Dear Anxious Bunny
I fully understand how debilitating it can feel 1(be) aware of the work you need to do bu
simply not be able to find the motivation to get started. I also understand the feelings of shame and
guilt 2often accompany this intemal conflict. But before I give you any practical advice or
strategies to deal with your stress, I want to emphasize the importance of not beating yourself up
for letting your work pile up: negative self- talk is only going to increase your anxiety.
You wouldn't be human 3 you didn't feel a lack of motivation at times. When you fee
demotivated, try taking a small step in the right direction by choosing any one of the tasks you
need to finish and starting working on it. 4 your feelings.
This may sound redundant, but fighting the impulse to not get started because of your lack of
motivation 5 be exactly what you need to do in order to find motivation. Once you start
completing a task that you 6 (put off) for days or even weeks, there's a fair chance that you'
realize it didn't even take you that long to complete. Then you can use that experience as evidence
that you're able to complete your tasks by simply choosing to get started instead of giving in tc
your lack of motivation.
This is easier said than done, but I find breaking down work into small parts rather thar
attempting to tackle 7all at once helps to ease your anxiety and stress. If you'd prefer a more
unconventional strategy, try taking a 15- minute walk, whether it outside or just around your
house. Many doctors believe 8this exercise may boost flowing to your brain, which can help
you calm your nerves and clcar your hcad so that your'llfeel ready to get down to doing your work
But if there seems to be 9 ongoing problem with your motivation, and you feel
overwhelmed to the point where you struggle to get out of bed or keep a regular eating schedule, it
may be time to seek help from a mental health professional. Also, don't hesitate to reach out to
your teachers for help. 10(prioritize) your mental health is a crucial part of your ability to be
the best student you can be. Take care of yourself, Anxious Bunny

An unruly Chinese boy who battles dragons and defies destiny has made his way to Western
cinema screcns after 11 box office records in China
The phenomenal success of " Ne Zha' a rare bright spot in China's otherwise slowing boy
office amid a 12 economy - has sparked a wave of national pride with audiences, state media
and officials rushing to celehrate the landmark achievement.
For decades, China's movie market had been 13 by Hollywood blockbusters. But in
recent years, homegrown titles - in genres from action and sci-fi to romance and animation - have
increasingly 14 Western films, a pivot fueled by rising cultural pride, more sophisticated
storytelling and rapid technological progress.
For a new generation of Chinese filmmakers and audiences, the reasoning is clear: If China's
own talent can deliver high-quality 15 of the legends they grew up with, why rely on
Western studios to tell Chinese stories?
Following its record-breaking run in China, 'Ne Zha' has taken the overseas cinema by 16
, with wide releases in Australia and New Zealand on Thursday and North America on Friday
I: became an instant hit among the Chinese diaspora (移民社群)-many rushed to snap up presale
tickets days in advance and lined up for its premiere (首映式)
- Even those who weren't 17 interested in anime, like me, are drawn to this movie
because of the 18 and glowing word of mouth in China," said Summer Wang, a data
analyst who attended the film's premiere in Los Angeles
Stephanie Zhan, 30, a jewelry sales manager in Sydney, spent an hour getting to a cinema in a
severe thunderstorm to watch 'Ne Zha'. 'The audience, mostly of Chinese descent, 19 一
in applause at the end of the screening."'The success of the film can be 2oto its
innovative animation style and visual effects,' she said. 'It had a complete story arc with
nuanced emotions, funny moments, and the fight scenes were spectacular,' she added, 'I feel
hopeful about domestic films now.'

DeepSeek a breakthrough but bottlenecks remain
DeepSeek 21its general large model DeepSeek-R1 last month, which attracted global
attention with its low cost and high performance. The model's training costs were I0 percent of th
industry benchmark (基 准) using far less computing power resources than those of its
intemational peers. This offers a new solution for breaking through the Western-dominated AI
development model of relying on high 22 to make breakthroughs
At the same time, DeepSeek has 23 a oompletely open source strategy, disclosing
algorithms, model weights and training details, so that global developers can learn from, improve
and deploy models. The open source ecosystem helps to attract more developers and users to
participate, promotes technology iteration, and is expected to change the 24competition
landscape

a long way to go
China's data infrastructure system construction is still in its 26. the data aequisition and
exchange mechanism is not yet sound, industry data and public data are difficult to obtain and
access, and the data available for large models is limited. 27. data annotation (注释) is the
basis for the supply of high-quality data. Due to the shortage of professional annotation talents, the
quality of data annotation in China needs to be improved, especially in areas such as medical care
and autonomous driving where development needs are 28 and the professional requirements
are high.
From a global perspective, the influence of Chinese domestic large models such as DeepSeek
in the global technology ecosystem is still in its early stage. From a 29 pcrspective, the cntire
industry chain of China's AI development from basic research to technological innovation to
scenario application has not yet been fully opened. The flow of factors such as technology, capital
data and talents that support the iterative (选代的) development of large models is still 30_.
To this end, AI basic research and technological innovation should be continuously
strengthened. The eountry should 31the construction of national strategic scientific and
technological forces in the field of AI, promote the cross-integration of AI with basic 32 such
as mathematics, physics and brain science, and improve basic AI research. It should encourage

Healing the Whole Family
For a long time, I didn't know about depression and anxicty, and the adults around me ncver
suspected, because I looked like I had it all together: perfect SAT(关国学业能力领向测验) score
ten AP(大学先修课程) tests aced. national awards won. president of clubs, dedicated volunteer
and founder of a nonprofit. When I burst into tears, my father would vell at me to stop crving. And
when I shared my negative thoughts with my mother, she called me selfish. I felt unworthy of
their love until I was perfeet beyond criticism
I attended Yale(耶鲁大学) as a first-generation student supported through financial aid. worke
at McKinsey, one of the world's largest consulting firms, and received two master's degrees from
Stanford(斯坦福大学). My fears of not being good enough seem groundless now, but perhaps
were understandablc given my upbringing
Raised by neglectful and abusive parents, my parents had scars they dared not uncover even for
themselves to see. No one had taught them to address those traumas and to avoid repeating them
through anxiety-filled parenting. I cannot remember a time when my home was worry-free. I
learned early that any moment without worry was idle
When my grandmother died in my freshman year of college, my mother chose to 'get on with"
her life, focusing on raising my brother. For years after, my brother struggled with his weight and
schoolwork to the point of near expulsion(开险) from school
As my mother looked for ways to help my brother, she came across Virginia Satir's family
therapy. Satir saw every family as a system. Changing one part changes the whole thing, This
made my mother start processing her own traumas.
So did L. During eollege, I sought counseling and studied wellness. I began to keep a diary to
overcome my past's shadow. In my final year, I told my family I had seen a therapist, and tha it
had helped.
My family was surprised to find out my mental health challenges were "bad enough' to
lead me to seek help. It was hard on my parents, who are part of a generation focused on survival
rather than wellness, to hear how their parenting had made a lasting impact on me. It took much
time and effort for my parents to shift away from the mindset they had grown up with.
Years into the jourmey, my mother now runs a nonprofit organization tcaching thousands of
Mandarin- spcaking parents about conscious communication. At her recent workshop, heard my
dad tell a parent, 'I didn't believe in therapy until my daughter told me that it's like fixinga
cavity(蛙牙洞) at the dentist. which makes a lot of sense to me now. Watching my family learr
helped me see that I have room to grow, too.'

Teens Are Still Developing Empathy Skils
The teen years are often fraught with door- slamming, eye- rolling and seeming insensitivity
even by kids who behaved kindly before. Some parents worry that they are doing somcthing
wrong or that their children willnever think of anyone but themselves. A six- year study shows
that biology is partly to blame.
ln adolescence, critical social skills that are needed for one to feel eoncerm for other people and
to understand how they think are undergoing major changes. Adolescence has long been known a
prime time for developing cognitive skills(认知能力)for self - regulation and executive
function(执行功能).
"Cognitive empathy,' or the mental ability to take others' perspective, begins to rise steadily
in girls at the age of 13, according to the study co- authored by Jolien van der Graaff at Utrecht
University in the Netherlands. By comparison, boys do not begin until the age of 15 to show
increases in perspcctive - taking, which helps in problem- solving and avoiding conflict.
Adolescent boys actually show a temporary decline, between the ages of 13 and 16, in a related
skill-'affective empathy(情感回理心).' or the ability to recognize and respond to others'
feelings. This may be the result, at least in part, of a dramatic rise in testosterone( ), th
primary male sex hormone, during adolescence, which sparks a desire for dominance and power
Fortunately, the boyr' sensitivity recovers in their late teens. Girls affective empathy remains
relatively high and stable throughout adolescenee.
This doesn't mcan, however, that we can do nothing but just wait for teenagers to develop a
feeling of empathy. In fact, parents can help instillaffective empathy into their children. Affective
empathy is grounded in the limbic region[边缘区) of the brain, which regulates emotions. Thi
capacity begins to develop in infancy. Children learn to practice empathy by watching thei
parents and by experiencing it themselves- being well treated by adults who sensitively respond
to their emotions. While cognitive empathy arises from a different part of the brain called the
medial prefrontal cortex( 内侧前额叶皮层). the two abilities are linked. Children's affective
empathy predicts their level of cognitive empathy as teens, says Caspar Van Lissa at Utrech
University.
The findings reflect a major expansion in researchers' understanding of cognitive growth
during adolescence. They used to believe that both forms of empathy were fully formed in
childhood. Now, it is clcar that 'the brain regions that support social cognition, which helps us
successfully understand and interact with others, continue to change dramatically". in our teens
says Jennifer Pfeifer at the University of Oregon. Research in her lab also suggests that cognitive
empathy rises in teens. The discoveries serve as a new lens for exploring such teen behavior as
bullying and drug abuse.
43. Teenage boys are less likely to put themselves in other people's shoes
A. until the age of 15
B. in their late teens
C. during adolescience
D. between the ages of 13 and 16
44. Adolescent boys tend to ignore the feelings of another person partly because ___
A. they are bom with a natural desire for dominance and power
B. their affective empathy becomes unstable during adolescence
C. they think being sensitive and caring is seen as uncool for guys
D. their emotional reactions are highly influenced by peer pressur
45. Which of the following kids is most likely to grow more empathetic during their adolescence?
A. Mike, raised by his grandparents who only care if he's hungry
B. Jack, raised by parents who buy anything he wants to keep him quiet
C. Leila, raised by parents who properly guide her through her cmotions.
D. Carla, raised by parents who always ask her to handle her feelings on her own.
46. Which of the following statements about the study co- authored by Graaff is NOT true
A. It took her team a long time to reach their eonclusions
B. It was the first of its kind to have studied teen empathy
C. Its findings were supported by Jennifer Pfeifer's research
D. It will pave the way for further research on some typical teen behavior

Why Do Cats Love Boxes So Much?
There is an object that's prety much guaranteed to arouse your car's interest. That object, as the
Internet has so thoroughly documented, is a box, Any box, really, Like many other really strange
things cats do, science hasn't fully cracked this particular feline (科的) mystery
__47_In fact, when you look at all the evidence together, it could be that
your cat may not just like boxes, he may necd them.
The box - and - whisker plot
Understanding the feline mind is extremely difficult. Still. there's a sizable amount of behaviora
research on cats who are, well, used for other kinds of research. These studies have been taking
place for more than 50 years and they make one thing quite clear: 48_
This is likely true for a number of reasons, but for cats in stressful situations, a box or some
other type of separate enclosure can have a strong impact on both their behavior and physiology.
Ethologist Claudia Vinke of Utrecht University in the Netherlands is one of the lates
researchers to study stress levels in shelter cats. Working with domestic cats in a Dutch anima
shclter, Vinke providod hiding boxes for a group of newly arrived cats while keeping another
group from them entirely. 49 In effect, the cats with boxes got used to their
new surroundings faster, were far less stressed early on, and were more interested in interactin
with humans.
The 'Ifit fits, I sits' principle
Some feline observers will note that in addition to boxes, many cats seem to pick other odd
places to relax. Some curl up in a bathroom sink 5oThis brings us to the other
reason why your cat may lke particularly small boxes: It's really cold out
So there you have it: Boxes are insulating, stress- relieving, comfort zones places where cats can
hide, relax, slcep, and occasionally launch a surprise attack against the huge, unpredictable apes
thcy live with.
A. Your furry companion obtains comfort and security from enclosed spaces.
B. Others prefer shoes, bowls, shopping bags, coffee mugs, empty cgg cartons, and other small.
enclosed spaces
C. She found a significant difference in stress levels between cats that had the boxes and those tha
didr't.
D. A box, in this sense, can often represent a safe zone, a place where sources of anxiety, hostility.
and unwanted attention simply disappear
E. So rather than work things out, cats tend to simply run away from their problerns or avoid them
altogether.
F. Thankfully, behavioral biologists and veterinarians have come up with a few interesting
explanations.

passage in no more than 60 words. Use your own words as far as possible
Problems on the Production of Coffee Beans
The production of coffee beans is a huge, profitable business, but, unfortunately, full- sun
production is taking over the industry and bringing about a lot of damage. The change in how
coffee is grown from shade - grown production to full - sun production endangers the very
existence of certain animals and birds and even disturhs the world's ecological balance
On a local level, the damage of the forest required by full- sun ficlds affects the area's birds and
animals. The shade of the forest trees provides a home for birds and other species that depend on
the trees' flowers and fruits. Full- sun coffee growers destroy this forest home, As a result, many
species are quickly dying out.
Moreover, the continued spread of full- sun coffee plantations could mean the destruction of
the rainforest ecology. The loss of shade trees is already causing a slight change in the world'
climate, and studies show that loss of oxygen - giving trees also leads to air poltion and global
warming. Besides, the new growing techniques are contributing to acidic soil conditions
On a more global level, the destruction of the rainforest for full- sun coffee fields also threatens
human life. Medical research often makes use of the forests'
plant and animal life, and the
destruction of such species could prevent researchers from finding cures for certain diseases. In
addition, new coffee - growing technigues are poisoning the water locally and eventually th
world's groundwater.
It is obvious that the way much coffee is grown affects many aspects of life, from the local
environment to the global ecology. But consumers do have a choice. They can purchase shade
grown coffee whenever possible, although at a higher cost. The future health of the planet and
mankind is surely worth more than an inexpensive cup of coffee
