根据Super/Man部分中“In 1995, when a horseback riding accident left him physically challenged, the actor insisted on working, raising money for injury research and helping others until his death in 2004.( 1995年,当一次骑马事故使他的身体出现障碍时,这位演员坚持工作,为伤病研究筹集资金并帮助他人,直到2004年去世。)”
根据My Penguin Friend部分中“He rescues the Antarctic sea bird, providing baths, shelter, food and a name: Dindim, which in turn helps Joao Pereira de Souza regain his sense of purpose.(他拯救了这只南极海鸟,为它提供了洗澡、住所、食物和名字:Dindim,这反过来又帮助Joao Pereira de Souza重获目标感。)”可知,该作品讲述的是Joao Pereira de Souza拯救了南极海鸟的故事,由此让自己重新获得目标感,展现了Joao Pereira de Souza的善良;根据The Life Impossible部分中“A letter from a former student leads retired maths teacher Grace Winters to describe the seemingly small act of kindness she showed to a music teacher years ago. (退休的数学老师Grace Winters收到了一位前学生的来信,她描述了几年前她对一位音乐老师看似微不足道的善举。)”介绍的是Grace Winters因为一个小善举获得了遗赠。由此推断两部作品都体现了善举的力量,所以共同主题是善举。故选B。
3.推理判断题。通读全文,文章分别介绍了不同的电影、纪录片、书籍和电视节目,由此推断文章最有可能取自杂志。故选C。
4.D 5.A 6.B 7.A
根据第一段中的“As I was on my way to the dance competition, the butterflies in my stomach seemed to grow, making it hard to draw a calm breath.(在我前往舞蹈比赛的路上,我心里的紧张感愈发强烈,连平稳地呼吸都变得困难起来。)”
根据第二段最后一句“Even if the carriage that carried me to Prince Charming was an accessible van (货车) that had a lift, once the clock struck midnight, my wheelchair would be waiting, and he would turn away.(即使载我去见白马王子的马车是一辆有升降机的无障碍货车,一旦午夜钟声敲响,我的轮椅就会在那里,而他会转身离开。)” 故选A项。
根据第三段第三句“I had always been captivated by dance but believed it was beyond my reach as a wheelchair user.(我一直被舞蹈所 ,但作为一名轮椅使用者,我认为它是我无法企及的。)”
如最后一段提到“In 2008, seeing a former titleholder’s wheelchair ballroom dance performance was a discovery. Later I sought instruction and gradually mastered new moves. Years later, as I faced my first dance competition in ages, doubts crowded.(2008年,看到一位前冠军的轮椅交谊舞表演是一个发现。后来我寻求指导,逐渐掌握了新的动作。多年后,当我面对多年来的第一次舞蹈比赛时,疑虑重重。)”,体现了作者在轮椅舞蹈方面的成长与进步。所以A项“Rising in Wheelchair Dance(在轮椅舞蹈中成长)”能准确地概括文章主旨。故选A项。

Like the Monkey King from Journey to the West, he was a favorite hero before the Internet came along. Havoc in Heaven, a new Peking Opera film, attracted the wider public to the charm of the traditional Chinese performance art, featuring one of the best-known chapters from Journey to the West.(老年人担心如何让那些热爱电子设备的年轻人对旧书感兴趣。
根据第四段“Some background images on stage, such as a painted waterfall, remain, and a live band was on the set to provide sound for the film, rather than employing the prerecorded music.(舞台上的一些背景图像,如一幅画的水瀑布,仍然保留着,并且有一个现场乐队在片场为电影提供声音,而不是使用预先录制的音乐。)”
根据第五段“On the other hand, some creativity was needed because Cheng and his team did not just want to document a stage performance. Computer technology is also applied to achieve some visual effects and to present impossible scenes.(另一方面,需要一些创造力,因为程和他的团队不仅仅想记录一场舞台表演。计算机技术也被用来实现一些视觉效果,并呈现出不可能的场景。)”可知,程的团队用现代技术丰富了视觉效果。故选B。
11.推理判断题。根据最后一段“However, the overuse of special effects in many film adaptations of Peking Opera plays has weakened the original charm of the stage performances. The imagination (enabled by the stage) can never be sacrificed for a film’s expression.(然而,在许多京剧电影的改编中,特效的过度使用削弱了舞台表演的原始魅力。舞台所带来的想象力绝不能为了电影的表达而牺牲。)”可知,作者认为为了电影,不应该放弃京剧的传统魅力。故选D。
12.A 13.B 14.A 15.C

根据第三段“The turning point came in 1987 when Vermander made his first visit to China and was fascinated both by the history and the meanings of Chinese ink painting.(转折点出现在1987年,当时Vermander第一次访问中国,并被中国水墨画的历史和意义所吸引)”以及最后一段“ What I like most in Chinese ink painting is the freedom it allows you. Under the art name of Bendu, Vermander — who is also known by his Chinese name Wei Mingde — is exhibiting more than 60 Chinese ink paintings, most of which he has created over the past decade. (复旦大学哲学学院的法籍教授Benoit Vermander在中国水墨画中发现了一种自由的自我表达方式。Vermander的艺名是Bendu,他的中文名是魏明德,他将展出60多幅中国水墨画,其中大部分是他在过去十年创作的)”结合本文讲述了法国教授Benoit Vermander对中国水墨画的热爱、学习及其作品特点。可知,这篇文章的主要内容是一个外国人在中国水墨画中发现了自己。故选C。

He listened patiently, offering tips on new techniques and materials I could try. As I left the store with fresh supplies, I felt a sense of relaxation and confidence.

As I was on my way to the dance competition, the butterflies in my stomach seemed to grow, making it hard to draw a calm breath. Wheelchair ballroom dance was one of my passions, but illness and transportation issues had caused me to miss several competitions in the previous few years.
There was a time when I couldn’t imagine doing this at all. However, that began to change in 2007 when I decided to compete for the title of Ms. Wheelchair Kansas. It was not a choice I made lightly. In fact, when I first got the application in the mail, I laughed, having long held the fixed idea that disability and attractiveness didn’t mix. Even if the carriage that carried me to Prince Charming was an accessible van (货车) that had a lift, once the clock struck midnight, my wheelchair would be waiting, and he would turn away.
The weekend was filled with workshops, and on the day of the prize-giving ceremony, I was excited to learn there would be a wheelchair dance routine. Dancing seemed an impossible task. I had always been captivated by dance but believed it was beyond my reach as a wheelchair user. After a quick attempt at learning some moves, I was discouraged. However, I won the crown (贵冠).
During my term as Ms. Wheelchair Kansas, I began a personal transformation. Firstly, I overcame my shyness, learning that approaching people and using my advocacy skills was essential. Secondly, I adopted a positive outlook, realizing that reflecting on negatives was useless. I traveled, speaking on disability issues. Thirdly, I overcame self-set limitations, believing in the impossible.
In 2008, seeing a former titleholder’s wheelchair ballroom dance performance was a discovery. Later I sought instruction and gradually mastered new moves. Years later, as I faced my first dance competition in ages, doubts crowded. But just before we began, my partner’s “Don’t think. Just dance.” calmed me. As the music played, my fears faded, and I was happy in the dance, having come to love it.

Older people worry about how to make young ones, who love their devices, interested in old books. Like the Monkey King from Journey to the West, he was a favorite hero before the Internet came along.
Havoc in Heaven《大闹天宫》, a new Peking Opera film, attracted the wider public to the charm of the traditional Chinese performance art, featuring one of the best-known chapters from Journey to the West. This film, expected to create a new channel to promote Peking Opera, includes nearly all the key ingredients of Peking Opera. It covers all the basic techniques, more than 10 classic tunes, and make-up for dozens of facial representations of different figures’ characteristics.
It’s actually a big challenge to combine Peking Opera and film, each of which has its own rhythm, according to Cheng Lu, director of the film, who is adopting a fresh approach to present the traditional art form. One challenge that Cheng and his production team faced is how to balance the new approach with maintaining the fundamentals of the art. The basic principles and performance skills in Peking Opera cannot be changed.
Some background images on stage, such as a painted waterfall, remain, and a live band was on the set to provide sound for the film, rather than employing the prerecorded music. “If we change traditions to cater to people’s taste and preference for a regular film, it will no longer be a Peking Opera piece of art,” Cheng said.
On the other hand, some creativity was needed because Cheng and his team did not just want to document a stage performance. Computer technology is also applied to achieve some visual effects and to present impossible scenes.
Peking Opera films played a powerful role in the 1960s and 70s, but they gave way to more diverse entertainment. In recent years, there has been a recovery in the popularity of Peking Opera films. However, the overuse of special effects in many film adaptations of Peking Opera plays has weakened the original charm of the stage performances. The imagination (enabled by the stage) can never be sacrificed for a film’s expression.

10.What innovation did Cheng’s team make?
A.They opposed a rigid recording of the performance.
B.They enriched visual effects with modern technology.
C.They allowed actors to repeat actions before the camera.

11.What can we conclude from the last paragraph?

D.The traditional appeal of Peking Opera should not be given up for movies.

Benoit Vermander, a French professor at Fudan University’s School of Philosophy, has found a free mode of self-expression in Chinese ink paintings. Under the art name of Bendu, Vermander — who is also known by his Chinese name Wei Mingde — is exhibiting more than 60 Chinese ink paintings, most of which he has created over the past decade.
Born in France in 1960, Vermander has been fond of painting since childhood. However, damage to sight and hearing made it hard for him to advance his painting skills, and his brushwork was commented as not being “clean”.
The turning point came in 1987 when Vermander made his first visit to China and was fascinated both by the history and the meanings of Chinese ink painting. “In this art form, I could find my own way of expression. I also realized that I could create much more freely than in classical Western painting, as even the ‘not clean’ part of my works can be a good part of a creation with ink. So, I decided to shift my focus on Chinese ink painting,” Vermander says. Since then, he has visited many places across China to study Chinese painting.
“Every one of my Chinese ink paintings is also a philosophical article,” he adds. For him, a good work — of either art or philosophy — should allow diversity in meaning, as each one can have a different connection to his work. Vermander regards his paintings as integrated expressions of himself with daily life. Through the ink brush, he hopes to show his inner explorations, and the movement of his heart. “What I like most in Chinese ink painting is the freedom it allows you. I am not skilled in Western painting as I have bad eyes, and it is not my character to be cautious, careful and plan everything. With Chinese ink painting, I could liberate my inner wildness. My only future goal is to have more time for painting — that’s it,” he says, laughing.
12.What challenges did Vermander face in his early painting career?
A.Physical problems.B.Nationality issues.C.Mental sufferings. D.Colleagues’ jealousy.
13.Vermander is interested in Chinese ink painting because of ________.
A.its wildness B.its nature C.his visits to China D.his love for China
14.Which of the following is true about Vermander’s ink paintings?
A.They are connected to his inner feelings. B.They are criticized for not being clean.
C.They have a single and clear meaning. D.They integrate Chinese and Western styles.
15.What is the text mainly about?
A.The style and techniques of Chinese ink painting.
B.The comparison between Western and Chinese art.
C.A foreigner finding himself in Chinese ink painting.
D.A phenomenon waiting for an art foreigner to explain.

Music is something that’s pretty much exclusive (独有的) to the human race. It’s a human activity and part of every culture in the world. After all, humans are social animals for a good reason. 16 Basically, when people join together and use their unique skills, talents, and knowledge for a more significant cause, much can be accomplished.
Keep in mind that the function of music is to ensure the survival of the group. Music also connects in other ways with each domain of culture. 17 Corporations (公司) have control over 70% of the music industry, and they define success by dollar values. This has a huge effect on the music that’s produced.
18 It doesn’t matter where you look. From big cities to remote villages, to dry deserts, to wet rainforests, to the peak of the Himalayas, music has always been a crucial part of daily life for people all over the world. Throughout history, each culture has created music, and each community uses that music to define itself.
Concerts are also a special place where people from all walks of life interact with each other. Everyone from all races, religions, and backgrounds can set aside their differences and sing and dance together in peace. 19 People worldwide came together for this musical event, and over 200 million people viewed the finale.
Music is an essential element of culture. Sharing music from one culture to another gives people an insight into another way of life. The relationship between culture and music can be simplified: culture helps to ensure people’s survival, and music helps work towards that goal by bringing people together. The major warning here is that these days it mostly only applies to small rural communities. 20
A.Economics and music are a big deal.
B.Music is a universal element of our existence.
C.Music is connected to everything in the universe.
D.When people cooperate within groups, tasks get done.
E.This doesn’t apply as much in large urbanized locations.
F.People employ music to embrace challenges in big communities.

I liked things going according to my plans. But lately there had been lots of troubles in my life. My daughter Gabby had a disease, making it difficult for me to focus on my job. One day, I went for a walk on the beach. It was something I’d been too busy to do before. As I slowly walked, looking at the blue sky and sea, my mood gradually lightened.
On my way home, I came across an art supply store. Attracted by the beautiful decorations, I walked inside. I hadn’t painted since I was a child, and I had already forgotten what most of the tools were for. Therefore, I decided to leave after a while. Just then, a young man approached and asked whether I needed any help. I wanted to say no and get out of the store. But soon I changed my mind and replied, “I would like to paint, but I don’t know what to buy.”
“My dad is an artist. I can show you everything you need,” the young man offered. He carefully picked out a set of paints and recommended brushes and other necessary things. “Have fun!” he added before I left. “I expect you to show me a painting the next time you come in here.”
I smiled weakly. Not likely, I thought. Yet that night, after Gabby went to sleep, I set up the easel (画架) and the tools in the dining room and decided to give it a try. What should I paint? I closed my eyes. Suddenly, I could imagine the blueness of the sky connected with the deeper, darker shades (色调) of the sea. I took a deep breath and began to draw.
I kept painting for the next few weeks. Whenever I felt stressed, I painted, and then I could forget all my troubles. I used my phone to take pictures of my paintings, so I could carry that feeling of peace with me. One afternoon, when I ran out of canvases (画布), I returned to the store to get some more.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
The young man who had helped me before recognized me.
