learn self-management? B. That’s where their success comes from. C. It’s even harder to avoid putting weight back on. D. Whether it is natural or acquired, it is a great skill. E. This skill gives you the power to stick to your decisions. F. But nearly all outstanding people are self-disciplined people. G. Self-discipline means self control, which is a sign of inner strength. F 17. B 18. C 19. D 20. 【16题详解】 上文“Self-disciplined people are not all outstanding people.(自律的人并不都是优秀的人)”指出自律并不能保证成为优秀的人,F项“But nearly all outstanding people are self-disciplined people.(但几乎所有优秀的人都是自律的人)”承接上文,揭示自律与成为优秀的人的真正关系,进而引出下文关于自律重要性的探讨,句中“all outstanding people”对应下文中代词“them”。 【17题详解】 上文“The real difference between an elite (杰出的) person and an ordinary person is that an elite person can manage his or her time well.(精英人士和普通人的真正区别在于,精英人士能很好地管理自己的时间)”提到精英能很好地管理自己的时间,B项“That’s where their success comes from.(这就是他们成功的来源)”承接上文,说明“manage his or her time well”的意义,上下文语意连贯。故选B项。 【18题详解】 上文“Anyone who has ever tried to lose weight knows that it’s not easy.(任何曾经尝试过减肥的人都知道这并不容易)”说明减肥不易,C项“It’s even harder to avoid putting weight back on.(要避免体重反弹就更难了)”承接上文话题,说明避免体重反弹更难,句中“even harder”表明上下文之间的递进关系,同时,这两句话与前文“Never underestimate (低估) someone who is in good shape.(永远不要低估身材好的人)”构成因果关系,说明不要低估身材好的人的原因。故选C项。 【19题详解】 上文“If someone is in good shape, it means that this person is good at managing themselves and their time.(如果一个人状态很好,这意味着这个人善于管理自己和自己的时间)”提出“管理自己和自己的时间”的能力,D项“Whether it is natural or acquired, it is a great skill.(无论是天生的还是后天习得的,这都是一项伟大的技能。)”承接上文,对此作出评价,句中代词“it”指代上文中“good at managing themselves and their time”,上下文语意连贯。故选D项。 【20题详解】 根据后文“First of all, set a goal and write down your reasons for wanting to achieve it. Create a list of all the things you need to do to achieve this goal and start to work on them one at a time. With self-discipline, small things in life will no longer trouble you. Only through self-discipline can you truly own your future.(首先,设定一个目标,并写下你想要实现它的原因。为实现这个目标,列出你需要做的所有事情,然后一次做一件。有了自律,生活中的小事情将不再困扰你。只有通过自律,你才能真正拥有自己的未来)”可知,本段的主旨是如何进行自我管理,故A选项“How do you learn self-management?(你如何学会自我管理?)”可以作为段首主题句。故选A项。 As a journalist, I was so excited to cover a new adventure to Qomolangma. From high-end modeling shoots to heartwarming sibling photos and lovely birth announcements, we cover it all. Our studio is always busy, and as is stated on our website, we don’t accept walk-ins. With bookings scheduled six months in advance, it’s non-stop. One evening, just ten minutes before closing, a mother walked in with a young girl, around six or seven years old, following her. I felt quite annoyed — I really needed to close up. The mother said, “Hello. I know you’re closing soon, but I have a special favor to ask.” At that moment, the little girl peeked out from behind her mother’s legs, her eyes scanning nervously around the room. She glanced at the beautiful portraits of healthy, smiling children hanging on the walls, and the expression on her face was a mix of longing and self-consciousness. She seemed to know she didn’t look like the other kids in the photos. Under her thick winter coat and hat, she looked weak, with dark circles under her eyes. She had no hair, and a tube was taped to her cheek, feeding into her nose. It was clear she was very ill. The mother continued, her voice shaking, “My daughter saw one of your photos at the hospital. She used to be such a beautiful and lovely girl as those in your photos hanging on the walls, but she doesn’t look her best right now... Sir, I know you’re booked up, and the next appointment is months away, but I don’t know...” She started to cry. I realized that waiting for months was not a bet for this little girl. Seeing she held her mother’s hand tightly, I felt my heart soften. I took a deep breath and smiled gently at the little girl, making up my mind to do something. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The little girl looked at the photos with a bright smile. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 I took a deep breath and smiled gently at the little girl, making up my mind to do something. I told the mother not to worry and that I’d take pictures for her daughter right away. I quickly adjusted the lighting in the studio and chose a soft-colored backdrop. I fetched a beautiful princess-style dress and helped the little girl put it on. As she stood in front of the camera, I encouraged her to imagine herself as a fearless princess. Slowly, her nervousness faded away, and she began to pose with confidence, her eyes shining with a newfound light. The mother watched with a grateful smile on her face. The little girl looked at the photos with a bright smile. “I’m so pretty!” she exclaimed happily. The mother came over, tears of joy in her eyes. She thanked me repeatedly, saying these photos would be the most precious memory for her daughter. A few months later, I received a letter from the mother. It said the girl’s condition had improved significantly. In the end, I printed the best photo and sent it to them, hoping it would always bring the little girl strength and hope. 词汇激活 行为类 ①拍照:take pictures/take photos ②逐渐消失:fade away/disappear gradually ③呼喊;惊叫:exclaim/shout/cry out 情绪类 ①感激的:grateful/thankful/appreciative ②高兴地:happily/joyfully/cheerfully 【点睛】【高分句型1】As she stood in front of the camera, I encouraged her to imagine herself as a fearless princess.(使用了as引导时间状语从句) 【高分句型2】She thanked me repeatedly, saying these photos would be the most precious memory for her daughter.(使用了现在分词saying 作状语和省略连接词that的宾语从句作saying的宾语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 丰城九中2024-2025学年下学期高二第一次段考英语试卷 考试时间:120分钟,试卷总分:150分 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 1.What do we learn about the man? B For Mother’s Day I asked for one thing: a house cleaning service. C A new report connects eating eggs to an increased risk of heart disease. D This is going to sound weird, but I want you to look closely for a moment at your thumbs. 12. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
