Escaping the city and getting back to nature is a good way to relax and refresh —there is nothing quite like sleeping in a treehouse. These new treehouses range from cosy to luxurious. Besides the well-known Bower Treehouse, we’ve found a few others in the UK.
Gwdy Hw, Wales
In the heart of the Welsh mountains, Gwdy Hw has six treehouses designed with the surrounding woodland in mind, so much so that they melt smoothly into the valley’s treeline. Each cosy treehouse features a wood-burning stove, a double bed, and a toilet. The only thing missing is electricity, so you can avoid using your digital devices like cellphones and ipads and exchange electric lights for twinkling lanterns while reading comfortably under blankets.
Netherby Estate, Cumbria
Set in the grounds of the Netherby Estate, with views of the Scottish border, this cabin-like outpost (前哨基地) has been built among ancient oak trees. That makes it feel a little more well- built than other treehouses, but it’s a cosy nest, just the same, and is filled with home comforts. Kids will love the mezzanine level (夹层), accessed by a ladder, while adults will enjoy the outdoor hot bath.
Treetops at the Fox & Hounds Country Hotel, Devon
If you only saw the inside of this luxury space, you’d have trouble believing it was actually supported on stilts (桩子) and built around a tree. There’s a free-standing bathtub, for starters, as well as a living room with a sofa, a king-size bedroom and amazing wooden inner parts throughout. A private terrace (露台) overlooks the fishing lake, providing a true escape into nature.
21. If you want to take a break from social media, which treehouse should you consider?
A. Gwdy Hw, Wales.
B. Netherby Estate, Cumbria.
C. Bower Treehouse.
D. Treetops at the Fox & Hounds Country Hotel, Devon.
22. Netherby Estate, Cumbria is a great place for you to ________.
A. lie in bed counting stars B. cook food for your family
C. have fun fishing with your friends D. enjoy the sight of ancient oak trees
23. Where is the text probably taken from?
A. A research paper. B. A travel brochure.
C. A novel. D. A fashion magazine.

An impression-or possibly a fear is that the percentage of 25 to 34-year-olds still living with their parents has increased by more than a third in nearly two decades according to the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS).
In 2006, some 13% of people in the UK aged between 25 and 34 were living with their parents. By last year, that had increased to 18%. That equates to about 450,000 more young adults still living in their parents' home. The increase was concentrated on those in their late 20s, researchers found. High renting costs and rising house prices were the most significant reasons for the change.
Of 25 to 34-year-olds, men were more likely than women to be living at home. That was 23% compared with 15%. This age group had changed over recent decades. They had become less likely to be married and have children. They were also more ethnically diverse. UK-born young people from Bangladeshi and Indian backgrounds are more likely to live with parents.
Now, in more normal times, parents may hope their grown-up children would fly the nest. However, many of the 20s would wish they could afford to do so. Rising rents and house prices fuelled the trend. Danny McGuire, 33 , lives with his parents in Warrington, Cheshire. He wanted to live independently. But he had found himself with a very small amount of money left each month. He needed to save for a house. Prices were rising. Saving enough on his own was difficult. “ Eventually you' ve got to make a real hard decision , actually, do I save for longer or do I move back?" he said. Some of his friends had been given money by their parents towards a deposit. But Danny said his family was unable to help him financially. Instead, they offered a place to stay so he could save up.
28. What were the most important reasons for more 25 - 34-year-olds living with their parents?
A. High renting costs and rising house prices.
B. A desire to stay with family.
C. Fewer job opportunities.
D. An increase in ethnic diversity.
29. Who is more likely to live with their parents among 25 to 34-year-olds?
A. People with children. B. Men. C. Married couples. D. Women.
30. What can we infer about Danny McGuire's situation?
A. He prefers living at home over living independently.
B. He received financial help from his parents to buy a house.
C. He moved back home to save money for a house.
D. He thinks saving for a house is easy despite high prices.
31. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Young people's housing issues in the UK.
B. A growing number of young people in the UK live with parents.
C. The trend of UK young adults' family life.
D. The economic pressure on young people in the UK. D
The Notre Dame(巴黎圣母院) fire has been put out, but its spire (尖顶) and a large portion of its wooden roof have been damaged. The terrible destruction causes a sudden sharp pain to people around the world. "What a pity that we cannot see the damaged parts of the wonder anymore."
But the good news is that there is at least one way of seeing them through a video game called Assassin's Creed: Unity. In this game, the player can travel to one city after another and enter the buildings exactly like what they are in reality, and see Notre Dame as it was before the fire. Further, with virtual(虚拟的) reality technology, which is already quite mature, one can even look around the undamaged Notre Dame as if it is still there. Maybe digital technology could help to better protect architectural cultural heritage.
The idea of making digital(数字的,数码的) models of ancient buildings to save their data dates back to the 1990s and the necessary technology has continued to advance since then. By scanning the ancient buildings with lasers, building 3D models with multiple images, as well as measuring everything precisely, engineers can make a copy as accurate as the real one.
As computers and smartphones are hugely popular, the digital model has great useful value. First, it allows tourists to feel the cultural relics without touching them. The virtual tour of Dunhuang Grottoes in Gansu Province is a good example of this as tourists can view the paintings without standing near them. Furthermore, it can make the digitized cultural relics more famous by spreading awareness about them via the Internet. In 2000, a virtual tour of the Great Wall became very popular at the Hannover World Expo, which increased the number of foreign tourists visiting the site in the following years. Above all, it preserves all the information of the cultural relics.
Of course, however precise a model is, it is not the original. Maybe we will have better technologies in the future, but the digital technology offers a practical way to preserve architectural cultural heritage at the moment.
32.What can we see about Notre Dame in the game?
A. The damaged Notre Dame. B. Its wooden shape.
C. The big fire. D. Its original look.
33.What will engineers do to create a digital copy of the ancient buildings?
A. Build 3D models of full size. B. Scan the photos of the buildings
C. Measure all the parts exactly. D. Improve the technology needed.
34. How does the author prove the digital copy has vital practical importance?
A. By giving examples. B. By classification.
C. By comparison. D. By listing data.
35.What is the author's attitude towards the application of the technology?
A. Delighted B. Supportive
C. Doubtful D. uncertain

第二节 读后续写 (满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
This was the third time we had moved in the last four years. I became more and more depressed because I was always the new kid in class, the one who didn’t know what chapter(章节) we were working on or what project was due next week. I was always trying to catch up and fit in. Worse than that was trying to make new friends wherever we moved. There were those popular students who had known each other since grade school, and then there were outstanding individuals who just didn’t seem to interest me. I didn't like doing sports and was not good at anything, really. I was just an average high school kid looking for friends.
The more I thought, the angrier I was. Deep down inside, I knew my parents loved me, but it wasn’t enough. “That’s it!” I screamed one day as I ran up the stairs to my room. Throwing open my dresser drawers, I pulled out a clean T- shirt and jeans, threw them in my backpack and ran back down the steps. Mom and Dad stood there, looking like they were in shock.
“Where are you going?” Mom asked, her voice filled with concern.
“Anywhere but here!” I shouted as I ran out the door. They weren’t fast enough to grab me, and I slipped away into the darkness of the night. It was cold, but my hot temper(脾气) warmed me, and I didn’t feel it. Not at first, anyway.
I headed out and wandered around the street alone. I knew it wasn’t safe, but I didn’t care. I eventually found myself curled up (蜷成一团) on a park bench(长凳) closest to the comforting shelter of a streetlight. With my arms wrapped tightly around myself for warmth, I wept silent tears.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
Two or more hours later, a familiar voice broke through the silence.________________________________
