Stevie and I were very competitive in everything. We got older and better so our games were more intense, but also more exciting. The strange thing is that I enjoyed the games vastly and was happy for my brother when he won. But afterwards, I felt my well-being threatened, and then my confidence suffered. When I was 10 years old I wanted to be successful at my talents. One day, a light came on in my head. I had to find something Stevie couldn’t do. It would have to be unique in every way. Before long, I got Jimmy Nelson’s record on “How to Become a Ventriloquist (腹语师)” and I practiced faithfully every day. After summer vacation, I did my first show for my class. The response was favorable. I performed for family get-togethers and did shows on a number of occasions to practice my new skill. It isn’t easy learning ventriloquism. The difficult part was developing the voice, because at first, it was soft and hard to hear. I memorized the routines and performed more. With time, I got better responses. The loud laughter was nonstop, in addition to the applause. Four years later, my mother purchased professional ventriloquial figure, which I named Freddie O’Sullivan. He was lifelike, with moving eyes, moving eyebrows, and could stick out his tongue. Treating Freddie like a real person enhanced my performance. In college, Freddie was well known. He would tell people that he was the only guy that could sleep in the girl’s dormitory. Over the years, I won many talent awards. One time, an elderly man looked at Freddie attentively and asked him where he got his trousers. The audience nearby had tears in their eyes. I didn’t know what was going on until I was told later the gentleman hadn’t spoken for 20 years. Thanks to my brother, I created a lifetime with Freddie. 24. How did the author feel at first when Stevie won a game? A. Delighted. B. Confused. C. Depressed. D. Surprised, 25. Why did the author decide to learn ventriloquism? A. To gain her parents’ favor in family get-togethers. B. To record her intense and competitive childhood. C. To have a special talent better than her brother. D. To bring joyous laughter to people around her. 26. What do we know about Freddie O’Sullivan? A. Freddie trained the author professionally. B. Freddie inspired an old man to restart to talk. C. Freddie took the place of the author’s brother. D. Freddie disturbed others in the girl’s dormitory. 27. According to the passage, which words can best describe the author? A. Generous and grateful. B. Modest and responsible. C. Patient and honest. D. Sensitive and determined. C WHEN KIM JI-UN lived in Seoul, she worried about finding a good job. Now, she is worried that drought may ruin her crop. The 23-year-old started a farm last year. Her first harvest was a success; she was surprised that her black beans did better than her strawberries. Ms Kim is part of a phenomenon called kwichon, or returning to rural life. Created a millennium ago, kwichon appears during periods of economic hardship. This time, in the wake of the pandemic, many new farmers have never lived in the countryside before. By planting young farmers in rural areas, the government hopes to enjoy big rewards in future. The plan is working. In 2021 nearly 380, 000 people moved to the countryside. Comfort with digital technology gives young farmers a leg up, says Cho Kyung-ik, the director of the Beginning Farmer’s Centre, an institution educating those who wish to kwichon at its downtown offices. They sell fresh produce on Naver, South Korea’s largest search engine. The centre teaches techniques like how to use a tractor or select the best crops. It arranges a trial period during which ambitious farmers work under the guidance of an old hand, learning what it means to do back-breaking labour from dawn to dusk. The most important lesson is how to get on with the locals. The villagers are also offered tips on how to act towards the newcomers. That part is not yet a total success. Ms Kim says her neighbors have a bad temper. “The old people come in here and give me unwanted advice, or say that I will never be able to grow anything,” she says. Her black beans beg to differ. She and the South Korean government will be hoping that her crops put the argument to rest for good. 28. Why does the writer tell Ms Kim’s story? A. To explain a solution. B. To introduce a topic. C. To start a discussion. D. To make a comparison. 29. What does the underlined “a leg up” in paragraph 3 mean? A. A helping hand. B. A new identity. C. A big reward. D. A different idea. 30. What is the challenge for the young farmers? A. Farming techniques. B. Hard work. C. Communicative skills. D. Unwanted advice. 31 What can we infer from kwichon in South Korea? A. Farming makes huge profits. B. Locals need technical training. C. It helps to bring rural areas back to life. D. Government should help farmers. D Think “art”. What comes to your mind? Is it Greek or Roman sculptures in the Louvre or Chinese paintings in the Palace Museum? Or maybe, just maybe, it’s a dancing pattern of lights? The artworks by American artist Janet Echelman look like colourful floating clouds when they are lit up at night. Visitors to one of her artworks in Vancouver could not only enjoy looking at it, they could also interact with it-literally. They did this by using their phones to change its colours and patterns. Exhibits such as these are certainly new and exciting, but are they really art? Whatever your opinion, people have been expressing their thoughts and ideas through art for thousands of years. To do this, they have used a variety of tools and technologies. Yet Michelangelo and others have been labelled (定义) as “artists”, but not “technicians”. This means that art and technology, have always been seen as two very separate (不同的) things. Today, however, technological advances have led to a combination of art and technology. As a result, the art world is changing greatly. Now art is more accessible to us than ever before. Take for example one of China’s most famous paintings from the Song Dynasty, Along the River During the Qingming Festival. As this artwork is rarely on display, people have sometimes queued up to six hours for a chance to see it. Once in front of the painting, they only have limited time to spend taking in its five metres of scenes along the Bian River in Bianjing. Thanks to technology however, millions more people have been able to experience a digital version of this painting. Three-dimensional (3D) animation means that viewers can see the characters move around and interact with their surroundings. They can also watch as the different scenes change from daylight into nighttime. The art-tech combination (结合) is also changing our concepts of “art” and the “artist”. Not only can we interact with art, but also take part in its creation. With new technological tools at our fingertips, more and more people are exploring their creative sides. The result has been exciting new art forms, such as digital paintings and videos. However, where technology will take art next is anyone’s guess. But one thing is for sure—with so many artists exploring new possibilities, we can definitely expect the unexpected. 32. What’s the function of the first paragraph? A. To explain the art. B. To introduce the topic. C. To give the background. D. To give a definition. 33. Why is “Michelangelo” referred to in the third paragraph? A. To show he is a famous artist. B. To show he is also a technician. C. To show art is different from technology. D. To show art is the same as technology. 34. What’s mainly talked about in the passage? A. The history of technology and art. B. The relation of technology and art. C. The future of technology and art. D. The examples of technology and art. 35. What can we know about the author’s attitude to the combination of art and technology ? A. Positive. B. Negative. C. Doubtful. How to Take to Become a Morning Person As we all know, early to bed and early to rise is beneficial to health. ____36____ Here are some tips for you to take to become a morning person. ●Seek out as much natural light as possible. The secret to becoming a morning person is exposure to bright light. ____37____ When you wake up, pop outside for a walk around the block, or sit out back while you sip a cup of coffee. Besides, the black-out curtains you might use to foster a very dark sleeping environment isn’t recommended. If the brightness bothers you overnight, consider wearing an eye mask that you take off as you start to wake up. ● ____38____ There are two ways to approach your journey to early rising. Step by step it’s easier for you to tolerate. ●Go to bed early in the evenings. A consistent bedtime isn’t as crucial as sticking to the same rising time every day, but it’s still important to make sure you’re getting enough sleep. Most people should aim for at least seven hours a night. ____39____ Cut back on how much exposure to bright light you’re getting, because being exposed to artificial light in the late evening holds back your body’s ability to generate melatonin (褪黑素), which can interfere with both your ability to fall asleep and your sleep quality. ●Plan something to look forward to. You see, Leopold is a picky eater— he lives on chicken nuggets and yogurt— and can be hesitant to try new things. I was hoping to find a way to encourage him without resorting to worn-out saying like“If you don’t try it, you’ ll never know if you like it.” So I borrowed the idea of a Yes Day, something our family has done a handful of times since watching the movie of the same name. Before the trip, Leopold and I agreed we would say yes to everything, including food and experiences— especially new ones. We started saying yes before we even boarded our flight, when we stopped at a breakfast buffet at the airport. For me, that meant I sampled a vegan meatball, while Leopold tried a mouse bite of hash browns he said looked“funny”. After we got settled at our hotel, I took Leopold to meet his skiing instructor. While he was doing his skiing practice, I skied by myself. On the first day, I played it safe and stuck to the long and winding easy green run. On the second day, I challenged myself to ski an intermediate blue run. There was a part steeper than I had thought, but I did my slow, diligentS-turns and I made it down in one piece. Leopold had taken a few lessons back at home in Connecticut but had never had the opportunity to ski on a mountain of this size. My hope was that he would make the most of this opportunity. So I encouraged him to ride a chairlift(吊椅式缆车) to the top and then ski down. Leopold’s anxiety was evident as we stood at the base of the mountain. His eyes widened at the sight of the chairlift, and he clutched my hand tightly. “I don’t want to do this, Mom.” he whispered, his voice trembling. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Leopold returned from his skiing adventure, flushing with excitement. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$这是英语课听力部分,该部分分为第一第二两节。 Wow, your dad did a great job. The ancient egyptians and romans employed various techniques to cool down their buildings from the outside heat. Some people have even claimed that the first air conditioning device was invented in ancient egypt. The ancient egyptians would hang wet plants outside their windows, and when the air came into the house, IT would be cooled by the cool water drops on the plants. The romans understood that if they could bring cold water under their houses, then the temperature inside would fall. And if we really stretched the meaning of the phrase air conditioning, then hand fans have been used since the very beginning of the history. People realized that they could move air by waving something, and IT would cool them down for a while. The chinese invented丁huan went a step further in the second century and invented a fan that could go around similar to the fans we might see today。Although IT was powered by servants. That's all for today. Please stay tuned for more updates. The desire to stay cool is, of course, nothing new. Playing games was our life back then. A 25. C 26. B 27. 根据第二段中的“The strange thing is that I enjoyed the games vastly and was happy for my brother when he won.(奇怪的是,我非常喜欢比赛,当我的兄弟获胜时,我为他感到高兴)”可知,在兄弟获胜的时候,作者会感到很高兴。故选A项。 根据第三段中的“When I was 10 years old I wanted to be successful at my talents. One day, a light came on in my head. I had to find something Stevie couldn’t do.(当我10岁的时候,我想在我的才能上取得成功。有一天,我脑子里灵光一闪。我得找到史蒂维做不到的事)”可知,作者在10岁的时候,想要找到一个Stevie不会做事情,由此可知,作者是想比Stevie拥有更好的才华。故选C项。 【26题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段中的“One time, an elderly man looked at Freddie attentively and asked him where he got his trousers. The audience nearby had tears in their eyes. I didn’t know what was going on until I was told later the gentleman hadn’t spoken for 20 years.(有一次,一位上了年纪的老人仔细地看着Freddie,问他的裤子是从哪儿来的。旁边的观众都热泪盈眶。我不知道发生了什么,直到后来我被告知这位先生已经20年没有说话了)”可知,在一次表演时,有位观众专注地盯着Freddie,还询问他裤子在哪里买的,观众们都流泪了,后来才知道,这位观众20年没说话了,由此可推断,Freddie启发着一位老人开始说话。故选B项。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中的“But afterwards, I felt my well-being threatened, and then my confidence suffered.(但后来,我感到自己的幸福受到了威胁,然后我的信心受到了影响)”可知,作者很敏感;根据第三段中的“I had to find something Stevie couldn’t do. It would have to be unique in every way. Before long, I got Jimmy Nelson’s record on “How to Become a Ventriloquist(腹语师)” and I practiced faithfully every day.(我得找到史蒂维做不到的事。它必须在各个方面都是独一无二的。不久,我得到了Jimmy Nelson的录像《如何成为一名口技家》,我每天都忠实地练习)”以及第四段中的“It isn’t easy learning ventriloquism. 31. What can we infer from kwichon in South Korea? A. Farming makes huge profits. B. Locals need technical training. C. It helps to bring rural areas back to life. D. Government should help farmers. 【答案】28. B 29. A 30. C 31. What comes to your mind? Is it Greek or Roman sculptures in the Louvre, or Chinese paintings in the Palace Museum? B. You could force yourself to get up at your desired time every day, knowing that you’ll feel tired in the first few days but will naturally start falling asleep earlier within a few weeks. You can shift half an hour, wait a few days, shift another half an hour, wait a few days, and then shift another half an hour. To motivate you out of bed, you should treat yourself to something special you can enjoy the moment you get up. For example, you won’t miss your favorite coffee or pastries when your alarm goes off at 5 a.m... ____40____ A. Ease in gradually. B. Be consistent with your schedule. C. You’re not fearing it if you think of these. D. The sun is the driver of our internal clock. E. Enough sleep will enhance your immune function. F. (运用了which引导的非限制性定语从句) 第二节(满分25分) 67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Last year, as my then-9-year-old son, Leopold, and I were preparing for a mom-son ski trip to Keystone, I came up with a rule: we would say yes to everything. 注意: (1) 续写词数应为150个左右; (2) 请按照如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 “I don’t want to do this, Mom.” he whispered, his voice trembling. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Leopold returned from his skiing adventure, flushing with excitement. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】“I don’t want to do this, Mom.” he whispered, his voice trembling. I knelt down to meet his gaze and said gently, “Leopold, we’re here to say yes.” I saw a flicker of determination in his eyes as he nodded yes. He inched towards the chairlift, white-knuckled during the whole ride, but he didn’t look back. He reached the top and prepared to descend, my heart in my throat. The first few moments were shaky, but with each turn, Leopold grew more confident. The sun cast long shadows across the snow, highlighting his progress as he navigated the slope. The once shaky turns evolved into a graceful ballet with the mountain. Leopold returned from his skiing adventure, flushing with excitement. “I did it, Mom!” he exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with pride. As he recounted the exciting plunge down the slope and the refreshing chilly wind against the cheeks, his voice was filled with a newfound confidence. I squeezed his hand, showing I was so proud of him. Leopold looked up at me, his eyes mirroring the vast expanse of the sky above. I wrapped him in a warm embrace, our laughter mingling in the frosty air, a visible symbol of shared triumph. The snowcapped mountains, with its awe-inspiring elegance, stood as a silent testament to the power of saying yes to life’s challenges. 词汇激活 行为类 ①到达:reach /get to ②大叫到:exclaime / yell ③讲述:recount / narrate 情绪类 ①激动的:exciting /thrilling ②决心:determination/ resolution ③自豪:proud of/take pride of 【点睛】[高分句型1]. The sun cast long shadows across the snow, highlighting his progress as he navigated the slope.(运用了非谓语动词中的现在分词作状语。) [高分句型2]. As he recounted the exciting plunge down the slope and the refreshing chilly wind against the cheeks, his voice was filled with a newfound confidence.(运用了As引导的时间状语从句。) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
