Hi!
Yesterday I went on a great trip with my school! We went to London by train and we saw so many nice things!
First, we went to a museum which was so interesting! Do you like museums? I love them! Then, we had lunch at a nice cafe. I ate the best burgers ever! After lunch we went shopping. I bought some great presents for my family.
What a lovely day!
See you soon,
Helen

Students in Class A
To all students in Class A,
Would you like to join my other class on a camping trip on the weekend?
We are planning to travel to the beach in the school bus, and we’ll stay at a campsite (营地) from Friday to Sunday. The campsite is next to the beach and has a restaurant; you can rent (租借) bicycles at a local shop, too.
The trip costs £20. Please, come to my office during the break if you need any more information about the trip. Remember, your parents must agree that you can come. If you decide to join us, you must let me know by tomorrow.

Katherine Commale is an 11-year-old girl from Pennsylvania. At the age of five she began raising money to buy nets for children in Africa to help stop the spread of malaria.
When she was five, Katherine learned about malaria in Africa. She learned that every 30 seconds a child died from this disease. She also learned that people wouldn’t get that disease if they had enough bed nets. “I was really sad to learn that a child died every half a minute because of malaria.” Says Katherine, “I wanted to send nets right away, so that’s what I did.”
Five-year-old Katherine made presentations at churches and schools. She told students and others how important bed nets were for Africans. After people heard about the presentations, many of them donated money. Katherine sent the money to NBN. NBN is an organization that sends bed nets to Africa.
Besides, every holiday Katherine makes something called “bed net gift certificate” with the help of her friends and brothers. On each 10-dollar certificate there is a message. It explains that a bed net would be sent to Africa. When more certificate orders come, Katherine gets help from students in her school.

Not all fruits change color, but many do. The color change is one sign fruits give to show animals that they are ready to be eaten. Basically it’s nature’s way of saying, “★” to animals.
Why would fruits show that they are ripe (熟的)? Well, when animals eat them, it’s very helpful to the plant. When an animal eats the fruit, the seeds (种子) travel through the animal’s body. Later, the animal drops them in a different place. This allows the fruit plant to grow in a completely new area.
What’s more, fruit seeds may be covered in a soft coating and this makes it harder for them to grow. Going through an animal’s body helps them get out of this coating.
But here’s the thing: it only works if the seeds in the fruits are ripe when an animal eats them. Luckily, fruits have ways of protecting growing seeds from being eaten too soon.
One way is by looking unattractive. Fruits that are not fully grown have chlorophyll (叶绿素), which makes them green. This helps hide them among the leaves of a plant.
Once the seeds are matured, the chlorophyll begins to break down. This shows other colors—yellows, oranges, reds, blues, or purples—that were hidden by the green. When the fruits’ green cover changes to other colors, the fruits become easier for animals to find among the green leaves.
Besides changing color, fruits get softer and sweeter, and many give off a sweet smell. Animals have learned that these signs mean the fruits are good to eat. That’s good for the animals and the plants!
( )41.Which of the following can be put ★ in Paragraph 1?
A.Come and get it! B.Watch out for me!
C.Leave it alone! D.Play with me!
( )42.What happens to the seeds when animals eat fruits?
A.They are broken down. B.They are dropped in a new place.
C.They change colors. D.They stay in the animal’s body.
( )43.How can chlorophyll help fruits?
A.It helps fruits become fresher. B.It makes fruits taste sweeter.
C.It keeps fruits from being seen. D.It protects fruits from bad weather.
( )44.What does the underlined word “matured” probably mean?
A.Tidily eaten. B.Fully developed. C.Completely sold. D.Newly planted.
( )45.Which is the best title for the text?
A.Why do fruits need chlorophyll? B.Why do fruits want to be eaten?
C.Why do fruits protect their seeds? D.Why do fruits change their color?
