I walked into a wild grade 3 classroom. Loud music was playing and the kids were throwing a football to each other. I was a mid-year replacement (替补) teacher. The previous teacher could no longer teach these children and left the job during the holiday break. As soon as I walked into the room I understood why.
I then put up a mirror on the wall next to the blackboard and began writing my name. Later, I asked the children one by one, to tell me their names and what they wanted to learn.
