阅读理解 A (2025·河北衡水阶段练习) What we do We champion the writer in every child. Starting in 2010, we aim to offer help to young people. We develop selfrespect and communication skills through innovative writing programmes and onetoone mentoring for children living in underresourced communities, working in schools and at our writing center in east London. Our people Meet the people who are behind the writing workshops, running a shop and shaping the future of our organization. Day by day, we also rely on more than specially 200 trained volunteers who help with all aspects of our work. And we are always looking for more enthusiastic volunteers who are excited to work alongside our young people to help bring their stories to life. Our purpose Through a range of creative writing programmes and small group mentoring, we help young people discover and realise their own potential. Through our innovative storytelling and writing workshops, children can gain confidence and grow in selfrespect. Our method We help young people develop new skills, discover their imagination and achieve their potential by inspiring them to change their lives through the power of writing. And our publishing platforms make sure their voices are always heard. How we work with writers We are building a national network of likeminded professionals and a growing family of organisations that support children and young people's creative writing. We have a free afterschool writing workshop for children aged 6-15 from our east London community. The position of the workshop is on the Hoxton Street. We also work with schools and teachers in east London to help young people discover their confidence and get them to learn through the power of their imagination. 1.What do we know about the organization? A.It operates largely on a volunteer basis. B.It aims to find innovative people to join. C.It provides young writers with guidance. D.It works for the communities in London. 根据第二段“Meet the people who are behind the writing workshops, running a shop and shaping the future of our organization. Day by day, we also rely on more than specially 200 trained volunteers who help with all aspects of our work. And we are always looking for more enthusiastic volunteers who are excited to work alongside our young people to help bring their stories to life. A。 2.What is the location of the afterschool writing workshop? A.A community center in west London. B.The Hoxton Street in London. C.A library on Hoxton Street. D.A school in east London. 根据最后一段“We have a free afterschool writing workshop for children aged 6-15 from our east London community. The position of the workshop is on the Hoxton Street. (我们为来自伦敦东部社区的6至15岁儿童提供免费的课外写作工作坊。工作坊的位置在霍克斯顿街。)”可知,课外写作工作坊在伦敦的霍克斯顿街。故选B。 3.Where can the text be taken? A.On a movie poster. B.In a writing contest. C.At an educational website. D.In a workshop report. 根据文章小标题“What we do (我们的行动)”“Our people (我们的人员)”“Our purpose (我们的宗旨)”“Our method (我们的方法)”“How we work with writers (我们如何与作家合作)”以及文章第一段“We champion the writer in every child. Starting in 2010, we aim to offer help to young people. We develop selfrespect and communication skills through innovative writing programmes and onetoone mentoring for children living in underresourced communities, working in schools and at our writing center in east London. (我们支持每个孩子心中的作家梦。从 2010 年开始,我们旨在为年轻人提供帮助。我们通过创新的写作项目和为生活在资源匮乏社区的孩子提供一对一的指导,在学校以及我们位于伦敦东部的写作中心开展工作,以此培养他们的自尊和沟通技巧。)”和最后一段“We also work with schools and teachers in east London to help young people discover their confidence and get them to learn through the power of their imagination. (我们还与伦敦东部的学校和教师合作,帮助年轻人发现他们的自信,并让他们通过想象力的力量进行学习。)”可知,文章主要介绍了位于伦敦东区的一个非营利组织的相关内容,包括目的、方法、工作方式等,该组织通过创意写作项目和一对一辅导帮助青少年发现他们的自信和实现自己的潜力,所以比较适合出现在教育网站上。故选C。 B (2025·辽宁大连月考)Young kids' brains are very sensitive (敏感的) to their moms' voices, science has shown. But as kids grow into teens, everything changes. Teenagers' brains are now more sensitive to strangers' voices than those of their own moms', new research shows. The researchers studied the brains of 7to 16yearolds as they listened to things said by their moms or by unfamiliar women. The words were gibberish: teebudieshawlt, keebudieshawlt and peebudieshawlt. Using such meaningless words allowed the scientists to study the voices, not what they were saying. As the kids listened, certain parts of their brains became active. This was especially true in brain areas that help us to find rewards and pay attention. Daniel Abrams, a researcher at Stanford University, says that younger kids' brains respond more strongly to their moms' voices than to strangers'. However, in adolescence (青春期), we show the exact opposite. “These areas in the adolescent brains don't stop responding to moms' voices,” Abrams explains. “It's just that unfamiliar voices become more worthy of attention. Here's why: As kids grow up, they widen their social connections beyond their family. So their brains need to begin paying more attention to that wider world.” But moms' voices still have special power, especially in times of stress, a 2011 study with girls showed. Levels of stress dropped when these girls heard their moms' voices on the phone. The brain seems to adapt to new needs that come with adolescence. “As we grow up, our survival depends less and less on our moms' support.” says Leslie Seltzer, a biological anthropologist at the University of WisconsinMadison. “Instead we rely more and more on our friends and others doser to our own age.” “So while both teens and their parents may sometimes feel annoyed, that's OK,” Abrams says. “This is the way the brain is wired, and there's a good reason for it.” 4.What does the underlined word “gibberish” in paragraph 2 refer to? A.Question. B.Story. C.Saying. D.Nonsense. 根据画线词后文“teebudieshawlt, keebudieshawlt and peebudieshawlt”和“Using such meaningless words(用这些无意义的词语)”可推知,画线词gibberish的意思是“无意义的话”,与nonsense的意思最为接近。故选D。 5.Why do teens become more sensitive to unfamiliar voices? A.They need more connections. B.They desire real understanding. C.They are tired of their moms. D.They have more energy to spare. 根据第四段“It's just that unfamiliar voices become more worthy of attention. Here's why: As kids grow up, they widen their social connections beyond their family. So their brains need to begin paying more attention to that wider world.(只是不熟悉的声音变得更值得关注。原因如下:随着孩子的成长,他们扩大了家庭以外的社会关系。所以他们的大脑需要开始更多地关注更广阔的世界。)”可知,青少年对陌生的声音反应更敏感是因为他们需要扩大自己的社交关系。故选A。 6.What are moms' voices like to teens according to the 2011 study? A.Exciting. B.Unpleasant. C.Comforting. D.Strange. 根据第五段“But moms' voices still have special power, especially in times of stress, a 2011 study with girls showed. Levels of stress dropped when these girls heard their moms' voices on the phone.(但2011年一项针对女孩的研究显示,母亲的声音仍然具有特殊的力量,尤其是在压力大的时候。当这些女孩在电话里听到妈妈的声音时,她们的压力水平下降了。)”可推断,对于青少年来说,妈妈的声音让青少年感到安慰。故选C。 7.What is Daniel Abrams' opinion on teens' change in their voice preference? A.It deserves scientific prevention. B.It is normal and understandable. C.It is discouraging and problematic. D.It negatively affects their growth. 根据最后一段“‘So while both teens and their parents may sometimes feel annoyed, that's OK,’ Abrams says. ‘This is the way the brain is wired, and there's a good reason for it.’(‘所以,虽然青少年和他们的父母有时会感到恼火,但这没关系。’Abrams说,‘这就是大脑的连接方式,这是有充分理由的。’)”可推断,Daniel Abrams认为青少年的声音偏爱的变化是正常且可以理解的。故选B。 Ⅱ.七选五 (2025·重庆阶段练习)Everyone knows that it takes 21 days to develop a new habit. We probably owe this particular example of poppsychology wisdom to Maxwell Maltz, the plastic surgeon who claimed to have observed that individuals who had had an arm or leg cut off took an average of only 21 days to adjust to the loss of a limb (肢体). 1 . And therefore it must take 21 days to change a habit, maybe, perhaps! 2 , as a new study by psychologist Phillippa Lally and her colleagues helps confirm. On average, her subjects, who were trying to learn new habits such as eating fruit daily or going jogging, took a depressing 66 days before reporting that the behaviour had become unchangingly automatic. 3 . It couldn't be just as easy to start eating a few more apples as to start finding five hours a week to study Chinese. Selfhelp culture sticks to the fiction of the 21day rule, probably because it makes habit change sound basically easy. 4 . Our brains are designed to take short cuts, making as many behaviours as possible automatic. “Really,” asks the psychologist Ian NewbyClark, “what would be the point of having a habit that didn't free up your mind to focus on more pressing matters?” Habits are meant to be difficult to change. Another problem is that we tend to think about habit change wrongly. We want to, say, stop watching so much TV, but on the other hand, demonstrably, we also want to watch lots of TV—after all, we keep doing it. We're stuck deep in what the Greeks called “akrasia”: deciding on the best course of action, then doing something else. 5 . Simply stop watching TV is like dealing with a leaky bathroom tap by repainting the kitchen. What's required is an alternative way to feel relaxed and happy. Maybe by looking at the problem differently we can slip out of them. A.This is, of course, nonsense B.The 21day rule does have some scientific basis C.We believe that habits are purely a matter of willpower D.The way round this is to see that habits are responses to needs E.Therefore, he reasoned the same must be true of all big changes F.And some habits, unsurprisingly, were harder than others to make stick G.One problem with this is discouragingly simple: changing habits is hard 1.解析 E 根据前文“We probably owe this particular example of poppsychology wisdom to Maxwell Maltz, the plastic surgeon who claimed to have observed that individuals who had had an arm or leg cut off took an average of only 21 days to adjust to the loss of a limb (肢体). (我们可能要把这个流行心理学智慧的特别例子归功于整形外科医生Maxwell Maltz,他声称自己观察到,失去一条胳膊或一条腿的人平均只需要21天就能适应一条肢体的失去。)”可知,此处陈述了Maxwell Maltz的观点。E选项“Therefore, he reasoned the same must be true of all big changes(因此,他推断所有大的变化都是如此)”承接前文,选项中的he指代前文的“Maxwell Maltz”,符合语境。故选E。 2.解析 A 根据前文“And therefore it must take 21 days to change a habit, maybe, perhaps!(因此,改变一个习惯必须花21天,也许,也许!)”以及后文“as a new study by psychologist Phillippa Lally and her colleagues helps confirm. On average, her subjects, who were trying to learn new habits such as eating fruit daily or going jogging, took a depressing 66 days before reporting that the behaviour had become unchangingly automatic 故选A。 3.解析 F 根据后文“It couldn't be just as easy to start eating a few more apples as to start finding five hours a week to study Chinese.(开始多吃几个苹果不可能像开始每周抽出五个小时学习中文那么容易。)” F选项“And some habits, unsurprisingly, were harder than others to make stick(不出所料,有些习惯比其他习惯更难坚持)”直接指出了不同习惯养成的难易程度不同,照应后文中将吃苹果和学汉语相对比的例子。故选F。 4.解析 G 前文“Selfhelp culture sticks to the fiction of the 21day rule, probably because it makes habit change sound basically easy.(自助文化坚持21天规则的虚构,可能是因为它使习惯改变听起来基本上很容易。)” 5.解析 D 根据前文“Another problem is that we tend to think about habit change wrongly. We want to, say, stop watching so much TV, but on the other hand, demonstrably, we also want to watch lots of TV—after all, we keep doing it. We're stuck deep in what the Greeks called ‘akrasia’: deciding on the best course of action, then doing something else. (另一个问题是,我们倾向于错误地思考习惯的改变。比如说,我们想停止看那么多电视,但另一方面,很明显,我们也想看很多电视——毕竟,我们一直在看电视。我们深陷希腊人所说的‘akrasia’:决定最好的行动方针,然后做其他事情。)”可知,前面提到的是我们在习惯改变上的错误思维方式,即想要做某事(如少看电视),但实际上却继续做其他的事。D选项“The way round this is to see that habits are responses to needs(解决这个问题的方法是认识到习惯是对需求的反应)”针对前文的问题提出了解决方案即要理解并满足我们的真正需求,而不是简单地错误地改变某个习惯。故选D。 Ⅲ.完形填空 (2025·湖南长沙阶段练习)Do you remember the name of your kindergarten teacher? I find it challenging to keep up with the pace of all subjects, and the workload is overwhelming. Could you please give me some advice on how to manage my time and improve my study efficiency? Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Yours, Li Hua Ⅲ. The school gymnasium was transformed into a hub (中心) of innovation and excitement as students from all grades gathered for the annual science fair. Projects lined the walls, each one a testament (证明) to the hard work and creativity of the students. Among the exhibits was a particularly impressive volcano created by a group of enthusiastic freshmen, and a sophisticated solarpowered car designed by a team of seniors. In the corner of the gymnasium, a slightly nervous but determinedlooking girl named Mei stood next to her project. She had spent weeks preparing for this event, working tirelessly on a device that could convert (使转变) thermal energy from the environment into electricity. Her invention was a small, compact box with a series of thermoelectric cells (热电元件) and a small fan to let heat out. Mei had named it “EcoPower”, and she hoped it would impress the judges and her peers. As the first group of students approached her table, Mei took a deep breath and began to explain the workings of her invention. She was proud of her work, but the pressure of the science fair was starting to get to her. Her hands trembled slightly as she demonstrated how the device could power a small LED light using the heat from a warm cup of water. The crowd around Mei's project grew, and she could feel the weight of their expectations. She noticed a few students whispering and pointing at her device, and she couldn't tell if they were impressed or skeptical. Mei's heart raced as she continued to answer questions and explain the scientific principles behind her invention. As the judges made their way through the gymnasium, Mei's anxiety reached its peak. When the awards ceremony began, Mei sat in the audience, with her hands tightly pressed together on the lap. One possible version: As the judges made their way through the gymnasium, Mei's anxiety reached its peak. When they finally reached her table, Mei took a deep breath and began to explain the concept of “EcoPower” once again.
