He was a sculptor, printmaker and stage designer. Due to his amazing skills and talent, he became an outstanding figure in all of these fields.

His work was bold and he always preferred to use innovative perspective. Picasso also excelled in other forms of art. He also produced sculptures, and collages, and even took an interest in theatrical productions.
His most famous work was “Guernica”, a typical example of cubist (立体主义的) style. He produced this in response to the Spanish Civil War when the town of Guernica suffered a horrifying bombing. To this day, his work is an iconic representation of war horrors.

In a remote part of Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest, river transport is far more common than road travel. Here, boats move along the Wichimi River, a wide channel that snakes through the thick plants, and powering the silent boats is the Ecuadorian sunshine.
The boats have been provided by Kara Solar, a non-profit organization based in the region. The Achuar here are responsible for fixing, running and maintaining the boats — the solar boats are shaping daily life for the community by offering transport for education, health services and eco-tourism.
For years, many Achuar have used gasoline-powered boats on the river, but the oil must be flown in by plane from Ecuador’ s capital, Quito, making it more expensive and adding to the carbon emissions (碳排放) connected with its use. “Gasoline motors use a lot of oil and pollute the river,” said Angel Wasump, Kara Solar’s director of operations and a member of the Achuar community. “Since the solar boats arrived, families have been giving up these motors completely,” he added.
Formally launched in 2018, Kara Solar is staffed by members of the Achua r community. According to the organization, the boats operating in Ecuador have completed over 300 trips in total, carrying over 1,000 passengers and traveling over 450 kilometers per month. The most common uses are transporting local children to and from school and providing wildlife tours for eco-tourists.
As well as reducing carbon emissions and pollution, the silent boats mean eco-tourists can get a closer view of wildlife without scaring it away. “The boat serves as a symbol of what eco-friendliness could look like,” said Wasump. “It’s like a return to what’s most important in Achuar culture. These boats have represented a way for us to reconnect with this vision of what development could look like.”
28 What can we learn about the Achuar from the first two paragraphs?
A. They mostly earn their living by fishing.
B. They depend much on boats in their lives.
C. They are enthusiastic about voluntary work.
D. They have little contact with the outside world.
29. What is a reason for the introduction of the solar boats?
A. They travel faster. B. They are easy to operate.
C. They are cost-effective. D. They carry more passengers.
30. What is paragraph 4 mainly about?
A. The features of the solar boats.
B. The applications of the solar boats.
C. The effects of the solar boats on people’s lives.
D. The advantages of the solar boats over traditional ones.
31. What does Wasump intend to stress in the last paragraph?
A. Cultural difference. B. Community spirit.
C. Environmental awareness. D. Technological development.

About 1 million people use American Sign Language (ASL) as their main way to communicate. ASL is important for children’s development of language. But learning ASL is often not that easy.
Statistics show that 98 percent of hearing-impaired (听力受损) people do not receive their education in sign language and 72 percent of families do not communicate by signing. Since nine-out-of-ten children who are born without hearing are born to hearing parents, learning sign language skills are significant for these children and families.
Now, a new app makes it easier to learn. Fingerspelling. xyz, an app from Hello Monday — a creative studio — teaches the correct hand positions in real time on web browsers. The app uses people’s webcams to track their hand movements while checking their accuracy (准确性).
The app begins by giving the user a series of words and the hand positions for them. Then the app user tries the word and they are given feedback (反馈) until they can properly complete the word. While the app will not make someone fluent in ASL, the creators hope that it will encourage people to take a course on ASL and fingerspelling.
The new app is different from other language apps because of the gaming-like technology it uses. This technology offers a more attractive learning experience than the traditionally used methods of learning sign language which include books and videos. It’s important to note that in ASL, fingerspelling is used for names, when there is no sign for a word, or when a person doesn’t know the sign.
The game was created together with The American Society for Deaf Children, an organization devoted to bringing families together through sign language, is available for free. The organization also offers online courses and a directory of children’s stories that were translated into ASL. Language is a gift that is too important not to share.
32. What does the author imply in paragraph 2?
A. Many people don’t take ASL seriously.
B. ASL should be accessible to more people.
C. It is too difficult for people to learn ASL.
D. ASL enjoys great popularity in the country.
33. How does the app work?
A By recognizing and translating texts.
B. By giving and correcting the hand positions.
C. By collecting and studying the user’s feedback.
D. By tracking and improving the user’s experience.
34 What is special about Fingerspelling. xyz?
A. It is convenient for the user to search.
B. It includes various books and videos.
C. It makes the learning more interesting.
D. It is based on face recognition technology.
35. What is the purpose of the text?
A. To introduce a product. B. To record an event.
C. To recommend a course. D. To comment on an invention.

On a bright, warm July afternoon, Mac Hollan, a primary school teacher, was cycling from his home to Alaska with his friends. One of his friends had stopped to make a bicycle repair, but they had encouraged Mac to carry on, and they would catch up with him soon. As Mac pedaled(骑行) along alone, he thought fondly of his wife and two young daughters at home. He hoped to show them this beautiful place someday.
Then Mac heard quick and loud breathing behind him. ”Man, that’s a big dog!" he thought. But when he looked to the side, he saw instantly that it wasn’t a dog at all, but a wolf, quickly catching up with him.
Mac’s heart jumped. He found out his can of bear spray. With one hand on the bars, he fired the spray at the wolf. A bright red cloud enveloped the animal, and to Mac’s relief, it fell back, shaking its head. But a minute later, it was by his side again. Then it attacked the back of Mac’s bike, tearing open his tent bag. He fired at the wolf a second time, and again, it fell back only to quickly restart the chase(追赶).
Mac was pedaling hard now. He waved and yelled at passing cars but was careful not to slow down. He saw a steep uphill climb before him. He knew that once he hit the hill, he’d be easily caught up and the wolf’s teeth would be tearing into his flesh.
At this moment, Paul and Becky were driving their car on their way to Alaska. They didn’t think much of it when they saw two cyclists repairing their bike on the side of the road. A bit later, they spotted what they, too, assumed was a dog running alongside a man on a bike. As they got closer, they realized that the dog was a wolf. Mac heard a large vehicle behind him. He pulled in front of it as the wolf was catching up fast, just a dozen yards away now.

【原文】My name is Simon. I started playing chess when I was three years old. By the age of five, I could beat children twice my age. And when I was eleven, I began playing in under-eighteen competitions. Sometimes, my weekends would be spent traveling all over the country. At first, it was really exciting, but I didn’t win many competitions.
Everything changed when I turned thirteen in 2018. In that year, I won every single competition I entered. When I was fourteen, my parents encouraged me to enter adult competitions. By playing at a higher standard, I developed as a player far more quickly. In 2020 I won my first adult competition, but by then my heart wasn’t in it. Because of chess, I had missed out on so much. I never went to parties with my friends.
So, in 2022, I gave up playing chess for a year, did normal things as a teenager, studied hard at school, and achieved good grades. But spending time away from the game made me realize how much I missed it! This year, I feel fresh again! I’ve already signed up for two national competitions. My goal? To be selected for the national team!

28. What can we learn about the Achuar from the first two paragraphs?
【答案】28. B 29. C 30. B 31. C

A. By recognizing and translating texts.
B. By giving and correcting the hand positions.
C. By collecting and studying the user’s feedback.
D. By tracking and improving the user’s experience.
34. What is special about Fingerspelling. xyz?
A. It is convenient for the user to search.
B. It includes various books and videos.
C. It makes the learning more interesting.
D. It is based on face recognition technology.
35. What is the purpose of the text?
A. To introduce a product. B. To record an event.

第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
注意:1、续写词数应为150个左右;
2、请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
The car abruptly stopped in front of him.

A few minutes later, the other two cyclists arrived.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Paragraph 1:
The car abruptly stopped in front of him. Mac jumped off his bicycle and rushed to the door of the car. But before Mac could open the door, the wolf had caught up and jumped to attack. Luckily, the magic spray saved Mac a third time. Seeing the wolf back off, Paul quickly unlocked the door, and the frightened man climbed into the car in no time, shutting the door behind him heavily. Becky looked out of the back window and saw the wolf standing over Mac’s bicycle as if it were a kill. Soon after, the animal ran off.
Paragraph 2:
A few minutes later, the other two cyclists arrived. Mac got out of the car and hugged his friends. “It was really a nightmare and I thought I was going to die,” said Mac in a shaky voice, tears gathering in his eyes. For him, life could never be more beautiful. After saying goodbye to Paul and Becky with gratitude, the three men continued their trip, agreeing never to separate again.
