Just off Orlando's busy Interational Drive sit popular tourist attractions such as Universal
Orlando Resort and Disney World. One community that quietly sits in the shadows of these tourist
attractions is Tangelo Park.In the past, this community had very few services or transit options(
for residents. The community struggled with many social problems that one resident explained
were so bad that"you couldn't even walk to the store because you were afraid of being robbed at any
time".Education in Tangelo Park struggled as well;only a few students could graduate from the high
school.
Rosen grew up in a poor family in Tangelo Park as his parents moved there. He didn't see
anything wrong with how he,his family, and his friends lived until a tourist remarked,"So this is
how they live for the rest of their lives."He was so embarrassed that he was determined to change
his fate.He received a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and went on to have a successful
career working for Disney, and he decided to give back to his community.
Community leaders met with Rosen in 1993 to discuss a possible solution to these growing
issues in Tangelo Park.In just an hour, with money guaranteed by Rosen, the leaders came up with
the idea of developing the Tangelo Park Program (TPP).The program offers free preschool for every
Tangelo Park 2-to-4-year-old.As well,TPP gives free college tuition and living expenses for every
Tangelo Park high school graduate who is accepted to a college.
In the 29 years that TPP has been active, the Tangelo Park community has experienced
exceptional improvement.Donna Wilcox,a Harris Rosen Scholarship recipient,earned a bachelor's
degree from UCF using her full--ride(全额奖学金),“When people have the resources to go and
succeed because of TPP,they can really influence others,"she says."No one in my family ever went
to college before, but now,my baby sister can't even picture a life without college. My mother even
went back and got her degree.I showed her that she could do it."

The Yellow River is the cradle of China's civilization. And flood control and prevention have
always been key to the well-being of the people living along it.Now,scientists can better work on
these issues by giving the river a digital twin.
The digital twin of the Yellow River uses various technologies, including big data, artificial
intelligence, and the internet of things.Devices set up along the river collect and transmit
information to the command center.Based on the information,a 3D model of the river is presented
on the computer screen. It's like the Yellow River has a twin that reflects its real conditions.
One big breakthrough in the river's digital governance is"smart stones".According to Wang Qin,
a lead researcher at the Information Center of Yellow River Henan Bureau,a smart stone is a
water-proof stone-shaped device with chips,a battery,and a signal transmitter.They are buried in
important dike (locations to record and report the movement of dike stones."Upon feeling
movement of the dike stones, the smart stone sends an alarm to the command center for quick
response,"Wang said.
"In the past, researchers had to learn the conditions of the dike on the spot by themselves,
putting their lives at risk,"said Zhao Xiaoxiong from the bureau."Now the smart stones can do this
for us,more safely,quickly,and accurately."And in the sky,drones are flying.On the routes
designed by engineers, the drones become expert patrollers (of the river, looking at its dikes
and flood prevention projects.According to Shen Lin from the Yellow River Conservancy
Commission, thanks to the drones, researchers at the command center can get first-hand photos and

information."Researchers then update the 3D model according to the changes the drones reported.
The newly updated model helps us test our floodwater release plans in case we ever need to batten
down the hatches,"said Shen.
Under the water and up in the sky, intelligent systems are helping to protect the Yellow River
Basin on all fronts.According to the Ministry of Water Resources,in the future,we can expect to see
the construction of an even more comprehensive digital system for this important river.

A.They record water quality.
B.They enhance the river's beauty.
C.They monitor and report dike movements.
D.They serve as markers for important locations.
30.What is one of the functions of drones in the digital goverance of the Yellow River?
A.Entertaining tourists.
B.Giving warning of coming floods.
C.Patrolling and taking wildlife photos.
D.Collecting information on dike conditions.

Archaeologists in Egypt have unearthed a Sphinx statue(獅身人面像)with a smiley face near
the Hathor Temple, one of the country's best preserved ancient sites. The smiling Sphinx is much
smaller than the famous Sphinx in Giza, which is 20 metres high. The stone work of art, believed to
be a stylized representation of an ancient Roman emperor, was found inside a two-level tomb near
the temple in southern Egypt.
Next to the beautifully and accurately carved Sphinx, researchers had found a Roman stone
written in hieroglyph(象形文字).Once fully translated, the stone may unveil the identity of the
sculpted ruler, who could be Emperor Claudius.
The smiling Sphinx is among a series of discoveries announced over the past few months. The
country has uncovered major archaeological discoveries in recent months, primarily in the Saqqara
cemetery (south of Cairo as well as in Giza, home to the only surviving structure of the seven
wonders of the ancient world.Recently,Egypt announced the discovery of a hidden nine-metre

passage inside the Great Pyramid of Giza, which may lead to the actual burial room of pharaoh (
Khufu,or Cheops.Further south,in Luxor,archacologists had discovered a 1,800-year-old complete
residential city from the Roman times.

Zodiac,a heavenly map which has been displayed at the Louvre in Paris for more than a century.
Since Frenchman Sebastien Louis Saulnier took it out of the temple in 1922,Egypt has been
attempting to get it back.

scientific,as Egypt is counting on tourism to revive its vital tourism industry in a severe economic
crisis. The government aims to draw in 30 million tourists a year by 2028.

Part of building confidence is how you convey your thoughts, feelings, and ideas to others. Not
everyone will understand the way you express yourself, and that is okay. What is important is that
you put in your best effort to express your ideas. If you need help shaping your own ideas, getting
your thoughts on paper is a great way to do that.
Take small steps
Brainstorm the small things you can do to build your confidence and feel better about yourself.
For instance, you could try to change your vocabulary for a more positive, confident mindset.Or you
can start journaling more to get to feel more comfortable and confident about yourself.39.
Remember that you are your own worst critic

The four mountain climbers were still breathing heavily as they looked out into the distance.
The views from the top of the mountain were breathtaking. In all directions, valleys, forests and
other mountains were laid out before them. They could even see the small wooden houses of the
village where they had spent the night and the route they had taken to reach the top of this small but
dangerous mountain.Laughing loudly, they were surprised at their courage in climbing such a steep
and rocky mountain slope.Filled with an enormous sense of achievement, the four young climbers
patted each other on the back.
As the other three continued to enjoy the views,Jason, the leader of the group, stared at the
horizon with a troubled look on his face
"What is it,Jason?"Sofia, the youngest of the group, asked.
"Those dark clouds in the distance mean a heavy storm is fast on the way,"Jason replied. He
