Dear Mr. White,
To be honest, I disliked you when I first met you. I disliked you when you made me stand up straight. I disliked the rule that you made me wear my uniform. What I disliked most was that you didn’t accept my homework unless it was the best.
We had lots of arguments. But you never lost your temper (发脾气). You were always patient with me.
When I look back, that time is very important to my growth. Not only did you teach me English, but also you showed me that I could achieve more than what I or anyone else thought.
Thank you, my dear teacher!
Yours,
Nick

One of the most unforgettable moments of my summer holiday in 2023 was the time I spent as a volunteer at the Shaanxi History Museum. It was such a wonderful experience for me because it was my first time to work as an exhibition guide.
I was very excited when my mother told me that I had passed the interview, but as it was the first time I took part in such an activity, I felt it was an “impossible task” for me. I knew almost nothing about the history or meaning of the exhibits . In the following days, with the help of my teachers, I had to do a lot of research on the Internet to learn about the historical backgrounds of the exhibits before I could complete my task. I practiced very hard at home in order to make sure I could express information correctly. Two weeks later, I was able to show my part of the introduction in front of a group of my classmates.
Soon, it was time to stand in the exhibition hall as a real guide. I was so nervous that I was afraid to speak to the visitors. They came and went in silence. I made up my mind to make a change. I went up to a young lady and said, ”May I be your guide?” She nodded with a smile. I raised my voice and led the young lady around the hall, explaining every exhibit to her. After the introduction, she praised me a lot. I was very thankful to her for giving me the chance. For the rest of the day, I was brave and confident enough to guide other visitors.
During this experience, I stepped out of my comfort zone (区域) and learned an important lesson — take one step forward, and you will grow.

Do you know what a landform (地貌) is? We use landforms to describe the earth’s surface, such as a mountain, or an island.
